"I should've seen it coming." You heard Orihime crying as you started to open your eyes. "I didn't sense anything, but I was right beside them." She began coughing, tears and snot going down her face. "What's the point in training if it's no use in the end?" Her head dropped in her hands, shoulders shuttering with every breath. You reached out your hand to comfort her, but stopped to observe your forearm. "You're awake!" Orihime jumped forward, forcing you into her arms. "Are you okay?" She tried her hardest to keep her composure but failed.
"I guess, I don't feel any pain, but I was sure that..." You think of the attack and remember the strong feeling of fear and regret, knowing you couldn't have made it all up.
"What is it?" She rubbed your shoulders as she stared at you.
"Before I hit the pavement, I could've sworn my arm was severed." Her breath got caught in her throat, her movements coming to a halt.
"I'm sure it was just a bad hallu-"
"It was real." You interrupted. "Before I fell, I saw the blood. The pain, it was the reason I froze." You weren't going to believe any other version. "I remember seeing this thing from the corner of my eye, it was huge with this, this, otherworldly appearance. What was it?"
"It was nothing."
"I heard you say, you should've seen it coming Orihime!" You gripped her arms, your confusion made obvious by your expression. "Why won't you tell me? Don't I have the right, after being attacked?" She shook her head as if to block your words. "Tell me what it was, please."
"I can't." Her tears ran freely once again. She covered her face with her arm turning away. "You'll only be put in more danger."
"So you still remember?" Your head snapped towards the voice. A man dressed in green and white, stood in the doorway with his hand on his hat.
"Who are you?"
