《The Masked Noble |Noblesse various x Reader》Season 1 Ch. 1: Noblesse, The Awakening

A silvery-white coffin adorned with a golden cross lay unopened in an empty apartment in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. It was early morning on a school day now. The roads were already in full swing. Cars flew down the road, as the people tried to get to work and school on time. Students, most dressed in white, bustled quickly down the busy pedestrian street, trying to get to school on time. A female student, presumably of 19 years of age, had appeared. She stopped walking and looked up to the empty apartment. Under her black mask, she smirked and continued to watch while standing in the middle of the road.
No one seemed to notice her, or at least that was how it felt to her. In reality, cars of all colours and sizes swerved left and right, just to avoid an accident with her involved. Not that she would've minded: She'd been alive for a very long time and could use another excuse to sleep for 500 or so years, despite the fact that she'd only been awake for about 100 years. She sighed through her nose. Going through two world wars had taken much of a toll on her mind.
She'd been woken by the first too, having coughed up blood in her sleep. She reached into her blazer pocket, pulled out her phone and checked the time.
She was going to be late for school.
But school could wait for a few minutes or hours, if she'd like. Time meant nothing to her, to say the very least. She'd always had so much time on her hands, so she did not care for one fact about it. Who cares if Mr Park was the gate guard and her class teacher who'd strangle people if they did not arrive on time or use 'polite' words?
Then the coffin opened, releasing a small wave of powerful energy. The girl smirked widened as she spotted a figure stand on the balcony and change his clothes from an old-fashioned black suit, to the male version of the clothing she, herself, wore. It seems he'd attend her school after all.
She continued to walk forwards at a steady pace. Within a couple of steps however, a red-haired boy ran passed her. He wore the same uniform as she did. She sighed once again through her nose and continued walking, taking note of the presence now slightly in front of her.
It was the same figure she'd seen on the balcony just minutes earlier. He was tall, taller than her for sure, with long raven locks falling from his head. Well, long, in a male's standard, that is.
Upon reaching the other end of the street, the red-haired boy called out to the two. "Hurry up! You'll be late! Mr Park is guarding the gates today!" Then he froze. He'd not seen him before. Surely, with someone that attractive, he'd have seen him before, right? He looked around for the girl. She'd disappeared, like she always seem to do. "Aish.... That (Y/N)..."
It wasn't like he didn't try to walk to school with her. He had tried for 3 days, and failed miserably.
He'd lost her in the first 3 minutes.
Then he seemed to realise his predicament. He was going to be late for school. The girl, now identified to be (Y/N), seemed to have run to avoid being late, right?
Nope. That girl had no care for the school rules. Actually, it seems like she was the type to purposely break rules, despite being silent and almost emotionless. Despite the fact that she'd only arrived at the school a week prior to the current events, she'd already earned herself a reputation for being a rule breaker. The boy ran to the gates, only to find them locked. He sighed in frustration, as a tall bulky figure eyed him in menace.

"HAN SHINWOO." Mr Park, without a doubt, was annoyed. Moments later, Shinwoo found himself kneeling amongst several other late students. "You dare be late when I'm guarding the gate?" He was addressing all the students in front of him. He paced in front of the students. Then he stopped in front of Shinwoo.
His wooden baton hit Shinwoo on the head. "Han Shinwoo.... You're late again?" The poor boy could only scratch his face with an embarrassed smile on his face. Then he spotted his crush kneeling a few students away. Crap! Why is Yuna here?
"5 LAPS FOR BEING LATE!"
"WHAT?!" "5 Laps?!" Protests from the student could be heard. But Shinwoo did not say a word, being too infatuated by the girl. Mr Park stared at him, and soon that stare became a smirk.
"Hm.... If Shinwoo runs 7 laps, everyone else can run 3."
"What?!" Shinwoo protested, but stopped the minute he felt everyone else's gaze upon him. He sighed. "I can do 7 laps..."
"Thanks, Shinwoo!"
-------
Argh... I'm so tired... It's not like the old times. I must be aging. Why is the track so big? He continued to drag his feet around the field. The other students had already completed their 3 laps and were now standing breathless near the centre pole.
"Hey! Class is about to start. Go to class if you're done!" Mr Park yelled at them. As they were walking away, however, he heard the gate swing open. Mr Park turned around and deadpanned with shadows in his eyes. "Hey you.... Did you just come to school..?"
He was speaking to the figure next to (Y/N) before. But the student did not say a word. "Hmph. I'd never think you'd be one to come to school late. You have too much pride." Mr Park walked closer.
"Wait.. I've never seen you before...." He jumped around the raven-haired student in an attempt to identify him. But before he could say anything, Shinwoo appeared next to him.
"Hah.... Hah... I'm... Done..." He was panting breathlessly. Then he looked up. "Its.. you..."
The teacher immediately turned his head. He pointed at the mysterious student. "You know him?"
"No...? I just saw him a few moments ago..."
"So you've never seen him before?"
"Eh? You too, Mr Park?" Shinwoo seemed to have forgotten about his tiredness. "Then.... A transfer student..?"
"Huh?"
"Student's would've recognised a face like that" He pointed at the raven-haired student frantically.
"I think you are right..." Mr Park nodded his head in agreement. "Are you new here..?"
There was a pause as the raven-haired student did not reply. Then he nodded. The red-haired student and teacher looked at each other and grinned. "You should've told me.... So which school are you from?" Mr Park attempted to start a small conversation with him.
"....."
"So you're not gonna talk? You nodded earlier. Who taught you that?"
"...."
"HEY I'M TALKING TO YOU. ANSWER MY QUESTION."
"..........ASDFGHJKLKJHGFD."
"??!!" Shinwoo turned towards his teacher for explanation.
"..... He said he's... from far away...." The two began mumbling to each other in an attempt to avoid the awkward atmosphere.
"Eh.. He seems Korean, but he's got a different Vibe... He looks a little foreign too...." Shinwoo looked at Mr Park.
"Hey, are you mix-blooded or a foreigner?"
"...." The Raven haired student nodded.
"Yes indeed... Compared to you, he definitely looks different. Look at his legs! They're much longer than yours!" Shinwoo began to twitch in annoyance as the teacher pointed this out.

"Right? You saw him and knew he was a foreigner!" The two of them began to laugh, but stopped as soon as they realised the raven-haired student did not join in. They turned around to avoid the awkwardness.
"Han Shinwoo... Take him to the chairman..."
"What?!" But he didn't get the chance to retaliate as Mr Park had already run into the school building.
Shinwoo sighed. "Come on..." He gestured to the raven haired student.
-------------------------
The girl looked down and watched the two idiots talking to the new 'student' and rolled her eyes. To talk to him like that... Do they really have no respect? But what's she to talk? Her, the one who always broke rules? She sighed and turned back to her book, taking note that they were now entering the school building.
Mr Park slid the door open. "OKAY CLASS. BACK TO YOUR SEATS." There was a shuffle of chairs and tables as students clambered back into their respective tables and chairs. Then the door slid open to reveal Shinwoo, who had come back from seeing the Chairman. (Y/N) glanced at him and sighed.
"So there's a new student..." She trailed off and looked back outside the window.
"Yeah..." Shinwoo replied to her statement while moving to sit down in their respective seats. Just as Mr Park was about to say something however, (Y/N) stood up with a sudden bang.
"I'm going to the bathroom..." And she walked out of the classroom. The teacher's eyes shrouded in annoyance, but continued to speak to the class nonetheless.
The 'bathroom' was an excuse. She was going to turn up at the Chairman's office, regardless of what he thought of her. She continued down the long, twisting corridors or Ye Ran High.
----------------------------------
"Master..." Chairman Lee was now kneeling on the floor in front of the new student.
"Rise." There was a moment of silence, then-
"Master. How have you been?" The new student sat down on the couch in the chairman's office
"I just woke up."
"What...." Chairman Lee sounded surprised.
"How long was I sleeping in the coffin?"
"We're not sure when you went to sleep, but you have disappeared for 820 years. We searched for you after you disappeared but we were incompetent to find you, sir. My sincerest apologies."
"I've been asleep for so long..." There was a few moments of silence as the blonde chairman poured a cup of tea.
"This is called 'Tea'." The raven-haired student took a sip.
"Frankenstein.... Did you start a clan of your own when I was away...?" The female student standing outside of their door snickered, inaudible to those inside. But Chairman Frankenstein Lee just sighed.
"No. This place is called a 'school'. It's where children come to learn...."
"I see." He took another sip of his tea.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. (Y/N), who'd been standing outside was now getting impatient.
".... Come in...." (Y/N) opened the door and entered the room. "What is it, (Y/N)?"
"...... Nothing much.... Shinwoo told me there was a transfer student... Is this him...?" She sweatdropped at the scene in front of her. Why was the new student seated on the ivory couch drinking tea in the Chairman's office?
"Yes, indeed..." He glanced at his master.
"Would you like me to show him around the school? Well... I'm new too, but..." (Y/N) trailed off. But Chairman Lee just smiled.
"If that's alright with you... He'll be placed in your class, regardless... Wait outside for a moment. We need to get some private paperwork done..." (Y/N) nodded and left the room, shutting the door with a small click.
"..... You have interesting students...."
"Haha...."
"Why does she wear a mask...?" His master asked in interest.
"Haha.... I don't really know either..."
--------------------------
"Alright. That's all done. (Y/N)? You can take him to class now...." The Chairman called out to (Y/N), who was patiently waiting outside the door. Note the sarcasm. In actuality, she was pacing the outside corridors impatiently until he called her. She opened the door and gestured to the transfer student to follow her.
(Y/N) looked at the piled up paperwork on the table and gave a small pitying smile. "Good luck with those..." She knew exactly what it was like to complete such things. After all, she has paperwork to complete on top of homework. The chairman sighed through his nose.
"Thank you...." (Y/N) and the transfer student left the office.
-------------------------
The new student now stood in front of the classroom, where students were looking at him in awe. (Y/N) sighed. Have some respect, will you? She zoned out with earphones in her ear, listening to BTS' Butterfly and Seventeen's Pinwheel.
She already knew the name of the new student.
Mr Park, on the other hand, had his eyebrows twitching in annoyance. Watching the facial reactions of the class, he wasn't surprised to see the female population blushing, while the male population glared in annoyance. The same thing seemed to happen to his female colleagues and the female students during the entry assembly at the beginning of each year, to the chairman, of course.
"Attention everyone. As you know he will be studying with us...." The girls began to scream, waking Shinwoo up from his ramyeon fantasies.
"H-huh?"
"Everybody... be quiet." The class settled. "He was raised abroad, and this is his first time in Korea. Please help him adjust to the culture and things..... His name is..." Mr Park paused in realisation that he did not know the transfer student's name.
"....."
"........SDFGHJKLSKJHGFDFGHJKJHGFDFGHJ." The class looked towards the teacher, who was sweating nervously, for explanation. Again? Shinwoo did that too... I've never heard the language before... How the hell am I supposed to know what he said...?
"Cadis Etrama Di Raizel..."
"Huh?"
"That's how it's pronounced here..." (Y/N) looked at the class' reaction in amusement. The class was torn between thoughts of What the heck is with that long name? And Wow~ He sounds like a Noble~... You can guess who thought what....
(Y/N) sighed, as Shinwoo stood up in realisation. "Hey! You can speak Korean!"
".... Right... You do speak our language..." The teacher trailed off.
".... I'm not fluent..." (Y/N) and the class sweatdropped. Liar. Thought the class.
Well.. Consider yourself not fluent then, Rai... Go ahead.... She sighed. He could consider himself fluent. He really could. Afterall, he'd only just learnt the language today...
Then the teacher asked the impossible question. "You have a long name. Which is the first, and which is the second?"
".... All of it is the first and last name." (Y/N) nearly faceplanted on the table. .... At least tell them that 'Raizel' is your first name....
"Is that even possible? What should we call you then?"
"Call me as you like." (Y/N) deadpanned.
"Teacher!" (Y/N) furrowed her eyebrows as Shinwoo called out.
"What?"
"Hmm... It was almost too natural, so I almost missed it...."
"What?"
"He didn't address you as 'Teacher'..." The class went silent as they processed the information. I never noticed...
(Y/N) sighed, for the umpteenth time. Well that's to be expected....
Well I can't scold him... Especially since the Chairman himself asked me not to... Or at least that's what (Y/N) said...
"Teacher! He probably didn't know, since he's from another country.... I think anyone can make this mistake." The students looked at Shinwoo in admiration. (Y/N) furrowed her eyebrows, knowing exactly where this was going.
"On that thought... Perhaps a 5 second headlock would do best." The student's eyes shadowed in annoyance.
And so did the teacher's.
"Shinwoo..."
"Yes...?"
"You take it for him." (Y/N) let out a small airy snicker.
"...." Shinwoo sat down quietly.
"Hm... In Korea, we use honorifics to respect others. It is also used in various other situations. I can't tell you everything right now, but we use it to adults as well..." (Y/N) began doubling over in laughter as she knew what he was thinking. The Elders... ahahahahahahaha.... The class stared at her strangely, but she laughed even harder as the teacher looked annoyed that Raizel 'didn't understand' him.
"We'll talk about this later. Any questions can now wait: We've taken too much of the class time." Mr Park turned to Raizel. "Go sit behind Shinwoo, the red-haired student at the back..."
----------------------------
"Now... Let's begin. Everyone open your books." Then he noticed the trio at the back. "You guys... Why sit like that?" The English teacher sighed as he noticed the three tables joined together.
"..... The new student doesn't have his book, so we're sharing..."
"I see.... But why..." The tanned teacher pushed up his glasses. "Are the three of you together..?"
"Well..." Shinwoo rubbed the back of his head. "I didn't bring my book either..." He laughed awkwardly. The teacher sighed again in annoyance, as (Y/N) continued staring outside the window, while fiddling with a silver charm bracelet situated on her left wrist, not paying attention to the classwork.
She already knows how to speak English.....
--------------------
Shinwoo was confused. Why is he not writing anything down? Isn't he bored..? He hasn't moved since the class started! He stared at Raizel. In reality, He was staring at the boy sitting next to him, Ikhan, on his computer, in interest.
Shinwoo sighed. Ikhan's always on his computer too... Why is he using the mouse when it's just notetaking? .... Is he typing with his mouse...? Then Shinwoo's attention turned back to Raizel. There's something odd about the new guy... Kids came over from the class next door, but couldn't speak to him either... Damn.. He really is good looking...
But even if he is handsome... just because I'M sitting besides him... WHy do I need to stand the glares of the girls..? What did I do to you..? Everything I can bear except... He turned to look at Yuna, who was blushing at Raizel. Damn! He began to wipe his tears on the table. Mr Park began to get annoyed.
Shinwoo... I'll let you off this time, because there's a new student and it's early in the week....
(Y/N), on the other hand, glanced back every once in a while to check how Raizel was faring in the class. It turns out she needn't have worried, as he hadn't moved an inch since he arrived. She sighed, and went back to reading the Ability Manhwa* on her phone in English.
----------------------
Chairman Lee, or rather Frankenstein, stepped foot into the apartment in which his Master had woken up in. Walking up the coffin, he began to think about all the different facts he'd discovered:
The building had been built little over 4 months ago, and someone took over last month.
No one lives in the building yet.
The "someone" doesn't exist.
Everything was planned out thoroughly.
But no one would've known that Master slept in here. That goes for me too....
So how much of a coincidence was this, and how much was planned?
Frankenstein narrowed his eyes. Hm... What if.. What if one of Them was involved...?

Having found the tragic truth that an art degree is worth less than the paper it is printed on, Jacquelyn Jones is frustrated with her dead end work as a graphic designer for a marketing firm, finding new ways to try and convince people that this week's 50 cent off sale is actually worth driving to the store. She's tried other VRMMORPGs, but they've all been fantasy-based, with a couple sci-fi games thrown in. But she wants something more, something Super. Superhero VRMMOs have had a... subpar reception in the past, in part due to the fact that the nature of most MMOs makes for fairly unheroic tales. After the couple hundredth time blasting the same group of mooks from the same faction on the same street corner of the same city, using the same powerset as everyone else because you only have a few options, it is hard to think of yourself as a hero anymore. But then she heard about City of Champions Online. For the first time, a developer partnered with a tabletop RPG maker to use their system to create a VRMMORPG, and it was one of the systems designed to be used with superhero games! And despite the name, there was no getting stuck in the same city as all the other players. The game world was a detailed replica of the real world, down to having some of the same shops and restaurants in town. She could be whoever she wanted, whatever she wanted. Now, she just has to find a way to become the heroine she's always wanted to be.
