"Wow," Hikaru said as he looked at Haruhi.
Haruhi had been changed into a hospital gown that was pretty revealing- with a bunch of holes in it where needles and tubes were connected. She was hooked up to what looked like 800 machines, some drawing blood and some pumping liquid. She looked like some kind of robot.
"Yeah, I know," Kaoru chimed in.
Suddenly, the doctor guy (who the twins call 'Doc') turned back to Hikaru and Kaoru with a look of relief on his face and said, "We're here, guys. Now you stay here and wait until you can come in and visit. I know that you'll want to see your sister as soon as she-"
"She's not our sister," The twins inturrupted sharply.
"Girlfreind...?" He directed at each one, waiting for a nod from one of them.
They both shook their heads feircely, eyes wide with sudden disgust.
"GirlfreindS?!" Doc yelped.
"HELL NO! Did you listen to the story at all?! We barely know her!" The twins yelled.
Doc rolled his eyes and looked at Haruhi.
"Yeah. But... I can't help but wonder... Who looks after her? And where is their contact information?" He said.
Kaoru crinkled his eyebrows together and looked at the floor.
Hikaru just kept his eyes on Haruhi.
"Well, I need to get her inside. I'll call you in when she can accept visitors," Doc pulled Haruhi's cot out of the ambulance and shoved it through the hospital doors, yelling at some other doctors to come help.
"We... we don't want to visit, right?" Kaoru asked.
Hikaru just looked at his hands.
"We don't want to, but she'll want to see her saviors." He said.
Kaoru snickered softly.
"Saviors?" He repeated. Hikaru just nodded.

They sat there in silence and thought for what seemed like hours.
Hikaru only stared at his hands, wondering about Haruhi's condition and studdying his palms. Kaoru looked at the ambulance clock hanging from the door. It was shaped like a cow, and he was sure he could recreate it from memory- thats how long he stared at it.
They were inturrupted by Doc, banging on the door.
"She wants to see you," he mumbled, out of breath, "she told me you were her friends."
They looked at eachother for a while before bursting into wild laughter.
"FREINDS?! We barely know her!" They howled, tears dripping from their eyes. Despite the situation they were in, they just couldn't bring themselves to act serious.
Doc just grabbed each one of their collors in a fist and yanked them out of the ambulance. He was still pulling them along even when they were in the hospital.
"Hey will you Stop?" Kaoru complained.
"My neck's getting raw!" Hikaru groaned.
Doc didn't listen. Finally, when they all had reached a small room at the end of the hall, he released them to say, "Here she is. Now go and be nice. I'll be monitoring."
They sighed, and reluctantly slouched into the room.
The sight they were greeted with was not as bad as they'd expected. Haruhi was very quietly and calmly sitting there, a book in her tiny hands. The title was "Fruits Basket", a Japanese manga. There was some kind of cast thingy on her nose; it was broken.
When she noticed them coming in, she let the book fall while smiling.
"Hello," She said. "Thank you for helping me."
The twins just stood by the doorway, looking at her with bored expressions.
"It wasn't anything that extreme... I was just really dehydrated and had lack of nutrition..." She continued, trying to start conversation.

"Why? Why were you so hungry? And weak?" Kaoru asked nonchalantly.
She looked at her hands before answering.
"Well, I... I kind of live with myself, and don't have that much money. I work at 'Cafe' part time, and that what pays for my food bill. These past week I wasn't able to get any money, resulting in me just not eating."
Hikaru was taken aback. "Then how did you get into Kawaii?" He asked.
She blinked and then sighed.
"Well, this is shameful to say, but I may have... well, after you came in I may have... told the speaker I was with you?"
The boys just looked at eachother and broke into wide, cheshire grins.
"You really did that?" They said softly, their voices breaking on the verge of laughter.
Haruhi nodded, confused.
"That's genious!" They laughed, focusing on eachother.
They continued laughing with themselves as Haruhi just admired them, keeping quiet.
She was finally able to observe their facial features. They both had pretty honey eyes, and a slim pink smile. Their noses were cute and almost childlike, but also mature. They were very attractive.
The boys noticed her staring.
"Like what you see?" They said, raising an eyebrow each.
She kept staring, but blushed a little.
They chuckled a little, and then went back to staring into space.
"Ah... So, are you two excited for high school?" She asked softly.
At the word 'school', each one flinched and drew back.
They stayed silent and looked at the ground.
"I'm guessing no?" Haruhi whispered.
They looked up with a stressed expression. Each one opened their mouth to say something, but were inturrupted by Doc running through the door.
"Miss Fujioka," He huffed, out of breath. He must have been running for a while. "Miss Fujioka, I need to be informed right this instant. Where is your family?"
Haruhi's chocolate brown eyes went wide. The boys instantly looked up and gawked at the farward question.
"My... my family?" She gasped.
Doc looked at her seriously.
"They... they..." She trailed off, her face twisted with emotional pain.
The twins were looking first at Haruhi, then at Doc; so confused they could barley speak.
"Were they or were they not killed in a car accident?" Doc's voice cracked.
Her book dropped off of her lap as her breath hitched and her eyes snapped shut.
"That's why you COULDN'T feed yourself?" Doc continued, not pausing.
"And that's why you're living in a shack on the side of the road?"
"A shack on the road?!" "Not ABLE to feed yourself?!" The twins yelled, despite the awkwardness.
Haruhi nodded slowly, a single tear dripping down her cheek.
At that single act, Hikaru and Kaoru couldn't speak. They were so full of pity and understanding that they couldn't do anything but say...
"You could come live with us,"
