Jeon Jungkook is content with admiring her from a distance.

He has liked her for a while now, not only because of how breathtaking gorgeous she was with her beige-brown hair and heart-stopping smile, but because of who she was as a person. In his mind, she was the perfect woman—hard working, kind and intelligent. Jeon Jungkook isn't one who pays attention in class, but he'd hear her name often, usually to be praised for getting the highest marks or for helping the teachers for extracurriculars.

His crush on her started a lot earlier though, namely at the student orientation festival when he was seated a few rows from her. Even as strangers, fresh from Australia (if he wasn't mistaken) she was highly popular and mingled well with the other freshmen. In one of the sessions, they were asked to be divided into groups of twelve and as always, he was sitting alone on the side of the pew. Unlike her, whereby the masses practically ran to her like a race—as though she were a celebrity.

It became a habit for him to be recluse and in the years that he grew up, he learned not to mind being alone too much, to make sure he didn't draw attention to himself.

He moved houses too often, and knew that due to his parents work, he'll need to accompany them a lot and probably won't be able to be around for long and so he simply sits down, staring in his lap, hair falling down to cover his face. A few teachers nagged at him to tidy his hair, but the principal quickly rushed and told them it was fine, after all, his parents were contributing more donations than entire cohorts alone.

And so that was has it always was, he paid his way through life.

His father used to tell him that they'd worked hard, so that they could live an easier life now—one where money brought the luxury of comfort.

He still remembers her rushing to him, tapping on his shoulder.

"Do you not have a group? You can join us, I'm sure a group of thirteen is fine," her voice, honeyed and beautiful just like her face asks and before he could even respond, her fingers wrap around his wrist and tug him out of his chair.

"Chaeyoung, our group is full," one of the kids commented when he reached their vicinity.

"It's okay, no one gets left behind," she responded before casually chiming into the group activity, her hand gently against his back to make sure he was joining in.

When he came home that day, his mother asked him how was school and whether they'd made friends. Unlike his father, she wanted him to have a focused social life outside of comfort and money.

He couldn't get her face out of his mind since then.

Even after wards, when classes officially started, she proved herself to be a good as she seemed. She was often running around the campus, between her friend groups and meetings and teachers offices to discuss whatever event were running that year. Park Chaeyoung was active in everything—sports, activities, leadership and even was in the tutoring program.

As much as he'll never admit it, he attends the football games whenever he can, because watching her in cheer was her true element—her smile, her effervescence and energy was indescribable.

Yet their story, for the most part stops here. He doesn't go to school much, especially since his parents often travel for exhibitions and training programs, and he too—finds it even more difficult to talk to her, when she's surrounded and loved by all.

Hence, when he's paired up with her, he cannot help but feel the butterflies in his stomach. He tries to be cool, but fails terribly, especially when his mother is looking at him with 'make her my daughter in law' eyes.

If only I could!

"Is Chaeyoung still asleep? You should ask one of the maids to wake her up," Mr. Jeon suggests, hearing a lot about his sons friend from his wife.

"Her uniform is already washed and ironed," Mrs. Jeon adds, "... ask her to join us for breakfast, she enjoyed eating with us last night."

Jeon Jungkook shakes his head, "... she's quite tired, we should let her sleep in. I'll ask for her food to be packed to go."

"Ah, that's really sweet of you. As expected from my son," Mrs. Jeon fawns proudly before turning to her husband, "... she's really pretty and sweet. Really, I hope you can say hi to her before you go to work."

Mr. Jeon chuckles, "... seems like your mother has a bigger crush on her than you."

"Dad!" He groans, "... I do not have a crush on her, she's just my partner for school."

"Yeah, right... since when did you take your schoolwork seriously?"

Park Chaeyoung quickly showers and puts on the uniform that she assumes the maid set on the side of the bed for her, quickly emerging from the staircase to find Jeon Jungkook standing by the door.

"Morning," his voice is almost ruff, as he holds out a small insulated container towards her.

As their hands meet, she cannot help but stare at his tattoos—such a contrast of dark ink against his pale skin.

"I'm sorry for the trouble," she bows her head, "... what's this?"

"Breakfast, mom was disappointed that she couldn't eat with you and meet dad but they're off to work now," he tells her, unravelling the hair tie so that his hair, as usual, begins to cover his face.

"Oh, thank you Jungkook," she smiles, before absentmindedly adding, "... you should keep your hair up next time, it suits you. It makes your facial features stand out."

Oh no, she blushes as soon as she realises what she said.

"So you're saying I'm attractive?" He teases her, a little too seamlessly.

"N—no I didn't say that!" She tells him, flustered, before one of his maids comes out and tells him that the car and driver are ready.

For the most part, the car ride is relatively quiet. Jeon Jungkook is on his phone for the most part and she's also texting her friends, letting them know that she's in fact fine and wasn't murdered.

A part of her wants to tell them about everything that happened, yet another part of her is unsure.

Was it selfish that she didn't want the others to see the side of him that she saw?

Maybe it's a good thing that leaves his hair out at school.

"So what does your mother do? Does she help out at your fathers clinic?" She assumes.

"No," he tells her, "... her family is in the diamond industry."

Park Chaeyoung thinks it makes sense, just by the way his mother presented herself last night.

"That's nice, your mother is really nice," she comments.

He chuckles, "... you two seem to get along well."

Jeon Jungkook tries not to be agitated when he hears Jung Hoseok telling the other boys in the boy's bathroom about his plan to ask Park Chaeyoung to prom.

Prom was still ten months away, how could he be asking so early?!

"She's so fucking hot, I bet she's a freak in bed," one of the other boys, who he doesn't recognise comments, ask the other boys laugh in jeer.

Jeon Jungkook wants to punch them all out.

Later on during last period, Jeon Jungkook finds himself waiting by the door as he watches as Jung Hoseok approaches her. His driver is already in the lobby and he's rushed by his mother who tells him that there's an important networking event to go to, but he can't help it.

It's almost as though his body has a mind of its own, he heads towards her and pats her on the shoulder.

"We're meant to do group work," he mutters under his breath, watching a flash of relief on her face as she turns to him, confused.

"Really?" She questions, and he finds it cute the way she furrows her brows, trying to remember whether they'd made a plan.

He nods.

She turns to the other boy, "... I'm sorry Hoseok, I need to go. I'll see you around."

They walk in silence for a while until the reach the main entrance and she spots his driver.

"Your driver is here," she tells him, "... thanks for saving me."

She noticed?

Jeon Jungkook turns his head away, hoping she doesn't notice the way his face turns red.

"Do you have student council meetings today?" He changes the subject, wondering whether it was obvious that he was extending the conversation.

She shakes her head, "... I have a lot of work to do though for the festival, but I can work on it at home."

"Are you going by bus?" He questions.

She nods.

"Then let me drop you off," he offers.

She shakes her head, "... no, no, you've done a lot and I live quite far. It'll be the opposite direction for you."

"It's okay," he tells her, thinking that he doesn't want the possibility of her talking to other guys right now on the busstop or way home.

He nods to his driver and tells him that they'll need to take another stop before going back home, and the pair sit in silence.

When they arrive, he's surprised to see that she lives in a rougher part of Seoul and wonders why he feels uneasy, knowing she lives alone and that most of her meetings for the school finish late. In his mind, for someone who was so delicate and classy as her, he would think she'd live elsewhere.

"You don't need to get out, thank you Jungkook," she smiles, noticing him reaching for the door.

He gets out anyway and walks her to the lobby, and he can see that she's flustered, perhaps feeling bad that he knew where she lived, and the conditions that she did so.

"Don't overwork yourself," he tells her, "... it's okay to rest too."

"Wait here," she tells him, before running upstairs and re-emerging with some candy, handing it to him, "... a small thank you, for everything. You really saved me just then."

"You know, you could just say no..." he tells her, before taking the candy from her, "... if you don't want to go to prom."

"It's not that easy," she gives him a lined smile, "... I'm expected to go—everything I do must be perfect."

He can see, that it's such pressure that weighs her down.

"Even the greatest heroes need help too, Chaeyoung."
