Third Person P.O.V.

"I heard you are leaving for Chicago." Chris said, entering Damien's office. Who just nodded in response, substantially dreading it.

"You will do me a favour, and bring Oakley back with you, right?" Asked Chris, leaving no space to hear a negative response.

Even though he wanted to decline Chris' polite request. But somehow he couldn't bring himself to do it. Picking Oakley up from Winnie's means he gets an excuse to finally meet her.

And it is not like he is going there on his own, for his selfish reasons. He has to pick Oakley from there. This is a good enough reason.

He smiled to himself, his heart tightened with excitement and heartbeat fastened. How much he can't wait to finally hold her in his arms. Openly claim her as his. And make her forever his.

...

As the door knocked twice, Winnie huffed stomping her legs on the floor before answering the door. Who could come at this hour? Although it was only ten at night but she, along with Oakley were asleep. Whoever was at the door had no patience as it was knocked again.

"I am coming!" Frustrated, her half-sleepy voice yelled.

In her dizzy state, she opened the door and gasped. Is it a dream? In better words, maybe a nightmare? It probably is. Her worst nightmare stood infront of her, looking as handsome as ever.

She could smell the same heavenly divine cologne that always intrigued her. His blue eyes seemed to be more sparkly yet there were eye bags surrounded it. Physically, he seemed more fit and lean. She could easily point out that he has lost few pounds.

"Damien..." Yelled Oakley's voice from behind Winnie.

Winnie was puzzled for a second before taking it in. It was not a dream or a nightmare. It was reality.

Damien Knight is actually standing infront of her. All in his glory. He bent down to Oakley's level, picked her up in his arms and pecked her cheeks with kisses.

"I miss you." Oakley said to him, tightening her smell arms around him.

"I miss you too, princess." Damien said, looking straight towards Winnie. For a moment she felt like the statement was more for her than it was for Oakley.

"Let's go in." Oakley wiggled out of his arms and grabbed him inside with her. Both of them left Winnie alone, hanging on the door.

How can he even come in without permission? She was wondering.

But he still intimidates her, so she can't really be questioning anything.

She followed them inside. She glanced at him, very annoyed at him for acting that if he owns this apartment.

Damien looked around the small yet cozy apartment of Winnie's. He was quite impressive to say the least. Even though it was very small but something about this apartment made him feel homely. Maybe it was due to her presence here. Along with the simple decoration of the place. Nothing was too fancy. Nothing was too expensive. Everything was ordinary yet it felt extraordinary. The nice vibes that radiated the house brought peace and love in his heart. He could live here all day, everyday without getting bored but of course with her.

He just realised he didn't even utter a simple 'hi' to her since he entered. Looking embarrassingly towards her, he spoke with lack of confidence. "Hi."

He cursed himself at how pathetic he sounded.

"Hi." She looked still oblivious to what was happening.

"I am here to get Oakley..." he was cut off by Oakley herself. "Me not going anywhere."

Usually Damien doesn't really appreciate Oakley's stubborn behaviour but today he was glad that she was a stubborn child. As much as he wanted to say, it was alright and she can stay here as long as she wants. But he refrained. He has to act a bit.

"Come on, we have to go." In his heart he muttered, 'please don't agree.'

"No. No. No."

"Ok. If that's what you want." The words slipped his tongue before he could stop. He took a quick look at Winnie, who was still shocked at his arrival.

His eyes lingered on her face for a minute. He realised she looked absolutely gorgeous. And even though she was wearing a Mickey mouse pyjamas, she looked hot. He noticed how she seemed more healthy. He couldn't help but feel bad at how he has always treated her in the past. Remembering all the time when he would rush her to get to the office and make her skip the breakfast. Or how he would make her work during her lunchtime. He mentally cursed himself for being such a bad gentleman.

"And if it is alright with Winnie." He doesn't usually call her with her first name. He always found it very childish. It was always 'Miss Smith.' Indeed very Professional.

"No.. no.. yes.. ok I have no problem." She stuttered. And Damien smirked.

His presence still effects her. That is a good sign.

"I'll get my suitcase from the car." Damien said out loud before leaving out of the scene, making Winnie breath in a bit of relaxation.

"Me happy Damien come here." Oakley told Winnie. Winnie smiled back at her. She couldn't really tell Oakley that Winnie herself wasn't happy of Damien's uninvited arrival.

"Winnie, you hate Damien?" Oakley's question shocked Winnie as her eyes widened. Was it that noticable? She wondered. Well, she doesn't really hate or dislike him. But he is not the person she would like to reconnect with.

"It's not that." Winnie said in a low voice.

"Then you love Damien?"

"Mmmm." She was left speechless. What is she supposed to answer to that? Love. She once loved him with all her heart and soul. But not anymore. She doesn't love him anymore. She can't even bring herself to like him even. Or so, she thinks.

"No, I don't." She told Oakley.

"You should love him because I love him and you love me." Oakley told Winnie her childish concept of love.

A smile appeared on Winnie's face at Oakleys innocents concept about love.

If only loving someone was that easy.

Winnie sat on the sofa, thinking about where is he going to sleep. Her apartment is only one bed. Although the sofa is big, but for the billionaire, Damien Knight, it will be very uncomfortable. He entered back in the apartment with his small suitcase and a laptop bag. His eyes met hers. She remembers how his eyes were always cold and hard. But this time, they showed emotions. If she was good at comprehending, she would say it was love. But Damien Knight only loves himself.

He put the suitcase on the side and proceeded to sit on the sofa beside her.

No one uttered a word for a minute.

"I hope you don't mind me staying here for a night, Winnie." He started the conversation.

She felt piteous. Here she can't speak without stuttering and there he is, shining with confidence.

Looking up to meet his eyes again, she gave him a fake little smile. "Everything is alright, Mr Knight." Sighed, the sentence was uttered in confidence. She mentally patted her shoulders.

"You can freshen up and if you would like to eat something, help yourself. You can sleep on the sofa, the bed isn't enough for 3 people. I am going to go sleep now." She said, standing up.

Damien felt his heart tightened at her cold words. He told himself that he deserves this. He watched as she took steps towards her room which was just beside the living room. He noticed all her steps carefully, as well checking her figure out. As she made her way inside the room, she slowly turned around; their eyes met and in a second she banged the door shut.

I know I am updating after a while. 🤦🏻‍♀️
