《His Personal Chef》Chapter 47

Winnie snuggled more into Damien's chest, thinking somewhere in mind that it's a warm yet hard pillow, getting herself comfortable. But she was feeling cold inside the duvet, someone kept pulling it more towards themselves, irritating her whole night.
Feeling the cold in her feet, Winnie grabbed the duvet and pulled it all towards herself but whoever was holding it, didn't let it go. The more she pulls, the other person pulls it back more strongly. Winnie gave all of her energy to it but as the other person loosen his grip; she fell down on her bum.
"Not funny you moron." She said, sleepy, getting back to bed again. But she didn't know she directly laid down on the other person.
"Miss Smith, would you like to get off?"
Why does she hear his stupid voice during her sleep. Can this man leave her alone for once.
"Winnie."
Opening her eyes instantly to the most awkward position ever, Winnie mentally slapped herself for forgetting that she was in his room in the first place. She quickly got off him with an annoyed expression. "I remember you saying you were gonna take the couch."
"The bed is big enough for 3 people, I couldn't fit myself on the couch."
"Ah Giant elephant."
"What was that?"
"Is Chris outside?"
"And why do you care about him?"
"Because he is a guest?"
"He is my guest not yours. Miss Smith, I think you're getting too comfortable in my house, aren't you?"
"Ah!" She was loss of words.
"Don't forget you're a guest too so don't meddle in my business and my life associates."
His house and his guest, so he should take care of them by himself. 'But isn't he paying you for it, dumbhead.' My mind mocked. Bitter truth his words though, it's his house. Until now she was considering this to be her home too, but nah, not a home just a house. She doesn't even know why she is getting hurt by his meaningless statement. It's not even the house part that hurt her. The efforts she put here, to clean it, to decorate it with all heart. Aside from that, taking care of him and his needs, it hurt deep to be called as a 'guest' only. She thought they were past that phrase. Five years won't pass, 6 months into this job; felt like a century. God knows if she can even survive that much under his mercy.
"Can't wait to be out of here." She commented back as she got up and went out of the room.
Damien, the toxic person, disturbed her mood early in the morning. She wondered what a wasted, horrid day it's gonna be.
"Winnie," Chris was standing beside the door.
Her eyes widened as Chris looked at her up to down, for sure already guessed she is wearing Damien's shirt. He had a smirk on his face that puzzled Winnie. She was sure he wasn't checking her out though. On his face, there was genuine happiness. Also thankfully he didn't ask anything about her coming out of Damien's room or wearing his shirt.
"Is it fine if I leave for the meeting now? Can you bring Oakley with yourself in the office and I'll pick her up?"
"Sure,"
"Hey, you look off? What happened?"
"I am just not a morning person."
She replied and turned to leave.
"Winnie, thanks." She turned around to look at him, he had a very sad yet thankful expression on his face. "Without you it wouldn't have been possible." He uttered.

Winnie just nodded her head not quite getting his point. She murmured 'welcome' and went to her room.
It was already seven in the morning and there was no time to go back to bed again. Why did you have to sleep in his room last night, Winnie, why. She cursed herself for agreeing to sleep there just to be insulted in the morning by him.
She did her morning routine as fast as she could. Really not in a mood for anything else or even tarding with her activities. When she went out, Damien was sitting on the dining table, already dressed up for work however Oakley wasn't there.
Is she still sleeping in his room. Did he not wake her up.
"Can you wake her up and get her ready?" He said as he noticed her.
'How about you do it yourself? She is your child not mine.' Winnie replied in her mind, she would have replied back if the matter wasn't about Oakley, that child deserves better. She stomped her foots towards his room. She does not like to get orders and that's what he does every time he speaks to her. It gets on her nerves. She had in mind that she has to get Oakley ready but getting this order from him frustrated her.
Okaley was already awake, she rubbed her eyes as she yawned. "Good Morning, Winnie." She greeted in a happy tone.
"Hi, Morning bird." Winnie extended my arms for Oakley and she came towards her, taking her into a hug.
"Damien?"
"He is outside waiting for you to get ready."
She picked her up and helped her get ready. As yesterday they didn't bring her spare outfit, Winnie had to adjust her with the same. Damien and her clothes of course won't fit a 2 year old. After getting her ready, she took her out in her arms.
"Morning, princess." Damien said in a cheerful voice.
"Good Morning, Damien."
"I have a surprise for you." Oakley jumped out of happiness as hearing the word 'surprise'.
"Give me please."
The door bell rang, cutting the conversation.
"Here it is." He looked towards Winnie and directed her to open the door. "Can you look at it." And like a maid that she is, went to open the door. It would have been better if he didn't ask her so 'nicely' to check the door, it's her job anyway.
She was getting very tired of living this kind of life. Looking out and serving for him is exhausting. He is not even someone who holds regards for anyone, he doesn't appreciate her work and more importantly her feelings for him keep coming back. She just wants to run away from here.
She opened the door and there stood a man with a trolley, whatever was on it covered with a gift bag.
"Is this Mr Knight's resident?"
"Yep, And I'm his assistant."
"Can you please sign here and take it to Mr Knight?"
She signed on the document, "And if you can please bring the trolley back to me."
She struggled with the trolley that was too heavy and grabbed it towards the living room, her energy drained out. If it didn't have those tyres, she wouldn't have been able to carry it.
The delivery man could have helped her but he didn't. Ah! The world is lacking gentlemen.
Oakley was awestruck looking at it while Damien just gave her a small smile.
"Is that my surprise?" She asked.

"Yes, let's see what this might be, shall we?" He picked her up and together with her unwrapped it.
Winnie and Oakley both gasped as the fish tank, a mini aquarium got unwrapped. All the little fish inside swimming happily, too beautiful. It had all the types and colors of baby fishes. Like a fish land.
"My?"
"Yes it's for you." Oakley knocked on the glass, trying to make the fishes come close to her but it scared them away.
"The delivery man wants the trolley back." Winnie told him.
"Well then put the fish tank somewhere for now and take the trolley back." He said in a teasing tone.
Was he being serious.
There is no way she can pick this gaint tank on her own. If he doesn't help her with it, she might lose her arms here.
Winnie however wanted to act brave, she put her arms on the middle of it and tried to pull it up. Her energy was wasting on nothing because she cannot even hold it. And she doesn't want to do injustice to the fishes, what if it falls, she is not taking any chances.
"Help her, Damien." Ordered Oakley to Damien.
"Leave it." He said to her as he grabbed the tank as if it weigh nothing and put it on the floor. Winnie rolled his eyes at his courageous act and grabbed the trolley to return it to the delivery man.
"Winnie, you love?" Oakley asked as he Winnie came back to the living room. Oakley sat down on the floor, admiring the fishes. She made Damien sit down too.
"Yes, I love it, Oakley. Now you have so many fish friends." She said to Oakley, making her laugh. Okaley started counting the number of fishes inside it, but she could only reach to ten, not knowing all of the counting.
"Eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen and fifteen. There are fifteen fishes here." Damien helped her.
"Fifteen?"
"Yes, princess."
"I asked five. Daddy no happy me got so many fishy."
"Daddy can't do shit about it it." Damien replied, this time not holding back his bad words.
Winnie cleared her throat to divert Oakleys attention on Damien's bad word. She glared at him for using bad word with a child.
"Winnie, make my friends fishy breakfast, please. We all hungry." Winnie chuckled, nodding her head, went to the kitchen.
She prepared pancakes for everyone and a cup of coffee for the coffee addict. As she came back to the living room, she saw Damien and Oakley were talking to the fishes in baby tones. Damien was using a tone, she never heard before. Winnie erupted into fits of laughter. They both knocked the fish tank like babies, well Oakley is a baby but Damien was behaving like one. He had a small smile on his face while carelessly playing with Oakley. Winnie felt her heart exploding with happiness. She was happy that he was showing some emotion, his heart not made of stone, eh.
"Food ready?" Oakley asked.
"Yes."
Okaley grabbed the pancakes and wanting to feed the fishes, "Oakley fishes don't eat pancakes." She pouted.
"But they can eat fruits. I'll bring them." Winnie said.
"No, these pancakes fruits I use." She said as she grabbed the fruits from the pancakes along with Damien, as they opened the upside of tank and threw the fruits inside, feeding the fishes.
The fishes gathered around as they noticed the food they were provided with. Winnie sighed at the mess they were making out of pancakes.
"This one eat."
"This one is not nice."
"Oh, is the biggest."
"I don't like yellow. Take it out."
Oakley kept commenting to Damien while they fed the fishes.
"We'll take the yellow one out and bring her back to where she belongs."
Oh wow, the child is disliking a fish and instead of telling her not to dislike none of them. Instead he is teaching her, it's okey if you don't like something or someone in this case; just take it out. Pure Heartless technique.
"Everyone of them are fine, Okaley. She will feel left out if we only take her out." Winnie said.
"You don't have a say in it." Said Damien to Winnie in a sterned voice.
"This is your very first step in educating her to be like you." Winnie said, shaking her head in disbelief.
"Okaley, if you take her out, she will be left alone without a friend and she will be sad. Do you want her to be sad because of you?" Winnie tried to explain to her in a hope she understands.
"Ok. She stay. But me still not like it. She is a monster."
"Damien, it keeps here."
"Yes?" He asked unsure of what she was trying to say.
"Me fish live here. I take it to Daddy he not happy."
"Okey, princess." He replied as he looked at his watch. It was time to leave for office. And the fruits from the pancakes were all fed to the fishes and the pancakes were destroyed. None of them can eat it now.
"We'll eat something in the office." Said Damien to Oakley. He picked her up and grabbed his car keys without saying anything to Winnie, walked outside.
Winnie followed them all the way to the car. She was feeling down due to not having the breakfast.
Yesterday she didn't feed herself properly and now her blood pressure was low getting as she felt. Her head was spinning as she sat inside the car.
"Winnie, you angry?" Asked Oakley as she noticed Winnie's quiet mood.
"Why would I be."
"Cause I no like yellow fish?"
"It's okey, Oakley. You're just a child. It's a job of us adults to educate you with the difference between right and wrong." She said the next sentence a little louder for him to hear.
"Okey, me love yellow fish later." Winnie chuckled.
As they reached the office, Winnie got helped Oakley getting out first. Due to the headache she was getting, she clumsily fell down on floor while existing the car.
She heard a deep chuckle from him as she struggled to get up.
Let him enjoy, have fun. One day he will be in pain and she will enjoy, she said to herself.
He came forward and extended his hand towards her for help. Winnie glared at him, not taking his hand she stood up on her own and walked inside.
"We are going for breakfast." Said Damien.
Winnie nodded but didn't follow them to the food court instead she took the directions towards the elevator.
"Miss Smith," He called out.
"I'm not hungry." She said without turning around. She stepped inside the elevator and pushed the last floor button.
She sat down on her chair, rubbing her forehead. She doesn't remember how she got the headache, probably due to dealing with Damien all the time.
She checked for his schedule and thanked god there was no meeting today, less work. She isn't capable of doing a lot of work today.
A man appeared on the floor, no one is typically allowed her.
Winnie was gonna ask him to leave but just then her phone vibrated with a message.
'A man will come to take a blue file #101. It's on my shelf, give it to him.' Texted Damien.
Winnie stood up and told the man to wait as she will bring the file. She went in and searched for it. Ah, his office is filled with all the files how is she gonna search for blue colored one. There was a cabinet full of blue ones, as she took one out all others fell down on the floor, from some the pages even flied out.
She looked at the pile fallen on the ground, it wasn't any of those.
Before he comes here and see the mess she has made, she sat down on the floor to clean it up but to her luck the bottom shelf had the #101 file. She grabbed it and hurriedly gave it to the man.
She went back to clean the mess, settling every paper back in whatever file they belong to. She doesn't even know. She kept doing it until her eyes caught familiar word written on a paper.
'Smith Mansion.'
She checked the address on the first paper that was written beside it and indeed it was her father's mansion. Winnie was shocked, How come Damien has this type of document in his hold.
Winnie tried to give it a quick read but stopped as she heard the steps coming towards the office. As quickly as she eyed through it, she could only read the landlord name written on it. The document fell down from her hand and she took in the information.
Landlord: Damien White Knight.
Damien and Oakley stepped into the office. His eyes widened in question at looking at her state, Winnie not knowing they're in the room already, put the file back. Sweats dropping down her forehead, it was getting hard for her to breath.
"What was that?" He asked.
She turned around, hesitantly.
"When I was searching for the file it all fell off." She replied in a small voice and stepped out of the office.
In her mind, all the events that took place after her father's death played on and on.
'Are you going to sleep on streets now, Miss Smith."
As she recalled that memory, she clearly remembers the humourous tone in his voice, he mocked and he enjoyed.
Perhaps those men who were seizing her house back then were sent by him. The house is under his control and he didn't care to tell her.
And all of his strategy makes sense now, he did come back with her to the mansion after funeral just so he could suggest her to come with him and since she was weak enough, it was an easy plot.
She believed all of it.
Every lie of his.
But why, why did he do this?
'To see you broke and miserable, Winnie. What else.'
Her head started spinning more and this time she couldn't control. She fell down on the floor, unconscious.
