《The Mafia's Stolen Daughter》29

Part of me was like don't do it Aub.
The other part of me said just go for it.
So that's what I did. It's May now. I completed all of my classes and got accepted to UCLA. For the past six months I've not only grown closer to my family but I have become stronger.
Physically and Mentally.
My past doesn't define me anymore. One of my New Year's resolutions was to learn how to protect myself.
Word had got around that my family has found me and mafias around the world started to cause trouble. I was under 24/7 protection for a few months but Dad finally gave me some freedom about a month ago. Mom just had her baby a week ago, her name is Gianna Sofia. She's a beautiful handful.
On another note, I took up kick boxing. I have muscles now! And I've gained a few pounds and look a lot healthier. My hair is thicker, my skin glows and I got my period back after it was gone for a few months.
I also learned a lot of Italian. Once I learn something it sticks with me. I got tested and I do have a photographic memory and an IQ of 160. I still have very vivid nightmares some days of the abuse but other than that I'm much happier.
I get ready for the day. I shower and pick out my outfit. Today was Lorenzo's graduation. He didn't want to do online school so he went to a private high school here.
After getting dressed I curled my hair and went to see everyone in the parlor, all dressed up.
"It's someone's big day!" I smile, giving my big brother a hug.
"Thanks Val." He smiles.
I ruffle his hair and he looks at me like I'm crazy. "I just did it, Valentina," he whined.

I laugh, shaking my head, and see Marina. She was leaving later tonight for Paris. I was sad but this was her dream, so I'd allow it. She was a mess for the first few months after we got back because her fiancé had died. No one knew they were going to get married, I was the only one she told. She was pregnant on top of all of that, and he was just born a few weeks ago. Little Leonardo Matteo Romano.
Marina has been doing a lot of online work and is opening her business in Paris, she's lucky to have all of Dad's connections. Her baby wasn't going to stop her dreams, she was so happy.
I walked up to Momma and took Gianna from her. "Hello baby," I cooed.
She grabbed onto my hoop earring and I squealed. Venice helped me out and I was
A-Okay.
"Come on everyone. Time to take some photos."
Summertime.
Now, my favorite time of the year. We were all on a vacation to Bora Bora.
Marina bought me a bathing suit from he collection: Giovane Fiore (young flower) and I'll tell you, it's beautiful. But I could never wear something like this. My scars are now a bunch of faint white lines and I got some treatments, but I was still insecure.
"You have to wear it. It looks so cute on you."
I looked in the mirror again. I did feel quite beautiful, especially with all the working out I've been doing.
"Fine. Only for you though," I say with a smile. I put some clothes over it and we leave the hotel room with Leonardo. We meet up with Venice and eat at the breakfast buffet.
"Mama and Dad are at the resort and the boys are checking out the pool. They want us to meet them," says Venice.

"Okay lets go then!"
We arrive at the pool and swim for a bit.
"Guys, I'm gonna go to the rest room. I'll meet you back in the hotel room," I say, wrapping a towel around myself.
I walk to the bathrooms and before I know it I am pushed against a wall.
"Hello sweet thang," the guy whispers in my ear as he practically gropes me.
"Get off me ashole!"I scream and then I punch him, breaking his nose. For good measure I knee him where the sun don't shine.
"Little b!tch!" He groans.
"I know I'm one, just not yours. Get a life," I remark.
And then I walk away.
He really has no idea who the hell he's dealing with. I'm not the weak girl I used to be...

Note: Slight edits to early chapters (and removal of one chapter - previously chapter 2) have been made 2/2/21 The city, my city, had once been alive in a way that was hard to describe. Thriving, active, hopeful. Vibrant. But life, as I had come to learn, sometimes possesses only the most tenuous of grasps. Finally, in the end, it became my city - mine alone. I was, after all, the only one left. Worse, it was entirely my fault. There was red in my ledger that could never be wiped clean. Not while I still lived, anyway. This story follows Eran, a man who became the opposite of everything he had ever wanted to be; in a world where superpowers began to appear in a rare few, his lack of control over his own power relegated him to the role of a terrible villain - the Reaper, named so for the countless lives that he absorbed and made his own, each only furthering his deadly lack of control. Gone mad with guilt and isolation, he strove for a single heroic act - his own demise. Death was less permanent than he hoped. Centuries later, he woke to a changed world and in a body not his own. Unfortunately, his power came with him. Yet this time, things would be different. This time, he had a chance to bring it under control. He could never truly make up for the things he had done; he could never achieve redemption. That wouldn't stop him from trying to be a hero. Parasitic Sword Monarch.
Cultivators rule the multiverse, this is an indisputable fact, their ability to control the various elements and concepts grant the mightiest among them the right to stand tall above creation, dominating man and beast alike. Countless legends and mighty figures are spread throughout the multiverse, but none of this matters to the young boy born into a slowly declining clan in one of the larger universes. To him, all that matters is the safety of his clan and his family members, to reach that end, he would even wield the world itself as his sword and point the tip right at the throat of the heavens.

Path of Righteousness
What do you desire? What are you afraid of? You run away from one, pursuing the other. Is that all you are? Conquer your fears. Dig to the bottom and confirm, what you really want... ...For you cannot escape suffering and death. You only have a little time. Use it wisely. Uru, a young boy with no talent for magic or fighting, sets out on a quest to become an avatar of order, the physical embodiment of righteousness, in a distant future, where control of origin energy allows people to defy physics and manipulate causality. Mocked by fate and broken by impossible dreams, all that's left is to stand in defiance to cruel existence. Because there is a Truth out there, somewhere. Singular, transcendent, eternal. What would you sacrifice for it? *** This is a fantastic sci-fi epic. It's going to blend both western and eastern traditional fantasy tropes – like might & magic and cultivation – with rational sci-fi grounded fully in reality, to produce a purely fictional fairy tale. I'd like to deliver something light-hearted and yet wholly serious. An uplifting adventure exploring the unfathomable reaches of humanity, free of indecency, with a healthy dose of humorous banter, legendary beings, and most importantly – lots of exciting, firework-filled mayhem! I've tried reading many web novels, but there's a fundamental problem with them – the eastern ones are annoyingly repetitive, superficial and morally destitute, while western ones are often dark, convoluted and profane. There's only so much one can do to filter out the bad and try to fill in the gaps with their own imagination. It's one thing to eat tasty fast food, but if it's moldy and filled with toxins, then it's not only poisonous, but also disgusting. The appreciation of beauty and higher values is disappearing at an alarming rate. Although there are throngs of talented people out there, none of them are creating what I want to witness – an inspiring battle against impossible odds, ending in absolute victory. A triumph of the spirit so overwhelming, it crushes the spectator into his seat and takes his breath away. I'm looking for a real paragon, so now I'd like to try conceiving one. *** The MC's name comes from Tolkien's Elven dictionary in Silmarillion, 'Uru' meaning 'Fire', and 'Dagnir an Uruloki' meaning 'Slayer of Dragons'. *** Note: I'm neither a native speaker, nor an aficionado of literature – I've never written anything before, and despite proficient English my literary prowess is abysmal. It therefore takes me a painful amount of effort to polish the chapters and bring them up to par. Last year I wrote and posted some on FictionPress, but I stopped since it wasn't going anywhere. The appalling amount of filth and mediocrity being peddled in all the media nowadays – a result of no conspiracy to manipulate the masses, but plain supply and demand – is no longer just the triumph of form over substance, but most worryingly corruption of the latter. Who wants to read about ideals anymore? And yet, masses flock together to gobble up perversion and depravity. That being said, I can't rule out pitiful exposure as the culprit to my failure, so I am now once again trying to increase it here, possibly for the last time. If there are still human beings present, hungry or in need of a detox after eating too much garbage, make yourselves heard, so I can see a reason to continue the story. Otherwise it's pointless – I'm not going to make fodder for the masses, and I'm most certainly not going to throw pearls before swine. I'll simply stop writing altogether.
