《Mr. Boss | ✓》XLVII

Jimin turns around one last time to look at the café, that doesn't look half as lively as it generally does and hopes he's done the right thing.

As he allows his body to carry himself onward, he tries to ignore the muddled mix of emotions churning within him. He's glad that Jungkook and you have finally got a chance to talk, even if it was as a result of getting locked in without warning. He's excited for the two of you. He's positive you'll make things work. But.. he feels a certain heaviness in his chest that he can't seem to shake off. A sadness that grips his heart tightly.

On reaching a bench, he sits down carefully and immediately feels the cold of the metal seep into his skin. He looks out into the black ink-like water of the sea, watching the waves do their dance as they crash into the shore and then quickly rush back, it all seems so pointless.

He's so engrossed in his own sorrow to notice as someone sits beside him, not even when the bench lets out a little whine due to the added weight on this new arrival.

"What a beautiful night. Look at the stars above wink at us." the voice that speaks is claerly feminine and carries an undertone of happiness as it sighs in delight. Yet, it's not enough to grab Jimin's complete attention. "Certainly, not a night to be sulking around."

Jimin sighs.

"Oh. It's the matter of the heart, isn't it?" His head whips around to face the girl sitting beside him. He notices that she's left a safe distance between them, which he's grateful for. He immediately notices that even though she's asked him a question the confidence in her voice says that she knows the answer to it.

"H-how did you know?" He finds himself asking her before he can stop himself. She merely smiles at him knowing she's right, but that only seems to annoy him more. If she noticed the scowl on his face she does a good job not reacting to it.

"I must let you know that I have a PhD in the subject of heartbreak, rejection and disappointed." She sniggers at her poor attempt at a joke. Her smile soon dims as she utters, "Pain's been an old friend of mine."

She must be crazy, Jimin thinks to himself as he turns back to stare at the ocean.

A silence falls between them as the girl swings her legs back and forth slowly, gently rocking the bench. "Does she.. or he, whichever way you swing, know the way you feel?"

Yet again Jimin finds himself responding my nodding his head. "She doesn't feeling about me the way I feel about her."

"What do you love about her?" The girl's voice in gentle and somehow she doesn't come across as intrusive.

"Her eyes. The way she smiles at little things. The way she's always herself.." Jimin stops himself and looks at the girl beside him. He really looks at her this time.

Her eyes are smaller than yours but they hold a kindness that feels almost tangible. Unlike your unruly black curl, her hair is brown and straight..

"Mr.. um.. Mr.." she trails off.

"Park Jimin."

"Ah right!" The bright smile returns. "Mr. Park Jimin, can I ask you a question?"

"You already did."

"Oh." Her lips form a circle at the realisation. "Another one."

"Go ahead."

"Do you like cheese?" She asks without missing a beat. He blinks at her in disbelief, his lips slightly parted. She urges him on by raising her eyebrows. "Well? Do you?"

She definitely crazy.

"Um.. I guess so." He shrugs.

"That's good because I'm going to sound very cheesy." Jimin almost laughs at that, but the heaviness in heart stops him. Instead he gives her the smallest smile.

"Whatever you're feeling right now will pass. I know, at this moment you feel like the emptiness in your heart will always remain that way but trust me when I say: things get better."

She tilts her head to the side trying to get a better look at his face. When she does gauge his expression she knows she's safe to continue. "The faster you allow yourself to move past this incident the faster things start getting better. What's meant for you will always find its way to you, so you shouldn't worry about it."

"Thank you." Jimin's voice is barely audible but the person it was intended for, heard it loud and clear.

"I guess I should leave now. I came here to meet my best friend so we could go home together but look at what I ended up doing." She smiles getting ready to leave.

"Hey! Wait a minute." Jimin calls out. Shoving his hand into him pocket, he pulls out a small velvet box and hold it out to her. She's frowning unable to understand his gesture, as his gaze moves from the small box to her face. "Take it, please."

"I can't.."

"I got it for her but now it's of no use to me. So, please."

"Now it seems a 100 times worst to accept it."

"My only other option is to chuck it into the sea and I can't bring myself to do that. You can keep it or just throw it away for me. It doesn't matter either way."

Tentatively, she reaches her hand out to take the small box from him. Upon opening it she finds a delicate white gold necklace with a pendant in the shape of a dove. "Are you sure about this?"

Jimin merely nods his head and continues to stare out at the sea, watching it's waves dance rhythmically. As he recalls the conversation he's had with the girl.. the girl... He never got her name.

Springing to his feet, he looks around frantically. How could he be that stupid? She had given him advice and somehow surprisingly made him feel better, all that and he hadn't asked for a name. Roughly running a hand through him hair he swears under his breath.
