《The Side Character ☑》Chapter 5 (Edited) - Crazy, Stupid, Crush.

As I skip my way towards my next class, I can't help a smile from forming on my lips.

Why? I think you guys probably know the answer to why I'm in such a good mood, don't you?

I halt to a stop as I realise who's sitting at the back of my class. At the furthest corner, reading a book, sits Ryder. He glances up for a moment and gives me a little smile. I wave a little at him and make my way towards the middle where I usually sit.

Leah looks up from her phone when I sit beside her, "Hey."

I grin at her, "Hi Leah! I didn't see you at lunch, where were you?"

Leah winks at me, "In the janitor's closet. Where do you think?"

I chuckle. Leah's someone who's classified as the school slut. She's blonde, has manicured nails and wears make up like a second skin. So she's your typical every story slut that want to steal your guy.

But as I've already mentioned, it's not your typical story and I'm not the main character. So she hasn't got any reason to hate me.

Besides, I prefer not to judge people till I know them. And after I began to know Leah, I started to realize that she wasn't really a that bad of a person.

The class passes in a blur of roots and squares and before I know, I'm slinging my bag over my shoulder.

"So you even got the ice Prince to break, huh? I saw the smile he gave you," Leah says as we walk down the hallway. Leah's followers, as she likes to call them, follow behind us.

"Ice Prince?" I ask her dumbfounded.

"Well, the new guy? Ryder Woods?" She fakes a shiver, "Geez, I only asked him out to sit with me at lunch and he glared at me like I asked for his kidney or something."

I laugh, "He might be a little...difficult to handle sometimes. But he's not a bad guy!" I defend him.

She smirks, "Well, will you look at that? Is little miss munchkin finally having a crush?"

I glare at her slightly, "Don't call me a munchkin!"

She chuckles, "Sorry but if I'm not mean to you then what'll to my reputation?"

I give her a slight smile, "I'll never understand why you always pretend to be someone you're not. Why hang out with fake friends when you can have real ones?"

She glances at me for a moment, "When everyone believes you to be someone else, it doesn't matter who you are or want to be. You automatically turn into that person."

With that she walks away, leaving a confused me.

I think over her words and suddenly realize that how true they are.

-----------------------------------------------------

"And then I said fuck you bitch."

You could probably guess who that is.

"I mean seriously," Sam huffs leaning on her car as we wait for Chloe, "Who does she thinks she is to get all up in Mason's face? Can't see she that he's obviously fed up of her always trying to shove her boobs down his throat? Which, by the way, are obviously synthetic?!"

I hum, "Are you sure you hate her just because of her synthetic boobs and not because she's shoving it on your man's face?"

She glares at me, "Of course! And Mason's not my man! I don't care what he does, who he fucks! I hate him!"

I smirk as I watch her flustered face, "Sure you do."

She suddenly changes the subject, "Damn it! Where's Chloe? She's taking too long!"

I roll my eyes at her blatant lie and change of subject. Honey, I'm someone who is specialized in the Teen Romance department. If I can't sense the seeds of love blooming, who can?

Specialized Romance my ass. Find a boyfriend first before you start talking big.

Shut up!

Hah! Loser!

Did I mention I have a bitchy voice inside my head whose only goal in life is to torment me?

But since Sam is too busy cursing Chloe in different languages ranging from Portuguese to Hindi, it takes my mind off of it.

Chloe and Sam lived about three blocks apart so they usually went home together after school as Chloe didn't have a car yet. Alexis bid us goodbye a while ago and went home with her boyfriend Dylan.

She missed so much though. As we were waiting for Chloe to finish up her God-knows-what in the library, Leah had been flirting with Mason.

Mason black. I don't know what has been going on between him and Sam (whenever I ask her about it she always blows me off, saying it was work and whenever I ask about what work she would always just glare at me) but I noticed that they had this weird tension between them nowadays.

If I didn't know any better I'd say it was sexual. Whenever they'd look at each other, she'd give a glare that could bury The Hulk six feet under and he gave a smirk that could make any girl's panties disappear.

Shrugging I look around only to find Ryder leaning on his bike watching everything around him with an emotionless face. I shush Sam while she ranted on about how she wants to kill Chloe, Mason and Leah all in one shot and walk over to him.

"Hey husband," I greet him cheekily. He turns around, mild amusement slipping into his emotionless face, "Hey. What're you doing here so late after school ended?"

"Smoking pot, checking hot guys, arguing with Sam, take your pick," I shrug.

He chuckles slightly, "I fervently hope that the first one isn't real."

I grin at him, "So what are you doing so late? Don't you have people to torture and gangs to rule?"

He raises an eyebrow at me, "What makes you think I do that?"

In answer I gesture to all of him, "Look at you! Leather jacket, bike and a glare to everyone in a mile around you? You scream gang member!"

"Don't judge a book by its cover. Who was the one who said that, huh?" He narrows his eyes at me. But I detect a hint of a smirk on his lips.

I put a hand on my waist, "I dare you to say I'm wrong."

I was obviously joking but when he doesn't deny, my jaw falls down.

"Seriously?"

"Shut up. And I don't glare at everyone," he mutters.

"Really?" I cock an eyebrow.

He glares at me.

"See?" I snicker, "You just proved my point."

Smirking he throws my own words right back at me, "Again, were you never told to not judge a book by its cover?"

"I'm not judging a book! Don't compare yourself to something so amazing as books. You're not that interesting," I stick my tongue out at him.

He chuckles, "Well, I would have to say this though. You're really interesting."

I snort, "Sure. As interesting as a brick."

He smiles slightly, "Tell me, Lisa...Lisa,right? I heard it at the party but I'm not sure."

I roll my eyes at him, "You talked with me for an hour at lunch and you didn't bother to ask my name? Wow, you sure know how to charm a girl," I say sarcastically, "Its actually Alison. But yes, everyone calls me Lisa."

He turns so he was facing me while learning half of his body on his bike.

And damn, did he look hot.

No! Shut up!

"Tell me," he says lowly, "Why did you came to give me company? Why did you leave your best friend, Sam," he raises an eyebrow where Sam is standing, "To come to me?"

I don't know what to say so I tease him, "To annoy the hell out of you?"

He shakes his head slightly smiling, "No. You came because you saw me standing alone. Without a friend and with an emotionless face. You came to cheer me up, didn't you?"

My heart starts racing. Trying to hide the shock I'm feeling with an incredulous look, I say, "W-what? Why would you think that?"

How? How can he know? How can a boy, who I had known for just two hours at most, know me like this when my best friends aren't able to figure it out? Aren't able to figure out why I always act like this? Why I always take everything as a joke? How I'm friends with everyone?

He smiles slightly, "You're wondering how I know? Well, I'm a pretty observant person. And it wasn't hard to notice how you're friends with everyone. How you cheer everyone up. Though I haven't had figured out why you do it though," he smirks at my shocked face, "Most people are happy with three or four friends and don't give a shit about everyone else. Why do you though?"

I gape at him, unable to process a reply. He chuckles and winks at me, "But I'm looking forward to figuring it out though."

Suddenly someone calls for him, I look up to see a dirty blonde haired boy waving at him. He's wearing almost the same attire as him. Leather jacket, jeans and surprise, surprise he's on a bike too.

What are they? A matching costumes couple?

"Gotta go," he smiles at me as he swings his legs around his bike, "And thank you though I didn't need it. Unlike you, I don't give a fuck about people and don't want a school full of friends."

Winking at me once again, he takes off with the blonde guy following him close behind.

And leaving a dazed me. Slowly I trudge back towards where Sam is impatiently standing. With an annoyed as hell looking Chloe as she gets a lecture on about how to read a watch.

"...see the short hand? It symbolizes an hour, which by the way you had made me wait for about-"

"I know how to bloody read time! And I'm sorry- oh hey Lisa!" She greets me half heartedly and goes back to their shouting match, "I said it won't happen again!"

Sam was probably going to throw some more colourful words at her when she looks at me and takes in my flushed face with slightly raised eyebrows, "What happened to you?"

Noticing my state Chloe looks at me concerned, "Are you okay? You look..."

Sam and Chloe both share a look.

I decide it's time to speak up, "Like I just had the biggest crush of my life? Yes, you're totally correct."
