《His Personal Chef》Chapter 46

Since we already had the takeout, I decided it to make something light, easy to prepare. As the takeout won't be enough for all of us I have no other chance than to cook. I quickly peaked inside the Domino's bag, there were two boxes of pizza. I think it would be enough for all four of us but just to be careful. I am sure Oakley won't eat more than two and about me, I'm not even hungry to start with. Only one will suffice. I just want to jump on the bed. But Chris and Damien would need something more to satisfy their stomach.

I decided to go with easy quick chicken curry. Easy-peasy, lemon squeezy. Nah not that easy when you're tired.

"Hungry." Said Oakley.

"This will take at least 40 minutes, Oakley. How about you I give you pizza instead?" I suggested.

She is a kid, I dont think she will be interested in eating chicken curry either. So why making her wait when her dinner is right there.

"Pizza?" She was delighted.

I picked her up from the ground and made her sit on the kitchen counter. I put the box infront of her with a glass of strawberry juice.

"Thanks, Winnie."

"Daddy," She called out for Chris.

Meanwhile I washed the boneless chicken and cut it into small pieces while I put the saucepan on the stove, heat the oil over a medium heat. I cooked the chopped onion and garlic in it for few minutes and later added curry powder along with tomatoes.

"Yes, princess. Were you calling me?" Said Chris entering the kitchen.

"It smells delicious here." He commented.

I nodded while adding the washed chicken on the pan. Carefully coating all the ingredients with it. When I was well satisfied, I put about half jug of boiled kettle water in it.

"Are you eating Pizza?" Chris said to Oakley.

"You want?" Oakley offered Chris.

"No, I think I'd rather eat what Winnie is cooking." I passed Chris a smile.

Why do I feel like I'm forgetting something.

What might I be forgetting.

Ugh, rice.

"Ugh," I said out loud.

"What happened?" Asked Chris.

"I forgot I had to cook rice too." I answered.

"No problem, I'll help you."

"Do you even know how to make rice, mister?" I asked in a playful tone.

"Of course, I do. I am a single father to a two year old. Sometimes when her nanny isn't around, I have to cook for her." Though he said in a normal tone but I could I feel the hurt behind his voice.

Oh, I wish I could help you, Chris. Maybe I can though. Oakley needs a mother and he needs a life partner. Certain someone they both can love together and can agree to. I don't even know any girl to begin with so how will I search one for him.

"Where are the rice?"

"Bottom cabinet." I pointed out the cabinet.

I was mixing my curry. It was almost ready. I just have to stir it so it doesn't burn on the bottom of the pan.

"Found it." Chris opened the rice and washed it. I carefully saw as he did his job neat and clean.

"Damien," Oakley said.

Did the Stupid face graced us with his presence in the kitchen. I don't recall him coming here very often. He is probably here to check out if me and Chris are plotting is murder. Hah, I wish, Damien. Just kidding.

"Pizza?" Oakley asked.

I looked at her direction. Damien was standing very close to her while his eyes glared at Chris. If only he could kill Chris with his stares. Chris on the other hand was only paying attention to his task.

"I think I washed them just fine." He said to me.

"Yep, looks good. I have boiled the water on this pan. Can you please add them here."

"Sure."

"Thanks, I'll take it from here." I switched off the curry stove as it was now done. And paid attention to the rice.

"Welcome."

The rice was taking time to boil, I stood there, looking at Oakley. Damien didn't leave yet and Chris also stood next to Okaley. No one uttered a word, making the atmosphere awkward in the kitchen.

Suddenly Okaley burped and I erupted into a fit of laughter. While Chris shook his had, "Say sorry, Oakley."

"Sorry." She said to no one in particular.

"Oakley, it wasn't offensive. You didn't need to apologise." Commented Damien.

Did I say, he will be the best father? Let me take back my words. He will the father who will be teaching bad manners to his kids whilst his wife will be scolding the kid and himself.

"Don't teach her bad manners, Damien." I think this is very in few times Chris stood up to Damien.

I mean who would want to make their kids to be a brat. What Damien said wasn't really correct. His narcissist self is enough in the world, there is no need to add more people in the list who don't apologise or thank enough. Or at all.

"I'll teach her whatever the f..

I want." Thank god he was considerate enough not to use f words in front of a little kid. Maybe I should again take my words back. Damien will be just fine with his father-ship. But I also think his children will have his attitude and ego. And that's not a good thing.

Chris didn't reply him back and stayed shut. Good move, Chris. He is Damien Knight. No one wins from him. He gets to say the last words. But he think everyone stays mute infront of him due to the fear they have, they only stay shut because there is no point in arguing with a senseless human who has no brain cells. Or should I say a heart.

I took the rice out as they were done. To my appreciation, Chris saw me preparing the dining table and helped me instead of standing in the Damien's awkwardness who was kept glaring at us like like an evil witch.

When I brought the last dish, we sat down and soon Damien also joined with Oakley. He sat her down on the table with her pizza and glass of juice that she hasn't touched yet.

But as I looked at the piece of pizza on her hand, she only had taken one bite. Only one bite from past hour. I pity Chris for being a single father. How does he manage all of this. Hats off to him.

"Oakley sit down on the chair." Said Chris in his fatherly voice.

"I want to sit here."

"We are all sitting on the chair, Oakley."

"Let her be," Argued Damien in extra grumpy voice.

"If you want to teach her manners, do it outside my house." Well, that's unnecessarily rude.

Chris however ignored his comment and Oakley who was sitting on the table. And focused on eating.

"This is delicious, Winnie, you have to share your recipes with me." Chris winked and I thanked him.

Isn't it nice to hear someone complimenting your dishes. Well, Damien here, doesn't do that at all. So let me enjoy my moment.

"Bullshit," He muttered under his breath.

I glanced towards him and the pizza that he was gonna eat before, he put it back and helped himself with the chicken curry and rice. I smirked, pizza looks no good beside my dish. Look at my dish, it practically is begging everyone to savour it inside their mouth.

"This is too salty and spicy." He said, taking a bite.

Well, I don't even know how it taste like because I didn't taste it neither do I plan to. But if Damien is right about it, then how come Chris complimented.

"Its really not." Chuckled Chris.

If it was really salty then why is he still eating? Nonsense!

"I'm done." Finally finishing her one piece, Oakley said clapping her hands.

"I'm done too so we should get going." No, he wasn't done with his plate. I guess Damien's attitude affected him.

"Go where, daddy?"

"Home."

"No!"

"Yes, Oakley. Come on." He said, standing up.

"No! No! No!" Oakley said, loudly.

"Stay with Winnie and Damien, Daddy please." Tears rolled down her eyes as she pouted towards him.

"No, Oakley. Tomorrow is a working day and daddy has alot of errands to run. We can stay any other time?"

"No. Now." She fussed.

"Stay." Said Damien, directed towards Chris. He looked directly in his eyes and gave him a message; if I tell you to stay, you stay. No more arguments.

"You both can stay. But if you really have to leave for office from yours, you can go. We'll take care of her." I elaborated.

"Yesssss!"

"And you haven't even finished your plate yet."

As I said, he sat back, shaking his head and continued eating.

"After dinner we watch movie?" Oakley came towards me and whispered in my ears.

"Sure." I said to her.

"What movies do you like?"

I don't think Damien would fancy the idea of watching a movie with us. So it won't be uncomfortable.

When I was done eating. It was time to do the dishes. Ugh, I hate doing dishes. Worst thing ever. I can make tons and tons of food but I'm too lazy with washing and not to forget the dish washer isn't working from 2 weeks. Not to myself, I have to tell Damien we need a new dishwasher. Gathering all the dishes from the dining table I hurried to the kitchen to do my task. The faster, the better.

"Thanks for the dinner, Winnie. Do you want help with the dishes?" Oh, how much I would appreciate it but, "Welcome and no thanks." I replied. He is just a guest. Wouldn't be nice asking him to do dishes.

"I want to help though." He stood beside me, using another sponge he started with the big saucepans.

"Leave, I'll help her. You're just a guest after all." I blinked my eyes to make sure I'm not dreaming.

Is mighty Damien offering for help which I might add he never did before. He doesn't even make an effort to put back his cup or plate back to the kitchen. Much less wash one.

"We are fine." I told him. And he shook his head at me.

He came and stood between a space in the middle of Chris and I, kinda pushing Chris away. His stupid behaviour amused me.

"I'll leave dude, don't be so jealous." Chris laughed.

Jealous?

"I was just helping." He raised his hands up in defence towards Damien.

With his straight face, he took the sponge and dumbly looked around for the liquid. I chuckled at his behaviour. Looks like growing up with silver spoon didn't help him much. Bratty Damien is helping with the dishes. I can never forget this. I might be exaggerating but this is an epic moment for me.

I passed him the liquid but my eyes widened at the boo boo. He can't do the dishes, it can infect his boo boo.

"I don't think you should be doing this." I said.

"You'd rather prefer his help, huh?" He said right into my ear.

Why does he has to take all of my doings in a wrong way. It's like his mind only seems to think opposite and negative.

"Your hand." I said.

"Oh yeah, shit." Chris said from behind.

"I'm not that weak to be effected by tiny wounds." Tiny? It's not tiny. It's all over his upside hand and little over palms.

He continued with the dishes. Pouring liquid on the dish he scrubbed it while I winced at his poor hand. It must be hurting. Why does he not listen ever. He doesn't even do dishes in the first place.

"Please." My words as always are deaf to his ears.

I just stood there helpless as he helped me with the dishes. If it was another time, I would be adding more and more dishes, just so he could learn a lesson, taking full advantage. But right now I washed as many and as fast as I could. He still managed to wash more than recommended. As we were done, I noticed he was jerking his wounded hand and gritting his teeth but not making a sound. A pity for his condition. It is okey to show your emotions, Damien. Tell us, it hurts. And we'll put an ointment on it.

Only if he wasn't this stubborn.

"Movie now." Said Oakley.

"I don't think we should be watching a movie, Oakley. It's past your bedtime."

Okaley pouted and stood infront of Damien.

"Beside Damien here needs help with his boo boo again." Explained Chris to her. He picked her up in his arms and went outside of the kitchen just moments later to come back with a first aid.

"Daddy, me do it." She said to Chris.

"Sure, princess." Replied Damien as he excitingly took a seat on the chair with the counter. Chris sat her down and provided her with the correct ointment.

Gently Oakley took care of his boo boo. He was staring at her with admiration and love. This side of Damien is only booked for her, isn't it? I pouted, remembering all of his monstrous acts with me.

When she was done, she gave Damien a cheeky grin and whispered into his ears, "Movie, Damien."

She knows how to make everyone say yes to her. Simple, include Damien in it.

She gave her hands to him, asking to be picked up. Damien picked her up in his arms and asked in a most gentle tone ever, "Which movie would you like to watch, Princess." He took her out of the kitchen in his arms with me and Chris following behind.

He sat down on the couch with Okaley on his lap.

"Baby shark."

"Is that a movie?" Damien asked her.

No, that's not a movie.

Isn't it obvious. Or Damien is just living under rocks.

"That's a song." Chris told him.

"You want to watch that?" Damien asked Okaley and she nodded.

He searched for Baby Shark on youtube and the list appeared. He asked Oakley which one she wants to watch. And played the video. I saw the length of the video and sighed in horror, one hour thirty seven minutes. Are we only gonna listen to that?

Chris sat on the other couch next to mine as bored as me. But he was taking interest on the TV. And so was Damien. I switched off the lights and decided to give it a go too.

Somehow Damien was amused by the video. He was paying it all his attention.

I noticed as the song kept coming back, back and forth but all the time with different videos. How annoying this som is getting 'doo doo doo.'

"Daddy, shark doo doo doo." And Oakley started singing along.

"Mommy, shark doo doo doo-" She sang but before I could laugh, she stopped.

"Mommy,"

"Damien, you meet mommy?" The emotions within her little baby voice brought tears in my eyes.

He cupped her little face under his big hands as he wiped her tears, "Mommy is in a good place, princess. She is watching over you, loving every part of how you're growing so fast. And she ask for you to be your happiest." Damien explained it to her.

"Mommy see me?"

"Yes. Now put a smile on, you don't want to show mommy a sad face, do you?" She smiled and put her face on his chest.

"Damien, I love you and mommy and daddy and Winnie." She said and we all chuckled. And I saw how he mouthed 'I love you' back but not loud enough for anyone to hear.

I was amazed at how comfortable she was getting with Damien. Her own daddy was sitting but she was more interested in playing with Damien. I think she thinks Damien is some kind of a cartoon character. I mean who in their right mind would want to talk to Damien otherwise, let alone play. But she is a kid, let's not forget, innocent to the world.

And the song started again. How irritating that is. How can these children listen to it without getting bored or frustrated.

"Damien, you like shark?"

"No."

"You cry with shark?" She asked.

"No."

"If you do, I, daddy and Winnie hug you." I could only imagine a scenario where Damien Knight is actually scared of someone. Let it be an animal then.

"Fish?"

"What about them?"

"Me want 5 fish, Daddy say not."

"5?"

"Yes."

"Ok, princess. That will be arranged soon anything else you would like?"

"Yes--"

I yawned and yawned, feeling the drowsiness. I don't think I can stay any longer. I laid down on the couch in a sleeping position and closed my eyes while the baby shark kept playing in the background. And also Oakleys conversation with Damien.

And I don't remember how I passed out.

It was such a big day.

...

"She's sleeping."

"Didn't ask for your opinion, Christopher."

"Should I take the guest room then?"

"Suit yourself anywhere, I don't care but don't you dare cross the limits, Christopher. Or I swear to God, this time you'll be dead."

Two voices kept whispering, disturbing my beautiful sleep. I turned around at it, clearly annoyed. But my body fell down on the floor before I could stop. I hissed in pain at my fall down.

And someone had the guts to laugh. I opened my eyes to Damien standing right infront of me with a sleeping Oakley in his hands. If he is not laughing then is it Chris.

Turning to look at him, I found him laughing at my misery. I didn't expect him to be laughing at me. But the way I fell must be funny so I'll let him go with this one. However I grabbed the couch pillow and threw it in his direction.

"Let's go to the room, Miss Smith." Said Damien. He grabbed me up by arms. Without saying anything to Chris. He grabbed me all the way to his room, while still holding the sleeping Oakley in his arms. I tried to wiggle out but his hold was tight.

Why did he bring me here though?

He laid Oakley down on his bed in the middle. And came towards me. "Hop on,"

Huh?

"You're sleeping in my room today."

"Well, excuse me and why?"

"Oakley she is in a deep slumber and I don't know if she wakes up in the middle of the night so I might need your help." That explains.

But, "I can carry her to my room then." I said.

"No." His reply was firm.

"She will be disturbed if you carry her now."

"Then she sleeps here and if in case she wakes up, you can still call me for me. I'll come." I said to him.

"Dammit, can't you understand?" He grabbed my shoulders as he gritted his teeth, growing in a lowest voice possible.

"Excuse me for not understanding."

"I'll take the couch if that's what you're worried about." He stated.

No, I wasn't worried about that. But if that's the deal then okey.

"Sure. But I have to go change still." I said, turning around to leave. But he came, stopping me.

"This dress doesn't look uncomfortable but if you still want, you can borrow my shirt and boxers."

His shirt? That means his scent on the shirt for free. I totally wouldn't mind that. And borrow? Eh, I'm never gonna return it ever.

"I get to choose the shirt?" He glared at me but nonetheless nodded.

I jumped in happiness as I walked towards his closet. I don't think he is the happiest right now, but I am. It is hard to choose from his big collection of clothes. I might even end up choosing one of his suits, just kidding. Going through his closet is literally the best thing ever, cause it smells like him. So intoxicating and heavenly.

I went to the section of his shirts and sniffed. I decided I am taking the one with his best and additional scent so it can last long. I did make sure he wasn't looking at me sniffing at them like a dog.

Finally I found this red shirt which smelled more like him, I think his scent on this shirt might last long. So I'll take this one. Looks super cozy and comfortable.

I opened this boxer section then. I inhaled the scent it. Somehow there is different scent in this section as compared to others. This smells more natural while others kind of have those colognes.
