《Out of My Control [bxb]》Chapter 38

Marisa's plan wasn't the greatest, but it was a plan nonetheless.

Apparently, Marisa has gym class before Alyssa and they sometimes cross paths which is how she knows.

With not being able to keep your phone on you during gym class- for obvious reasons- everyone keeps them in their backpack. However, if they're smart enough, they'll put their phone in their locker.

We're banking on Alyssa being not smart enough to secure her phone.

Another potential problem is that the teacher

locks the locker room door once the students are out and dressed. Marisa's plan is tell the gym teacher- during Alyssa's class- that she forgot something in the locker room. And hopefully the teacher will open it for her.

"What if you get caught?" I ask anxiously.

They all roll their eyes at me.

The five of us were in the basement's bathroom before first period, going over the plan. It smells of marijuana again. I could practically get high off the sent alone.

Alex is doing his regular pacing. The girls are standing by the door- Jessica looking outside the door every time she hears a noise- Grayson is acting cool as ever (and looking sexy as ever).

Preston is also here... in a sense. He's shining through my iPhone screen that is propped up on the dusty bathroom counter. Suspension's a bitch.

And I am anxiously leaning against the wall, next to my beautiful boyfriend, and biting my thumb nail.

I don't want Marisa getting in trouble for me. Not only from the administrators but from Alyssa. I have a feeling Alyssa's acrylic nails are sharper than they look and she's not afraid to use them to scrap ones eyeballs out.

I'm scared of my ex, what can I say?

Grayson pulls my hand away from my mouth.

"The worst that's gonna happen is she'll get a detention," Jessica discloses, waving my statement off.

"I'll be fine," Marisa promises. "I'm just going to sneak in, and take pictures of the pictures she has on her phone. Easy-peezy," she smiles broadly.

"Will that be enough?" Alex questions. His own plan is to go speak to McKenna during lunch. Though I'm not too sure what that'll do.

"I don't know," Marisa dejectedly speaks.

"But it's worth a shot," Grayson adds. His tone is determined. "And remember to take pictures of her messages."

"She might've deleted them," Preston comments through the phone.

"At least we have the picture of Colton's messages from his phone. Oh, I'll need her password though," Marisa says.

They all turn to look at me.

I scoff and cross my arms, "What, you guys think because I was with her for a week I know her password?"

"Yes," four of them say in unison while Grayson says, "with your nosy ass? For sure."

I wack his arm, though he's not wrong. "Fine. It's her birthday; 0612. Geez."

Preston snorts, "basic."

"Yours is 1, 2, 3, 4, idiot," I roll my eyes at him.

"No. It's 1, 2, 3, 5," he says smugly as if that's better. Then to explain his genius password, he adds, "so when people guess '1, 2, 3, 4' they'll be wrong."

We all roll our eyes at him this time. Not that he could even see us.

"Anyway, first period starts soon so we should go," Jessica suggests before turning to Marisa, "Just don't get caught and good luck." Then she does the most unexpected thing imaginable.

Jessica leans in and presses a kiss to Marisa which Marisa happily returns.

My jaw drops, but I'm grinning at the same time. My grin is as wide as my eyes and the rest of the boys are sharing the same expression.

Marisa and Jessica look at all of us like we're the ones they should be questioning and "what?" Falls out of their mouths at the same time.

"Umm, hello? When did this happen?" I asked almost squealing from how ecstatic I am for them.

"I fucking knew it," Grayson says cheerfully.

"I'm speechless," Alex's shocked expression still remaining on his face.

"What just happened?!" Preston asks frantically. "I can only see the stupid toilets!"

"Jessica and Marisa kissed..." I tell him but it came off as a question.

"Nice!" Preston shouts.

"Oh, we thought y'all knew," Jessica shrugs.

"Why do you think we knew and were excited about going to that LGBTQ+ store?" Marisa queries but there's a hint of a 'duh' to her tone.

"I don't know, I thought you guys just liked having two gay best friends," I laugh and they do two.

"Well, yeah, but we've been together since we were like..." Jessica turns to Marisa, her eyebrows drawn together. "Fourteen?"

"Yeah," Marisa smiles, "the summer before our Freshman year."

"Wow, I love that for you guys," I tell them.

"I totally knew it," Grayson says again while swinging an arm around my shoulder.

"Am I the only straight one here?" Alex asks.

"You have Preston," I offer.

It was so quick, I barely caught it, but I think I

saw Alex glance at my best friend through my phone real fast before saying, "That's true. Let's get to class," he changes the subject.

We all turn to leave and I grab my phone, "bye Preston."

"Wait!" Preston exclaims, "please don't hang up! I'm bored. Bring me to class with you!"

The girls and Alex chuckle before heading back upstairs.

I scoff "yeah, no thanks."

"Please, please," Preston continues to beg. "I won't make a sound! I'll just-"

Grayson hangs up the phone. "Does he ever shut up?" Grayson mutters, taking my hand and walks us out.

I chuckle, "no, unfortunately."

Grayson's hand presses down on my thigh to get me to stop bouncing it under the table. "Babe, chill," he tells me.

"Sorry," I say sheepishly and begin tapping my foot instead. Grayson sighs and returns to eating.

It's lunch period now and Marisa has yet to show up.

"What if she's with the principal and gets suspended for going through someone else's property? Or Alyssa did something?"

"What would Alyssa do?" Grayson asks me looking at me like I'm an idiot. Okay, maybe I'm over thinking.

Jessica scoffs, "Marisa would win in a fight against Alyssa."

"I'd pay to see that," Alex comments. Although, he's not too engaged in our conversation as he searches the cafeteria. "Finally," he mutters then tells to us, "I'll be right back," before getting up from his seat. He walks towards the girl he's been looking for ever since our lunch period started. (Literally five minutes ago).

"I don't know why he even bothers," Grayson says while him, Jessica, and I watch Alex go up to McKenna.

"I wanna hear what she has to say," I tell them before standing up and walking over to Alex and McKenna. Alyssa was not here yet.

"Wait!" I hear Grayson and Jessica shout to me.

"Alex, why aren't you sitting at our table anymore?" McKenna asks innocently. Then when I step up to them, she says "instead of sitting with him. The traitor."

I scoff, "really?" I question and want to go off on her, but Alex starts to speak.

"Traitor? For what? Being gay?" He asks genuinely wondering. He lowers his voice, "I know it was you and Alyssa who took the photos. And you texted Colton to out Reid and Grayson. I saw the messages on Colton's phone. Why would you do that, McKenna?"

I've never seen Alex look so... crushed before. Like finding out his favorite super hero is really the villain.

McKenna expression morphs rapidly to three different look. First being shocked, then nervous, then confusion. "What do you mean, 'why'? Don't tell me you're okay with this," she gestures to me and Grayson, who's now next to me along with Jessica.

"I am. Of course I am. I really, really wanted you to say that you regret it. That you wished you never did it and you feel horrible. But you don't, do you?"

"Alex, how are you not on my side?" She asks looking more confused than ever.

Even though I'd love to yell at McKenna and I'm sure Grayson would love to cuss her out as well, we stay quiet. I think we feel Alex needs this explanation from McKenna more than us.

"If you think I'd ever be on your side for something like this, outing someone to the whole fucking school. Then you don't know me at all," Alex says sadly.

McKenna has tears in her eyes, but I don't think those tears are for what she's done, those tears are for the consequences from what she's done. Losing Alex.

"Did you know that my sister's gay?" Alex asks her.

McKenna opens her mouth to speak, but nothing comes out.

"What's going on?" Alyssa asks coming up to us. She looks at Grayson and I in disgust. Grayson flips her off.

"What's going on is, you and your side bitch are about to be in a lot of trouble!" Marisa walks proudly up to us, a smug grin on her face. She tosses me her phone. I catch it. "Got all the evidence we need." She faces Alyssa. "I'd put your phone in your locker during gym, if I were you. Wouldn't want anyone to go through it," Marisa smiles sweetly. We've drawn a crowd around us at this point.

"What the hell?" Alyssa exclaims then searches her backpack only to find her phone in the front pocket."You can't do that!"

"Oh, but I already did. Also, did you know that in the state of Florida, even as a minor you can get charged for child pornography. And being as Reid is only seventeen..." Marisa mocks sympathy, "it's not looking so good for you, sweetie."

McKenna and Alyssa are physically scared now. Practically quaking in their shoes.

"Unfortunately, there's no evidence that McKenna was involved, but we got enough on you," Marisa taps Alyssa's nose.

Alyssa looks like a fish out of water at this point. Her mouth opening and closing, not knowing what to say. But she doesn't have to because over the intercom we hear, "Alyssa Hayes, please report to the front office. Alyssa Hayes to the front office."

Mortified is an understatement for Alyssa. She's shocked and trembling, face redder than a fire truck.

There's so many "Oooo"s and laughter all around us. I'm sure I'll see some version of this on everyone's social media stories soon.

"Hey Alyssa," Grayson calls to her before she can walk away. "You hair's looking greasy and a little flat, I'd do something about that before going to jail." Then he flips her off. Everyone laughs even more.

She turns around and sobs as she runs out of the cafeteria. McKenna going after her.

"She's not gonna go to jail," Jessica says laughing.

"Yeah, but it was nice to scare her and tell her, her hair is flat. I feel better now," Grayson smiles and kisses me on the head.

I laugh and shake my head.

I also had to go to the principals office as well as Grayson. I guess Marisa went straight to the principals office after taking photos of the contents on Alyssa's phone and explained everything. So now, Grayson and I are in the office with Alyssa, the principal, two police officers. Alyssa's mother is also here.

I saw McKenna sitting outside the principals office.

"This is ridiculous!" Mrs. Hayes yells. "How dare you accuse my daughter!"

"Look at the photo! And the texts!" Grayson yells back, gesturing to Alyssa's phone- which was confiscated by the police. Officer Kelly is holding Alyssa's phone. The other Officer- Officer Bradley- is mainly taking notes.

"Alright, alright," Officer Kelly says in his mighty cop voice. "Look, Ma'am," he speaks to Mrs. Hayes. "with your daughter being a minor, the most she's gonna get is community service."

Mrs. Hayes scoffs.

Alyssa still hasn't stopped crying since she left the cafeteria. Her face shamefully in her hands. When she looks up- mascara running down her cheeks- she tells the officers, "It wasn't even my idea! It's McKenna's fault! She texted Colton and put to picture in Reid's mailbox! Not me!!"

Grayson and I exchange a look, both of us a little shocked she outed McKenna. Actually, I shouldn't be surprised.

"Unfortunately, we don't know that," Officer Kelly says then scrolls through the photos on Alyssa's phone. "We do, however, see the pictures of these young men..." Officer Kelly clears his throat, "being intimate with each other on your phone."

I almost choke from how embarrassing this is. I haven't even seen all the photos they took yet. Let alone the angles they took them in. Oh God. My face is burning, I don't even want to know how red it is.

"McKenna has pictures on her phone too!" Alyssa confesses, excited to place blame on someone else.

Officer Kelly sighs, "alright, bring her in here."

We were all in there for another two hours before Grayson and I were allowed to go and were able to leave school early.

They did find more pictures on McKenna's phone (embarrassingly so) and they'll both be charged. Officer Kelly gave them each a yellow slip of paper that had their court date written on it.

"They'll probably just get community service, or a fine," I say, laying next to Grayson in his bedroom.

"Hopefully both," my boyfriend mutters then pulls me closer to him.

I chuckle, remembering earlier, "I can't believe you told Alyssa her hair is greasy."

Grayson laughs, "and flat."

I laugh as well. I feel like I'm finally at peace. The past few days have been horrible, but today Alyssa and McKenna got what they deserve.

Now, I can just bask in this calm moment with Grayson. I hope this moment lasts forever.
