《Who am I?! (Completed)》Alternate Ending

(During the Final battle, Marinette is still seventeen)
Ladybug breathed in and out heavily and her eyes zeroed in on the purple figure not too far away from her.
She was bleeding all over and was literally seconds away from fainting but she kept her blue eyes open for as long as she could, she wasn't going to fall unconscious again and give him the chance to take her earrings.
Hawkmoth was bleeding too but he seemed like he was dealing with the pain worse than her despite being hurt less than said girl.
Marinette knew she didn't have much of a choice of what to do and a certain conversation she had replayed over in her head. She knew of all the consequences and the sort of effect she was going to have on everyone around her if she was to go with what she planned.
Well it wasn't actually what she planned but it was her final resort if she was failing and that is exactly what she was doing; failing.
"Guardian, are you sure you're alright?"
She blinked rapidly and tilted her head at the man. She had been fighting him ever since she was twelve, now standing at the fresh age of seventeen, she's been fighting a fight that was never even hers to begin with for five years now and she's been through it all. She's fought all the demons and even some angels.
She wanted to live a normal life alike to all the other teenage girls her age but no matter if she was given a miraculous, she was always going to be denied the average teenage life since she was born into the spotlight.
She was a Wayne through and through, nothing could change that no matter what happened. Everyone made sure that Marinette knew that because frankly, she had forgotten that. That was one part of herself that she lost but she's found it again thanks to them.
"Yeah I'm Okay Wayzz, it's just..."
Hawkmoth was an endearing man some could say. Others however would say the opposite and call the anonymous man a coward.
To Marinette, he was someone who was a bastard hiding behind a mask and doesn't have enough guts to come and get the miraculous himself. And it's true because how many times did he actually make a public appearance.
To someone else though, he was a father and to a special someone, he was their husband.
"What happens if we lose, if I fail? When everything goes south, there'll be one last solution but at no means will I be stopped from doing it."
Marinette thought of everything as she stood tall, with a posture like no other. Her hair messy and free from being tied up, her earrings beeping along with her crimson blood seeping out from several places but she disregarded them.
She thought back to her family, back to her friends, back to those who cared.
They didn't deserve this and she knew the pain that they were about to go through but she had no other choice. She was being selfless and saving so many lives, even if she didn't see the end results she would happily go knowing the impact she left and that her choices benefitted everyone but her.
But, little did Marinette know that she didn't know the pain they were about to go through because they were going to experience a pain like no other.
"Guardian, you don't mean..."
Marinette turned around so that her back was facing her long time enemy, she looked down at her most prized possession and took in one deep breath before opening the box. There was no going back now. No regrets because this was for the best.

The box opened by her command and without any sign of hesitation she wore each piece of jewellery. The magical accessories had been worn by her so many times before that she knew from the back of her hand which was what and where they had to go without getting confused.
She wore them and they felt heavy on her but she didn't care.
"It's exactly what I mean Wayzz. If it's not happily ever after, just make sure that-"
She saw each and every Kwami fly out of their selected miraculous and immediately felt their eyes land on her, every kwami was present besides Tikki since she was already wearing her and that was for the best because she wouldn't be able to handle that.
Marinette could hear every single one of their questions firing away at her but she blocked them out and her eyes found its way to Wayzz, the only one out of all the Gods and Goddess' who was not questioning her actions and the reason was obvious.
She have him a sturdy not and soon stood back onto her feet with all the jewellery that she rightfully owned. She gave the colourful Kwami's a once over and a sad smile sat on her lips, she wished she had more time but this was all they were going to get together.
Yes, she hated that everything she did lead up to this but it was better than nothing, it was better than losing to him.
Marinette had long come to terms that this was the only resolution and was more than happy to go through with it but just because she was willing to do it didn't mean that they agreed and they suddenly noticed.
"Woah, don't you dare do what I think your doing bug because that idea absolutely sucks."
"Don't even try it!"
"There had to be another way!"
"Have you thought about what Tikki is going to say about this?!"
"NO!"
"Guardian, please be reasonable."
"Wait, please wait."
"Oh no, this is so bad."
She left them unanswered and gave them a watery smile, if this was going to be their last memory of her then she would want it to be her being happy and smiling.
She hated leaving them and even though there was going to be no return this time, she would keep telling herself their would be always a happy ending that included her.
"Thank you, for everything"
"Please, make sure no one forgets about me."
And everything was engulfed in a bright light, blinding them all.
There was this saying that when you die, your life flashes before you and you literally see your life ending before your own eyes.
Seeing yourself being born and then in less than a second to see yourself die, it must hurt like hell but here's the catch... It doesn't hurt because you're already dead.
Marinette saw everything, and that means everything with no detail left out. It hurt for a bit but then the pain faded.
It faded and she breathed her last breath.
She dropped to the ground as her magical outfit fading away and lay their lifelessly, her bluebell eyes wide open and unblinking looking up into the clearing sky showing the bright blue sky that was covered in clouds and fog.
As soon as she hit the ground, all her jewellery she rightfully owned shattered like glass into a million pieces. From afar, the brooch Hawkmoth wore broke into five separate pieces and fell onto the concrete pavement now leaving Gabriel for the world to see.

Mayura who stood not too far behind her boss had the same thing happen to her but hers broke into way more pieces, leaving a weak and deathly looking Nathalie.
Gabriel stared gobsmacked and screamed in frustration knowing he had actually lost to a measly teenage girl.
Tikki screamed
The magical being flew down to her owner and felt her eyes sparkle at the sight of the dead bluenette. And before anyone knew it she was crying, all the magical Gods and Goddess' were crying for their Guardian.
She cried her hearts contents and she felt as if she lost a piece of herself, and that's exactly what happened.
Tikki had lost so many people of her time living on earth but none of them meant as much as Marinette did. Marinette was so special and she never imagined losing her. She never wanted to lose Marinette yet here Tikki was,
Tikki had lost Marinette
She continued crying and she felt her powers spark, she knew if she wasn't going to control them anytime soon then she would have an outburst but she couldn't care about that right now because.
She had just lost Marinette
Her powers flew and they cured everything, fixing the destruction that had been inflicted onto Paris during the battle but her eyes were solely on her.
Marinette was gone now and was never going to come back.
Abrielle landed softly on her feet. She had witnessed the sudden bright flash and was more than confused because it went as soon as it came, and when it went Paris looked like Paris.
She had so many questions and went towards the area she had last saw her best friend.
And that's when she noticed it.
She ran as fast as she could and dropped onto her knees besides the body she knew all too well.
Her crystal blue eyes welled up with tears and her breath way shaky as her hands raggedly made its way to the bluenette's face. As soon as it made contact with the cold pale skin she broke down.
Tears ran down her cut and slightly bruised face, her right hand softly on her cheek as she inspected the girl before her.
Chloe had lost Marinette
She had no idea what happened but what she did know was that Marinette was dead. She cried and cried so much that she didn't noticed Plagg pull Tikki away from the dead girls body.
Chloe sucked in a breath as she felt the sun shine down on her, how could the sun make its appearance now when they were facing this.
Chloe lost her best friend.
She tried her best to save her, even tried to do CPR on her but alas she was already gone and nothing could be done to save her. Chloe remembered everything, from the first time they met and to this days morning and everything in between.
How dare she?!
How fucking dare she go and be the selfless person she is, she saved them all like she always did but she couldn't save her self.
Marinette was never able to save herself
Chloe lost her partner in crime.
The tears never stopped and they wouldn't stop till the day the two best friends met again.
Bruce Wayne had arrived not too long after. He found Gabriel trying to run away but he was caught and handed over to the authorities before he could get away.
The man was confused as to what had happened. They had all seen the bright light which was followed in the sudden change in atmosphere which didn't fit the new weather.
His eyes scanned the scene and his blue eyes found its way to her.
No matter what happened he always found her but he never thought he would find her in such a way.
He didn't even have to fully see her, just being able to see Chloe on her knees and crying over a bloody body beaten black and blue, he knew what that meant.
Bruce lost Marinette.
The man could clearly remember the day Marinette was born, it also happened to be the day that his partner died and it was the reason why Marinette never liked celebrating her birthday. It didn't help that Marinette turned seventeen first thing this morning.
Bruce lost his daughter
He knew that torture she went through and if this was going to give her the peace she had always wanted then he would let her be.
Io0She had been fighting all her life from the day she was born without even intentionally doing so, and she was finally going to be able to rest.
Bruce lost all of his girls
He walked over to the two girls, making Abrielle look up at him and he could see her teary face and her tears that wouldn't come to an end but he didn't say anything. Chloe stood and moved away from the body and cried silently to herself as she felt the Kwami comfort her and cry to themselves too.
He kneeled down to look at his daughter and let a bitter smile overcome his neutral facial expression. Oh how he wished she could be alive to see that she finally did it, she actually won but the price?
Her life.
He looked at her bluebell eyes that was no longer filled with happiness, it was cold and a void of what she used to be.
The elder man closed her eyes and once he knew they were finally closed, he placed a gentle kiss on her forehead knowing that would be the last time he showed his love and affection to her even if she didn't know it.
He loved her with everything in him but he lost her, so he lost everything in himself too.
"You did it."
He congratulated her knowing she couldn't hear anything anyone said.
"Well done Marinette."
A father lost his daughter, and what was a father without his baby girl?
You have to give Bruce some time to find an answer to that.
They won, yes they did.
But they also lost.
Marinette lived for others and never for herself, she was destined for this life. It only ever made sense that she left helping others. She just couldn't help herself.
Marinette was no longer breathing, a still heart that was no longer beating with life.
Marinette Martha Wayne was dead
She left her print in history
But nothing could and would ever change the fact that she was dead, and she was never ever going to come back.
Who was she? Everyone would learn to know about her, both her superhero self and her normal persona.
She passed away a martyr
That's who she was
The Ladybug legacy ended with her, no one after her would own the earrings or even a miraculous belonging to the Zodiac box because they too ended with her.
Marinette and Ladybug was dead.
The dead heroine? The dead Wayne daughter?
Yep, that's her and this was her story.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
