《rosekook au.》Falling in Love. BONUS

Jeon Jungkook believes that his mother is up to no good.

For the entire morning, she was glued to her phone, smiling at it as though she were a teenager reading a love note from her crush. Not only that, but Mrs. Jeon tells him that they'll have dinner early, which was especially unusual considering that his mother was usually nagging at him for wanting to eat dinner earlier. Yet, he doesn't think much about it (or perhaps, he doesn't care too much) when she explains that a special guest will be joining them, an important business partner.

She whispers something into her husband's ear and Jeon Jungkook notices the way her father's eyes light up in excitement before he nods, "... I'll finish work early to make sure I can be there."

But he shrugs off the thought, thinking that perhaps his parents were simply getting to that age where they were being weirder than usual.

Menopause, perhaps?

He shrugs at the thought before checking his own phone, seeing that Park Chaeyoung, his fiancé, hadn't messaged him good morning like she usually would.

The disappointment must've been clear because his mother asks him what's wrong as helps the maid pass the coffee to him.

"You okay honey?" She questions him, putting the glass beside him and peering through his phone, a small smirk on the side of her lip when she sees that he's opening his chat with his fiancé.

"I'm worried about Chaeyoung, she usually makes sure to send a message before she goes to sleep," he explains, "... we had a small fight the other day, we're still not able to decide on a venue."

"Hmm, you guys will work it out," she tells him, "... or just let her have her way, happy wife happy life y'know."

Mrs. Jeon turns to her husband, giving him a brief glare which is enough to have him opening his mouth, "... she's right."

"Chaeyoung wants to have it in London, so she can invite that all her university friends can come," he explains, "... but I think it'll be better if we do it here in Korea—where we actually met and fell in love too. Plus, it'll be easy to send invitations for business clients."

"Jungkook, honey—as much as I'm glad that you're taking this business thing seriously," Mrs. Jeon begins, resting her hands on his shoulder, "... please remember the wedding is for you two. We'll adjust to you, it's not like we can't fly them out anyway."

"Are you sure about that? Because the names on our guest list are 90% from you and I don't even recognize most of them—" he mutters.

"Anyway, we better go, busy day today, we're getting a new intern this afternoon," she notifies him, "... finish your coffee quickly, we need to go."

At first, Jeon Jungkook thought that finally being out of school and working full time for his mother would be fun.

But it turns out, it's a lot less fun than being in the same city as your girlfriend, who was all the way in England.

He knows, it's only a little over a year until she graduates, but even so, he hopes it goes by sooner rather than later.

Park Chaeyoung lands in Seoul a little after midday, but after a very long flight all she wants to do is take a shower and sleep.

But she can't, because it had been way too long since she'd seen her boyfriend and she genuinely feels she couldn't delay it any longer.

She's picked up by one of the company drivers, who takes her to the Jeon Residences where she's greeted by the maids, who'd still recognized her from before she left for her university studies. It had been two years since she'd left and while the pair planned on visiting each other often—the global pandemic had other ideas.

It was challenging, to say the least.

On top of her studies, missing her boyfriend who was in an entirely different time zone and planning a wedding whereby the couple couldn't decide on a location for, she was very stressed.

Hence, when the opportunity came for her to visit South Korea for a semester, on exchange, she didn't even think twice.

Park Chaeyoung texts her soon-to-be-mother-in-law when she finishes taking a shower, and instantly one of the drivers come to her and informs her that he'll take her straight to the company.

It'll be the first time she visits, and to be honest, she's very nervous.

The gentleman must've noticed the way she keeps messing with the hem of the dress because he smiles and tells her, "... you look great miss, Mr. Jeon will be super happy to see you."

When she gets in the car, she opens her phone to see a long apology from her boyfriend, who apologized for the fight and told her they can have the venue where ever they like. He asks her to text her instantly, to let him know that she's okay.

She decides not to.

Hold on a little longer, babe.

"What department is the intern going to be in?" Jeon Jungkook questions his mother curiously as she walks beside her, heading to the office.

His mother informed him that they'll be saying hello to the new intern, who was waiting in his office. He finds it strange that his mother blinks in confusion before mutter something about the law department.

"So why do we need to say hi?" He questions.

Furrowing her brow, the older woman hits him on the side of his arm, "... stop asking questions you're annoying!"

He wonders what's up with his mother today.

But when he opens the door and sees the most beautiful woman in the world standing in his office looking through his bookshelf, his mouth drops open.

"Chaeyoung?" He gasps and without thinking he runs and lifts her up in an embrace, not believing that he was really holding his girlfriend in his arms, "... w—what?"

"Are you surprised?" She giggles, yet when he looks into her eyes, he can see that there's tears in them, "... your mom helped with the surprise."

He turns to his mother and sees her crying too before she nods, and heads out to give the couple privacy. Looking at her, he sees as she bring her fingers against his cheek, wiping his tears too.

Only then, he notices that he's crying too.

"The distance is hard, isn't it?" She finally speaks.

He knows right there and then, that falling in love was both the most joyful yet heartbreaking experience at times.

"I'm not letting you go back to London," he tells her before he leans in a kisses her, in the same way he'd been thinking about for the last couple of years, "... I can't believe you're here."

The pair sit down and she tells him all about the flight and her studies, everything that he didn't get caught on because of her long distance flight. She tells him that she'll be here for half a year, on an exchange program.

"But there's something I want to do when I'm here," she tells him.

"Anything," he doesn't hesitate to reply, thinking that in that moment, he was so happy that she could ask him to commit murder and he wouldn't second guess it.

"Let's get married, here in Seoul before I go back."
