《MELODY》SEVEN/ THE RIGHT ONE

It was Sunday morning and Khari didn't have anything planned for the day. He decided to go to his kitchen and make some breakfast.

He threw the comforter off of his body and stretched. He walked into his bathroom and washed his face and brushed his teeth. He went back into his room and looked in his closet on what he was going to wear for the day. He picked out a grey Nike sweatsuit and his white Air Forces. He walked to the kitchen and began cooking his breakfast, making himself an omelette with bacon, tomatoes and cheese. Once he was done he poured himself a glass of Orange Juice and sat in his living room. He turned on Netflix and watched Lucifer.

Once he was finished eating he put this plate away and walked into his room grabbing his towel and heading into the bathroom to shower. Khari washed his body and his hair and beard. Making sure he was groomed properly. Once he was finished he wrapped his towel around his waist and ran to his room trying to avoid the cold air. He motioned his body and began putting on his clothes.

While he brushed his hair and beard he listened to DaBaby. As he rapped along his phone vibrated and stopped the music signaling that he was getting a call.

"Hello?" He questioned since he didn't look at the caller ID.

"Yo lil nigga." He heard his older brother speak. "What you doing today?" He asked.

"Nothing, I was thinking about going to the gym. Why what's up?" He asked putting him on speaker so he could continue brushing his hair.

"You tryna go grab something to eat?" He asked.

"I just ate but shit you paying?" Khari asked.

"You the big baller, I thought you was paying."

Khari rolled his eyes. "I'm picking you up or you scooping me?" He asked.

"You can pick me up." His brother said before hanging up.

Khari shook his head at this brother. When Khari was finished he put on his shoes and grabbed his watch and wallet. He believed a man should always have two things; his wallet and watch. All the other things were just extra.

He grabbed his car keys and walked out of this house. He connected his phone to the Bluetooth and blasted J.I. . He rode through the streets to his brothers house. He didn't live too far so it was a light drive. Once he reached his house Khari called him telling him to come out.

Khari wasn't paying attention until he heard a slight knock on the door. He looked up seeing his brother and his mom. Khari scrunched his face up. He unlocked the door for his brother but kept the back door shut so his mom wouldn't get in.

"Khari, open the door. We not doing this shit today." Langston told him.

"I ain't paying for her."

"I'll pay for her, just let her in." Langston begged.

Khari sighed and pressed the button to let his mother in.

"Thank you son." She thanked Langston. She put her seat belt on and sat back in her seat. She looked over at Khari. "Khari." She said sternly.

"Lisa.." he spoke.

"I'm your mother. Don't refer to me as my first name, respect me."

"Tuh." He laughed. "Get out." He insisted.

"Khari." Langston gave him a knowing look.

"What? She wanna come in here with her bull shit, she can get out. This my shit." Khari began. Langston continued to give him the look. Khari sighed and started the car and drove off. The ride was silent, Khari didn't say a word to his mother and she didn't say anything to him.

Khari and his mother never got along. She always favored Langston and it was obvious. Ever since they were young she treated Khari like trash. Ever since his dad left her for another women. She didn't want to keep him but his aunt insisted. She would hit him because he asked for something so little as a piece of candy, she abused him physically and mentally. She told him almost everyday that he was worthless. Khari tried his best when he was younger to get her to love him but she refused. Langston tried to get them to get along but it never worked out.

As Khari drove he could see out of his peripheral that his brother was texting someone.

"So Khari, hows poetry?" His mom asked.

Khari ignored the women, pretending that she didn't even exist. He knew her question wasn't genuine, he just watched her wait for an answer and when she didn't get one she grew frustrated, Khari grinned feeling successful.

It was now 12:27 once they made it to the restaurant Khari got out and unlocked his brothers car letting him out. They began walking. Langston didn't realize that his mother didn't get out of the car.

"Khari! Let me out of this damn car!" She banged on the window. Khari grinned trying his hardest not to laugh.

"You so damn childish." Langston shook his head snatching Khari's keys from him and unlocking the door, letting their mother out of the car.

"She could've just pushed the button on the inside. I swear y'all niggas slow" Khari muttered. He walked into the restaurant and told the hostess that it'll be three. Thankfully they didn't have to wait too long for a table. The three followed behind the women and sat at their booth.

Khari sat on the opposite side of his mother and brother. They looked at their menus and wondered what they'll get. Since Khari already ate he wasn't really hungry so he just got Alfredo to go. Khari typed away on his phone while his mother brother talked about what was going on currently in their lives.

"Khari hows the company coming along?" His mother asked.

"It's cool." He shrugged as he continued to type away on his phone. His phone buzzed once more seeing a message from Julia.

Khari agreed and sat his phone down. He just looked at his brother and mother, getting along like a happy family.

"So how you been?" He asked them as he cleared his throat.

"Oh, he's finally talking to me." His mother spoke. Khari just rolled his eyes. "But I'm fine."

"Beautiful." Khari sarcastically said with a smile. "Langston?" He asked putting his attention into his brother.

"I'm good. How about you? What shawty you texting now?" He asked. Khari couldn't help but to laugh.

"I'm not texting nobody right now." Khari laughed. "I'm just going with the flow." Khari shrugged, slouching back in his seat

"Hm." Langston hummed. "What you can't pull none?" He joked.

"Please. I can pull any joint I want. Don't play with me." Khari laughed.

"Well I hope you're being safe." His mother spoke.

"Why do you care? I thought I wasn't shit to you." Khari began.

"I've always cared about you."

"Man save all that." He waved her off. "If you really cared you would've encouraged me, you pulled me down and for that I can never fuck with you." He shrugged.

"Because you act just like your ain't shit father. You never took me into consideration."

"I was a a child! The hell did I need to take into consideration Lisa? Not a got damn thing. All you do is care about yourself and Langston. You act like I'm not even yours!" Khari yelled. "You told me I was never gonna be shit in life, that Langston was gonna be better than me."

"Because at the time he was. But I'm proud that you proved me wrong." She spat back.

"Why is she here?" Khari asked Langston. He was over it and he just wanted to leave.

"She had to tell you something. She's just procrastinating for some reason." Langston said looking at his mother.

She grew silent, not wanting to speak anymore.

"Oou, do it again. She's silent." Khari clapped excitedly.

"I'm dying Khari!" She spit out.

Khari's eyes widened. He sat back in his seat and folded his arms. "What you mean you dying?" He asked.

"They found a tumor in her head a month ago. She had a seizure." Langston told him.

Khari grew silent. He didn't know what to say. He didn't wanna hear it. But he did. He heard her loud and clear. He didn't know what she wanted him to say. Yeah he cared but he still hated her.

"That's crazy." He said with a shrug.

Their food arrived and Khari grabbed his bag.

"Call me when y'all done so I can order y'all a Uber, here's the money for the bill." He said dropping a one hundred dollar bill down. "I'm out." He said walking out of the restaurant.

He got into his car and drove off. He didn't want to play any music or even talk on the phone. Julia was texting and calling his phone repeatedly and he already knew what it was about. Julia didn't live too far from where he was so he just drove there instead. He turned onto her street and took out his phone.

"Hey." She answered.

"I'm outside." He said getting out of his car and walking up to her apartment. She buzzed him in and he walked to her floor. With open arms she was at her door waiting for him. She moved aside letting him in, he sat on the couch and waited for her to come sit beside him.

"What's wrong? You look upset." She asked Khari. He wasn't sad because of the news he just received, he was upset because it hurt that he didn't have a mom, he had an enemy.

"It's my mom. She just pisses me off." He started. "We were arguing and then Langston told me she had a brain tumor. Sad thing is, I'm not even upset. I think that's pretty fucked up that I'm not even sad that the women who gave birth to me is going to die soon. I can't grieve because I have no sentimental emotions towards her. It's just all hate." He vented and before he knew it he was sobbing. He hated that him and his mother couldn't get along. He was jealous of her and Langston's relationship. He wasn't upset with his brother just with his mom

"Come here." Julia said scooting closer to him to comfort him. "It's fine. It's not your fault she's an ass hole but you have to realize that she's missing out on something amazing. Now I'm sorry that you're going to lose her and that she's going through what she's going through."

Khari just laid his head on her shoulder, taking in her scent. Yeah He was a big baby and he was fine with it too. He was tough when it was time to be but deep down inside he just wanted to be held. Him and Julia talked for a while and watched some movies. They talked about work for a little but other than that it was just two friends having fun.

"You want anything to drink?" Julia asked him.

"No." He said lifting his head up from the pillow. He was now feeling a tad bit better.

"Welp, I'm thirsty. I'll be right back." Julia rose from the white leather couch and walked into her kitchen. Her oversized Guns and Roses tee shirt covered her body, stopping right below her butt, showing her thick thighs. Khari enjoyed the sight and just wanted to see the rest of what was under her band tee shirt. She came back, sitting beside Khari.

"You know how we always talking about keeping shit professional?" He asked looking her over as she sipped on her green tea. He didn't know if it was the pain talking or if he was just catching feelings for the young assistant.

"Yeah." She said grabbing the remote and flicking through other suggestions.

"You wanna break that?" Khari asked. He could see it caught her off guard.

"Can I keep my job?" Julia asked with a grin.

"Do you want to?"

"Let's see how after this." Julia spoke as she put the remote down and kissed Khari firmly on his lips. He leaned back onto the couch so that she could be on top of him. He rubbed his hands down her body and stopped once he reached her butt to grip it.

The two kissed passionately enjoying every second, their tongues wrestled as Khari put his hand up her shirt to unhook her bra. Once he successfully got it off he pulled away from the kiss and pulled her shirt over her head to take it off. He began to suck on one boob while he messaged her other nipple with his index finger and thumb. Her soft moans was like music to his ears. He picked her up and began walking to her bedroom.

He put her down on her feet and pulled his shirt off showing the quoted tattoo on his chest. He closed the door behind him and beginning to kiss Julia even more .
