《My Savior - (A Donnie x reader Fanfic)》Chapter 16 - Christmas Day

You woke up to a beam of sunlight shining on your face. You sat up in bed and stretched, but when you opened your eyes you half expected to be back in the Lair. instead you were in a sparsely decorated guest room at your dad's house.
You crawled out of bed, checking your phone as you walked to your suitcase to get dressed. The date was the first thing you noticed "December 25" your eyes shot wide open and you hurried to get dressed.
You bolted out of the guest room to the living room. Your mom and Dad were sitting on the couch, and Casey was shaking a red and white wrapped box to his ear. "Merry Christmas!" you shouted.
"Merry Christmas sweetie" your mom replied "alright Casey, you can open it now!" your Dad prompted. You sat next to Casey in front of the christmas tree as he tore open the wrapping on the gift. "WOW!" he yelled, now holding the box for a new hockey mask. "I love it! Thanks Dad!"
Your mom gave you a slight nod and you began to search under the tree for a gift with your name on it. You pulled a small blue and silver gift from under the tree and began to tear the wrapping off. You tossed the wrapping paper way to reveal bright purple sports tape.
You looked up at your mom, smile wide on your face. "I knew you'd like it!" "like it? I love it! Thanks mom!" she smiled at you kindly. You looked to Casey who was already tearing the wrapping off of another gift.
A few hours of gift giving later, it was finally time for you and your mom to head home. You gave your dad a quick hug goodbye as your mom packed your belongings into the car. Casey looked down at you "i'm gonna have to come down and visit you guys someday" he teased
"Meet your new friends you've been talking about so much" you rolled your eyes "you wouldn't like them, they actually have brains." you joked you mom shot you a playful glare "well, we'll be off. See you guys at easter!"

You got into the car and waved as your mom pulled out of the driveway. Soon enough, you were on the road back to your house. You couldn't wait to see the turtles again. You had bought gifts for everyone, even Splinter.
Unlike the ride to your dads, you just couldn't sleep. You were too excited to see the turtles. Your mom could sense your excitement. "So, what did you get Donnie?" she teased. You shot her a playful glare.
"If you must know" you began "i got him something he's been asking about for like a month." your mom smiled "almost home sweetie" you looked out the window at the familiar snow-covered streets.
Your mom pulled into your driveway no less than ten minutes later. You jumped out of the car and rap into your house, dragging your stuff up with you. Once in your room you threw your things onto your bed and ran downstairs.
"Do you need help with anything mom?" you asked, teeming with excitement. "No you can go" you squealed with delight, grabbing the gifts for the boys, and sprinted out your front door and jumping into the nearest manhole.
You ran the whole way to the lair, and when you got there you could barely breathe. You jumped the turnstile and yelled as loud as you could "IM HOME! MERRY CHRISTMAS!" you leaned back onto the nearest surface to catch your breath as the turtles ran out to see you.
Once they were sure you had caught your breath they engulfed you in a breathtaking group hug. Even Raph was hugging you! They dropped you back onto your feet, all four voices ringing out "Merry christmas!"
"I brought gifts!" you announced, pulling the large bag from behind your back. The boys faces lit up immediately. You walked over to the lounge and sat on the couch before pulling the nicely wrapped gifts from the bag.
You handed Leo his first. He carefully removed the metallic blue wrapping to reveal the Space Heroes collectors mug you had bought him. "Oh my god! Where did you get this?!" you smiled "antique shop" you admitted.

Leo smiled brightly at you as you passed Mikey his gift. He tore open the orange wrapping in a frenzy. "A book?" he questioned, giving you a confused look. "Read the title" he flipped the book around to read the title '101 ways to make pizza' Mikey smiled with delight and attacked you in a hug.
Once he released you, you reached into the bag and pulled Raph's gift out. You handed him the red bag and he gave you a confused look 'i didn't have red wrapping paper, get off my back" you teased. Raph reached into the bag, pulling the silver tissue paper out.
"How the hell did you get your hands on this?!" he yelled as he pulled a horror movie box set out of the bag. You only smiled in response "thanks!" he leaned back as you reached into the bag for another gift, knowing that only Donnie's and Master Splinters remained.
"I even got something for Splinter!" you announced as you pulled a golden gift bag out. "I'll go give it to him," Leo said, taking the gift from your hands "what is it?" you smiled "I found a jade pendant at the antique shop and i thought he would like it" Leo nodded and left for the dojo, coming out a few seconds later with Splinter trailing him.
Master Splinter smiled at you, the large Jade pendant in his hand. "Thank you, (Y/N), for this incredibly meaningful gift" you stood and bowed "you're welcome Master Splinter" you said, returning the smile.
Splinter retreated back to the dojo, and only one Gift was left. You handed the wrapped box to Donnie, smiling wide. "You didn't have to get me anything" you nodded "I saw it and just had to get it for you" you insisted, watching intently as he tore the wrapping off.
He held up the vibrant Purple sweater, a smile creeping onto his face "oh wow!" he exclaimed "i love it!!" you smiled "I knew you would!" he lunged forward and pulled you into a tight embrace.
"We actually got you something too" Leo pointed out, handing you a gift bag. You smiled "aww, you didn't have to!" you said before diving into the bag and pulling out the gift. "A camera?!" you shouted, looking at a brand new camera. "We knew you'd like it!" Mikey cried, once again pulling you into another hug. "You guys are the best!" all four smiled. "Best christmas ever!"
Almost an hour later, you and Donnie had retreated to the lab, Donnie now wearing his new sweater. "I'm glad you like my gift" Donnie smiled "I actually got you something too" Donnie admitted, pulling a small wrapped box from one of the drawers by his desk.
He handed you the box and watched as you pulled the shiny wrapping paper off "Donnie, you already got me a brand new Camera. You didn't have to get me anything else!" Donnie looked embarrassed as you pried the box open.
Laying in the box was a necklace. The main pendant was a turtle made out of tiny crystals, with two sparkling purple beads on either side. "Oh Donnie" you breathed "its beautiful! This must have cost you a fortune!"
Donnie only smiled in response, lifting the necklace out of the box and clipping it around your neck. You hugged him tightly, not noticing s Mikey snuck into the lab. As you slowly released Donnie from your grasp, Mikey coughed, alerting you of his presence.
"What do you want Mikey?" Donnie asked, slightly annoyed. Mikey pointed up, you and Donnie following with your eyes. Your jaw dropped in surprise, blush dusting your cheeks. Mikey was holding a sprig of mistletoe over your heads.
"Mikey!" Donnie yelled, blushing "im gonna kill you!" you rolled your eyes and pulled Donnie's face to yours, kissing him. Mikey snuck, not so quietly out of the lab before you released donnie from your grasp.
"Get him"

Nero Zero
Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables. It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia. All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer. What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals. ------------------------------------------------ All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead. Lightweight where it can be, heavy where it must. Thanks for reading. Cover Credits (The cover is CC-BY-NC-SA): Steampunk Spider Bracer, by Daniel Proulx.
