"Like a river flows surely to the sea

Darling so it goes

Some things are meant to be

Take my hand, take my whole life too

For I can't help falling in love with you"

-Elvis Presley

"Happy 18th birthday Trinity!" Her parents voices yelled.

When she opened her eyes and saw her parents on the side of her bed smiling at her. Her mother was holding a chocolate cupcake with purple frosting, her favorite. TJ made a wish and quickly blew out the candle.

"Thanks Mom and Dad." They both hugged their daughter. They were proud of the young woman she's become; kind, intelligent and strong.

"We got you something." Her father pulled a large box from behind him and gave it to her. She laughed at the cheesy birthday wrapping paper before she opened the box.

She gasped. In the box was a bow and arrow that looked like they were dipped in gold. The tips of the arrows were black and she could count at least 20 of them.

"I love it." And she did. She had recently begun to show an interest in archery and loved that her parents knew everything about her, even though they weren't home often.

When she pulled up to the school, she saw Paul waiting for her at her usual parking space. He moved out of the way so that she could park her bike and smiled at her when she took her helmet off. She fluffed her hair back up and smiled at him.

"Happy birthday princess." She glared at his new pet name for her but accepted the side hug anyways. She'd never get use to the warmth that always seemed to surround Paul. "I got you something."

"You didn't have to."

"It's your birthday, of course I did." They walked to his locker and he grabbed a long, thin, canister and gave it to her. She opened the top and took out the scroll.

"Paul, this is amazing."

He knew that in Greek mythology class she particularly loved when they talked about the Amazons, and when he saw it at an old tag sale, he knew she would love it.

"Thank you." She carefully put the scroll back and pulled him in for a hug. The first time she's ever initiated contact with him.

He wrapped his thick arms around her slim waist as her arms went around his neck. When she backed up he still kept his arms around her, loving how she felt against him. He looked into her eyes that looked more blue today and felt himself falling deeper in love with her. She leaned in and kissed his cheek, her soft lips feeling like bliss. When she pulled out his grasp he felt like a part of himself was missing. He knew he couldn't be her brother, friend or protecter, he wanted to be her lover. Soon he would have to tell her that he imprinted on her.

They walked into school and the whispers began about how her and Paul were dating. Ever since he joined the pack he was always around her, walking her to and from her classes, sitting next to her at lunch, so she could see where they would draw that conclusion.

He walked with her as she went to her locker to grab her books for her morning classes and they headed to their first class of the day together. The teacher glared at TJ as she walked in but she pretended not to see. The teacher handed them all a thick packet full of words problem to 'get a feel for what he should be spending the most time teaching on' aka basically a free period for him. TJ finished in 30 minutes and the class still had another 45 minutes to go.

"TJ?" She broke her state from the window to look at Paul. "Would you mind helping me? There's a couple questions that I don't get."

She scooted her chair close enough that their legs were touching and the smell of him invaded her nose; earth and cologne. Lately she had been aware of everything that was Paul Lahote, and she didn't know why. She didn't pay him any attention before, so why now?

"You have to get x by itself so whatever you do to one side of the equation, you have to do to the other."

Even now, when he was concentrating, his brows narrowed and the tip of his tongue poked out between his lips, it made her body feel warm and tingly. She had been attracted to guys before, but this was different, she felt like she was a moth and Paul was the flame. No matter how bad she knew he was for her, she couldn't help but be attracted to him.

"Fuck." Paul snapped his head to her in a look of concern.

"Are you okay?"

"I have to go." She gathered her things, gave the teacher her packet and booked it out the classroom. Leaving Paul to wonder what he did wrong.
