Anupama entered the house in long strides and sat down with a thud on the sofa. She released the breath she had been holding onto till now and rubbed her temples to calm her racing heart caught in a dilemma. The stern and stoic face was long gone and was replaced by fear and nervousness. She felt jittery as she had dropped a major bombshell at the Shah Household. She lacked the courage to look back at Samar's face or the rest of the kids. She was worried about Samar as he is sensitive and emotional right from childhood. He had been strangely quiet since yesterday. His appearance was unkempt and had a blank look on his face. The silence had been alarming for her. She was lost in her thoughts when she felt her soft hands being clasped. It was Devika who gave her a glass of water and side-hugged her. enquired Devika. Anupama nodded her head in no. Devika asked further. answered Anu meekly. Devika took a deep breath. She felt herself relaxing at the suggestion and gave a faint smile to her best friend. with that she walked towards her room.

Samar entered the house in a hurry as he was following his mother since she had walked out of the Shah Household. Devika smiled at the boy. She hugged him and calmed him down. She dragged him towards Anu's room and gave him a glimpse of his mother who was resting. She squeezed his hand gently. That was it for Samar, he broke down into sobs. Devika consoled the child who had been neglected and undermined in the family. It pricked her heart. She caressed him gently and soon he was asleep due to exhaustion.

An hour later Samar woke up only to find his mother caressing his hair whilst being lost in her thoughts. He snuggled into her which made her aware of the movement. She smiled. A genuine smile reached her face. She took a deep breath and made Samar sit on the bed with his head resting on the headrest. began Anupama with a certitude due to which Samar straightened up. He held her hands giving her a push to say the things that were in her heart. she trailed off.

, concluded Samar and side-hugged her.

Anupama alleviated herself. Samar's acceptance surprised her. He calmly handled sensitive matter like divorce with care and maturity. She dreaded that her decision would be deemed to be impermissible by her kids. She would be shunned as Paritosh and Pakhi were always their father's children. Anupama would soon learn about toxic relationships and would abstain from seeking validation from others for her own life. She would soon realize that she is the charioteer of her life. She held Samar's hand and indicated him to call his siblings as she wanted to talk to them.

The sound of the slap echoed through the Shah Household. Baa, had slapped Vanraj hard across his face. She had been numb to uncover such an insolent act done by her own blood. How could she blame Anupama when her own coin had flipped on the wrong side? She looked at Kavya accusingly whereas Kavya averted her eyes. said Baa in an agonizing tone. She nodded her head in dismissal. She took a deep breath and walked away to her room wanting some time to come to terms with the betrayal. Paritosh and Pakhi were caught in a tug-of-war between their parents. The happy family was falling apart. Both the kids wanted them to be together but now they were unable to comprehend the situation. A father is a daughter's first love and a son's hero. The perfect image of a father had come shattering down. They had always seen their father venting out his anger on petty things or mistakes done by their mother. It was acceptable to them yet this scandalous issue was a grave mistake. The siblings did agree that they often hurt their mother for inconsequential issues as they always considered her to be an embarrassment overlooking her responsibilities and duties just like any other mother. They failed to recognize that Anupama had done more than she could. However, like every child, they wanted a reconciliation. It is a human tendency but they wondered whether their moral conscience would allow them to see through the discomfort of their mother. Paritosh was flabbergasted when he saw through the sugar-coated lies that his father had minced tweaking away the truth. He would soon realize that his father is a self-obsessed man with a cynical nature. They looked at their father painfully and walked away. The siblings secretly wished to see their mother and have a conversation with her. Bapuji had been furious. The years of his silence had cost him his crumbling house. He wanted to push Vanraj out of the house considering his vile actions but stayed put due to the kids. He gave Vanraj a cold shoulder and walked away to his room. Dolly was ashamed of her brother for he had broken her loving Bhabhi's heart. She knew he was hot-tempered but an extramarital affair was beyond her imagination. She walked out of the house with Sanjay for the revelation now suffocated her.

Anupama had been awaiting Paritosh and Pakhi's arrival. She had been anxious as unlike Samar these two would surely create the divorce into a messy affair. The doorbell rang and there entered her kids. Samar had a morose expression on his face. She made the duo sit on the sofa and held their hands gently. She took a deep breath while looking at Samar and said,

The hold on her hand got loosened as Paritosh pulled his hand out whereas Pakhi clasped it tighter. Anupama got disheartened. said Pakhi whilst tears rolled down her eyes. said Paritosh joining in. Anupam freed her hands away and said said Anupama with a finality in her tone. The apprehensions were there but as a mother, she wished that her children really stood by her and understood her state of mind. She had seen this coming from the duo. She was dismayed and so she walked towards her room with a gloomy face. Samar looked at his siblings disappointed whereas Devika earnestly prayed that the duo would soon make the right choice but somewhere she felt a discord in her heart for the misconduct that these two used to shower on Anu. Soon with time, Anupama will realize that the kids owed her respect for everything that she has done for them. Disrespect should be intolerable and if it goes beyond the limits it is better to distance yourself.

Devika was brought out of her reverie by a ringtone. It was Vikram, her college best friend. The fantastic four as she had named them. Anupama, Anuj, Vikram, and her were inseparable in college. There was a long silence. The silence gave a way to a sour mood of Devika. inquired Vikram. replied Devika. , asked Vikram. He cursed mentally as silence was an answer to his question. with that Vikram hung up the call.

Anuj was home today. A day he kept to himself. It was his work that kept his sanity. The blinds were shut and there lay a figure on the couch who was twirling the magnets. The study was dimly lit. Anuj had just gone through the proposal that would connect him back to his motherland, Ahmedabad. The proposal was a perfect pitch yet he had been deeply thinking about something. There was a strange void in his heart due to which he wanted to avoid going back to the place where it all started. The project was definitely going to be a game-changer for his company. A representative would be a better idea and he knew better about that one person who was perfect for it. Yet there was an unsettling feeling and now only GK could help him. He blinked his eyes when the lights were switched on. It was GK who had entered the room. He caressed his hair lovingly. said Anuj irritatedly. GK sighed and adjusted the lighting of the room. Anuj took a deep breath, and said, GK held his hands and said, Anuj looked away and said, finished Anuj, in a piercing voice, keeping his head in GK's lap. said Anuj closing his eyes. This was their thing. It has been a long time since he snuggled to GK like that. Sleeping in GK's lap gave him solace.
