"I want to call off the engagement"

Nobody in the house would have expected Sarang to say these words. Even Kang Hwan was taken by what she said. He even thought that he must have misheard her.

"Sarang, What are you saying?" her father seems to be flustered.

"Sarang, is it because Kang Hwan didn't came to visit you that you are angry?" Mrs.Kang asked her nervously. Sarang shook her head.

"Then why? Everyone presented here know how much you like Kang Hwan. Suddenly why are you saying to call off the engagement?" Seok Chan, her brother asked Sarang.

"Brother, I was almost died and came back to life. I want to appreciate everything I have now. So I decided to restart my life as a new person. Please do it for me" Sarang almost pleaded her brother with her eyes.

Kang Hwan throw the flowers to the ground, "It's great. It saves my time in the future. I don't have to please you all the time"

"Kang Hwan, watch what are you saying?" Mr.Kang shouted at his son.

"Dad, why are you shouting at me? I listened to you and got engaged with her. I did whatever you asked me to do for her. I studied in the same school as well as same class as her. I accompanied her to the parties. I did everything you said for the past ten years. It's not my fault that she wants to cancel it"

Sarang was fuming in anger. 'What? not his fault? Did he forgot how he treated her? Not even once he acknowledge Sarang as his fiancee. He even let his fangirls to bully her. Not even once he stood by her side. Because of him Sarang ended her life. Now he's claiming that he didn't make any mistake. Does he have a heart?'

"Okay, stay calm, You both are just kids. Everything will be fine once time pass" Mrs.Kang patted Sarang's head.

Sarang quickly moved away from her, "I am sorry break it to you. I really want to break off the engagement with your son. After all these loving your son I learnt one thing" she paused and looked at Kang Hwan, "He doesn't deserve Sarang. He is not worthy of Sarang's love"

Sarang didn't missed the angry look in Kang Hwan's face. Of course, not even in his dream he would have thought that Sarang will say these words to him. He knows very well how much she loved him.

'But I am sorry to say I am not that naive Sarang. You killed her you unworthy jerk'

"Sarang" Seok Chan pulled her towards him, "Suddenly what happened to you? Is he the reason you tried to commit suicide?"

'Oh My god. He is so sharp. No wonder he is one of the Director of the company at the young age'

Sarang looked at Kang Hwan. His face changed from angry to shock. Maybe he doesn't even know the reason. How could he know when he didn't show any concern when he heard about Sarang's hospitalization.

Everyone looked Sarang in a shocked face. They were waiting for her reply.

Sarang shook her head, "No brother, he is not that much worth. Ah! stop saying I tried to commit suicide. The truth is to pass the time I was watching some videos and you know how much I am interested in chemistry. I know I am not smart. I just tried to do some experiment with the substances in the lab. I just drank it to test it because there was no one the lab other than me. But who know my experiment would have failed"

Sarang praised herself to come with a lie, hoping everyone to believe it.

"You don't have to lie to us. Tell me the truth" Sarang father held her hands.

"Dad, it's the truth. Why should I lose my life? I have to eat lots of delicious food in the world. If you don't believe me you can ask Byeol and GaEun"

Seok Chan took his phone out and dialed some number. When the call connected he put it on the speaker, "What is it? Is Sarang okay?"

It was Byeol. Did he really intend to ask her?

"Byeol, do you know the reason for her suicide attempt?" Seok Chan asked her.

There was a complete silence.

"Brother, What do you mean by suicide? Don't you know how strong our Sarang is? She was doing some stupid experiment in the lab by watching some videos. There was no one to test it so she decided to test it on herself"

Sarang sighed in relief. She know this situation would have happen sooner or later. So Sarang asked Byeol and GaEun a favour to hide the real reason.

'Girl, you should be an actress. You didn't even stutter a bit'

"Thanks Byeol. Sarang is fine" with that Seok Chan disconnected the call.

"See I told you, why do I have to lose my valuable life for some unworthy person. Trust me brother, I want to be live more than anyone in the world" Sarang clasped his hands.

Seok Chan was glaring at Sarang like he wants to kill her with his gaze.

"I was almost got scared it's because of my son" Mrs.Kang said and continued, "Sarang, then why do you want to cancel the engagement? Did he did anything to upset you?"

"Mom, why are you asking so many questions? It's fine if she wants to cancel it. I am happy with that" with that Kang Hwan left the house.

"Mr.Kang I am sorry. Let's call off the engagement. We hoped our children to have a happy life. But it seems neither of them is happy because of this engagement" Sarang father said to Mr.Kang.

"We decided that our children to have good relationship like us. It's okay let's call it off. Nothing is important than their happiness" Mr.Kang face clearly showed how disappointed he was.

He then continued, "It will not affect our friendship. Remember we both were friends even before we were married"

"Yes, there won't be any changes in our relationship. You will be always my best friend" Sarang's father patted his friend's shoulder.

'Good, you guys made a good decision, Congratulations'

Sarang was happy that one of her burden was relieved from this life. She doesn't have to meet that jerk anymore.

Mrs.Kang held Sarang's hand, "Sarang, I was happy when you engaged to Kang Hwan. That you will be my daughter-in-law. I didn't expect it to end too soon. What if you can't be my daughter-in-law, you can be my daughter"

Sarang almost cried when she heard her words. She recalled how tenderly Mrs.Kang treated Sarang. 'How did she gave birth to the monster like Kang Hwan?'

Sarang gladly accepted her offer. Mrs.Kang hugged her before she left with her husband.

Sarang was happy that she solved one of the problem. She turned to walk to her room but got froze when her eyes met with Seok Chan.

"um.. Brother, are you okay?" Sarang asked him.

"Hell with your stupid experiment. I want you to change your college major" Seok Chan shouted.

"Major? What major?" Sarang looked confused.

"Don't you remember that you applied for Chemistry as your major in college? I want you to change it immediately right now"

"Do as your brother says. Who knows what will happen in the future if you continue to pursue Chemistry? What if you blast the lab next time? I don't think I can handle another shock. Any major is fine other than chemistry" her father said.

Sarang smiled inwardly. She was herself waiting for the chance to inform them about to study in the college where she can meet them.

"Okay. I will do as you say. I will choose my major as Computer Science in NLU"
