"Are you aware that this is considered breaking and entering?" You questioned sarcastically while staring down at your boyfriend as you struggled to hide your anxiousness.
You noticed his determined expression as he crouched in front of the back entrance of your high school's building, attempting to pick the lock to get inside.
"Oh, I'm aware." He looks up at you, revealing a cheeky grin.
Normally, you enjoyed when he brought you along on his deviant activities with him, but you couldn't shake the wave of anxiety washing over you tonight.
"Why? You scared?" He teased playfully.
"No." You scowled, crossing your arms and looking away.
"Don't lie, Choi Y/n~" He dragged out your name, amused by your uneasiness.
"I'm not, Park Jinyoung." You mocked his tone of voice with a stern expression. "Can you just tell me why we're here again?"
Your question came off as sounding a bit uptight and he immediately took notice of it. He lets out a sigh, knowing you all too well.
"I told you, I wanted to sneak the answer sheet to our final exam. I can't risk failing." He reminds, continuing with the lock.
"I got it." He said triumphantly, hopping to his feet with a smug expression on his face. "I'm too good at this."
You rolled your eyes as you swiftly reached for the door, and opened it. As you turned to face him, you returned that smug expression of his and spoke, "Ladies first."
"Haha, very funny." His eyes narrowed.
"I know." You gave an innocent grin.
Ignoring you, Jinyoung cautiously entered the building with you following closely behind.
"Why can't we just study like normal students? Why do we have to cheat?" You whisper, unable to stop yourself from asking.
"Y/n, you know that if I fail this exam, I might not be able to graduate. I need these answers." He explains. "I get that you're scared, but you got nothing to worry about while I'm here."
He grabs your hand, giving it a comforting squeeze. As he gives you a reassuring smile, you couldn't help but smile back.
Jinyoung is very smart, but he's not exactly a very good student. He constantly finds himself in trouble and rarely ever does any work.
It's one of the many reasons why your parents have a dislike for him. They view him as a bad influence.
"Besides, if someone does show up we can just hide." He said, acting like it was no big deal.
"Well obviously," What else would you do? Stand there and let yourselves get caught..yeah, I think not.
You quickly glanced behind you, as a light's reflection caught your eyes. A man's figure appears from around the corner and he points his flash light directly at you and Jinyoung.
"You idiot!" You whisper-shout, tugging on Jinyoung's hand. "You just jinxed us!"
He stares at you perplexed, not quite understanding what you meant. You motion towards the man behind you and Jinyoung's eyes widened slightly.
"Don't blame me for this!" He retorts and you let out a groan.
"Hey! You two!" The security guard shouts as he was now quickly heading in your direction.
"Time to run." You state, and you both immediately hurried down the hall before making a sharp turn to your right.
The security guard began chasing after you both, but luckily you spotted an opened classroom. You pull Jinyoung into the classroom and ran over to the teacher's desk.
Crouching down, you both crawl under the desk. Your heart was racing as you placed a hand over your mouth to muffle the sound of your heavy breathing.

You probably need to start exercising more as you're already worn out from all that running.
Footsteps could be heard slowly walking into the classroom. A light shined throughout the dark and empty room. his flash light around the dark and empty room.
He let out a deep sigh, assuming we weren't here. He walks out the room and closes the door behind him.
What an awful security guard.
"That was a close one." Jinyoung chuckles as he pulls himself out from under the desk.
"What can I say? I'm a quick thinker." You brag, standing up as well.
"If that's what you believe." He teases, and you shot him a playful glare.
"Okay, now we need get the answers and leave." You voice, walking over to the door.
Jinyoung follows and looks through the glass to make sure no one was in the hall.
"The hallway is clear." He whispers in an agent-like voice while opening the door.
"Okay, James Bond." You mock, pushing him out into the hall. "Hurry up and lead the way."
He slowly turns to look at you, almost in disbelief, but he didn't say a word. You tried to hold back a smile as he began heading towards the office with you following behind.
You both eventually made it to the office without being caught and stopped in front of the door.
"You keep watch by door while I look for the answer documents." You state and Jinyoung nods, turning around to face the hall.
"Okay, be quick."
You walk behind the front desk that held all the files and paperwork. You quickly started shuffling around through all the drawers, trying to be as quiet as possible.
"Can't you go any faster?" Jinyoung questions, impatiently.
"Don't rush me! There are a lot files!" You groan, but continued on with your little mission.
Suddenly, the sound of police sirens caught your attention. You lift your head up in shock and glanced out the window to see two cop cars pulling up to the school.
"Well isn't that just great!" You spoke through gritted teeth.
"Anytime now." Jinyoung states, sounding less confident.
"Hold on!"
You open a new cabinet and searched through it quickly, "Come on come on, where are you?"
You eyes widened as you flipped through a file to see it had the papers you needed.
"Found it!"
"Grab it and let's go." He demands and you stare at him with furrowed brows.
You slam the drawer closed and made your way towards Jinyoung. You both begin running down the hall as he leads you to the exit in the back of the school.
You immediately pushed the double-doors open and hurried out the building. You ran through the back field, but came to a stop in front of the gate.
Jinyoung swiftly climbs over the gate and you toss him the answer file as you do the same.
"Where's your car?" You question as you begin running once more after making it to the other side of the gate.
"Just keep running, my car is right there." He states and you spotted it just a few yards ahead.
"Thank god." You sigh in relief.
Out of nowhere, one of the cop cars pull up, cutting you off.
You turn around, hoping to head the other direction, but was met with a second car.
"Don't move!"
• I •
You were currently at the police station waiting for your parents to show up. Jinyoung had already left when Namjoon's mother came to pick him up.
Jinyoung never told you what caused their deaths, but he did tell you about his father. He said his half-brother, whom he shared the same mother with, caused his father to die.
You were shocked at first, but he never told you what his brother actually did. His mother on the other hand, was never spoken about.
But you knew he misses her a lot. All you know is that he has been scarred from their deaths, so you never pushed him to tell you.
Suddenly, your parents rush into the room with worried expressions. That was until they saw you sitting in a chair with handcuffs around your wrist.
"Hi, mom. Hi, dad."
A sheepish smile appears on your face, but they just sigh in disappointment before heading over to help you out.
• II •
"What were you thinking breaking into your own school!" Your mother shouts.
Later that night, your parents had to come pick you up at the police station seeing as you were arrested. To be honest, it was pretty embarrassing sitting there for half an hour, while receiving rude looks from the lady at the front desk as you waited to be picked up
"And stealing the answers to your exam! Really!?" Your father joins in on the shouting.
You stare down at your feet, tired of hearing their voices. That's all they ever do anymore. They're always shouting at you and telling you how disappointed they are in you.
"Y/n, you didn't use to be like this." Your mother begins, "You didn't change until you met that Jinyoung guy you're always on about."
"Don't bring him into this!" You frown.
"We think he's a bad influence on you." Your dad voices. "We want you to stop seeing him."
"Wh-what?!"
"Y/n, you're better than this." Your mother speaks in a gentle voice, and you scoff.
"I can't listen to this right now." You state, not wanting to hear another one of her speeches.
You head up to your room, ignoring your parent's voices as they called after you.
• III •
You suddenly jolt up in your bed after hearing a loud bang coming from outside.
You groan in annoyance, sitting up.
When your vision began to get clear again you look around your room. That's when you realized it was empty and when you say empty you mean everything was gone. You knew you were a heavy sleeper, but not that heavy.
You got up and marched over to your window. There was a giant truck in your driveway and people loading it with boxes.
"What the–"
You quickly ran downstairs to look for your parents.
You noticed that everything was either gone or in boxes. You started to get worried, feeling as if you were in some sort of nightmare.
"Mom!"
You enter the living room to see your mother with a box in her hands. "Oh good, you're up. Can you-"
"What the hell is going on?!" You interrupt.
"Did I not tell you?" She questions with raised brows.
"No — What are you even talking about? Tell me what?!" You look around in disbelief.
"What happened to all of our stuff?" You ask, trying to get comprehend what's happening.
"We're moving to Seoul." She speaks with a smile.
"We're moving?"
"We decided that you need a new start." She says while placing the box on the floor.
"We?! Meaning, you and dad decided. I was just apparently left out of the conversation." You scoff, unable to process the situation.
"We thought this would be good for you." She argues.
"You know what? I'm just gonna leave the room and hopefully I wake up from this awful dream." You give her a sarcastic smile.
You walk out the living room, entering another one of the many empty rooms in this house.
You suddenly begin to remember all your friends who have no idea that you're leaving. How were they going to react? What were they going to say? Would they even care that you left or would they just forget about you?
You immediately pull your phone out your pocket and dialed Jinyoung's number.
"Hello?"
"Jinyoung?" You spoke faintly.
"Y/n? Are you okay?" He questions, noticing the sullen tone of your voice.
"I'm fine, it's just.." You pause, swallowing the lump in your throat.
"Just spit it out already." He says impatiently. "What happened?"
"I'm leaving."
"What do you mean you're leaving?" He asks in a monotone voice.
"My family is moving to Seoul." You reveal.
"Stay there, I'm coming over." He orders in a rushed manner.
You nod even though he couldn't see you and he hung up right away.
You sigh deeply and stared down at your phone screen. You click the camera roll app and saw your favorite picture of you and Jinyoung.
You smile lightly at the sight, you were so happy that day. You both just got back to his apartment after a long day at the fair and you were so tired.
You were too happy to go home, so you lied to your parents that you were sleeping over at Yeji's house, even though you were staying with Jinyoung.
Not just Jinyoung, but all your friends. You don't know what you're supposed to do without them. They are practically your family, and you love them all so much.
How were you supposed to leave any of them. Jinyoung's your first love, he was your first for everything. You don't think you could ever love anybody else as much as you love him.
You will admit, you should've never broke into the school. You should've listened to your gut and told Jinyoung that it was too risky. That you were going to get caught, but you didn't and look where that got you.
"Y/n, we're leaving now!" Your father hollers from outside.
You let out a deep breath before exiting your house. You watch as your dad puts one last box in the truck before heading into the driver's seat.
"Are you ready?" Your mother asks with a smile on her face.
"No." You deadpan, looking at your feet.
"Y/n!"
You heard someone call out your name. You quickly turn around to Jinyoung standing a few feet from out, almost out of breath. He's lucky that he lives just down the street or he would've never gotten the chance to see you.
You look back at your mom asking for permission if you can speak with him.
"You have five minutes." She demands, getting into the passenger seat of the car.
You head over to Jinyoung with a disappointed smile on your face.
"I guess you're actually leaving, huh?"
"Yeah, I am." You speak softly.
You look down at your hands as you began fiddling with your fingers.
"I got you something, as a goodbye gift." He says making you look up at him in shock, "Well, I was meaning to give it to you for our two-year anniversary, but I suppose I can give it to you now."
He held a happy grin on his face and hands you a small white box. You slowly opened it to be welcomed by a silver locket.
"A necklace?" You question, a bit surprised as it was so beautiful.
"Not just any necklace, but a promise necklace." He says and urges you to open the locket.
You gently open it and see the same picture of Jinyoung and you that you were looking at earlier.
He takes the necklace from your grasp and puts it around your neck. He hooks it for you and you grab the lock, staring down at it.
"What promise?"
"It's a promise that you won't ever forget me, and you will one day come back to me." He pauses before continuing, "..that even in the end, I'll be the one you love."
"How could I ever forget you?" You smile brightly, holding your tears back.
Jinyoung gently rests his forehead against yours, pained by this whole situation.
"It's okay to cry, Y/n. You don't have to remain strong in front of me anymore." He says, but you shake your head.
"No, I want you to remember me as your strong and love-able girlfriend." You state playfully, wiping the stray tears that fought hard to fall.
"Not possible." He grins. "You'll always be the idiot who ran into me on the first day of school."
You laugh lightly at his words and pulled back.
"I love you, Jinyoung."
"I love you too, more than you could ever imagine."
Your chest felt all warm and your heart pounded a little faster at his words. He leans in to give you one last kiss before your departure.
You stand on your toes to meet his lips and he wrap his arms around your waist, pulling you closer to him.
You felt butterflies dancing in your stomach, but they soon disappeared as Jinyoung broke the kiss to hug you tightly.
"I'll wait for you." He whispers, almost silently, in your ear.
You nod as you rest your head against his chest, taking in his scent for the last time.
He eventually pulls away and holds your hands. "I think your mom is beginning to get impatient."
"You're right, I should be heading off." You laugh lightly, feeling your heart clench at your own words.
"Goodbye, Y/n."
You nod without looking at him and walk over to the car, getting in.
Jinyoung waved the whole time while watching your father pull out the driveway and drive off.
You placed your head against the window and sighed, Goodbye, Jinyoung.."

Homicidal Aliens are Invading and All I Got is This Stat Menu
ON INDEFINITE HIATUS This story (and any others I write) now has a DISCORD! Thousands of people around the globe randomly find themselves "hosts" for alien technology that allows them to alter their minds and bodies in an instant through holographic menu systems. With the touch of a button, any of the hosts can become super strong, gain magical abilities, purchase a giant robot, or become a master in any of an almost infinite number of skills that range from advanced combat techniques to fidget-spinning. However, the hosts also become targets for nightmarish, shape-shifting creatures that have come to Earth following the newfound extraterrestrial tech. The menu systems can grant their hosts great power, but it may not be enough to survive the horde of murderous beings hunting them down.
8 204Agent of the Alternates
This is the first Well of Souls story. Nathan Hunter, as well as five hundred other seniors at his high school, found themselves pulled into the deadly game in an alternate dimension of their school, where they had to survive against increasingly tough monsters while completing a series of Challenges as their numbers continued to dwindle with no end in sight. With no way off the property, nor any way out of the alternate and back to their real dimension, Nathan and his classmates battle for survival in the hopes that eventually, they will be freed from the game. Warning: Things will get repetitive at times, particularly after Arc 1. The reason for this becomes clear in the first couple of chapters of Arc 2. It is simply the nature of the lives they lead.
8 158The Final Test
Earth was overtaken by the Calumnia ten years ago and if it weren't for the alien Occisio race who saved the remnants of humanity, Indi's race would have gone extinct. Now, at the age of sixteen, Indi and the other surviving children are about to complete their training and return to Earth to kill the monster that destroyed their world and killed their parents. However, the children on the Occisio's spaceship have been dismissed one by one in training tests and only a few of them remain. Will Indi prove himself skilled enough to become a soldier? Or will he fail humanity as his parents did? This short story (in 13 parts) is a love letter to fans of Ender's Game and Maze Runner. (I may eventually turn this into a novel but for now, I hope you enjoy this 10,000 word story about hope and overcoming one's weakness.) [This story will appear on other websites as well, such as Wattpad and Royal Road.]
