《Badass Luna》Chapter 4

"Something just doesn't add up" I mumbled to myself, looking over the facts once more.
"For god's sake Eli, stop this already. You're just being delusional. Just because you saw them once outside a club and they looked sketchy doesn't mean they are lying about this. They have a case, and we have to solve it, the end. Now can we please get back to work. I think we should start by checking his workplace, they mentioned he worked at a bar, which is just a few blocks away from here, so let's go" I ignored her comment, looking down at the paper ahead of me.
Two guys approach me outside a club, threatening me with their actions. Then they show up at my precinct with a case. Then they show signs of hesitation, causing some serious suspicion, but at the same time they have a very strong game. Or was it planned? Or was it not? Where to look now? What to do?
"ELISABETH!" she yelled once again, successfully gaining my attention.
"What mate?" I snapped, getting distracted from my train of thought.
"I said let's go check his work place out" I nodded, facing my monitor to turn it off. Looking at the time, my mind suddenly took a 360 degree turn.
"Oh shite Em! It's already 7, I'm supposed to meet Robert at 8. Can we cover this tomorrow?" She smirked at me, causing me to instantly feel uncomfortable.
"Robert ha? This is your third date isn't it?" I nodded, choosing not to answer her question "Hows that working out for ya? Does he treat you well? Is he good looking? Does he-"
"Em, for Christ sake, it's just my third date. Of course he's nice, but who knows if that will last. Now will you please let this go. Besides, I thought Michael was taking you out anyways" I commented, recalling her words. Michael was Emilia's perfect boyfriend. See while the rest of the world including myself was suffering with the problems of life, Emilia was one of those people who had it all. From the looks to the wealth to the job to the boyfriend. She grew up as a straight A student, scored highest at the police academy, had the best metabolism and hence a wonderful figure, the perfect green eyes and jet black hair, the high school sweetheart that lasted, wealthy parents, basically, she had it all.

On a more contrasting level you had me. The girl with the fucked up childhood, the messed up grades the bottled up anger that led to becoming a detective and major, and I mean major commitment issues.
It was quite ironic to pair someone like me up with someone like her, but as if both sides of the puzzle were put together to make one.
Michael was her one and only love of her life. After dating as the 'it' couple in high school, the couple was determined to stick to each other throughout their journey until the very present, 7 years later. The idea made many people 'aww', however I particularly was not the biggest fan of romance or any sort of romance related thing.
"Yeah, we gotta go see Tatiana"
"Michael's sister? The mental one?"
"That very one" she replied, slightly disappointed.
"Good luck love. I'll see you tomorrow" I replied grabbing my stuff before walking out the building into my car.
I followed her home as she pulled out of the precinct. Don't judge me. I'm just looking out for my mate.
You all are probably thinking, she's a cop, she can take care of herself, and I get that, but you can't blame the possessive Alpha for watching over his most precious possession (as cliché as that may sound).
I watched her every move as she pulled into her driveway at some point, observing if she safely got inside her house. I looked around the area, making sure no one was around, before deciding to pull out and head back to the pack house.
I had a smart mate, that much was certain, but how smart she was, that was something I didn't know until I visualized her actions yesterday. Who knew I would have to stage an act with Alina to get Elisabeth to believe me. I hated lying to her, but one day she would understand.
Don't get me wrong, Alina is Evis' mate, and they both do have a child. He also was my third in command and my best friend. However he wasn't as missing as he seemed to be. At least that's not what I would call hiding in his basement whilst the cops visit.

My distraction had led me to notice a black Lexus to pull up in front of my car, right into Elisabeth's driveway. A man exited the vehicle, a bouquet of flowers neatly placed in his hands as he walked towards my mate's front door. I found myself growling to myself in the car, wanting to rip the man's head off for doing what he was about to do. He waited patiently after ringing the doorbell until my mate opened the door, looking absolutely breathtaking.
Her work attire had changed as she stood wearing a simple dress with a black leather jacket on top paired with black ankle boots. If I had listened to my wolf I would have ripped the guys head off and taken my mate right there and then, but reluctantly I waited inside the car, trying my best to come up with some sort of plan to kill the date. The two followed the man who I would rather call Fucker inside his car which he then pulled out of the driveway.
I waited a few minutes before I pulled out of her driveway following her scent. I knew that I couldn't follow the car, considering the fact that my mate was a cop and she'd probably know if someone was following her car.
Not too long later, her scent stopped outside LeGrande Lounge, one of the best bars in New York. I scoffed. Of course Fucker would bring my mate here, it's a basic fucker move. Take the girl to a fancy place and convince her that you've got money and you can afford shit. Good move fucker. Super romantic. Fuck you fucker.
I cursed in my mind until I spotted my mate sitting on the stools facing the bar as her 'date' stepped off the stool heading towards what I was assuming was the bathroom. I smirked and got out of my car, speeding into the lounge with werewolf speed right into the bathroom out of everyone's view. I could hear fucker in one of the stalls, doing his business, as I waited outside patiently rolling up the sleeves of my shirt. It wasn't long before he came out, my smirk increasing as I looked at his reflection through the mirror.
He shot me a small smile as he washed his hands by the sink.
"Hey man" I began, capturing his confused gaze.
"Hey"
"Listen, it would be really nice if you left. I have some things to talk about with my girlfriend" I commented, facing him. He chuckled, not buying the act.
"Sorry man, I don't know what you're talking about" he turned around, reaching towards the door. I pulled him back, pushing him back against the wall of the bathroom.
"Leave now, or I will finish you" I commanded, my wolf surfacing me.
"Man, what's wrong with you? Let me-"
I cut of his sentence when my eyes started switching colour and my wolf began taking over.
"I'll leave, I'll leave" he shouted in utter fear, running out before I could do him real harm.
I soon regained control walking out to find him running out the bar, leaving a confused looking Elisabeth on the table.
"Well that's not surprise" I heard her whisper to herself as she began standing up.
"Elisabeth?" I question, adding a little bit of fake surprise in my tone. Her eyes met mine in the same questioning manner.
"Ryan? What are you doing here?"
"I was with a few friends, they left. What about you?" I think she slightly caught on to my lie however refused to show it. She remained silent for a few seconds as if debating whether to tell me about her situation or not but she settled with the truth.
"My date just ran off." She said, slightly embarrassed. I chuckled, taking the seat next to her at the bar.
"How about you have a drink with me instead?"
"Oh no. I am working your case-"
"Not right now. This is all off the record. Come on, one drink" she looked slightly reluctant as she agreed, seating herself back on the stool beside mine.
"Fine. Only one drink"

Tales of Ordinary, Completely Unremarkable Contractors
"Where life had no value, death, sometimes, had its price. That is why the mercenaries appeared." - Artur Xerxes, in A Century of Disappointment: Memoirs of a Travelling Dwarf It's never too difficult to land contracts for a set very specialised skills in a continent teeming with werewolves, vampires, giant leopards, undead and, god forbid, elves. The difficulty comes when these contractors find themselves suffocated in the dense atmosphere of this world's rigid - and mostly unfair - rules; death, suffering and misfortune await those unwilling to sacrifice to bend these in their favour. In this non-linear plot, you will observe a scarred and deformed farm girl cashing her first bounty posters, a seemingly ordinary barmaid at a tavern in the bustling centre of a sprawling, corrupt city and an enigmatic leader of a firm specialising in dealings any other would consider suicidal. Watch them all take everything to the next level at every available opportunity, and then feel dread at the thought that this still might not be enough to halt the physical embodiment of doom about to do what it does best Please, feel free to review and comment! Any sort of feedback can help me become a better writer and write more engaging stories for you. I used to update once every 3-5 days, but this rewrite is taking much too long...I do hope it will be worth it.
