《Infected [killugon/killuaxgon]》Welcome, to the apocalypse

~Gon's POV~
I had been getting increasingly concerned since Mito called me almost a week ago, and hasn't answered recently. There were a lot more monsters and fewer people seen. Whenever I did see them, they were either running away or being eaten by one of the monsters.
My attempts to contact Mito every day were unsuccessful, she would never accept the call invites. Though, I was very determined. 'Again...' I thought as I hit the call button.
Ring...
Ring...
losing hope...
Ring...
Rin-
"G- Gon..! I... can't get to you... this is a popuated town, the things are surrounding the streets..." she said in a weak-sounding voice. "Are you okay?... you sound-" I heard multiple loud footsteps getting increasingly closer on the other end of the phone.
"Mito! I-" is all I could get out before I heard faint uncontrollable screaming... coming from Mito. "Wait- No!" I screamed into the phone. All I could hear were loud groans and whimpering.
I had started sobbing, thinking the worse. "Gon... s- survive this..." a small voice was sounded through the microphone and was the last thing I heard before the phone beeped, indicating the call has ended.
I sat there, trembling crazily with wide bloodshot eyes from sobbing. I pulled my knees to my chest and rocked back and forth, the phone in my tight grasp. 'Did Mito just... did she just... is she...' I was confused and terrified, but most of all, livid. How could I have let this happen to her?
I ran into my room, clutching my phone. I finally realized the situation, Mito... was gone.
~TIME SKIP~
After some depressing nights and rethinking everything, I decided to live up to Mito's last words and survive this for her. And by doing so, I couldn't sit around all day and cry.

since the phone call, all I could think about was how all of this was my fault, and I needed to do anything possible to repay the fact that I had killed Mito. I'll smash the monster's faces in, for her. I despised them.
I realized that this world is no longer fun and games. Monsters are running around the street right now, something that could only happen in a child's nightmares.
I would start working out, practicing my fighting tactics, throwing knives, almost whatever I could do to improve.
I stored a backpack filled with supplies, in case of emergencies, which I hoped I wouldn't have to use anytime soon.
It had the basics, a medkit, small tools, a small but sturdy flashlight, small binoculars, a few pocket knifes from my 'collection', an empty water jug, a little ax, a flame torch, a sleeping bag- what? To much? I have a big backpack.
I also grabbed my utility belt and put a few daggers in the pockets. Obviously, knives won't be enough to protect me, so I left to go downstairs which was pretty risky and went straight to the storage closet.
The streets were clear from what I could see, but I played it safe and closed the closet door behind me. I looked for the light switch and once I found it, I was greeted by a few different items.
I immediately grabbed the sturdy wooden bat that I had since I was younger, with steel nails and pointy wires. After sitting down, a hammered nails into the bat. Once nails were pointing in multiple different directions throughout the bat, I took the wire and wrapped it around, and nailed the ends of the wire to the bat for extra protection. "This should do." I slightly smiled at my work.

I should really do something about the windows downstairs, so I can safely go upstairs and downstairs without being cautious. You could easily see any movements from outside the café.
An idea came to mind as I grinned and ran upstairs, only to come back down with large tarp pieces. I grabbed a few more nails and the hammer, and I covered the windows with the tarp. The door was wooden, so I didn't need to worry about covering it.
I was proud of myself. I had put in a lot of effort on only the first day of trying.
I decided I should probably check the food supply, and stock up on water because the tap water comes from a nearby take, and of course, it is filtered before it is drawn from the tap, but I have a feeling that after a while, the tap water is going to be extremely dirty.
I started by checking the food supply. There was quite a bit, along with ingredients, and that's the plus of living/working in a restaurant. Next, I went back to the storage room and grabbed a few empty plastic jugs, and filled each one with water after storing them in the storage room once again.
I sighed as I fell on the couch. "Well, that took a lot of effort out of me," I say. I flip to the only channel available, which is the news. As a man appeared to be flipping through paper stacks, I watched curiously.
"Hello to whoever is still out there, I'm the only one left over here at the station." the man said. 'That's got to be a few hundred people gone...' I thought.
"I just wanted to say, give up. There is no hope out there. It's either your a living god and end up surviving this shit storm, or you will get eaten alive, like the rest of us.
Honestly, these things can be somewhat smart, despite their corrupted brains and stuff. They can smell blood from a distance...' The man sighed dramatically.
'i don't know why I'm doing this... I'm just talking to myself. I have gone insane. No nick, There could be people out there!.. But I'm alone.." the guy kept talking to himself while I had a sad expression on my face, feeling sympathy for the guy.
"Despite being alone, some people might be out there... though they have no chance, it's what the old you would have done... The monsters can survive up to getting their entire bottom half's cut off, which is why you need to aim for their weak spots, most of them being the same as a human.
The ones that crawl, have no bottom half, I call them crawlers. As for the regular beasts, I call them walkers. simple huh? Yeah. Fast beasts are called Sprinters, and I like to call the quiet beasts Ninjas. I'm sure there are more, I'm too lazy to figure them out these days.
But the-" he was cut off by a banging sound, as well as loud groaning, sounding like it's getting closer. Suddenly, the man's eyes became wide, and he slowly pulled out something that looked like a handgun from his lab coat pocket. Upon pointing the gun at his head, he slowly gazed at the camera for a few seconds.
"Well then... , ladies and gentlemen." Then he pulls the trigger with a vigorous shake of his hand.

Witchbone: The Goblins Winter
Themes found in these stories include friendship, found family, defying negative expectations, trying to figure out how to be a force for good in your corner of the world, doing heroic things even if you don't look or feel like a hero, and that being different isn't necessarily fatal. Summary: A spell of arctic weather. A mysterious death. The reading of a will. Strange tracks in the snow. Eleven-year-old Danny Hallow accepts his life, such as it is. His father is dead, his mother left years ago. His three Keepers are the only people aware of Danny's erratic and not-very-impressive psychic abilities. He has no friends, he's been suspended from school, and he's responsible for the life of a small brown bat that's ended up in his care. When Danny's estranged Uncle Enoch dies under mysterious circumstances, he and his Keepers are called to the town of Eddystone, New Hampshire for the reading of the man's will. Traveling four hundred miles from his dreaded hometown to attend, Danny is happy to get away, possibly inherit something interesting- and maybe find out more about his family while he's there. Arriving at the crumbling family estate of Gnomewood Home, he finds it to be hauntingly familiar, a bit creepy, oddly comforting, and possibly alive. When his uncle's will reveals that he's inherited Gnomewood and everything in it, he's determined to stay and make a happier life for himself in Eddystone, somehow. But at Gnomewood, he finds more questions than answers to his family's secrets. Disturbing old memories come to him in dreams. His psychic abilities begin to grow stronger, and as a result he becomes aware that a horde of cryptic creatures are plaguing the town of Eddystone, seemingly drawn out by the spell of an unusually frigid February. Toothy little goblins that are sneaky, vicious, and hungry. Goblins that take a particular interest in Danny. Will the emergence of the alien, and potentially dangerous, power he's inherited from his peculiar family tree help Danny survive the goblin infested winter, inadvisable attempts to befriend a terrifying boy with silver eyes, and a new school? Only if he learns to control them before they put him and everyone around him in danger. Before they convince some people that he should never have been allowed to exist at all. Before he becomes just another twisted tale in his family's bizarre history, kept hidden for centuries within the ivy-covered walls of Gnomewood Home.

The term "time machine", coined by Wells, is now almost universally used to refer to such a vehicle. The Time Machine has been adapted into three feature films of the same name, as well as two television versions, and a large number of comic book adaptations.
