"I can't believe you did that to me." Jungkook hisses.

"Did what?" Y/N looks at him innocently but the mischief in her eyes is hard to miss.

She hands him a dish and he gets to wipe it dry with the kitchen towel. He had offered to help Y/N wash the dishes because the last thing he wanted was to be stuck in the same room as her grandma without the safety of Y/N. He hated to admit it but the elderly woman scared him a little.

Y/N holds out another wet plate to him and he absently grabs her hand instead. When he meets her eyes, he feels a fluttering in his heart. Some part of him doesn't want to let go but as he hears the sound of someone approaching he drops her hand and quickly gets back to drying the dripping plate.

"He can sleep in your old room, I've arranged it. Y/N you will be sleeping in my room." The elderly women say to no one in particular and leave.

"Oh that won't be necessary, I'll be leaving in while." He says to Y/N without looking at her. He doesn't want her to see the disappointment in his eyes.

"Leaving? Where to?"

"Back to Seoul."

"So you came all that way here just so you could dump me and leave? Gee, aren't you in a mighty hurry to get rid of me."

"N-No... I thought you'd like to spend some time with your grandma. That's why I brought you here."

Y/N feels her heart beat a little faster, but it's hardly a rare occurrence around this man. His words keep echoing in her head.

"Well, You're not going anywhere." His lips part about to argue but an odd sense of happiness overtakes it. "It's too late to be driving anyway."

"I don't think your Grandma will like it though." Why is he making excuses? Didn't he want to stay here with Y/N?

"Seriously? Didn't you hear what she just said?"

"She said I could sleep in your old room."

"And?" She urges him.

"And?" He looks at her confused.

"Gosh.. men.. Have you never heard of reading between the lines?"

"There aren't any lines to read between!"

"She said she arranged the room for you. Which means she doesn't mind you staying, silly."

"How is it supposed to mean that?" He looks at her confused.

"You're staying. End of story. Let me show you the room." Jungkook follows her out of the kitchen and into a room in the back.

Y/N walks in first. Her body language changes immediately as her eyes move around the room. Her lips part as she looks at something, eye moving from side to side. She shakes her head swiftly getting out of the room and attempting to close to the door behind her.

"What's wrong?" He asks.

"You can't sleep here." She says hurriedly, fingers still tightly wrapped around the doorknob.

"Why not? You're grandma said-"

"It's too dirty." She's avoiding his eyes.

"Let me see."

"No! Don't you dare."

His eyebrows quirk upwards in curiosity. There's something about her flustered state that makes him curious. He steps forward but she blocks his way with her body. He moves in closer causing Y/N to jump back in surprise and collide with the closed door. Suddenly there's no distance between them, his body gently pressing into hers as they stare into each other's eyes. His hand reaches out to cover hers which is still gripping the doorknob protectively. Their faces are only inches parts.

"Let go, Y/N." He whispers, in a low drawl. She finds her grip loosening. Taking advantage of the moment he twists the door open. She almost falls backwards but his arm circles waist catching her just in time.

Straightening up he looks in the direction Y/N had been staring before changing her mind. He feels his lips tug upwards as he eyes the pictures hanging on the wall. She lets out a sigh of defeat acknowledging the fact that the damage has been done.

"Go ahead make fun."

He doesn't say anything though. Smiling he drinks in every detail of each picture. His eyes stop at a picture of a happy couple. In the lady's hand is a bundle from which a small face peeps out. The lady holding the baby is beautiful, she has the same eyes as Y/N, her straight hair cascading below her shoulders. Looking at the man beside her Jungkook knows who Y/N gets her hair from. The man dishevels black hair sticks out at weird angles, giving him a youthful look. His eyes are two long lines as he smiles down at his daughter as if she was the most precious thing in the world.

"That's the only memory of my parents I have. The only reminded of want they looked like." She says following the line of his vision.

"Do you miss them?"

"Well, I never really knew them but sometimes I can't help but feel lonely without them, if that makes sense." As the words leave her lips she realises she's never told anyone that.

Jungkook turns to look at her, making her feel conscience of how close they're standing. "Wasn't I cute when I was young?" She says trying to diffuse the tension while pointing at a picture of a 4-year old Y/N smiling brightly.

She spreads her arms wide and falls back onto the bed the springs crying out loudly, just as he says, "You still are."

"Huh? Did you say something?"

"N-No."

She points her hand upwards. Turning around he notices, for the first time since walking into the room, paintings on the ceiling. The painting is unmistakable of a starry night sky.

"Sunghyun did that for me."

"Hmm.. but why a night sky though?" He asks as he lies down next to her, one hand behind his head.

"When I was young, I asked Granny what happened to people when they left this world. She told me they became stars in the sky. Sunghyun and I would go down to the river and try to identify which of the stars were my mum and dad. For my 10th birthday, he painted me this sky so that my parents could watch over me as I fell asleep." She stretched her hand out again and points to two bright stars. "That's them up there."

He can almost picture a 10-year-old girl staring up at this sky, looking at her parents she has next to no memory of yet finding comfort in their imaginary presence. The thought makes him smile. Jungkook never knew he could fall for someone as simple as Y/N. Someone who had a humble upbringing. Someone who never thought about what others thought hence dressed and behaved the way she found comfortable. Someone so authentic and real.

They continue to gaze up at the ceiling, each lost in their own thoughts.
