《The Fun Nerd || rottmnt Donnie x Reader》Chapter 21

You sit on your couch, buckled between Leo and Donnie. Their tall and protective forms seemed to cage you in, not that it was a bad thing of course. Leo slowly leaned against you with a content sigh as the three of you watched TV. Donnie rested his head in one of his hands and he leaned forward on his knees, deep in thought. You carefully place a hand on his arm and give a warm smile when he glances at you.
Leo said nothing as he sunk further into you with every minute that passed. You smile and lean your head against Leos, feeling the tails of his blue bandana tickling your shoulder.
After three hours of watching several different movies, the sun was finally setting in the sky, and it was time for you to sleep.
Donnie quietly followed you around the house as you prepared for bed, as if he were your little duckling. It was adorable to you, because he had a clueless look on his face as he slowly trailed behind you. Leo simply helped clean and even prepared the shower for you. At some point, you convinced the boys to take off their 'clothes.'
"I think it's warm enough, Leon." You giggle, walking into your steamy bathroom. A small chuckle resonates from Leo as he smiles at you. "I know, it just feels so nice, like a sauna!"
You resist an amused laugh as he leans further against your sink, relaxing.
Donnie gently bumps you from behind and you look up at him with a curious expression. He stares down at you with a blank guise, his face red and his hands shaking.
"Donnie, what's the matter?" You ask, growing concerned. He didn't look well; his face was red as a fire hydrant, and he looked you up and down with wide eyes. Donnie swallows hard as he averts his gaze. "N-Nothing. Nothing at all. Y-You shower, I'm gonna go watch TV or something." He stutters, before making a quick exit. You quirk a brow, but shrug; deciding it was likely the heat. Leo grins wide as he stands straight and saunters his way toward you. The steam caused his skin to attract condensation, and small traces of sweat were apparent across his face and arms.
You blush as he stops right in front of you, with only a few inches separating your bodies. He leans down a little and nearly presses his snout against your nose, clearly teasing you. "I'd love to stay here longer, but things can only get so steamy." He winks and leans forward the slightest bit, gently kissing the corner of your mouth. It doesn't last too long, as he pulls back so quickly you nearly missed it.
You freeze in place as he pets the top of your head and proudly strolled out of the bathroom with a sly smirk.
You slowly shut the door and undress, unable to shake the shocked expression from your face, even as you stepped in the shower and felt the warm water coat your skin.
Thirty minutes later you emerge from the cascading water and turn the shower off. You grab a towel and cover your exposed, damp skin. The bathroom was thoroughly steamed, and the warmth only made you more tired. You prepare to dry off and get dressed, but you realize something: You didn't grab any clothes.
You groan into the towel. You just wanted to go to bed.
You take a deep breath and open the bathroom door. The cold air from the hallway slaps you in the face and you begin to gently shiver. You turn off the bathroom light and tiptoe out. You didn't see either of the boys, so you felt a bit relieved.

As you step into your room, you shut the door and exhale sharply.
You flip on the light and turn, ready to grab clothes and dress, but you yelp when you see the boys sitting on the floor staring up at you with wide eyes and red faces. They had been watching something on Leo's phone, but you'd clearly interrupted. The sight of the towel sticking tightly to your damp skin as small drops of water slid down your arms, legs, and face caused both brothers to freeze. Neither knew what to do as they internally freaked out.
"I-I thought you guys were in the living room!" You yelp, gripping the towel tightly around you and slightly turning away.
"Ah- R-Right- Sorry- So Sorry!" Leo yells, shooting up and darting out of the room, abandoning poor Donnie.
Donnie sat stiff as the two of you had a stare-down. His mouth opened like he wanted to say something, but nothing came out except for a small, terrified squeak. Your face never felt so hot as you stood before him, feeling so exposed.
Donnie starts to move a bit, clumsily rising to his feet as his legs wobble. He refused to break eye-contact with you out of respect; not wanting his eyes to wander.
"I-I... sorry." He whispers with a crack in his voice. You look at the floor as he stumbles out of your room, bumping into your bedside table and the wall. He practically slams your door shut as he frantically escapes to the living room. You slowly sink to the floor and bury your head in your hands. You didn't know what to do, you were embarrassed. How could the three of you ever be in the same room again when they'd nearly seen you naked?
You compose yourself after a few minutes and dry yourself off.
After digging for some baggy and comfy clothes, you found what you were looking for, and you waste no time in slipping your fresh clothes on.
As you smooth out the shirt you wore, you sighed, knowing it was time you got to bed.
You slowly open your bedroom door. You take several deep breaths, then in a timid voice you call out. "Donnie, Leo? I'm going to sleep." When there's no response, you lower your head and slowly shuffle your way into bed. The feeling of your tense muscles finally relaxing made you sigh as you started to relax again.
You get comfortable and shut your eyes and as you start to drift off, you hear a soft voice.
"Greetings... uh, I- sorry, can I join you?"
You open your eyes and turn your head. You see Donnie peeking through your doorway, doing his best to hold all of his gear in his arms. He looked nervous and his face was still red, but he still did his best to playfully grin at you.
You smile a little. "Yeah, you can put your stuff over there." You say, pointing at the floor beside your dresser.
"Of course." He mutters, walking over to where you pointed and placing his gear that was piled in his arms on the floor.
You scoot over and make room for him. He smiles and crawls beside you. He faces you and the two of you get lost in each-other's eyes. Donnie gently pinched the fabric of your bedsheets between his fingers in an anxious fidget as he began to apologize. "Hey, I'm sorry again for earlier. We probably should've waited in the living room." He whispers. You scoot closer to him until you are only a few inches away. "No, it's my fault. Just forget it ever happened."

Donnie looks at the bedsheets and your lovely figure beneath them. He slowly flushes red. "I don't think I can." He mutters, gripping the sheets. You quirk a brow. "What did you say?"
Donnie's eyes widen, and he clears his throat. "Nothing."
You breathe deeply and cuddle up against him. He carefully wraps an arm over you and props his head up with the other.
"You know, all of this has got me thinking." He begins. You look up at him and listen with intrigue; he continues. "Who do you think you're going to choose?"
Your breath hitches as you look up at him. "U-Uh... well, I'm not really sure." You admit, trying to carefully choose the next words you were going to use. Donnie sighs quietly, looking at the wall behind you, not really thinking of anything as his teeth clench ever so slightly. You lean your head on his arm and close your eyes. "I think you're both amazing, and I'm honestly afraid of hurting one of you."
As you spoke Donnie looked back down at you and observed your features. You were like a perfectly crafted doll, practically flawless. He thought you were the prettiest thing he'd ever seen, and he was on the verge of giving into his intense emotions. As he looked at you, he yearned for only one thing.
"Either of you would be a wonderful boyfriend, it's hard to be sure." You open your eyes and look up at Donnie, who stared back at you with a longing expression. A smile traces your lips, and you reach up, cupping his face between your hands, lightly smashing it. "Who knows though? I've always had a thing for you."
You reach around his head and gently untie the knot for his mask and slip it off, folding it gingerly and placing it on your bedside table. As your hands slip away, Donnie bites his lip as his face goes red. Slowly, Donnie shifts to be over you- not on top of you- but a small lean above your form. This action makes you pause and any words you had die on your tongue as you look up at him with wide eyes and blood rapidly rushing to your face.
Donnie leaned over you with a blank expression and a burning face. Then, he bursts; unable, and refusing to hide his deeper feelings anymore. "I love you. I love you more than anything- and it hurts so bad- because I don't know if I'll be able to have you. All I've been able to think about is you, like I've never wanted something so bad and it's making me feel like a lunatic. I'm confused and scared, because I'm thinking things I've never thought before a-and I'm feeling things I never used to feel." He says, still looking down at you. "I'm a man of logic, I'm a thinker, I always have been- but you never let me think, it just feels like I'm getting jostled around in a never-ending roller coaster. When I'm with you, I lose track of everything, like nothing even matters. Then, once I finally manage to stop, you touch me, or smile, or do something that catches my attention again, making you the only thing I can think about on an infinite loop."
Donnie closes his eyes as he continues his passionate, but quiet rant. "Yet, I'd be dishonest if I told you I don't enjoy the feeling. At first, thinking of you was new... and different... and confusing for me. But now, the way my stomach flips and my heart races around you are thrilling and something I look forward to... like I'm addicted to it. I look forward to what you'll do next and how you'll drive my emotions wild."
You saw a small break in his stiff expression; a glimmer in his averted eyes that showed how genuine he was being with you.
You take a shaky breath and respond in a small whisper. "Donnie..." You trail off as he leans his head a bit closer to yours, until he was the only thing you could see.
He carefully puts one of his hands over yours and even through the gentle contact you could feel the tremor in his hand.
"Please, just let me kiss you." He pleads in a begging murmur. His deep voice made your stomach do flips as you rested beneath him.
Your world pauses for a moment as you realize what he wanted. It was clear by his trembling hands and his expression that became weaker by the second, just how badly he wanted to do this, and how afraid he was to do it as well. So, you wordlessly reach up and put your hands on his shoulders. "I love you too, Donnie and... a kiss would be great." A little smile made its way on your face.
Donnie swallows hard and you smile at the sight of his Adam's Apple bobbing in his throat as he did so. As he moved into a more comfortable position; resting on top of you with his arms on either side of your head, your face was so close to his and he just couldn't wait anymore. He takes a shaky breath and leans down. You close your eyes and let the space between the two of you shrink, until you feel his lips against yours.
Finally, after the longest wait in the world, he kisses you.
He leaned further into you, and you held his shoulders tight. As he desperately kissed your lips, your body felt like mush and your legs felt like they were jelly. Your heart was soaring to say the least.
It was a little funny, when you first met Donnie, he was so cold, colder than ice. For the longest time he avoided you and rarely smiled at or spoke to you. It took so long for the two of you to connect, but when you finally did, sparks flew. Each of you seemed to be exactly what the other needed. Now, nearly a year later here he was gently kissing you, all cuddled up with you in bed.
After a long moment the two of you separate and take a breath, then immediately press your lips together again. As Donnie held you, he felt a warmth inside that he'd never felt before, like an empty space inside of him was now full for the first time. It was almost a sickening feeling to him; he was overwhelmed by the content and relief he felt. Donnie never wanted this to end.
The kisses continued and became more and more passionate with each passing moment, and the two of you were practically glued together. Donnie gripped at your shirt as he basked in the moment and clearly emerged into his own euphoric world, to the point you thought it was getting to be a bit much.
And so, the moment had to come to an end. You pull back, pressing your hands to his chest to force distance between the two of you. "O-Okay! That's enough- let's not get ahead of ourselves." Your face burns intensely as you shakily laugh. Donnie grumbles, already longing for the feeling again, the tingling feeling in his lips didn't help either. You smile warmly and put your hand against the side of his face, rubbing circles along his cheek with your thumb. "Are you okay?" You ask. Donnie's eyes slowly flutter open as he nods, his movements clumsy and slow. You softly laugh and pull him down, feeling his plastron gently poke against your ribs. He snuggles against you once more and the two of you squish close together, still feeling consumed with the craving for more smooches.
Donnie pulls out his phone and the two of you begin to watch some YouTube in order to relax both of your raging-teen hormones. However, Donnie didn't pay attention, for the first time in years he actually spaced out while on his phone.
After several minutes, the faint hum of music, muffled voices, and sound effects made your head cock to the side with confusion. You squint as you listen a bit closer, trying to pinpoint what you were hearing. At some point, it finally clicked in your head that it was the TV you could hear in your living room. It must be on. If Leo was asleep, you knew you had to go turn it off. So, you get out of bed and exit the room.
Donnie did his very best to protest and gripped loosely at your shirt in an attempt to keep you from leaving. Unfortunately, you had to go deal with the TV, lest you want your bill to be racked up. Donnie pouts as he watches the fabric of your soft shirt slip through his fingers as you shuffle out of the room.
You walk down the dark hall and enter the opening towards your living room. The area was only lit by the TV, but Leo wasn't anywhere in your immediate sight. You walk to the couch to see if he was just laying down, but he wasn't. You stare in confusion, and get a bit worried, wondering where Leo could be when a sudden draft causes your head to turn, and you see that the front door was cracked open.
You squint in suspicion and slowly make your way to the door doing your best to be stealthy like a ninja. You push it open a bit more and peek around it.
That's when you finally see him. All bundled in his jacket, he was almost completely turned away from you as he leaned over the railing and looked out towards the city skyline.
The distant and colorful glow the city lights gave was magical. However, the old light that hung on the overhead of the staircase cast Leo in a depressing light that almost broke the illusion.
You slowly exit the apartment and shut the door behind you. The sound was obvious, yet Leo didn't turn or say anything.
"Hola, muchacho. ¿Por que estas fuera tan tarde?" You smile. Leo turns his head the slightest bit, but still says nothing back.
You walk over to him and lean on the rail beside him. "Hey, what's wrong? You usually love it when I talk in Spanish."
Leo focuses further on the skyline as he responds. "I'm scared." He says flatly.
Your face falls as you turn your body towards him a little more, showing that you were listening. "About what?"
Leo shrugs. "Everything."
You wave your wrist a little, asking for elaboration. Leo sighs and looks down towards the ground several dozen feet below. "Your ex-boyfriend trying to do something, something happening to you, no one being there to stop it... stuff like that."
You sigh and observe his face closely, it looks like there was more he wasn't saying. "Is there... anything else?" You softly ask.
Leo glances at you from the corner of his eye, and it takes him a while to respond. Unfortunately, it wasn't the type of response you were looking for. "Nothing, it's alright." He quietly says. You frown and place a hand on his shoulder. "Leo, what's wrong? You can tell me anything."
He doesn't reply. You sigh and smile, tapping his shoulder. Leo turns with a captivated expression, and you take the chance to reach behind his head and untie his mask, just as you'd done for Donnie. All you could do and all you wanted to do was to show kindness to Leo. You wanted him to feel comforted in a time he was clearly stressed.
Leo wordlessly watches you and your expressions as you work at the knot of his mask with care, not really knowing what to say.
In this moment, he started to realize how he felt, and he began to grow frustrated and upset inside that he couldn't just confront it or snap any sense into himself.
There was something else bothering him, but he didn't want to say anything. He had seen you and Donnie, and he was hit with a very hard realization. Leo isn't necessarily heartbroken; he was just feeling something new that was hard for him to accept or explain.
Once his mask is off, you place it in his jacket pocket and lean against the rail again, still waiting for him to speak.
