Madeline's POV- June 2017

The doorbell rang just as I made my way out of my room.

"Maddy! Door!"

I shook my head and made my way down the stairs. Nate and Noah were playing video games in the living room. My presence was nonexistent to them since they currently had their eyes glued to the TV. They were watching their favorite TV cartoon, Bob's Burgers. Before answering the door, I checked the peephole to see who was on the other side of the door. Madisyn, Corey Seager's girlfriend was patiently waiting for me to answer the door. When I did a smile formed on her face.

"Hi, sorry I'm early"

She had taken an uber here so she really had no control of time.

"Better early than late" I told her as I stepped back.

Once she was inside I closed the front door.

"Do you want something to drink?" I asked.

"Sure, what do you have?"

I signaled for her to follow me.

"Excuse my brothers, they forget their manners when they play video games" I stated.

She giggled as the game was paused and they both turned.

"Hey boys" I greeted.

"Hi Maddy, and other Mady"

They knew her, she sat with us during a game.

"Finish up, and go get ready" I told them.

They nodded and I led Mady to the kitchen.

"We have blueberry lemonade, iced tea, green tea, orange juice, gatorade and water" I listed off.

I opened the fridge and she smiled.

"Water is fine"

I nodded and got her a glass of water.

"Where's your kitten?"

"He hides when the twins are around" I replied.

She laughed and thanked me as I handed her the water. It was taking time for Poppy to get used to Nate and Noah. Mom said it had to do with the fact that he probably couldn't tell them apart. There was also an incident in which both boys decided to attack a sleeping Poppy with water guns. Since then, he had been cautious always making sure to avoid both of them.

"So things are going well with Cody?"

"Yes" I answered.

She smiled and looked down at her hands.

"I was thinking we could get our nails done?"

I did have mom on my butt telling me to get my nails done. She claimed men liked well-groomed ladies.

"Sure, I've been meaning to get them done" I stated.

"Yay"

Mady radiated sorority girl, which made sense since she was actually in a sorority. She was president of her chapter at ECU. I thought it was cute that her and Corey were High School sweethearts. They did long distance most of the year, and during the summer she spent it with him. As much as she loved him, school came first...and he absolutely loved that she had her own thing going on.

"And there is Poppy" I told her.

She turned around and immediately turned back to look at me.

"Can I pet him?"

"Sure, if he lets you" I answered knowing he was going to love the attention.

She stood up and made her way over.

"Hey boy"

She cooed at him, and he being the love hog he was, purred back. I looked away as my phone started ringing.

"Hey Will" I greeted as I answered the FaceTime call.

"Hey, just calling to make sure it's a yes on the dining table?"

"Yes" I confirmed.

Kasperi's girlfriend, Annika had emailed me a couple of links so we could decide on a dining table. We all agreed that no glass, and that it had to seat more than seven (incase company came over).

"Alright, I'll order it tomorrow morning"

I nodded and smiled at his brother Alex who appeared on the screen.

"Hey Maddy"

"Hi Alex" I greeted.

I glanced away to see Mady had picked Poppy up. She was holding him as if he were a baby, and he was loving every second of it.

"How's your day going?"

"It's going well" I replied.

"Maddy!"

"Sunscreen is on the bathroom counter" I called out.

"Thank you!"

Alex chuckled.

"What are your plans for today?"

"I'm getting my nails done with a friend and we will probably go out for dinner" I said.

I looked at Mady for confirmation to see her nodding.

"My ride is here, so I pass you back to Willy"

"Bye" I told him.

He waved and I smiled as William appeared on the screen.

"You're such a handsome guy, yet the angle I'm seeing is not" I stated.

He rolled his eyes and I nodded as he fixed his angle. His actual face was on the screen, instead of his double chin.

"So the Dodgers are doing well"

"Yeah, you watched a game?" I asked.

He snorted.

"No, but I got a notification on my phone. Your boy did well the other night"

"My boy?" I questioned.

"Well you are dating him, right? Like actually going on dates with him"

He raised an eyebrow.

"Right?"

"Yes" I answered.

"Good, I didn't want to have to slide into his DMs and threaten him"

I shook my head because I knew William would absolutely do that.

"You're right, he has to ask you to be his boyfriend in order for me to have the right to do that"

"I'm hanging up now" I said.

I smiled as his unique giggle came out of his mouth.

"I'll text you"

"Send me the invoice for that table" I told him.

He frowned and I ended the call before he could say anything. I looked at Mady who was still holding Poppy.

"Hey Maddy, can I ask you for a favor?"

I nodded, and she continued.

"Would you help me with my statement of purpose?"

"Yeah, of course" I answered.

She let out a sigh.

"Oh thank god. I could use all the help I could get"

"Did you ask Kelsey?" I asked.

Kelsey, Joc Pederson's fiancee helped me with that when I was applying to Grad School last year. She offered, and I took her up on it.

"I did, and she referred me to you. She told me she helped you when you were applying last year, and that I should read one of yours before I started writing.

I nodded.

"Well I will help you in any way I can" I stated.

She placed Poppy down and watched as he exited the room. I smiled as I heard Poppy growl which was followed by a hiss, meaning Nate and Noah were near him. Just as I suspected, the twins walked into the room.

"We're ready"

"Let me get my purse, Mady come with me so I can show you my room" I answered.

Mady nodded and followed me up to my room.

"Have you talked with Cody today?"

"I talked with him this morning" I responded.

He had practice early this morning, so I got his good morning text earlier than usual (at 7AM). I woke up at 10AM, so I saw the text then. As I ate breakfast, I gave him a call. He had been napping when I called him, but still answered.

"The guys tease him so much especially because he gets super giggly when they mention you"

I had heard about that from Cody himself.

"I'm leaving to Toronto in September" I reminded her.

"It doesn't mean long distance won't work"

That was true.

"Don't overthink it. Just go with the flow"

I nodded and grabbed my purse.

"Now let's go drop your brothers off"

"I was thinking we go eat that Mac and Cheese with hot cheetos I was telling you about" I suggested.

"Yes, and let's take pictures so the guys could hate from Cleveland"
