"Excuse me?!"

Alya with no hesitation came to her best friends rescue defending her with zero ounces of doubt that what Marinette just said was the truth. The brunette immediately stood with her fingers tightly wrapping around her phone, so tight that her knuckles were beginning to go white, her chair she was sitting on let out a cringe worthy screech as it loudly scrapped against the tile flooring.

Majority who heard the chair scrapping cringed at the sound but Marinette on the other hand, despite internally dying from the sound didn't even seem bothered by the uncomfortable noise.

"I meant what I said Alya and frankly, I don't see what your going to do about it."

Marinette pursed her lips slightly and tilted her head with a fake innocent expression on her face, her arms crossing against her chest.

Alya gasped.

Over their high school years, Marinette's confidence decreased majorly and a few certain people made sure of that. Her self-esteem was practically non-existent by the end of High school and that was Lila's exact goal.

So what happened to the girl who never even spat a word towards them for her to become the confident and powerful woman before them?

That's a secret they won't ever have the pleasure of knowing but for those who want to know the secret...

Marinette lost her confidence and self-esteem, but Ladybug didn't.

Ladybug actually persevered during this time period that Marinette didn't. Ladybug found her self worth but Marinette was a different story, sometimes it would be the other way round but it always depended.

The girl in front of them wasn't Marinette speaking, the person speaking was Ladybug.

Marinette had many personas and once upon a time, she denied her persona of Ladybug but now looking at the teenage girl,

Who was she without ladybug? Who would she be without the miraculous?

"You've stepped on me for all these years and then suddenly one day I was thinking and I was like 'Why do I let them trample on me like that?!' and then that lead me to right here."

Marinette pointed with her two index fingers from both her hands to where she stood rooted on the ground, her eyes flicking to where her fingers pointed to for a mere second before focusing back on the wannabe journalist who was now standing in front of her.

"Who- How dare you!"

Alya subtly stuttered over her words and before she could say anything else she was interrupted by the bluenette who she was bickering with.

"How dare I what? I'm sorry because I don't think I heard you the first time."

The words easily escaped her glossy lips and Alya seemed gobsmacked at the words she heard coming from the lips of the girl before her. Marinette had lots of patience and she knew how little amount of patience her ex-friends held. Marinette took a threatening step forward before continuing on.

"How dare I what Alya? What exactly have I done for you to be asking me that question?"

Marinette cocked her eyebrow challenging her ex-best friend who stood centimetres away from her

"Lemme rephrase that so it actually makes some sense, How dare you?"

Marinette gritted her teeth as the final few words left her lips, her bright bluebell eyes beginning to darken ever so slightly.

Alya had nothing to say after she heard that, but just because Alya was speechless didn't mean Marinette would just suddenly stop there. Oh no, Marinette continued on.

"How dare you use me?"

"How dare you bully and not only that but both, mentally and also physically abuse me?"

"How dare you suddenly leave me in the dark after everything I did?"

"How dare you think you could push me around and even-"

Marinette stumbled on her words as her dark blue eyes began to glisten in the bright lighting ever so slightly, the liquid and angle she stood added a sort of sparkle to her eyes.

"And even have the audacity to pull me along on that piece of string as if I was some random pawn in your stupid game, for as long as you did."

As she said that, her eyes were not only on Alya but they moved to the blonde male with green eyes she once adored, sitting with the group at the table, said persons green eyes squinting in confusion as the zeroed onto the bluenette.

"How dare you dispose of me like I'm some useless piece of trash because for the longest time... you truly did the best job you could in making me believe I was one."

Her voice cracked mid way through her rant but she didn't let that stop her because this is exactly what she needed, she needed this out of her system even if it was a bit overdue.

"I'm only going to say it one last time for you to properly understand and for it to go through those ears and that brain of yours, and I hope it stays and replays over and over again till you properly understand what I'm asking you here..."

Marinette sucked in a shaky breath as she blinked quickly making sure no one saw her tearing up, her posture straightening as she clenched and unclenched her jaw while her facial expressions went back to being stoic and almost near emotionless.

"How dare you."

It wasn't a question, despite Marinette desperately wanting- no needing answers as to why she went through everything she experienced the past few years of her life. Not only that but due to their actions, not only will Marinette have to face short term effects but also long term ones too.

These effects that she's endured not only in the past, but those that she'll be handling and fighting for the rest of her life.

Truly, Marinette just wanted to come to peace with herself. She wanted an answer and if it was possible, even in the slightest

Could she get an apology?

Please?

"I'm sorry but what the actual hell Marinette?"

That voice Marinette didn't even need to look in their direction to know whose face it belonged to. Her eyes darted to the source of the voice and her eyes immediately darkened and narrowed at the figure who was now out of their seat, she tiled her head to the side questioning the new person who entered the conversation/argument.

"Where's all this pettiness coming from all of a sudden?"

Marinette scoffed and let her head fall backwards as she tried her absolute best to supress a a laugh.

"How dare we? Everything you just listed is a bunch of nonsense, when we were in a relationship you were so much more different and if I can just say this so you understand why we broke up, you were much more better back then."

Adrien Agreste

Marinette was actually the one to break up with him because he was just too much to handle. Was it not him who asked for her back during their first tour day? The amount of audacity this boy holds is immaculate.

Who said Marinette needed a man anyways? Ever since they broke up, she's been doing just fine and all of her experiences she's had with boys haven't all been sunshine and rainbows, but that doesn't necessarily mean Marinette doesn't want someone to love.

In fact, one day Marinette would really like to have a healthy relationship with a loving person. Maybe just one day she'll find the perfect man or woman to spend the rest of her life with. One day.

"Our relationship Adrien?"

She scoffed once again and laughed both darkly and bitterly.

"Our relationship was practically non-existent. It was all based on lies and one sided trust, it was nothing but toxic and I wish for nothing else but to take back those months we spent together so I could go and do something that was actually worth my time instead of wasting all my love, time and attention onto someone like you."

But Adrien wasn't going to back down from this fight. He was Chat Noir a few years ago for goodness sakes! He's faced worse opponents than his ex-girlfriend who he still attempts to get back together with.

If Adrien just managed to get Marinette to see some common sense and to find the light and see that she's the one whose been in the wrong this entire time, then they could happily be a couple and she'll be Adrien once again.

Because once she's his girlfriend again, he won't let her go again.

"Adrien, you've been sheltered most of your life and ignoring the past few years you've had some freedom to go to school, you're still not fully grasping the idea of simple things. When I say no, it means no, like how many languages do I need to repeat that in for you to understand, no means no."

Marinette took in a deep breath, not wanting to lash out but really wanting to anyways.

"I've been places and have experienced more than I want but from everything, I've learnt something. Even though I hate you all with every flipping fibre I have, what you've made me endure has taught me more than enough and frankly I would like to say thank you."

Adrien blinked and back tracked at her words, his green eyes going wide thinking he misheard what she said. Did she actually just say that?

"Listen, I only came here for one reason. I want peace and the quicker I can get it the better. I'm here to thank you for what you've taught me and even though I haven't got the best mindset and thoughts, I'll get better because I am better."

"And even though I know one hundred percent that I won't get one, I'd like an apology."

She knew she'd get no sympathy or any positive reaction but it would be worth a shot before everything began to crumble to pieces.

The class burst out laughing but Marinette didn't change her posture or facial expressions, she stood waiting for them all to finish.

The two who were standing had to force themselves to sit back down due to how much they were laughing, Oh God Marinette really was too funny.

Their laughter died down and by the time that happened, all attention in the room was drawn onto the class. No one missed out on the action and frankly, even though they didn't know the whole story, it was easy to find out from afar who was in the right and who was in the wrong.

Marinette checked her nails, studying them with her full attention, she should paint them soon. Once the class fell into silence once again, Marinette began talking.

"Before I leave I just want you all to know that I'm not sure when exactly I'll see you again but let's hope I never will because God forbid if we ever saw each other again."

She scanned the boys and girls before her, their faces full of confusion but no one spoke up, neither did anyone comment on the fact that they wouldn't have to see stupid Marinette Dupain-Cheng again.

It was a relief to them really but they all couldn't help but wonder, Why?

Marinette turned around and began to walk away, her braided hair bouncing ever so slightly against her flannel as her the small heel of her boots clicked against the floor. She suddenly came to a halt, with her back still turned on her ex classmates she gave them a single glance over her shoulder with a small smirk painted on her glossy lips

"In advance, I'm sorry."

And with that, Marinette left not giving them a single spare glance. Little did they know, they wouldn't be seeing Marinette for quite some time - which is an understatement.

One question they all shared was,

What did Marinette mean by 'I'm sorry in advance'?
