《The Pain Called Love (Kaoru x Reader)》2: Back To School

"I don't want to go back to that place." I whined to my boyfriend, who was currently sitting on my bed with me, my head in his lap. He only let out a slight chuckle to my whining, running his fingers through my soft hair. He began playing with the ends of it, humming softly to reply to me.
"I know, but at least there's only two more years left."
"Yay~" I sighed, looking up into his amber eyes. They were now fixated to my (e/c) eyes, taking in as much detail as he could. "You're eyes are so pretty." He said, leaning down, and planting a soft kiss onto my forehead. I gave a soft pout, and he rolled his eyes. "Don't pout." He grinned, leaning down once more to meet my lips with his own.
I couldn't tell you how happy I was. Kaoru had been the perfect boyfriend these last six months. On our vacation in Hawaii, he was such a gentleman. I miss being there, but at least we can continue our lives here, now.
"I'm gonna head home, okay? Hikaru and I still gotta make sure we are set for school tomorrow."
I groaned, sitting up. We both stood, and he wrapped his arms around my waist, placing soft gentle kisses along my face. "Love you." He grinned, making my cheeks heat up.
"Love you too." I smiled, leaning into him, giving him a soft kiss.
The short kiss became deeper, as he cupped one of my cheeks, and his other arm pulled me closer. My arms snaked around his waist, one of my hands reaching up and playing with his soft red hair.
We didn't want to pull apart, but sadly he backed up. "I must go. As much as I'd rather stay here with you, my brother needs me."
"It's okay, I'll see you tomorrow."
"Of course." With one final kiss, he left. Leaving me in my room, blushing and happy.
~~
"Come on, (B/n), we're gonna be late for school!" I called to my little brother, who came rushing down the stairs. Today was his first day in middle school, and he looked so handsome in his new uniform.
"You're gonna be a lady killer, bud." I smiled to him, causing his cheeks to dust red. "N-Nuh uh!" He pouted, rushing out to the limo. I only laughed, quickly straightening out my yellow dress, and followed him to the limo.
"You nervous for middle school?" I asked my brother, who slowly nodded. "It's not gonna be like elementary school."
"No, but you're in the top of your class, and so far the teachers you met seemed to really like you. No need to worry. If you need anything, just text me, okay?"
"Okay!" He was now grinning, looking out the window as his school came into view. The limo came to a stop, and he quickly hugged me. "See you later, sis!" He called out, and left. I giggled at his behavior, watching out the window as the limo pulled out of the school.
~~
"Miss (L/n), we are here." Hunter said, helping me out of the limo. I said thanks, and made my way inside. "G-Good morning, (Y/n)!" Some boys called out, circling me. Some had bouquets of flowers, while others held boxes of candies.
"G-Good morning, guys. You all didn't have to get this..."
"We did!" One said.
"For our favorite hostess!" Another yelled. This made the boys go into an uproar, but they soon stopped. I raised my brow in confusion, but then noticed a certain raven haired boy pushing through the crowd. "Please stop crowding Miss (L/n), she needs to get to class. You may all see her in the host club today."

They all awe'd, dispersing away. I took a deep breath, and looked up to Kyoya. "Thanks. I almost couldn't breath."
"You know, it's actually shocking how much the boys are more territorial than the girls are over the hosts. We would have problems, yes, but not like this."
"It's hard to be this pretty." I teased, causing the man to roll his eyes, and walk away. "Follow me." He sighed.
I rolled my eyes as well, following him. "Now, we are doing something different for the host club today. I need you to do something for us."
"Oh?" I asked, curious. He nodded, looking around, then pulling me into an empty classroom. He locked the door behind him, and I instantly felt a lump in my throat. "U-Uh Kyoya?"
"Calm down. I don't need anyone else hearing. Especially your boyfriend." This caused me to raise my brow.
"I will keep Kaoru distracted, but I need you to scout out the freshman class. We are gonna host auditions for a new host, or hosts. But, where as they will fake it as much as they can in front of us, we need someone who won't freak out at the sight of you."
"Okay..."
"You will also need to be at the auditions after school. We are going to use you as the lady they will host."
"Okay." I sighed, and walked out of the room followed by Kyoya. He waved goodbye, and made his way to the 3rd year classes.
"(Y/n)?" I turned, coming face to face with Hikaru and Kaoru. Hikaru wore a nervous expression, while Kaoru looked somewhat irritated.
"Why were you in there with Kyoya?"
"Host club business."
"Uh huh." He huffed, crossing his arms. I could feel irritation rise up as he kept staring at me, accusations racing through his mind,
"What are you implying?"
"I'm just saying, it's strange how you two were locked in there alone."
"He asked a favor of me, Kaoru. You think something really went on?" My face grew sad, looking down to the ground. I could feel him shift uneasily, then sigh.
"I'm sorry, I just...I don't want to lose you."
"You need to trust me more, Kaoru." I shook my head, and walked away. I didn't have the time to deal with his jealousy. I heard him call for me, but I just ignored it.
"Hey, (Y/n)." I turned, seeing Haruhi now beside me. "Hey, Haruhi."
"You okay? You seem stressed."
"Kaoru's being an ass." I sighed, running my fingers through my (h/c) hair. Haruhi snickered slightly, shaking her head.
"You can't blame him, you already now how little people are actually included in their world. He's just scared you'll leave."
I sighed, instantly feeling somewhat guilty. But still, he shouldn't have just accused me.
"Let's get to class before we're late. Maybe you guys can talk later."
I nodded, and followed her to our new classroom. 2-A. We filed in with all the other students, and took some seats at the back of the classroom. Soon enough, the twins came in. Hikaru sitting behind Haruhi, Kaoru sitting behind me. I glanced back at him, and he mouthed to me, 'I'm sorry.'
I smiled, and shook my head. "It's fine. Just, trust me more, please?"
"I will, I'm sorry." He sighed. I once again shook my head, smiling "It's okay. We will talk more later, okay?"

"Sounds good." He finally smiled, and I turned back forward, watching the teacher enter the classroom.
"Alright class, welcome back."
~~
School was finally over, and we were all gathered in the host club. A few tables were pushed together, clothed and had tea sets ready. Another table sat alone in front, two chairs set up along with a tea set.
"Alright everybody, places." Kyoya clapped his hands. I went to go sit at the table, but Tamaki quickly stopped me. "(Y/n), you have a wardrobe change. I'll show you your outfit." I glanced past him, seeing Kaoru eye me suspiciously. I shrugged my shoulders, as Tamaki dragged me away.
"You are gonna be the lady that the boy will host. But, you need to look your best. He cannot lose his cool." I nodded, waiting for when Tamaki left. I entered the dressing room, and noticed a beautiful (f/c) dress. It had spaghetti straps, with a tight fitting bust. About midway down the torso, the dress became more frilly, and flared out slightly to add a cute charm. I quickly slipped it on, glancing in the mirror. It looked even more fabulous on me.
I quickly noticed some jewelry, a simple silver necklace and diamond earrings. I placed them on, along with some white gloves, and flats to match. I quickly noticed my boring hair compared to this amazing outfit, so I grabbed a brush, and curler.
~~Kaoru's POV~~
I sighed in boredom, as Tamaki walked back from the dressing room. I raised my brow curiously, wondering where (Y/n) was.
"Alright men, and Haruhi." She let out a soft scoff, crossing her arms. We all took a seat at the 'judges table', and Tamaki stood in front of us. "We know what makes up a good host. We know that NOBODY will even replace Honey and Mori. But, we need more men. So, we will judge on style, poise, mannerism, and how he treats a lady. After the basic interview, we will have him sit at this table," he patted the single table in front of us, "(Y/n) will pose as the lady he will host."
"WHAT?!" I blurted out, but then sat down quickly. I cleared my throat, and looked up. "I mean, why (Y/n)?" I asked more calmly. I could see the irritation in Tamaki's eyes.
"Because, not any girl will do. Plus, she will be able to judge herself if they are worthy of being host club material." I rolled my eyes, leaning back in my chair. "Whatever."
"Calm down, Kaoru. It's gonna be fine." Hikaru whispered to me. I hummed in response, as Tamaki called the first person to come in. You could tell he was nervous, and jittery.
"Do we even need to judge?" I scoffed. Tamaki shot me a glare. "Kaoru! You can leave if that's going to be your attitude the whole time!" He shouted. The guy in front of us grew more nervous, clearing his throat. "U-Uh. M-My name is..."
His audition was horrible. I already knew his hosting would be worse.
"Alright, (Y/n)! You can come out!" Tamaki shouted. My attention was brought up as the door to the dressing room creaked open.
"Oh my..." I heard Hikaru breath out. I couldn't even speak. (Y/n) walked out, looking more beautiful than ever. She wore a (f/c) dress, that complimented her perfect body. Her hair had light curls, that framed her amazing face. She looked stunning, elegant.
I glanced over at the guy we were judging. His face had grown pale, and his jittering more than before. I couldn't help but glare.
"Now, Mr...." Tamaki began. "Host our lovely hostess, (Y/n)." She slowly bowed to him, and he scurried to pull her chair out for her. She went to sit, and he accidentally shoved the chair to hard, causing her to hit the table.
"Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry!" He went to pour her tea, but then spilled it all over the table.
"Alright, please leave." Kyoya said, pinching the bridge of his nose. I sighed in relief, as the guy frowned. "I'm sorry, goodbye." He bowed, but before leaving, he pulled a card out of his pocket. He turned to (Y/n), and suddenly had some courage.
"Miss, you should give me a call sometime, maybe we could go on a dat-"
"We said leave." I stood up, now standing beside the guy. (Y/n) stared at me in shock, as I made the guy leave. "Kaoru, what the hell?"
"What, so it's okay that he can just so openly flirt with you?"
"No, but I could have handled it!" She shouted. I felt my face heat up, as her fists clenched.
"Obviously not! You were enjoying it! Trying way too hard to impress these recruits, huh?!" I gestured to her outfit, causing her to scoff.
"Kaoru, seriously?! Tamaki made me do this!"
"You didn't have to say yes!" I growled. Her glare grew harsher, as she scoffed.
"Maybe you should pull your head out of your as-!"
"Guys!" Hikaru ran up to us.
"No, leave it, Hikaru. He needs to get over his stupid jealousy issue. If I even breath around another guy, I'm being accused."
"Well maybe you should give me a reason to trust you and I wouldn't!"
I heard the others gasp, and I noticed her grow madder.
"Kaoru Hitachiin. What freaking reason do you have NOT to trust me?! I've been nothing but loyal! If you don't want to be with me, then just freaking say so! Because I don't want to be with someone who doesn't trust me!"
""
~(Y/n)'s POV~
"Well maybe I don't want to be with a murderer!"
My eyes widened, all of the anger leaving my body. I could feel my throat close up, and ears ringing. My vision was going blurry, as tears instantly spilled from my eyes. I saw Kaoru's face change and he was rambling.
"W-Wait no, I didn't mean that!" He shouted, grabbing my shoulders. I shook my head, rearing my hand back, and slapping him.
I hadn't noticed the rest of the Host Club was now around us. Hikaru grabbed my wrists, trying to calm me down. Kaoru held his hand to his cheek, huffing slightly.
"HOW DARE YOU!?" I screamed, trying to pull away from Hikaru.
"I-I'm so-"
"YOU DON'T GET TO BE SORRY!" I screamed once more, choking back a sob.
"She was my best friend! You think I don't already hate myself?! You think I don't sit up late every night, blaming myself for her death?!" I hiccuped, watching them all stare at me with pity.
I mumbled something under my breath, breathing heavily. Kaoru looked at me, confused. "W-What did you say?"
"I SAID I HATE YOU, KAORU HITACHIIN!" I pulled myself away from Hikaru, and ran out of the host club crying. I haven't felt this kind of pain since that day, and he managed to bring it all back to me.
How could he do this to me?

Blue Hills
Nothing had ever felt quite right for Alexander Adamson. He'd worked his way up to a job he could tolerate, a few casual friends, and even a nice little apartment that he could call his own, though it really wasn't. The problem was that none of it was satisfying. It was as though he were going through the motions of a life, rather than having one of his own. Of course, it didn't exactly feel right when he woke up in a strange bed in the middle of nowhere. Nor when he was told that he was now the proud owner and operator of a local farm. A farm that had belonged to a late uncle he'd never known. But with the first train out of town a full 'season' away, he had plenty of time to get used to the idea. Plenty of time, perhaps, to even get to like the strange little town of Blue Hills. I have a discord now. Marvel at my ability to somehow still be antisocial on the other side of a screen! Back from hiatus along with my other fiction. Chapters are on a Thurs/Sun schedule until book 3 of that fiction is completed, at which point I'll be updating this daily. At which point uh.... I dunno what I'm going to do.
8 229Boosted Restart – A new chance in a different world (GL)
Sophia wasn't happy with her life. Due to some wrong decisions, she'd become really shy and introverted, to the point it hinders her from having basic interactions or even conversations. Not being able to talk with women at all, the only gender she's interested in, caused her to feel really lonely. The girl wanted to change, but she got too stuck in her ways. After all this time, Sophia had become unable to do so without help. One day, while she was busy complaining about her situation, she accidentally missed a red traffic light. This accident led to the end of the life she hated so much. However, she was saved from certain death by a mysterious being. He called himself an overseer of the worlds and gave her a second chance in a different world where even magic exists. He also granted her some boosts to make her life easier. Hoping to finally change herself, Sophia asked him to make her more outgoing, sociable, confident, and the likes. The overseer didn't just stop there. He boosted every single attribute of the girl. Every emotion and personality trait got altered, be it a positive or negative feeling. Her physical stats were no exception. This caused her to have the most literal identity crisis because she felt like someone else entirely. To make things worse, those emotional boosts aren't the most reliable ones, overcompensating or even failing from time to time. Trying to deal with these conflicting emotions, Sophia works hard to come to terms with the new her while doing her best in the new world. Exploring places, learning magic, finally finding friends again, and possibly more. Unfortunately, she learns this world's magic from a highly overpowered, easygoing, and somewhat unreliable teacher. This not only destroys the last bit of her common sense, but Sophia's application of magic also becomes rather sloppy, causing one weird incident after another. Not to mention that some of the inhabitants of her new home are a little different from what she imagined. An easy life still seemed impossible for Sophia, but for all the different reasons. ----------------------Info: Tags used elsewhere (Because RR really could use some more of them...): Genre Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Girls Love, Isekai, Romance, Slice of Life Tags Age Regression, Alternate World, Animal Characteristics, Appearance Changes, Appearance Different from Actual Age, Beast Companions, Beastkin, Carefree Protagonist, Demi-Humans, Dense Protagonist, Easy Going Life, Fantasy World, Female Protagonist, Identity Crisis, Lack of Common Sense, Magic, Misunderstandings, Modern Knowledge, Overpowered Protagonist, Personality Changes, Second Chance, Transmigration, Transported into Another World, World Travel
8 469Cybernetic Dragon
Idea Seven, or Inter Dimensional Explorer Automaton Unit-7, has had a bit of an accident. Hijacking the egg of a dragon rather than its intended target of a bird egg, it isn't fully in control of its host brain. Rather the two, dragon and cybernetic AI interface, must work together to survive in a hostile world of magic, dungeons, beasts and adventurers. The AI must deal with being a machine from a world of science trying to carry out its mission of exploration, while the dragon, Rex, must deal with being a cyborg living with symbiotic nanotech that sets him apart from other dragons. What adventures await them? Author Note: I tagged this story GameLit because it contains concepts like levels, classes, and dungeon/beast cores. But, it isn't tagged LitRPG because no one has status screens, other than occasionally Idea Seven who likes to organize data into blue boxes. It isn't a natural function of the world to display level ups or skill ups with an announcer voice. I mention this to set expectations, because otherwise I feel like LitRPG fans might be disappointed by my lack of LitRPG elements while others might be turned off thinking I have a lot of LitRPG elements. I think that if you approach the story with an open mind you will appreciate the gradual way in which the main character learns and expands his understanding of how the world works, but the game mechanics aren't meant to take center stage to the actual story.
8 402The Core And The Wardens of Eternity
What is the Core, they asked me... It's the light that pushes the darkness away, a bastion of justice, a safe keeper of life. It grooms love and tolerance, embraces science, fights ignorance, sentences it to die a slow and tragic death. The Core... it's something that can't be destroyed for destroying it is to terminate the time and space itself. When the stuck-in-a-dark-age world of Zanria goes offline, the Core sends one of its experienced agents to find out what is going on and to try to reestablish a mysteriously severed connection. However, all his training and experience might come way short as the world sinks in war and chaos with different races and clans fighting for the Star of Bardan, the ward rumored to possess enough supernatural power to create and destroy entire worlds. *** I just changed the name of the series, from 'the Nexus' to 'the Core'. Somehow it just sounds more right to me. This is the first story, and it has a medieval fantasy setting. But, eventually, this is going to turn into Isekai series with elements of LitRPG. So, my future books might include worlds with advanced technologies that might be more in SciFi, including Steampunk, genre. The first book might start slow, but after a few chapters, it should all be properly set up, and by then you should get the feel of how it will all flow. Also, I plan to introduce different story threats that should spread out and criss-cross in the future. Hopefully, I will not complicate it too much, and that it will all read good. I am planning to continue to add chapters to the main storyline here, but I'm also starting a new story threat in the Core series called The Recordings of Raan. There is also a side story The Memoires of Eisen that's exclusive on Patreon for those who would like to support me.
