《Badass Luna》Chapter 7

"Last warning Barnes" I replied, before storming out of his view.
I sped back down the roads, returning home in absolute silence.
I hate this case, I hate him, I hate every bit of my current life. I chanted all the while walking up the steps to my porch.
I flipped the door open with a blast, carelessly throwing my things on the living room table and plopping down on the couch.
Why did this case have to be given to me? Why him?
It wasn't like any other case I had ever taken. Exploring crime scenes, discovering new evidence, interrogating suspects, those were the kinds of things I had grown up doing throughout my detective career. Missing person's cases were NOT ever on my agenda, and perhaps if it wasn't for Emilia, I would have never agreed to take the case.
That's when further frustration grew within me. Why on earth would they specifically want me? Why would I have a brief yet unwanted encounter with the same people filing a case a day before at the club. Why would Ryan make my date disappear? In fact, how the hell did he even know where and with who I was? I would have noticed if someone was following our car, but it couldn't just be a coincidence. I don't believe in coincidences, but I also don't believe in fate or destiny. Why was there no escape to this?
My mind wandered back to my past, haunting me for a just a minute. I remembered the day I decided to move to New York, and leave England behind. It wasn't as hard as I thought, but I now I missed every bit of it. Despite the past I had, I missed the walks in Hyde Park and the busy atmosphere of Camden Town.

The sound of my ringing phone pulled me out of my deep thoughts, making me sit up from my position.
"Hello" I answered.
"Elisabeth, there's been an attack down at Bedford avenue, we need you here right now" Emila's voice blasted my ears.
"On my way" I hung up, grabbing my gun and badge along with my phone and making my way back out towards my car.
I sped down the streets once again, arriving Bedford Avenue in no time. Police cars and fire trucks were parked around a corner surrounded by police tape. I exited my vehicle, walking towards where Emilia was. Displaying my badge to the policemen on the way, I finally made it beside her.
"What the hell happened here?"
"Ted and Henry Reynolds happened"
"Brothers?" I questioned, to which she nodded.
"They broke in, intending to rob Teresa Greewill, she's with David there. They still have a hostage though, Teresa's husband, Ben, is still with them inside."
"Why aren't we going inside then?"
"They fled their apartment. All the apartments are being searched and all the exists have been blocked so they can't escape" I nodded in understanding.
"So, now we're just going to wait till they turn up?" Emilia sighed, nodding. "Fantastic" I replied in utter sarcasm.
After two minutes of waiting in pure agonizing silence, I had finally had it.
"Ok this is completely bollucks. We should be going-" My voice was cut down by the sudden blast of a door.
Two men walked out, pointing guns at the victim held in their tight grip. Automatically, every cops guns were on display, pointing towards the two criminal brothers.
Ben had blood dripping down his face as Ted pointed the gun towards his head, a smirk wide on his face. His brother mirrored his expressions, holding Ben in a death grip, his gun pointed towards us.

"Drop your weapons, or he dies" Ted announced proudly. From behind Teresa shrieked at the sight of her blooded husband, wailing into the policemen's arms, fighting to get towards her loved one.
Everyone looked between one another, half of the cops dropping their weapons, the other half, holding their ground.
"NOW!" Ted roared, the other half except myself dropping their weapons. His met mine in a shared glare and smirk. "Well well well, you think you're the brave one do you?" He questioned me as I continued glaring at him.
"I don't answer to asswholes like yourself"
"What did you just call us?" Henry yelled from behind, his expression switching in an abnormal manner.
"And you're dumb too" I whispered under my breath, but it wasn't as low as I thought it was. Henry's eyes widened in anger.
"YOU LITTLE-"
"Henry, my brother, calm down." Ted interrupted, placing his free hand on his brother's shoulder. All the while this happened, a few cops appeared from behind Ted, Henry and Ben, silently aiming their guns towards the two brothers.
My eyes drifted past Henry's angry ones towards the men behind them, nodding slightly as a warning for them to shoot. Clearly Henry caught on to this movement because in the next movement, three gunshots were heard.
Two of them consisted of the men shooting Ted and Henry, and the other one came from Henry's gun whose bullet had penetrated my shoulder. Thankfully from the impact of the bullet he took, his gun aimed at my shoulder rather than my heart.
I collapsed to the ground with a short gasp, holding my wounded shoulder in pure pain.
The scene returned to it's busy state as Teresa ran towards Ben, the only survivor between the three, and the rest of the cops rushed towards the two collapsed bodies of the brothers.
Emiliawas in front of me in less than seconds, uttering words to me that I couldn'tprocess in the loud atmosphere. She carried me towards the paramedics who begandoing their medical experiments on me, stuff that I wasn't aware of, becausewithin minutes, the only thing I was left seeing was black.

Triquetra: A Multi-Class Isekai or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Accept the End of the Multiverse
Triquetra: An Multi-Class Isekei Adventure I know, I know, you have heard it all before. Yes I was hit by a truck. Yes I ended up in a Fantastical World suspiciously similar to one of my favorite RPG’s. Yes I had access to cheats no one else possessed. Yes it was a world of classes and levels and magic powers. Finally, yes I was an overweight middle-aged loser failing to live up to my potential. Given my eclectic reading habits I should have been better prepared. Unfortunately I was not. Sure I could multi-class with reduced penalties, but my starting class was Scholar! No combat abilities and very limited spellcasting. My HUD interface costs mana to use, and my universal translation seemed to be outsourced to Giggle Translate. I’m supposed to be an OP MC! Not a slice-o- life struggling to survive in the wilderness. Not to mention the Arch-Magus who summoned me, mistimed everything, I arrived 300 years too late, after the fall of the Empire I was supposed to save. The surviving remnants have devolved into Murder Hobos. What’s worse is that the Great Devourer, Ancient Calamity, and Spawn from the Void Beyond Time, Space, and Sanity is now aware of a new world to plunder, a world called Dirt! (Told you this translator sucks) Warning Extra Crunchy Authorial Vebosity! Lots of infodump in the early chapters, but I learn my lesson and it does get better, eventually.
