"And all the people say

You can't wake up, this is not a dream

You're part of a machine, you are not a human being"

-Halsey

They woke up the next morning, neither one wanting to get out of bed and have to deal with the outside world.

"We have to go." TJ said as Paul rolled on top of her.

"I know, I just don't want to lose you again." He replied, speaking his biggest fear. He already had to go through that once, he didn't think his heart would take it a second time.

"You won't." Lie

As much as it hurt her to keep such a huge secret to herself, she couldn't tell him.

On the battlefield, the air was just as somber as TJ and the pack waited for their cue, they had the element of surprise as the newborns had no idea what they were actually up against.

A few seconds after the Cullens attacked, TJ and the pack followed in suit. TJ loved the feeling that she got when she was in battle, it was such a rush. She felt the bodies of the newborns get sliced with her sword and to her it felt like cutting butter.

Emmett was too busy with one newborn to see another about to jump behind him. TJ jumped into action and shot the newborn in between the eyes, pinning him to a tree. Emmett smiled at her and they went their separate ways.

Everyone was fairing well against the newborns, using teamwork from both sides to exterminate them. Emmett had even helped Paul get the three newborns that had jumped on his back.

Was it sadistic to say that TJ was actually enjoying herself?

Probably

When the last newborn was taken down, the Cullens set the bodies of the newborns to flames.

"The wolves need to get out of here." Carlisle said. "The Volturi won't honor a treaty with the werewolves."

A lone newborn jumped out from behind a tree to jump on top of Leah but before the newborn could, they scuffled a bit and Jacob stepped in. The newborn was behind him and wrapped his arms around his torso, immediately crushing him.

"Jacob!" Bella screamed and she ran towards him.

All Jacob felt was bone shattering pain travel through his whole body. He didn't even register Paul and Leah ripping the newborn to shreds. The pain felt worse than being bit by a vampire, like he was being set on fire from the inside and having a branding fork shoved throughout his body.

"The bones on both sides of his body are shattered." Carlisle said as Jacob screamed in pain when he examined him. TJ kneeled next to him with tears in her eyes, she wasn't that close to Jacob but to see one of her own like this, it broke her.

"Jacob you idiot, I had it!" Leah said as the pack ran out in their human forms.

"Leah!" Sam scolded.

"I need to set the bones before his accelerated healing kicks in, it's already started." Carlisle said.

"I can do it." TJ volunteered. She had picked up some healing techniques from Apollo. Plus, she knew that the council wouldn't be okay with having a Cullen on their land regardless of the situation.

"We'll take him back to Billy's." Sam said.

TJ cringed as they set Jacob down and he cried out in pain. She could see his right side, how compressed it looked compared to the other side. She heard the pack leave the two alone.

"This is going to hurt. I'm sorry."

She thought of healing Jacob, and fixing his ribs the way that they should be. She could feel warm encase her hands and in no time at all, they were glowing red. The second she touched his right side, he screamed at the top of his lungs. Tj could feel his bones realign themselves to the correct position beneath her palms. He screamed out again as she mended the bone.

Sweat dropped down her forehead, she had never done something this major, usually it was just healing a couple cuts and bruises. Apollo explained to her that the way she was able to heal was to take her life force and fix her injuries, so taking her life force and putting it into someone else was a lot harder than she thought. Especially of this magnitude.

Finally, when the last bone was in it's correct place and fixed, she sighed in relief. She wiped the sweat off Jacob's forehead as he gave her a small smile.

"Thanks TJ."

And he promptly fell asleep. She smiled back and wiped her own sweat, at least she was able to do something good before she left.
