《Mr. Boss | ✓》VII

Jungkook's eyes narrow in concentration as they run along the emails in his inbox, for the sixth time in 15 mins, but don't find what they're looking for. Cursing under his breath he leans his head back staring at the white ceiling. He should probably give up, it's been a long time and he's already tried everything.

"I take it that your crush hasn't responded to any of your advances?" Jimin asks watching the fidget spinner, pressed between his thumb and index finger, as it turns into a blurry purple circle.

"Why isn't he returning any of my emails? I've tried texting and calling too!" He wonders aloud, a slight headache throbbing at the back of his head.

"Remind me again why this Choi guy is so important."

"It's Choi Jinwoo." Jungkook shots him an irritated look, he knew Jimin purposely pretended to forget his name just to drive him up the wall. "He's the best producer out there. Everything he's ever worked on has been a hit. I wanted his help to produce some songs."

"Awww.. congratulations Jungkook-ah, you're finally in love." The older man cups his own cheeks and stares dreamily at the younger who shoots him a glare that could easily burn through several concrete walls at once. Jimin drops the act and answers his question, "Has it ever occurred to you that maybe... just maybe he doesn't want anything to do with you because.. I don't know, you made out with his Girlfriend in his own house?"

"I thought he was interested in men. How was I supposed to know he likes swinging both ways?" His voice borders on defensiveness. As he continues to stare at the smooth white surface of the ceiling his mind works against his will to dig up the memory of that night.

Jinwoo was famous for his exquisite dinners that were held irregularly, the key determinant; the man's mood. Everyone in the industry wanted to be invited but only a few ever received a black envelope with the gold cursive handwriting.

Jungkook had reached home early one day, feeling a little tired or that was what he had told everyone, when his eyes fell on the peculiar envelope addressed to him. Even though he was only three years into his career he'd felt like he'd already reached the top.

On arrival at the mansion, he'd immediately understood the hype around the dinner. The food was undeniably heavenly, nothing like he'd ever had before. All attendees dress formally as was strictly required by the invitation. As the guests began to leave, he'd bowed and thanked the man profusely also preparing to leave when he was asked to stay on longer. The great Jinwoo who had taken a liking to young Jungkook said he saw pure raw talent in the boy.

He soon realised they weren't the only two in the mansion as a tall woman with a svelte figure walked into the hall. In her casual clothes, Jungkook almost didn't recognise her to be the lady who'd spent most of the dinner flirting with him.

"This is my Girlfriend." Jinwoo had said placing a light kiss on her cheek.

"I don't think we've met, young man." She extended her hand which he shook, cautiously. He could swear they'd already introduced themselves. Her eyes looked innocent yet there was something unnerving about them. Maybe it was the way in which her irises looked completely black.

"Please excuse me while I refill my drink." The older man had left the study they were in.

In a blink of an eye, she'd moved closer to Jungkook, mere inches separating them. "Aren't you a pretty boy?" She ran a long finger along the side of his face while he stood frozen unable to act. His racing heart told him this was wrong, that he should push her away. Her finger pressed against his lips as he attempted to speak.

"Shhh... we don't have a lot of time. We shouldn't waste it by talking." The hunger in her voice was mimicked by the fire that burned in her black eyes. She pushed him against the wall trapping him and hence forbidding all means of escape.

"Move." He'd spat the word out disgusted by her.

She silenced him yet again, but this time by pressing her lips roughly against his. He struggled to push her away as the shock had left his brain a muddled mess. None of his limps seemed to respond. He was helpless.

"HOW DARE YOU!!!" He heard the sound of glass shattering.

She pulled away then falling to the floor. She shook as violent sobs rocked her body. Jinwoo hurriedly approached her wrapping his arms around the poisonous snake trying to protect her from an innocent hare. She pointed a trembling finger at Jungkook and said, "He t-t-tried to k-kissed me."

He had stared at her in disbelief, his ears hearing the words yet his brain refusing to comprehend. The look of pure loathing on Jinwoo's face was enough to prove to Jungkook that night that people believe what they wanted to, and it wasn't always the truth.

After being asked to leave, Jungkook had wandered along the city disgusted with himself. He could smell her on his clothes. Hear her seductive drawl in his ears.

He'd eventually returned home, feeling dirty and violated as he sat under the shower for hours trying to scrub the shame and dirt away.

As the story eventually got out, turned and twisted to become a spicy tale for gossip magazines and media outlets, Jungkook didn't defend himself. He had learned his lesson: people believed what they wanted to. That incident had changed the person he was...

Yet, somewhere deep down he wanted Jinwoo to know he was innocent. Maybe that's why he was hell bent over getting the producer to work with him?

Snapping back to reality Jungkook groans in frustration.

Jimin lets out a hearty laugh. "Wait.. isn't this the same guy that drenched you in wine and also tried to run you over once?"

"That's it! Hyung, get out!"

He didn't have to be told twice, still laughing he gets up to leave, "Hey.. don't worry too much okay? You don't need him to make your songs a hit. I know you well enough to know that if you wrote them, they are good."

"Y/N-shi?," The receptionist calls out to you. You stop wandering around the lobby and approach her desk expectantly, hands still behind your back.

"Yes?"

"Jungkook-shi wants to see you. He said it's an emergency"

You had been wondering why you were having such a hassle free Jungkook-free morning, you knew it was too good to be true. Your smile disappears immediately. "Right.."

"He's in the boardroom."

You give yourself a pep talk on your way to the boardroom.

Don't mess up, Y/N. He'll annoy you, insult you, verbally harass you... But no matter what he does you'll do your job. And one last thing... try not to kill him. The police will be the last of your concerns when his Army of fans come after your life.

You push open the door and freeze in place, your brain completely shutting down. A girl leans against the table a few inches away from where Jungkook's seated. Seeing you she straightens up adjusting her skirt that has ridden a little too high.

"Um... I'm sorry... I-I'll just come later." Your cheeks are burning. Yet you sound more annoyed than apologetic.

"Wait," He says lazily. Leaning in close to the girl next to him, whose shooting daggers at you, he whispers something that makes her giggle giddily and she leaves soon after.

You notice Jungkook's posture relax as she leaves which confuses you but being uninterested in the way his mind works you don't ponder on it for long.

"Great! So you've ruined my morning by interrupting something very important and haven't brought me coffee. You're already failing miserably at your job." He says observing your empty hands.

"What did you want?"

He raises an eyebrow at your tone. "We, my dear manager, are going on an excursion."
