《The Pain Called Love (Kaoru x Reader)》7: Who are you?

>>Y/n's POV
Two weeks. Two whole weeks since it seemed that most of this school has turned against me. Word went around about Cherise's outburst, and soon many people began to turn a cold shoulder to me.
Not only that, but my customer count had decreased, as Cherise's increased. My clients, and even some of the girls would request her from pity of thinking I threatened her out of her engagement.
It seemed the rest of the host club was by my side, at least. I could tell Kyoya was growing impatient with me being more of a waste of space than a host. So, he devised a club meeting after school today.
So, here I sat at this round table with all of the other host members. Kaoru, Hikaru, Haruhi and I sat on one side as Kyoya, Cherise And Tamaki sat on the other. Kaoru could feel me tense up in the silence, so he placed his hand on top of mine on my lap, squeezing it to give me reassurance.
"We have an urgent matter to discuss." Kyoya addresses, eyeing me and Cherise.
"I've noticed that all of Y/n's customers have migrated to Cherise. Each club day her count continues to shrink. This is a problem because money goes into costumes and supplies for Y/n, but if she isn't hosting then it is just a waist. I also can't profit pictures and magazines because people refuse to buy them with Y/n in it." He sighed, pushing up his glasses and looking at something on his laptop.
"What do you suggest, then?" Tamaki asked, his arms crossed as he stared at the ravenette.
Kyoya took a deep breath, his eyes meeting mine once more.
"Maybe Y/n should take a temporary leave from the club. Until things get settled."
Oh.
"Just say it, Kyoya." I stood from my seat, daring the tears to slip from my eyes. I refused to cry this time. Not anymore. I refused.
"I'm a liability. At this moment, I'm just a burden to the club."
"That's not what I am saying, Y/n."
"No, it's fine. Everyone else hates me, you guys are only adding onto an already long enough list. Who needs friends when everyone's your enemy."
"Y/n!" Tamaki stood, glaring. I turned from the table, but felt Kaoru hold tighter onto my hand.
"Save it, Tamaki. It was inevitable." I pulled my hand from Kaoru's grip, and left the room. No tears. I wasn't going to cry anymore.
>>Kaoru's POV
I watched as she slipped out of the club room. I expected her to cry, or defend herself, but she just seemed to accept it.

"You guys are all despicable. I can't believe you'd just throw her out like that!" I yelled, slamming a fist onto the table. I felt Hikaru's gaze soften, as he clenched his own fists into his lap.
"I'm sorry, Kaoru, but weren't you the first one to throw that word towards her? I'm just keeping the good of the club in my best interest." Kyoya scoffed, crossing his arms.
"So that means make her feel more hated than she already is?!"
"I don't understand, you all witnessed her kill that Kairi girl, why do you still interact with her?" Cherise suddenly butted in, causing me to glare at her.
"Excuse me?" I snapped. I could feel my fingernails digging into the palms of my hands. Hikaru grabbed my shoulder, standing beside me.
"Yes, we were there, Cherise. But whatever newspaper or person or whatever failed to leave out the horrible week Y/n had before the incident. Did you know that my idiot of a brother had kissed her, then ignored her for a whole month?! Did you know that every time she tried to reach out to him, she grew more and more upset and distraught. Did you know that after Kairi died, Y/n spent the next few months in absolute hell? Don't turn a heroic act into a murder. So either dig your head out of your-"
"Hikaru!" Tamaki yelled, causing him to scoff. I watched as Cherise looked down to the table, running her fingers through her hair. "What have I done?"
"You're lucky Y/n's a forgiving person." I mumbled, crossing my arms. "Though, kicking her out of the host club is pretty low, Kyoya."
"I'm doing what's best for the club. Now quit whining." He closed his laptop, and left the room. I took a deep breath, and looked to Hikaru.
"Will you guys go with me to apologize to Y/n?" Cherise suddenly spoke up, making my brother and I both look to her.
"I messed up. I should have known those girls would feed lines to me to make me hate her. I shouldn't have believed them."
Sighing, we both nodded. "Yeah. Let's go."
"Thank you." She got up, and we all made our way out the door. We made idle chatter as we walked down the stairs, but we all stopped when we saw Kyoya at the foot of the second wing, frantically on the phone.
"I need an ambulance here NOW at Ouran academy. My friend was pushed down a flight of stairs and isn't moving."

His friend? But-
"Oh my- Y/N!" Hikaru screamed, rushing down the stairs. My heart thumped against my chest, as I watched Cherise follow behind him. They were both screaming, yelling incoherent words. I watched as regret flashed through Kyoya's eyes.
That's when my feet worked before my brain told them to, and began running down the stairs. At the bottom, laid Y/n sprawled out. Her yellow dress slightly torn and hair messed up from the fall. Her face screamed that she was in pain, and her arm that was broken not but half a year ago looked pretty bad.
"Y/n?" I breathed out, my shaky hands taking hers. "Y-you're gonna be okay. The paramedics are on their way. You're gonna be okay."
She's gonna be okay. I wanted to believe it. I forced myself to believe it.
She's gonna be okay.
>>Y/n's POV
Beep
Beep
Beep
Beep.
Jeez, that noise is annoying. Where am I? Why do I feel like I can't breath?
Huff
Well, I can breath. It's weird, though. Everything seems so...fuzzy.
Oh, maybe I should open my eyes? Yeah. That would make some sense.
Slowly, I took in the very bright light of wherever I was. Okay, so that horrendous noise was coming from this machine beside me. Hm. I'm laying in some kind of bed, it's a..hospital bed? Am I in the hospital?
"Oh! Good, you're awake Miss L/n." I looked over to see a doctor who was writing down something after looking at the machines.
"I'm going to ask you some questions, okay?"
"Okay."
"Alright, What is your name?"
"Y/n L/n."
"Age?"
"Uh fifteen..." hm, I'm honestly not sure? I FEEL like I'm fifteen. Right?
"Okay. School?"
"Ouran Academy."
"Grade?"
"First year."
"Interesting. Do you happen to know what month it is?"
"August, right?" He sighed, and shook his head, crossing his arms. "Not good. Okay, what is the last thing you remember? Do you know why you're here?"
"I...remember just starting school...and coming home to my mothers house..." I..why can't I remember?
"Okay. I'm gonna step out for a bet, some of your friends would like to see you."
Friends? Does he mean Kairi? I haven't spoken to her in years.
When he opened the door, and left, I grew even more confused when I watched a group of males I've never interacted with before walk in. I knew who they were, that was obvious, but why did they come to see me?
"Y/n, how are you feeling?" The black haired one, Kyoya Ootori asked.
"Uh..I have a really bad headache."
"I'm glad that nothings broken. I was so worried."
My heart quickened. I watched as none other than Kaoru Hitachiin walk up, and take my hand into his. I could feel the heat rise to my cheeks as he smiled to me.
"I-I'm sorry but why are you all here? We've never talked before."
Their faces turned to confusion, as Kaoru dropped my hand. His breath quickened slightly. "W-What do you mean we've never talked?" Tamaki Suoh asked, running a hand through his messy blonde hair.
"I mean, other than the twins, I've never spoken to any of you. And the twins have never acknowledged my existence before today."
"This isn't funny, Y/n."
"Hey! I'm back, and I brought snacks- oh! She's awake!" A beautiful girl with ebony skin walked in, an arm full of snacks. Her hair was a gorgeous purple.
"How are you feeling, Y/n?"
"W-Who are you? Why are you all so interested in me?! Why am I even in the hospital?!" I was panicking. What was going on? My old crush was at my side, acting as if we were close. THE Kyoya and Tamaki were here, and I don't even know this other girl!
"Everyone." The doctor stepped in, clearing his throat. "When she fell, she managed to hit a spot on her head and cause a bit of amnesia. She thinks it is about a year ago, today."
"I...do..?" I looked down at my hands, my breathing hitching.
"So...she really doesn't remember. Oh no, her dad." Hikaru gasped, looking at me.
"What about my father?!"
"Yeah, What about me?" I watched as the one man I never wanted to see again stepped into the room. I felt the skin on my arms crawl, as I backed into the bed.
"What is he doing here?!" I huffed. Tears welled in my eyes, confusion circling through my body.
"What is going on?"
"I think everybody should step out. Too much pressure could make things worse. I was hoping maybe seeing her friends would jog something, but this is more serious than we thought. Let's give her some room." The doctor said, leading everyone out.
Kaoru was the last to exit, as he looked at me. His amber eyes met mine, a single tear falling down his cheek. With one last hopeful smile towards me, he left.
I don't understand.
Who are they to me?

Dungeon's Path
The only places I have posted the story and allow it to exist are on RoyalRoad, Scribblehub, and my Patreon. So the world ended. Whoopsie? We didn’t even see it coming. Quite literally as it came at us faster than the speed of light. Don’t worry though, it got better. Also, I am not joking about the world ending. Most people say that and mean humans are inconvenienced for some reason. Nope, all matter disintegrated at the atomic scale there for a few moments. Apparently the local universe wasn’t actually stable? Don’t ask me to go into too much detail. It would require both of us to have a few more college degrees than sense, and I at least lack them (both the degrees and the sense). Anyway, the energy/matter/wibbly wobbly strings were at a local minimum and not the universal minimum. Basically, what we took for sea level was actually a nice little mountain lake and when the dam busted so did, well, everything. Now here is where things go a bit off track with what normal meant before. You see magic is real, qi is real, gods are real. Not on old Earth mind you but souls pay little attention to time and space so we dreamed of it. In fact, the closer the shift in reality got to Earth, the closer our dreams got to the new reality. This is basically me tip toeing around the fact that it was a ‘System Apocalypse’. Reality became a video game, I became a dungeon, and this is my story. Doyle Huxley just wanted a normal life but as the above might clue you in on that just isn’t in the cards. He gets to experience a “Path Based System Apocalypse” and some early paths he takes, both literally and figuratively, lead to him becoming a dungeon. The aim is to release chapters once a week on Friday. Cursing will be avoided and no naughty adult action will take place in the story.

Magriculture
When Aurum Industries announced the first Full Immersion Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (FIVRMMORPG if you're hip) Limitless Online, most people saw it as an opportunity to live out their sword and sorcery fantasies. John, however, saw it as the opening of a new and as of yet uncrowded job market. One he was willing, and eager, to exploit. Determined to make money through virtual hard work and effort, John sets his sights not on the heights of magic or the perfection of the sword, but instead upon the tilling of the soil and the sowing of seeds as he explores the wide and wonderful world of magical agriculture all from the comfort of his own bed. Disclaimer: This is, at best, a very rough draft. I have already had to do one major rewrite and several minor rewrites of entire sections of the story, and it is a virtual certainty I will have to do re-writes again. Such changes may be as small as editing a few numbers (such as going back and changing how much mana an object holds) or it may force me to re-write entire chapters (this has happened once already, and I'm really hoping it doesn't happen again, but... life). Minor re-writes will probably never be posted here. Major rewrites probably will.Anyway, what this boils down to is: If you're looking for a fully cohesive story with few to no errors and publisher level editing, this is not the story for you. If your looking for a cohesive plot that's more than "Man farms, man farms, man farms well, man maybe makes money" you're probably also in the wrong place, but I will attempt to entertain you anyway.

Legends of The Wesh: Lochley
The Universe is held together by something. It is an undisputable truth but nobody knows what that something is. People claim that it is connected by The Path of Legends, where Gods traversed trying to find the meaning of their own existence. Others claim that the universe is a Tree, connecting worlds with its extending branches and giving life-bearing fruits to its inhabitants. Several even claimed that the Universe is just a colony of ants, that this universe and the worlds in it are just as insignificant as insects. In one of the Worlds in it, the arrival of someone signaled great changes. Gods will die, Trees will Rot, Insects will burn. Those at the top had fallen and they will upend the worlds trying to claim what was theirs. Those at the bottom have had enough of scraps and they yearned to devour the fruits of the worlds. Those that were innocent and caught in between had no choice but to persist, lest they get erased by the surging tides. Nobody knows where will they end, but everybody knew where they started. They will not be judged, they will not be rebuked, they will not be curbed, they will not be vanquished. The universe is their canvas and it’s time — time to paint their truths upon it. Azrael was born as a prince in the warring world of Ost. Inheriting the title but not its privileges and oppressed by his siblings in every step of his life, he had no choice but to be subservient to their whims until circumstances spiraled him to the abyss, to a new world, and to more agreeable companions. But is he truly free from the past or will it continue to hound him to his new life? Elira had one wish… to be known more than as an offspring of the Great Phasol Family. Talented, hardworking, and stubborn, she struggled to break free from the influence of her family. Everything had been going well in her life but is she strong enough to resist the upheaval and truths of the world? William grew up in an orphanage with nothing to his name. Regaled by various tales of fantasy and greatness by his caretakers, he reached adulthood with the goal of having a legend of his own. Will he make his mark on the world or be forgotten like an ant; crushed by the boot of an unsuspecting traveler. The world of Lochley has been at peace for centuries and its undercurrents are growing restless from waiting… waiting for that spark of opportunity to ignite and swallow the world whole. Some will cause it, some will resist it, and some be drowned by it. Which one will you be?
