《Legends meet the 100》Chapter 10

Bellamy heard someone yell to his right. This was followed by a thud. He stopped shooting at the grounders and pointed his rifle in the direction where the scream had come from. He couldn't see anything. Suddenly, he heard branches breaking behind him. He jerked around his gun and started shooting at the person who was walking towards him. Somehow, the person just kept walking as if nothing had happened, even though he knew that he had hit that person at least twice. Bellamy looked through his visor. The person was definitely a man, but his skin had a very strange texture. It reflected the trees around the man. His skin looked like it was made out of metal. But that was impossible, right? On the other hand, Bellamy had experienced quite a few things that he had considered to be impossible until they weren't.

Shooting him was obviously not working. And he would definitely not be able to fight him either. Instead, Bellamy told the others to fall back using his radio while hiding behind a tree. Then he got up and ran away from the metal man and the grounders. He didn't stop until he was sure that he was alone. He radioed Pike and the rest of his people. He found them after a few minutes. Some of them were missing.

"What the hell was that?" "What are you talking about, Bellamy?", Pike wanted to know. "Did none of you see the man with metal skin?", Bellamy wondered. Some were nodding while others started talking at the same time. This resulted in a chaos where no-one could understand anything. Pike yelled at them to shut up. Then he told a woman to tell them what she wanted to say. "I saw a man with a gun that shoots fire." "But I thought they don't have any guns and especially not ones that shoot fire", Bellamy remarked. "So did I", Pike murmured with a hint of worry in his voice. He then proceeded to let others say what they had seen. Apparently, there was also a man who shot fireballs from his hands and three women. All of those six strangers were dressed strangely and didn't look like grounders.

Lexa had gathered her people after the shooting had stopped all of a sudden. She checked if they had any injured people and if they had lost anyone. Two grounders were dead and ten were injured, but only one of them was badly hurt. Clarke was trying to do everything in her power to keep the woman alive, but she had lost too much blood. After a few minutes, Clarke got up and told the Commander that the woman had died. She proceeded to check up on all of the other injured warriors. After she was done, she joined Lexa who was sitting on the ground and leaning against a tree. She was lost in thought. The young leader was puzzled as to what exactly had happened. She had noticed that the legends had returned to the grounders a little after everyone else had gathered. She was sure that the shooting had stopped because of the legends, but she didn't know why exactly it had stopped.

Clarke's voice brought her back to the real world. "Commander, your people will be fine. They will survive." Lexa thanked her. "So, what do you think happened?", Clarke wanted to know. "I have no idea", the Commander answered truthfully. "But I am almost certain that it has something to do with our companions.", she added. Clarke agreed with a nod. "I saw their captain fight one of my people. The fight barely lasted a few seconds, before she knocked Monty's mother out." "It appears that we underestimated them", Lexa stated.

Charlie was watching Clarke and the Commander. They seemed to have a serious conversation. She was wondering what they were talking about. Life here seemed to be hard and essentially always about survival. She thought back to when her and the legends had defeated her sisters. She was wondering whether the nuclear catastrophe that had happened here could have been prevented, if they still had the Loom of Fate. Maybe not having free will was worth preventing a catastrophe like this. She turned her head and looked at each of the legends.

"Are you OK?", Sara asked her. Charlie nodded. "Yeah, I think so." It was not worth it. Preventing this catastrophe was not worth sacrificing free will. A smile crept on her face when she looked at her friends who had become her family.

"A lot more grounders would have died if we wouldn't have done anything", Nate said. Sara agreed even though she was still a little unhappy about the fact that they had revealed their powers. She was worried about what the Commander might do about them. She couldn't really blame her if the grounder decided to put them in chains. They were an unknown force that the Commander had underestimated.

Clarke and Lexa got up. The Commander told her people to get ready to leave. She wanted to get going as quickly as possible to get her injured people back to Polis.

"Do I have something in my face?", Mick grunted at a grounder who was staring at him. Ever since they were on a move again, the grounders tried to put as much space as possible between them and the legends. Even though none of the legends could understand the grounder's language, it didn't take a genius to figure out that a lot of the conversations between the grounders was about them. Regular side glances at them confirmed that suspicion. Some of the grounders blatantly stared at the legends. Sara tried to hold Mick back from starting a fight. This awkwardness was starting to become very uncomfortable. Clarke came to their rescue.

"That was you who stopped the shooting, wasn't it?", Clarke stated rather than asked. The legends didn't answer. "Thank you. We would have lost a lot more people without you", she added. "It appears that we have underestimated you."
