《Conquer {BLEACH}》(42)

[A month after Hisana's death]
"Aw come on sensie-chan. Just a piece."
"Gin, get back to work."
"But sensie-chaaan, just eat one piece. I promise it's good." He waved the piece of what humans call chocolate in my face. I twirl my brush upwards before flicking a large drop of black ink on his face.
"Continue doing so and I'll punish you."
"I'll take my punishment any day," he says suggestively. The door swings open and a blushing Shinigami appeared. Gin has been teasing the lower ranking officers, saying a bunch of stuff that hint that he's involved with me. He isn't but adores all the reactions he gets from everyone. I want to smack that grin off his face.
"Am I interrupting something?" the officer asks.
"State your business. You're not here to gain a bit of gossip." I rose from my seat. He immediately straightened up.
"Captain Kuchiki requests your presence at his manor Diabolos-sama. He says it's urgent." I narrow my eyes before turning to look at the still grinning Gin.
"Make yourself useful and check on the members in training while I'm gone," I order. The unseated Shinigami scurried away as I went out the door. Why did Byakuya want me? What was so urgent he had to call for me? I shunpo-ed to the Kuchiki manor before entering. Byakuya was already waiting for me outside of his home.
"You called for me?"
"The Elders of the Kuchiki house want us both to be present for a meeting," he stated. People grieve differently. Some people get angry, depressed, emotional, or in denial. I'm learning right now that Byakuya's way of grieving is bottling up everything. I kinda expected this, him being head of the Kuchiki family and never being allowed to be grieve freely for too long.
"Do you know what they want?"
"No." We walked inside and went to a large meeting area. 4 elders sat in a row, sitting on silk cushions stuffed with goose feathers probably and wearing traditional clothing for noble houses. We both bow in respect to them.
"Rise." I sit up, still sitting with my hands on my lap.
"Agito Diabolos, we have looked into your file long and hard. You are one of the strongest, most influencial woman in Soul Society. A honorable Captain and a legendary teacher. You are also Byakuya's childhood friend and sparring partner. Until recently, you were not a noteable character to us Elder of the Kuchiki House. Now we are in a crisis. We find ourselves in need of a Lady of the the Kuchiki Household." My eyes widen. My entire thought process starts before thinking a mile a minute.

"Your social status will be forgotten and your honor will bring the Kuchiki Household glory. Of course, you may remain as Captain of the 3rd Company but you will also have duties tied with the Kuchiki name. Do you accept?" Why are they asking me this? Why?
"What are you asking of me?"
"We want you to marry Byakuya Kuchiki." Marry him? Marry him? I glanced at Byakuya out of the corner of my eye and see him stiff at a board, staring straight ahead. I clench my fists together and try my hardest to control my reiatsu.
"May I have until tomorrow's eve to give you my answer?" I can sense Byakuya's immediate shock.
"Yes you-" The Elder was cut off by another.
"Why not answer now? You can be rich and even more powerful than you already are. You'll be married to a good man and he'll take care of you. Why did you need time to think?"
"It's not that I need time to think. It's just that I'm not sure if I'll be able to stop myself from killing you in the next 2 minutes." I stood up and flashstepped away, taking my rage with me. I ran to a cliff side, overlooking Soul Society. When I knew that no one was arround, I lost control of my reiatsu and screamed, "GOD DAMN IT!!!!"
The temperature increased and flames devorered the green grass around it. Tongues of fire rose 30 feet into the air before spinning around like a column of flame. I was so angry, I didn't even notice Byakuya's presence.
"Agito! Control yourself!" I snarled as I turned around and faced him.
"HOW COULD THEY ASK ME KUCHIKI?! HOW DARE THEY ASK ME TO REPLACE HISANA'S MEMORY!!! HOW DARE THEY ASK ME TO TAKE ON THE ROLE OF BEING YOUR WIFE!!!" The flames rose higher, 50 feet.
"I never knew! I don't want this!"
"YOU DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING IN THE MEETING!!! YOU FUCKING SAT THERE AND DID NOTHING!!! YOU DIDN'T DENY ANYTHING BECAUSE NOW YOU'RE SOME FUCKING SAINT WHO BELIEVES IN FOLLOWING EVERY LAW THERE IS!!! WELL GUESS WHAT KUCHIKI, THAT LAW YOUR PROTECTING WANTED US TO MARRY FOR IMAGES ONLY!!! THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT LOVE OR THE FACT THAT YOUR TRUE LOVE DIED A MONTH AGO!!! HOW FUCKING DARE THEY?!?!" The flames were so hot, they were turning white. I could sense Byakuya raising his reiatsu to protect himself from my reiatsu of flames.

"Calm down and I'll explain it too you!" I let out a last burst of energy, the flames finally rising 100 feet into the air before dying out. I was still angry enough to kill a few nobles but at least some of it was gone now.
"Explain," I demand, grinding my teeth together.
"They never saw Hisana as a proper Lady of the House. The servants loved her and obeyed her like the Lady she was but that dosn't mean that the higher ups recognisd her as my wife. Even during our marriage, they had talks about who I should marry. It wasn't until Hisana's death did they start taking action."
"But why me?"
"Because you fit the profile. They noticed your character when you directed Hisana's funeral and when you helped me in your time of greif. They thought it was a perfect choice once they learned that we are childhood friends and you were also a noteable Captain. To them, you're the perfect Lady." I clentched my fists tighter, feling my nails break skin.
"Do they also know that I'm a Shinigami that's been trained to use a sword? Do they know that I've been trained by Yoruichi herself in hand-to-hand combat? Do they know that I can punch a hollows mask off or have already killed someone? How about the fact that I'm a self-respecting human being that won't be tied down to anything because it's expected of me to? And of course the most important facts about me. Do they know I'm highly impulsive, quick to anger, and hold grudges?" Byakuya simply sighed.
"Of course not. You have to remember that they're very traditional when they think about women and their roles." I scoff.
"HA! I'll never fit that role. Do you see me following after a husband? Hell fucking no. I mean, take a look around. I'm not exactly someone that'll submit to anyone." I gesture to the surrounding area, burnt to a crisp.
"That's what they believe. Are you calm enough to politely say no to them?" I slowly relaxed myself.
"I'll be ready by tomorrow, not today though. I have to sleep to calm myself down." He nodded his head in agreement.
"When did you learn bankia?" I rose an eyebrow in question. He continued, "Your reiatsu is much denser and I've never seen you use white flame before. You learned Bankia right?" I smiled, feeling proud.
"Yeah, it was a pain in theass but I learned it. Together, we walked down to Soul Society where Rue stood waiting for us.
"Agito-chan, you do know that everyone in Soul Scoiety saw and felt your feiry temper right? Expect to go to your barracks and people lining up to ask for forgiveness."
"Thanks Rue for the heads up." She looked me up and down.
"Are you alright?" I breathed a deep sigh.
"I will be in the morning but right now I wants some sleep."

The man walked, quite pleased with the fact he was able to snare the last peice of cake off his sister's table. The man didn't fear the darkness of the night like other old men should. He didn't have a reason to. He was walking the streets back home, near the Kuchiki manor. As he walked, he thought about the events today.
Well the meeting with Diabolos-san could have gone better but without a doubt, she is sure to come back an accept this once in a lifetime offer. The old man, Elder of the Kuchiki Noble House, smiled cheerfully at the thought. He had never seen Agito but today was sure a treat. Agito wasn't a classical beauty like all the other princesses, she's more of a raw, natural beauty. It's true, that her physical looks didn't fit the perfect Lady image, but she was considered rare. Her short, midnight blue hair pulled into a mohawk and golden feline eyes would never be considered beautiful but for her it worked. It just screamed in an untamed wildness that the Elder couldn't wait to witness first hand.
"Sir?" The Elder stopped and turned around, looking at the person who called him.
"Captain Aizen? What are you-" SHLUNK!!!
"Goodbye."

How to raise a Hive Queen
This story is about a newborn Hive Queen, which gets raised in an unexpected environment. The first part of the story will focus on her development and the challenges that come with it. Eventually she will start to produce her own swarm of hive creatures. The species of the Hive Queen is called the Sylv and they are a insectoid species with an hive mind. The Sylv can evolve themselves through extracting traits from other non Sylv creatures. This is limited to modify the basic set of creatures the Sylv can produce, they are not able to create completely new creatures. In this regard they are more like ants, who have workers, soldiers and queen ants. The Sylv live underground in so called hive complexes and use living structures in them to produce more of their kind. The Hive Queen is the leader of a Sylv Hive and responsible for evolving the swarm. This novel takes place in a fantasy setting and was inspired by other hive species like the Zerg from "Starcraft" made by Blizzard Entertainment, the Arachnea from "Her majesty's swarm" published on j-novel club, and the Vex from "I don't want to be the Hive Queen" by ValetheHowl. I really enjoy stories with an organic hive mind species and want to contribute myself. The focus and theme of this story will change as the Hive Queen matures and defines the goals she wants to achieve. World Wonderer
Mari was happily whisking up some butterscotch slice when our story suddenly whisks her into another world. You'd think it'd be the beginning of another classic Isekai adventure, but it soon becomes clear that things won't be so easy...Her nerdy-teenage-genius summoner has trapped her in his room, no one speaks English, and Mari's gut is NOT prepared for a whole new world of bacteria. Can Mari overcome the travel diarrhea, learn a whole new language and escape before she develops Stockholm syndrome? Most of all, can she learn to flourish in a world so different, yet so similar to her own? ****** Author note: This story is written in response to all the unrealistic, plot-armour Isekais out there. I believe that adventures are more fun when there are unexpected surprises and challenges to be had. That said, this is my virgin voyage into writing an ongoing fiction, so please take care of me @[email protected] Constructive critisms, suggestions and typos in the comments would be most appreciated! Respectfully, Mhm
