《His Personal Chef》Chapter 49

Winnie yawned, finally waking up from the morning sleep. The first thing she checked was the time, her eyes widened at 8:00 am. She is definitely late for the office but she wasn't in a mood to go either.

She stood up from the bed as fast and decided to check on Damien if he left yet.

She found him in the kitchen making himself a cup of coffee. "Mr Knight?" She called.

"I apologise, I over slept. Please give me fifteen minutes. I'll get ready." She told him.

"Wait,"

"Get rest for today. You don't have to come." Winnie smiled, couldn't find a better opportunity than this to miss a day at office. And either way, she was extremely tired.

"Are you sure?" When he nodded, she jumped out of happiness inside her heart not showing it outside though, how happy she is; otherwise he would think she is well healthy enough to come to office.

"'Okey, thanks. Have a nice day at office, Mr Knight."

"Don't wait for me at night, I'll be late." As if she waits. She rolled her eyes but smiled at the hours of freedom ahead of her. Nothing can go better than this.

She was a little confused at how he offered her a holiday, she wasn't expecting some generosity after that kick. Though thank goodness, he didn't ask about it, or avenged it. Not yet. Maybe who knows, he will later.

Winnie regretted what she did but he deserved it.

After he left for the office, Winnie did her morning routine and ordered breakfast for herself.

She was craving for a good unhealthy breakfast; doughnuts in the morning along with chocolate shake sounds like a perfect breakfast.

Mesnwhile the breakfast took time to be delivered, she quickly cleaned the whole house, so she can enjoy the doughnuts without a worry that she still has to the house chores not finished. And have some rest and maybe have enough time to hangout with Xander. All sounds good.

When she was still cleaning, the door bell rang. She huffed at the thought that Damien might have came back with a plan to ruin her perfect going day.

She stomped her legs on the floor and went to open the door. If it's Damien then she will close it back, won't let him enter. But him coming at this time is impossible as he is a workaholic, for once she was happy that he is a workaholic.

Peeking through the door hole, she found not so familiar man on the door. What if he is some physco rapist. She thought the worst. Then slapped her forehead for being so negative. She slowly opened the door, not wide enough for him to enter but just to poke her face out.

"Yes?" She said.

"Is Miss Smith here?" The man asked.

She was gonna say, 'yes it's me.' But decided against it and said, "Miss Smith is not at home."

She saw as the boy relaxed up a little, adjusting his tie, he told her, "I am here to collect Mr Knight's laptop."

"And who are you?" She just can't give anyone Damien's laptop. He will go absolutely mad. And it's certainly not safe or sagacious thing to do.

"I am his Personal Assistant." Her jaw dropped at his answer before she burst out into laughter.

So some man, probably his opponent or enemy knocked on the door; thinking someone who is inside, will give him Damien's laptop so he can probably do some cheating. And the funny part is, he doesn't even know he is talking with; Damien's real Personal Assistant. She smiled at her smartness. Clever enough to figure it out already.

"Okey, I'll call Mr Knight to make sure." She said and banged the door on his face.

She didn't wanna call Damien but considering how this man could be dangerous, ran chills down her body. It would be best if she just calls him.

She rang him thrice before he finally picked up, "Miss Smith,"

"There is a man outside..-"

"Yes, Mr Gerald. I sent him to get my laptop." Replied Damien.

Cutting the call, Winnie asked the man if he was Mr Gerald.

She wasn't still assured. Maybe the man got exchanged in the middle because he claims to be Damien's PA. And she is his PA, not him.

She didn't welcome him in, she went to Damien's room to get his laptop. She has no fault if it isn't the same man. She said to herself.

Opening the door, she handed him the precious laptop but not letting him go yet. She needs answers to come questions.

"Do you want water?" She offered.

"That would be nice." He replied.

She welcomed him in, and made him sit on the couch as she went to the kitchen to get the glass of water.

As all the cleaning equipments were on the floor, the man thought her to be his maid or something.

"So tell me something about this so called job of yours at Mr Knight's." She asked.

"Nothing. Mr Knight is a good man, pay me more than enough but frankly it's a very tiring job. I don't only have to do my tasks but take care of other's mess."

"Why would you take care of other's mess."

"Few months ago, he hired a girl to be his PA. Not that she is his PA. But he pretended to give her that post. And let me tell you, all of her presentation or work in general are a mess. It's like she doesn't know the b of business." The man looked angry as he spilled the secrets.

"Uh-huh," Shocked, she didn't know what to answer.

"And due to her, I have to work in secret. Just because she will be hurt if she finds out that she is incapable of doing her role." Winnie gulped in, at all the new information.

She thought she was doing a good job?

"I think Mr Knight favours her a lot. Otherwise, he always dismisses useless employees." He continued.

USELESS.

The boy looked too angry.

"I would be fine if I didn't have to clean all her messes all the time. Not even one of the task she is given, she does it correct. And when I ask Mr Knight if I should restart works done by her from 0, he says no, she has done some 'hard work', just try to remake it the best."

"I wonder what's her name." Winnie spoke. Maybe he isn't talking about her. Hopefully it's not her.

"I don't know her first name but her second name is Smith. Mr Knight said she might be home so don't let her know that I'm his actual PA. And behave like just an employee from the office."

She smiled a little at him.

Her heart felt pain inside at discovering all this information.

All this time, she was thinking she was a genius PA. But she isn't capable to start with.

"I'll go now. Thanks for the water." She showed him out.

Winnie was a little offended at the news. Not knowing what to do, she completed the cleaning though her mind still on the things the man said.

How very offensive his comments were. But she knew better to question them. She is aware that as a PA, she is always working worst. And not to forget she takes a lot of holidays. But she is still being paid for it. She wonders if she is not someone who can benefit him in the company why is he paying her then. Her salary is quite high, she gets money for being the PA, the chef, the maid and mainly for every thing. She understands now that the money she gets, might be unfair. She mentally groaned, is she under his debt again.

Only one person helps ease her mind. She called Xander,

"Hey, princess." Said Xander in a sleepy tone.

"Should we meet today?" She asked.

"I have to attend this event. Do you wanna be my date in it?"

"Oh, will there be a lot of people?" She asked.

"Yes,"

"And the media?"

"Yes the media too but I can protect you from the media."

"Sure?"

"Yes, princess."

"Okey, then I'll come." Winnie replied. That will be great to take her mind of certain things.

"Great. So I'll pick you up from your penthouse?"

"Yep but at what time?"

"7." Winnie thought it would be totally fine as she remembered Damien telling her that he will be late.

Then the door bell rang again, this time with her breakfast. Cutting the call, Winnie opened the door and got her delicious breakfast. After eating, she completed the rest of her chores and decided for a nap.

...

Her phone rang continous, waking her up from the nap. She picked up the call without looking at the callers id and muttered in a sleepy tone, "Huh?"

"Princess, I'm outside." Her eyes snapped opened from the nap.

She looked at the time and it was just five. How come Xander is here so early. She stood up from the bed and went to open the door.

"How are you so early." She said, opening the door.

"Looks like someone had a good nap."

Confused Winnie invited him in, he had his hands full of shopping bags. And he didn't look ready to attend the event either. Maybe he came here to get ready, Winnie dismissed the thought.

Winnie went to the kitchen while Xander settled himself on the couch. She brought a glass of orange juice for him. Giving it to him, she sat beside him.

"We have to leave at seven."

She isn't ready at all, not even decided what to wear. Maybe she shouldn't go. And now thinking about it, she'd rather stay in bed than attending a social event, her introvert side kicking in.

"I brought a dress for you." Xander gave her the two bag he brought with him.

"I have dresses, Xander. It wasn't needed." She said, not taking it.

"Please, I'll be really happy if you wear it. By the way, I have to go back to home and get ready. I'll pick you up at 7 straight." Kissing her cheek, he stood up and left.

Winnie groaned, she didn't even get the chance to tell him that she is not interested to go anymore. But well, she gave him her words so it's better if she just accompanies him.

She went to the bathroom to have a relaxing shower first. She needs to relieve some stress before the event. She washed herself clean, also washing away all the stress for the time.

She did a very light, natural and decent makeup.

She cursed herself as she had a thought that she didn't even look at the dress before applying the makeup. Though it was very light but what if it doesn't compliment the dress. Then she will look like a clown.

She huffed but still not checking the dress. She curled her hair only from bottom. It was now time to check those bags and see what he brought for her.

Opening the first bag, she found a small necklace box. She opened it to find the most beautiful diamond necklace inside. She closed it back instantly. It was too much. The bag had a pair of heels too inside. She tried it and it fitted her perfectly. She wondered how he got the exact size.

She looked through the other bag and gasped in awe. It was a short, normal classic one. But too revealing, she doesn't wear dresses like this.

But thankfully her makeup was suitable for the dress.

She wore it and surprisingly, it fitted perfectly. She mentally made a note to ask Xander, how did he get a dress sized so accurate.

When she was all done, she texted Xander that she's ready and got a reply back fast. "Will be there in 5 minutes."

It was 6:45, she took long enough to get ready.

Carefully trying not to fall with the heels, she practiced brisk walking for about 5 minutes. She was feeling nervous, the dress was elegant but she was feeling nervous and insecure in it. Not to forget, it's too tiny, showing off her thighs.

As the 5 minutes passed away, she walked out of the penthouse. Xander was waiting outside in his car, looking like a handsome prince. Winnie smiled as he helped her to get in.

"You look beautiful as always." Commented Xander.

"You look handsome too." Commented back Winnie as she sat inside, wearing her seatbelt. Xander also got in and drove them off to the event.

"Don't you leave me alone there." Winnie said.

"'Of course, I won't."

"Is it gonna be awkward."

"No, just be yourself. I promise nothing will go wrong. And I bet you'll be the most beautiful lady of the event." Said Xander, boosting her confidence.

The reached the destination of the event. Looking outside the window, Winnie got more nervous as she saw rich people going in. Even the way, they were walking screamed richness.

Xander got out and gave the keys to one of the chauffeur to park his car and opened the door for Winnie. He took her hands in his as they made their way inside. The camera man were all around running with cameras.

They were gonna take the photos of the new couple who just entered; Winnie and Xander. Xander directed them to stop. All the camera men understood and didn't bother them again.

Winnie was thankful for Xander into convincing her to wear this dress or esle she would have felt out of place. All women there, were walking elegantly. No trace of uncomfortable or insecurity on their face. Winnie envied them. She wished she had proper social skills.

Xander put his hand around her waist, pulling her a little closer as they walked.

"So is it a gathering of rich people around?" Winnie questioned.

"No," He chuckled. "A friend just opened a new company so the celebration is for that."

"Oh."

He took her to the bar counter where he, for himself got a glass of red wine and Winnie only wanted a glass of water.

"Xander." A girl said coming towards them, taking Xander into a hug.

"Got yourself a girl, huh?" She spoke, looking at Winnie from head to toe.

"Hi, I'm Alice." She extended her hand towards Winnie.

"Winnie," Alice laughed a little hearing her name.

"Winnie the Pooh!" She exclaimed.

Winnie, finding it a little offensive spoke back, "Alice the wonderland." All three of them laughed at her reply back. Xander smiled, at least she can stand up for herself. If insulted.

"I'm so glad to meet you, Winnie. At least someone has my kind of a name." She said, taking her into a hug.

"By the way, I'm this idiot's sister."

"Oh!"

Xander and Alice talked about their family and personal stuff which Winnie didn't understand. So she excused herself for toilet as she felt the urge to pee.

Great time with her bladder, it always becomes weak at wrong timings. She went to the toilet and finished her business. The ladies outside were retouching their makeup, all of them looked beautiful.

As she was washing her hands, someone uttered, "Well, well, well, if it isn't the great PA of my fiance." Winnie looked at Melissa in horror through the mirror.

Winnie decided to ignore her and without a reply back got outside. It's better if she leaves now before anyone sees her, she is sure that Damien is somewhere here and if Melissa tells him that Winnie is here too, then she is doomed.

Melissa followed her out of the toilet, grabbing her hand; she took her to Damien. Winnie tried to get out of her tight grip but failed. Her nails were crushing into her small wrist, piercing through her skin.

Melissa pushed Winnie towards Damien as she hissed in a low voice, "Does she has to come along everywhere with us." It was low enough, no one could hear them.

Damien was taken aback, finding Winnie there. "Miss Smith," He spoke. Winnie looked at him in fear.

"Winnie," Said another voice from another direction.

Xander stood on the side watching the scene whereas Damien clenched his fist figuring out everything. He hold her hand in his, "We are leaving." Uttered loud enough for all four of them to hear. He grabbed her all the way out.

He manhandled her as soon as they got near his car, jerking her into the car. He got in too, speeding the car into the direction of home.

When they finally reached home, he grabbed her to the penthouse. His face was fuming in anger and Winnie got scared, this time she has managed to piss him off more than ever.

As soon as they got inside the penthouse, he yanked her not hard enough to make her fall but due to the imbalance of heels, she fell down.

He grabbed her up and carried her to the living room in bridal style. There, he laid her on the couch and stood angry infront of her.

"So Xander McCain, is the boyfriend you were talking about yesterday."

He started.

"You were with him yesterday, weren't you?" He chuckled to himself as if not believing anything at all.

Winnie just turned her face to the other direction. She was getting scared, he doesn't look like he is in his senses. She was scared, he could do anything to her due to the anger and the madness.

"You proved what you are; a desperate rich man hunter." Her eyes shed tears as he said those words.

Broken Winnie just hicupped in tears as she didn't have a reply back. He had finally accomplished to break their relationship beyond repair. She just laid on the couch with the newly found hatred in her heart for the man who she once loved.

"You always wanted to know why I keep kissing you, right?"

Now, she doesn't. She just wanted him to stop talking. Her head was in pain. And so was her heart. Like it's been stabbed.

"You're someone I used to gain personal pleasure. But since your legs are wide opened for every man out there, I don't think I need you anymore."

"I quit." With a lot of bravery she finally said the words she has been craving to speak.

"Sorry?" His eyebrows furrowed.

She stood up from the couch and repeated, "I quit."

He smirked, giving her a look full of sympathy, "So you quit?" He mocked, taking the whole situation to be a joke.

She grabbed her phone from the couch and decided to leave the penthouse as she has already resigned which he clearly didn't understand. She won't live another moment with a man who has been just using her.

"What the fuck is wrong with you." He shouted.

"Did you not understand, Mr Knight. I said I quit. I am resigning. And you can sue me for all I care, it's better to live in a prison than to live with an asshole like you."

"Very well said then. Tomorrow the cops will be after you."

"Fuck you, Mr Knight." She said, leaving the penthouse.

The man and his ego can rot here for all she cares.

This time she is fully done with him.

As she stepped outside of the building, she called the only person who she knows can help her.

"Hello,"

But before a reply back, the phone dropped on the floor as a car honked at her.
