《Conquer {BLEACH}》(39)

[6 months later]
I stand at attention and watch as the rookie Shinigami assemble. 2 days ago, they graduated and now the people that I requested are all here in neat lines, standing at attention. Gin, who is standing beside me, turns and says, "Do ya want me ta scare 'em a bit?" I cast him a nasty glare before turning back to my new members.
"Welcome to the 3rd Company. You that are standing before me today can only mean one thing only. You survived this far and were able to become Shinigami. You are now soldiers for the frontline of a war that's always been and will be. Take a good look at the people around you because 10% of you will survive the first decade in pure luck. 20% of you actually have the skill to become a Shinigami worthy of the name. 15% of you were born underdogs that managed to claw your way to the top and will still drag yourself forward. 5% of you are hey just to abuse the name and privileges of a Shinigami and I will weed you out of here within 3 years. 50% of you will be dead within the next 20 years." There's a harsh murmur that went through the crowd.
"So remember these faces before you today! Find peace that you were able to make it to the place you're at now! You have acheived a dream not many can forfil but you had the strength and courage to take the first step forward! And I, as your commanding Captain, will do by best to guard you to a place higher than this! We are the Shinigami's to be proud of! Now it is time to step up our act and become legends!" There was a roar of approval before everyone began to file out, excited by my speech.
"Nice touch, senseiii~"
"Like you could do better," I challenged. He doesn't say anything cause suddenly there's a tall but young male running up to me.
"Captain Diabolos! I'm reading to be tested!" I instantly recognize the black hair and hawk eyes.
"Are you sure Hisagi-san?" He nods enthusiastically. I grin but ask, "Was Toushiro Hitsugaya able to graduate with your class?" He furrows his eyesbrows but nods his head. I close my eyes to sense his reiatsu. When I do, I start walking over to the 10th Company division. Hisagi and Gin follow after me. i never really involve myself with the other Captains. My fault really for not wanting to be pulled into their games of competion. It just doesn't really interest me in putting my Company into a competitive position when I could be whipping my Company to be the best they can be. As I walk through 10th Company District, 2 unseated officers decide to stop me.
"Halt! What business do you have here?" One tries to command me. I narrow my eyes before flaring my reiatsu, announcing my presence and authority. One of the 10th company members instantly falls to the ground. The other just quivers and looks slightly sick.
"On what authority do you have to question me? I have no qualms with the 10th Company and am not a person to raise a quarrel myself. Now if you'll excuse me men, I have some business to tend to," I say as I brush past them. I lower down my reiatsu and feel satisfaction when I sense the faint responsive flare of ice coming from Toushiro. But of course, the 10th Company Captain answers my greating first, the infamous Captain Kurosaki. The man was tall, overly buff, with a scruffy beard and short spiky black hair. His Captain haori was tied to his shoulder and he looked about ready for a fight.

"You enter my district and issue a challenge? I didn't take you to be a rash Captain, Diabolos-san."
"I'm not here to issue a challenge Captain Kurosaki. I'm here only to check up on someone and these 2 unseated officers questioned me," I explained.
"So who are you looking for?"
"Toushiro Hitsugaya. He's a rookie for your squad this year." An eyebrow raises in question. I didn't have to look any furhter because Toushiro soon runs up to me, Hyourinmaru strapped to his back and in a new Shinigami uniform.
"Captain Diabolos!" he bows in respect.
"Good evening Hitsugaya-san. I was wondering if you're still interested in being tested?" I say. i could sense the surprise rolling off Kurosaki-san's aura but ignore it. Toushiro smiles brightly.
"Yes!" I turned to Toushiro's Captain.
"You wouldn't mind?" He shook his head and we made our way to a training ground outside of the walls of Seireitei.
"Draw your swords," I order. I unsheathe Michael and give both Toushiro and Hisagi a fair warning.
"Stay on guard. Don't blink. You are only to block me. I will only swing once. If you can't hold your ground, then you're not ready for my training. It'll be a quick test. Are you ready?" They both raise their zanpakutoto defense. I slowly raise my reiatsu up, testing their control. They raise their reiatsu in response to my own. When I was ready, I attack Toushiro first.
I concentrated every once of reiatsu into my blade and do a simple downward thrust. On contact, the ground craters under Toushiro but he doesn't lose focus. Our zanpuktou sparks against each other and sizzles. Slowly, I allow Michael to heat up, the blade turning cherry red. In response, Hyourinmaru steams with the cold and lightning starts dancing around. He's able to defend against my blade. I smile before turning to Hisagi.
I launch a simple downward swing like I did to Toushiro. My blade was already heated up but I was surprised by the nature of his blade. His zanpuktou was...bloodthirsty. He was obviously struggling to control his own reiatsu and not to excite his zanpakuto but Michael just flared up with power, drawing a challenge. I leaped backwards before barking orders.
"Hisagi! Release your shikia!" He looked scared for a moment but does what I say. What I say was both beautiful and terrorfying. The chained quadruple scyths in his hands held the meaning of Shinigami; death. It looked like it was ready to sever the entire world. I attack again, releasing alot of my reiatsu to meet the challenge this battle-lusting blade called. Instantly, his blades were broken and hisagi was gasping for breath. I sheathed Michael and lowered my reiatsu.
"Hisagi, I'm sorry but I will not take you as my student. I know someone even better who can help with your zanputkou. Toushiro Hitsugaya, I am pleased to say that you are elligible to become my student. Do you accept this offer?" His face brightens and he nodded his head in confirmation.
"Training will start tomorrow at 6:00. I will not accept tardiness and I will serverly punish you if you waste my time. Hisagi, follow me. I'll intorduce you to someone who might train you." Hisagi stands up and seals his zanpuktou. I look back at Toushiro and motion for him to follow.
"Gin, go back to the 3rd Company District and make sure none of our rookies started anything. If so, then punish them accordingly. I will not tolerate any foolishness when in uniform." Gin smiles his odd smile before flashstepping away.

"Captain, is my zanpakuto that bad?" I looked at Hisagi. He was looking down at the ground, a look of fear in his eyes.
"No. The only reason why I decided not to personally train you is because your zanpakuto and my training method will not benefit you. I teach my students to fight for the right to be proud. With your zanpakuto, you'll first have to learn humility and control. One day I'll be happy to have a sparring session with you but the best way to learn is under the tutelage of Captain Tousen," I say as I walk into 9th Company Grounds.
"A-A C-C-Captain!?"
"What's the problem?" I ask. walk towards the office while Hisagi and Toushiro followed me.
"Do you really think I could train under a Captain?"
"You were able to block my blade, Hisagi. Even if I was using 5% of my usual strength, that is a promising start." I knock on his office door and waited for the signal to come in. When I do, I enter the room and try not to snarl in his face. I don't particularly like Tousen but I don't nessessarily hate him.
"Captain Tousen, I don't mean to intrude but I would like to request your tutelage for someon I believe shows promise." I pushed Hisagi forward. Hisagi bows respectfully.
"Why should I train him? Aren't you the better teacher?"
"I may be the better teacher but I believe the boy will be better receptive towards you than me. He needs a teacher who can teach him control over unneeded impulses and you and I both know how well I am at that," I say, hinting towards the fact that I almost cut him in half during one of my 'impulses'. His blind eyes narrow, taking the hint, but he doesn't rise to the bait.
"I'll take him, but hopefully I don't regret it."
"If he causes you greif, send him back to me. I'll teach him respect faster than he could scream for uncle." I turned around and headed back to my Company Grounds. when I'm about halfway to my Company, I turned around to look at Toushiro in the eye.
"I'm going to tell you my training program. Every morning from 6-9 is with me. 30 minutes mediation before we go into hand-to-hand-combat, swordsmanship, shikia training, kido training, healing kido training, before going back to meditation to close it out. I might bring in a few people to help you train and to spar with us. I expect that your keep up in your Shinigami duties and if I hear that you've been rebellious in any way, I will punish you. You will call me Diabolos-sensei from now on and I expect nothing but seriousness in training. If you dare play around, I will cut you down. Am I understood?" He saluted me.
"Yes Diabolos-sensei!" I smiled fondly before ruffling his hair.
"You're a good kid Toushiro. Respect yourself and soon, people will come to respect you." He shoved my hand away with a crossed look on his face. I chuckled.
"If you keep looking at me like that you'll never get a girlfriend," I wagged my pointer finger at his face. He blushed a deep red which I found adorable.
"Who says I even want a girlfriend?!" I know he meant that he's not looking for a girlfriend now, but teasing him is so fun.
"So a boyfriend then? Still, how are you gonna get the cute guys if you're always looking so mean?" His face turned so red, the roots of his hair turned pink.
"NO! I'm not looking to date anybody!" His anger reminded me of an angry chiwuawa. Those things will viciously attack you but they look so cute doing it.
"You little heartbreaker! I can just imagine all those girls just crying their little feelings out right now. You're so cold," I teased. The look on his face changed. It was like a flinch except even worse. It was like he curled up around himself for protection. I stopped teasing him and put a ahnd on his shoulder.
"Toushiro Hitsugaya. I don't know you that well yet but I can tell you this, If anyone were to judge you just because of your appearance then you have my permission to cut them down. Don't kill them cause I don't know if I can pull you out of that mess but injure them."
"Diabolos-sensei?" I took my hand off his shoulder and turned away from him.
"Those that mock you are weak and insecure. Don't let their actions define who you are. Your name means winter lion. I think it's time to live up to that name." I started walking away. Toushiro doesn't move until I'm about 15 feet away.
"Diabolos-sensei! Where are you going?" He runs up beside me.
"I'm going to go train myself."
"Can I go with you?" I snap my head towards Toushiro.
"No."
"Why not?" He asked. I stop and looked him straight in the eye.
"There are somethings that I will never expose you to. My bankia is one of them." His eyes widened and I looked away for a secound. Another thing I'll never expose him to is Aizen's plans. I couldn't protect Tristan, but I sure as damn will protect Toushiro. If Aizen even touches Toushiro, I will chop off every finger as slowly as possible and force him to eat it. I walked away from Toushiro, heading straight towards the cliffs.
"Go back to your Company. I expect you to be at Training Grounds 24 by 6 tomorrow morning." I flashstepped away, retreating to the cliff side where I've been training for my zanpakuto. When I arrived, I released my reiatsu control and let it be made and flow freely. The tips of every blade of grass was burning with a red flame, the white smoke rising into the air. I unsheathed Michael.
"Michael, materialize," I called out. The white smoke of the grass began to funnel into one column. When the smoke cleared, there stood Michael, called into being. It was strange not to see him surrounded by rising flames but green nature looked good around him.
"Are you ready Agito?" he says. His wings, 6 in all, made of a mixture of the puriest gold, silver, and bronze feathers. Flickers of flames yawned over the feathers before disappearing. The wings stretched out, 12 feet of pure power rippled through the air and burning the grass around him. It was awe inspiring, but I can't afford to be in awe now. The power to pronouce war against Satan himself, I have to fight against it. I have to fight to conquer the power of the apocolypse.
Am I ready to fight it? Probably not. Do I want to challenge the representation of an Archangel? Hell to the fucking no. But will I still do it? Yes. Do I plan to win? Of course. Not because I want to, but because I have to.
"What is your resolve?" he asked me. I took a stance and prepared a fight against wills.
"When I attack, I will kill. I will kill you, not because I think I can, but because I know I can," I say. Michael smiles.
"Good."

My Pixie Familiar
Pixies are real. Not only are they real, but are considered pests due to their mischievous nature and love of pranks. Some people think they are magical and making a potion or powder from their wings will transfer that magic to a person. Any good alchemist will tell you that is not true. Most will gladly take your money and make you a "magic potion" though. My name is Jase Fisher and I thought I would follow in the steps of my mother and become an alchemist since I didn't enjoy fishing, hunting, or any of the other trades offered in Beau Ferry, my village. Not only have I been looking forward to being an alchemist, I was looking forward to bonding with a familiar. My biggest fear is not bonding with one of the exciting familiars such as a dragonet. If I can just make it through the bonding process, my life is set. Oh, and not run afoul of any pixie pranks.

The Madec Legacy
The dawn of Emotion Based A.I.s is here, John is the fifth test subject to have an AI implemented in his brain, and so far the first one to survive. Blinded by the dream of immortality, the researchers push the tests to inhumane standards. John is obligated to take part in sessions of torture designed to test the limits of the AI influence over the physical and mental health. What was supposed to be a new beginning in life turns into living hell. An (un)lucky twist ends his life. John then reincarnates with his AI in a new world where a System influences the interaction between Magic and Matter. With seemingly limitless potential and a game-like system influencing the world, the hero sets on his journey. --AUTHOR NOTE, PLEASE READ-- I will state here my promises to you, potential reader: 1. No harem! I don't trust myself to make a harem feel natural or healthy, I never met any person who has a personality that can adapt and live in a harem for reasons that are not monetary, so I can't draw inspiration from real life. Sorry!; 2. The enemies will not be bland and illogically mean. Some may feel like that at first, but I will take great care in fleshing them out, trust me. You may end up hating some, but you won't be able to deny that they had their reasons for what they did; 3. I am using a paid (and expensive) automated editor tool, and I take longer to write because I take my time in editing the stuff. I am aiming to improve and I will not shy away from constructive criticism, nor take offense for no reason; 4. Characters will die and will suffer, some will get over the tragedies and improve, others will not be as resilient. 5. This novel has a lot of ground to cover, it is neither a short story, a manual on crafting, or the script of some action scene. There will be both time skips and oversimplifications of some actions for the sake of moving the story forward. Time skips will be more prominent in the first 30 chapters. I will describe crafting processes and fights with more detail if they are essential for the chapter; 6. If I took my time describing something, it's because it is important. I hate novels that waste time describing useless stuff. If you skim over something, the chances are that something in the future will not make sense. I am an adept of "Chekhov's gun" principle; 7. I already have 31k words on my auxiliary documents, I have a plan for the story, and I will not be making changes even if someone ends up noticing some foreshadowing and figures out what will happen. The story comes first. 8. I have a wife, a job that demands 9h every day and courses related to my job (lawyer) three days of the week, it's unlikely that I will be able to do mass releases at all. I will have a healthy amount of chapters to be able to post at least 1 chapter every day continually. Don't worry. 9. I will read all the comments. I will listen to all you have to say and will try my best to accommodate demands as long as they do not hamper the path I prepared. 10. There is an arc that spans the entire novel. Each volume will be an arc in itself while progressing a little bit of the main arc. Every arc will have one or more main antagonists. I think that's it! Thank you for reading it all. Have an awesome time reading my first novel!!

Shaman
*** Let's get this clear now: the MC is a trans woman. This is not a gender-bender. It's set in a fantasy world but the exploration of identity and gender is reality-based. Not a joke, not a kinky turn-on. If this is a problem for you, please just act like an adult and look elsewhere for something to read. *** Rating breakdown, since that should be public info: 2 x 5*, 1 x 4.5*, 1 x 3*, no reasons offered. A human shaman and healer returns from several years with the mysterious shyani, accompanied by her shapeshifting puma best friend. A valued friend, from her previous identity as a male student physician, has acquired an old shyani book, and extremists will not tolerate its presence in human hands. But back in human lands, the question arises: which world does she belong in? Generations ago, human explorers found a continent inhabited by an utterly alien culture of shapeshifting weyres and the shyani, humanoids who prefer dusk and dawn. A truce of sorts was eventually reached: humans claimed the rich lowlands, and the shyani and weyres retain the highlands. Along the border, practicality often rules, but on either side, old grudges linger in some hearts. As a student physician, Corin tried to take his own life, unable to bear the countless tiny wounds inflicted over twenty-one years of lying to himself in order to be, or pretend to be, socially acceptable. At the last improbable instant, intervention came, in the form of a spirit fox, who led him away from the existence he’d known in the lowlands and into the highlands. There, a puma weyre rescued him, and a shyani shaman helped him find his true self and offered a rebirth, a life with no more lies, and an important role to fill. Now a shaman and healer in her own right, Vixen who was once Corin learns that the one human who mattered to her in her previous life, then a fellow University student, has come into possession of an old shyani book, and the more fanatical shyani and weyres will stop at nothing to reclaim it and punish Jared. Even though it means going back into the lowlands and facing Jared as a woman, she can’t bear to just look the other way. This should be a short visit, just long enough to see the book into the proper hands and make sure Jared will not be killed for having it, and then she can return to the shyani community that has accepted her as their shaman. And, of course, her feline best friend Dayr insists on coming with her. But Jared is now a Lord, with considerable wealth and power, and his response to her presence isn’t one she expected. After years living with the shyani, she sees everything around her from a new perspective, and that makes it difficult to keep to the plan of making as few waves as possible. As an honoured guest in a highborn house, with only Jared aware that she has ever been anyone else, Vixen finds herself questioning where she belongs: with Dayr and the shyani, who accept her gender without question but have to make allowances for her differences, or with humans, in the culture she grew up in even though her past would mean a major scandal? *** Trigger warning: there are scenes of Vixen's previous life, which include some difficult moments and culminate in an (obviously unsuccessful) attempt at suicide before she finds her true self and a better life. Please be careful! This is the ONLY reason for the "Traumatising Content" tag.*** Complete stand-alone novel, 96K words. Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
