《The Fun Nerd || rottmnt Donnie x Reader》Chapter 16

Once Donnie got you to calm down a bit, after the disturbing discovery, the two of you got situated for bed.
Donnie removed all his accessories, his mechanical shell, mask, and hoodie. Meanwhile, you got changed in your closet. Once you came out, Donnie was standing over your bed, looking nervous.
"Donnie? What's wrong?" You ask. He looked exhausted, but his expression showed he was on-edge.
"N-nothing. Uh.. here." Donnie peels back the blanket for you and gestures for you to get in. So, you crawl into bed as he urged and look at him with curious eyes.
"Are you going to sleep on the floor like you did the other day?"
Donnie shifts in his place, trying to stay awake long enough to reply. "No, I'll sleep at the end of the bed. Personal-space is important." He says, his eyes starting to flutter closed.
So, you reach to the side of your bed and turn your lamp off, while Donnie crawls onto the foot of your bed and snags a pillow from you. You sleepily grin as you watch his silhouette curl up at the end of the bed.
And so, after a very eventful night, the two of you finally drift off into a much needed sleep.
-------
-------
Something bumps against your arm, waking you up and making you groan, then turn onto your side to avoid the disturbance.
Again, something bumps into you, but it bumps against your back this time. With a huff, you pull the sheets higher over your shoulders to shield yourself from whatever was waking you up, but that was a little late. Whatever was bumping you had officially pulled you out of your peaceful slumber.
You yawn and rub your face, then look at the time, 4:00 pm. Rolling your eyes, you yawn again and decide to see what has woken you up.
Groggily, you flip over to face the culprit; however, that may have been a mistake.
As you fully turn, you freeze as you come face-to-face with Donnie. He was still asleep and you could feel his breath against your face. It tickled your nose, causing it to scrunch-up.
In that moment, you realize that if you had shifted even the smallest bit while turning, you would've bumped your face into his. A cute thought to be sure, but not something you had been looking to happen at the moment. Your face blooms in a warm blush and you slowly back away, sitting up. As you look down at him, you realize something. You were completely bundled in the blankets, while he was outside, curled in a ball. It clicks in your brain that his face had been what was bumping against you, he was just trying to huddle against you for warmth.
You look at the sheets in a bit of shame. It wasn't too surprising you'd stolen all of them.
"Here.." You whisper, while removing the sheets from your body and draping them over Donnie, careful not to wake him.
Once he's covered, you notice his body relax as he finally has some warmth.
"Nice and cozy." You smile.
As you affectionately stare at his sleeping form, you contemplate something; however, you decide not to go through with it. Instead, you shiver. It was cold in-here.
For a moment you sit still, trying to gauge where the cold air was coming from and after a moment, you can feel a small draft behind you. Instinctively, you glance at your window, it looks to be cracked open. You squint in suspicion, but play it off as the window having knocked up when Donnie hit his staff against it earlier

You grumble and carefully get out of bed to shut the window. You rub your arms and buckle your knees together as you shuffle towards the window. Your skin feels tight as goosebumps cover your arms and legs. When you reach the window you reach your arms out as quickly as you could to shut it. As you close it, you take a glance at the broken metal pane, hoping there wasn't anything there -and lucky for you- there wasn't.
As you hear the window shut fully, you lock it and smile at the sound of it sealing. That felt better. It was definitely where the cold air was coming from.
Once you feel the room warm up, you exit as quietly as you can, letting Donnie sleep. When you shut the door, you immediately smell food and hear what seemed to be humming from your kitchen.
Eager for your morning meal, you take small silent steps as you follow where your nose is directing you.
Turning the corner out of your hall, you see Leo at your stove, hopping about as he cooked while humming to a song in his head. With an amused smirk, you walk over to your countertop and sit at a bar stool, proceeding to watch him work until he notices you.
Eventually you catch his eye and he fumbles, dropping the spatula he was holding. Leo yelps as he jumps back, this makes you laugh. Leo's face turns red and a flustered frown grows across his face.
"Don't do that! How long have you been there!?" He asks, trying to relax his nerves as he retrieves the fallen cooking utensil. You smile and lean your elbows on the countertop, resting your head on your hands.
"Long enough to realize you're humming a love song." You flutter your eyes and smile brightly.
Leo's face softens and he shyly grins back, "...Maybe."
The two of you grin at one-another for a few moments, until you see the steam behind him growing thicker. "Leo, the food's burning." You calmly point behind him and his eyes widen as he spins around and gets back to work.
You shake your head fondly and get on your phone, deciding to let him get back into his groove. You even turned on some music for him.
-------
"This is good, Blue!" You say with a full mouth and joyous smile. Leo blushes and sits beside you to eat his own plate of food. "Really?" He asks a little sheepishly. "Yeah! You're a pretty good gook." You chirp. Leo grins and relaxes, becoming his chill-self again.
As the two of you watch gaming videos and eat a nice breakfast, Donnie finally emerges from your room.
He stumbles in, looking like hell warmed-over. Somehow he looked more tired than he had when he initially went to bed.
"Hi, Donnie." You say softly as he slowly waddles over with eyes half-shut. You feel your face start to burn, "How cute.." You whisper as he finally reaches Leo's side.
Here ensues one of the most flirtatious things Donnie has ever done.
Donnie stands beside his brother and proceeds to just stare at Leo for a few seconds.
It was obvious that his looming stare was making Leo uncomfortable, but Donnie didn't stop.
Finally, he shifts his gaze to the food and in his delirious state, Donnie points at Leo's plate, "Where's the food?" His voice slurred a bit. Leo nods towards the stove, where more breakfast sat, ready for him.
Donnie slowly glances at the stove and there's a long pause. You and Leo just stare at Donnie in anticipation for what he might do next.

Through the silence, Donnie's next move became clear. "Coffee." He huffed.
Without any warning or even a request, Donnie stumbles to your coffee maker and starts fumbling around with the machine, along with water and a bag of ground coffee. However, when Donnie goes to put a heaping scoop of ground coffee in your toaster, you scramble over to him.
"Ok, Ok, Ok! Here, I'll help. Let me see the-" You begin to reach for the heaping scoop he held, but Donnie pulls the serving spoon back and sleepily looks down at you.
"You're so pretty.." He whispers with love-struck eyes as -without even looking- he pours the scoop of ground coffee into the proper place in the coffee maker. You stammer incoherent sentences, not really knowing what to say. Then Donnie leans in and clumsily boops his snoot against your nose, similar to what you had done to him. It's at this point that your face starts burning.
Donnie smiles, looking innocent, but you could see a smug satisfaction in his expression.
You quickly retreat back to your seat and huddle close to Leo. You were in the throws of surprise; This was one of the first and only times Donnie has ever flirted with you before.
Leo sat in silence, providing you a sense of stability. However, for several minutes, Donnie continued to groggily make eyes at you as he leaned against the counter awaiting his beloved caffeine, which you prayed would snap him out of this. It may not have really been much, but for his terms, this was a level of flirting you hadn't really seen at all.
You did your best not to look at him, because his coquettish gaze and small grin made your stomach flutter and made you legs want to run.
Luckily, when the coffee finished brewing it took his attention away from you for a few minutes as he looked for your mugs and prepared himself a cup.
By the time his cup was served, you had retreated to your room to recuperate.
Donnie plops next to Leo and takes a good swig of his coffee.
A few minutes of comfortable silence pass as Leo finishes his food and Donnie sips at his coffee.
After a while, Donnie started to feel more awake and was coming out of his groggy state.
"I'm totes gonna win this bet." Donnie boasts as he takes a huge chug of coffee. Leo rolls his eyes with a fond chuckle. "Don't jinx it. You may be the 'fun nerd' in her life- but my confidence can do cartwheels over yours." Leo satirizes. Donnie huffs. "Confidence? More like a condescending, loudmouth chasing love." Donnie grins jokingly and nudges Leo's arm.
The two chuckle.
Yet, Leo prods at his food for a second, his face slowly falling. Donnie sees this and furrows his brows in concern. "What's up? You almost never frown. What's going on here?"
Leo pouts and leans his head in his hand. "Me and her have a date. I don't really know how to set one up though.. what if I mess up?"
Donnie's world slows for a minute as he remembers that Leo did in fact have a date to carry out. "Well.. I could help and I'm sure April or Mikey could help you get ready, whenever that date is."
Donnie looks down at his mug, tilting it from side to side; swishing around the liquid inside, it was obvious he was feeling dejected.. Leo looks at his brother, a twinge of guilt clawing at the back of his mind. "Maybe you should ask her out too? Make things fair." Leo suggests with a forced smile.
Donnie glances at his brother from the corner of his eye. "Maybe.."
Leo throws one of his arms around Donnie, "Come onnn! You just said you had this bet in the bag, don't blow it!"
Donnie removes Leo's arm from his shoulders. "Yes, I did say that, but that was when I didn't have caffeine coursing through me."
"Doesn't matter my friend. You need to seize your moment before it's too late, and she's out of reach." Leo gestures towards your room, giving Donnie an earnest look.
"Ok. fine! I'll do it. Get off my back, you've been acting too much like a mom lately." Donnie calmly takes a sip from his mug and Leo simply looks at him with a fond expression, then gets up to wash dishes.
After a few sips of coffee, Donnie puts his mug down and his face becomes stoic as he stares at his brother across the kitchen. In that moment he realizes this bet would change more than just someone's relationship status, Lots of things would change. It was thrilling, exactly what he loved. If he was the fun nerd, he'd make sure that stayed true. Like usual, Donnie had a brilliant idea -or a disastrous idea- who can really say.
Once Leo was finished tidying up, he and Donnie went into the living room and started watching TV. After some time, the two divert into different conversations for a while, until there's a knock at the door. Donnie gestures that he'll get it and stands up, heading for the door.
When he opens the door he's met with a familiar face.
"Oh, April! Hey..?" He says in a confused tone.
"Hi." She says, a smile plastered to her face. "Now move over-" Immediately, she runs past him and makes a b-line for your room.
Leo gives her a weird look, glancing at Donnie for context. Donnie just shrugs and shuts the door, walking over and sitting back down. "I guess (Y/n) said something to her. Not surprising." Donnie sasses.
Leo nods in agreement.
-------
"This is awesome, (Y/n)! Well, not awesome, but this is gonna be fun!" April squeals as she shakes your shoulders. You blush and giggle. "I guess.. It does feel a little weird to have two people chasing after me though. I don't want to be shallow, I don't want to hurt anyone and I don't want to make the wrong choice."
April smiles sympathetically. "It's alright, hon. I'll be here to keep your head on straight."
You smile, looking away. "Thanks, I don't know what I'd do without someone like you in my life."
"You'd be dead, that's what."
"April!" You yelp, smacking her arm. She laughs and lightly smacks your arm back. "I'm kidding.. Sort of."
You playfully roll your eyes and scoot forward. "So, what should I do. This is a real pickle I'm in." April proceeds to scoff. "No kidding, I don't know how you managed to do it- usually get yourself into some pretty deep trouble- but this? This is impressive."
You frown. "I take great offence to that." April quirks a brow at you. "Am I wrong?"
You sigh and shake your head in defeat. She gives you a soft smile, "Look, I'd say to take things slowly. Don't force anything and don't do anything you don't feel is best."
"That's the thing though! None of this feels the best!" You shake your hands in front of you, showing your stress. April takes your hand and looks you in the eye. "Girl, deep breaths."
You inhale sharply a few times. April continues. "I don't really know what advice I can give at this point. I never thought I'd be dealing with this sorta' thing, especially involving those two."
You frown and raise your hand. "I will smack you again." April raises her hands in defense. "I didn't mean it like that." She says with a grin and a quick adjustment of her glasses. "It's just not something I expected. I never expected either of them to fall for you, when we all first met. Then again who expects their best friends to fall for a random person strung-up by the ankles, after being attacked by a giant mutant pig-man?" Her smile brightens and you bashfully raise your shoulders. "Here we are."
You both giggle and she taps her chin. "If you ever need anything, I'll be here to help."
You snort. "Yeah, I know. Speaking of- Could you help me catch up on the assignments I missed?"
April rolls her eyes with a smile. "You know I will."
So the conversation shifts to schoolwork.
-------
Later that evening, you all ordered Pizza, and the boys went home. April stayed though, for a much-needed slumber party.
However, at the other end of town, schemes were in progress.

Dark Moon Era
When a glorious old civilization was toppled overnight, a strange purple moon rose and thus began the Purple Moon Era. Damn it! What kind of ecosystem was this? The evolution was messy. Even rabbit bites and plants were not to be messed with. How can one survive all this? Evolve into a Purple Moon Warrior? What did this have to do with the Purple Moon? What kind of map was this? The Safety Sector? The Floating Domain? The Darkness Port? The Storm Voyage? The True Capital? The Horror Lullaby List? The resurrection of the Underground Tribe and the prospering Underground City? The Chaos Black Market that suffused the world? The Bloody Road? More importantly, one could end up in a bloody slaughter when dreaming and enter the Dream Domain? Fine, this damned era!
8 535The Simulations
After ascending from his last life to become a Champion our hero has his memories locked. He is told that he must compete in competitive simulations against other Champions in order to earn enough to continue to simulate his consciousness. The competitive simulations have a variety of scenario genres, and may or may not have a game interface. The first competitive simulation our hero faces is from the Summoned Hero/Traveller to a New World genre, and is set as Fantasy Realistic - no game interface. He must ensure that the person he chose in the simulation's setup survives the end of the world in order to win. Author's note: I'm committing to one arc of four books. The arc has its own complete storyline. And each book has its own individual storyline as well. Each book also has 60 chapters, for a total commitment of 240 chapters. I'm aiming for a release schedule of a chapter every 23 hours.

In a kingdom putting together the pieces after a series of devastating magical wars, trouble is brewing. At least that's what the Seer's vague warning to Princess Lillya claims. That warning sends young Sorceress Rosaliy and enigmatic ruffian Drake from one end of the world to the other searching for answers (and lost magical children). The Destiny Detour is third in the Black Pearl Series, but the events of this story occur 10 years after the first two, and it focuses on different characters in the world. It should be able to stand alone. If you are interested, the beginning of the series is available on Amazon and most e-book places: https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B01AYLLKK8
