Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.
.
"David, you have to tell her now." Damien said putting his empty cup back on the table. His tone hinted that they were gonna have a serious talk.
Winnie raised her eyebrows in question.
"Winnie, my daughter, I love you so much." Is that what he wanted to tell me? Winnie thought.
"I love you more, dad." She replied as she stood up, "I'll go sleep now." "Sit, princess. We need to talk." Said her Dad in a soft voice.
"You remember when you asked me why can you not work in our own enterprise instead of Knight Enterprise?" She nodded in response, "It's because I don't own it anymore."
He took a deep breath, "I went bankrupt." Shocked? that's understatement to what Winnie was feeling.
"I was gonna tell you everything but one day you came asking to be sent to England for studies. I don't know why out of sudden you asked that but I was revealed. I figured it would be best to sent you off to England, while I try to fix everything here. Damien helped me throughout. He was the one who paid for your education and all other expenses.
I cleared my debts by selling every property I had. And everything went back to normal." Her dad took a brief pause, not really know to break this news to his daughter. It will tear her apart.
"Until God decided it's time to reunite me with your mother." What? Winnie was confused, hoping he is not saying what she thinks he is.
"That's right, Winnie. I'm dying." Her mind went blank. Before giving it a minute to think, her dad loved pranking her all the time."Is it one of your prank? where are cameras?" Her eyes wander around the room to search for cameras but there were none. She stared back at her dad and the look he gave her said 'I wish I was pranking.' She looked at Damien, he stared back, his eyes giving her a message that everything her father said was a horrible truth.

Winnie closed her eyes, letting the tears flow. She cannot believe that. She accepted that she had no mother but now to welcome an orphan life wasn't something she was prepared for.
"You can't die." She croaked. She couldn't let her only family die. David gave his daughter a short smile, "I really miss your mother."
"I had the option to survive but I chose not to, eventually we are all gonna die so I decided I have lived enough. It's time I join your mother." She couldn't believe his words. His father was a fighter. He never broke down once in his life even when his wife died he stayed strong for his daughter so she couldn't understand why is he giving up now.
"How much time do you have left?" Winnie asked in a shaky voice. "It could be tomorrow, to 10 days or a month."
David continued. "If not for Damien, we would be homeless now. I owe him big time." He passed a smile to Damien.
"But I want your help, princess. I want you to return every penny Damien spent on us."
