《How to write a book》Little writing assignments
Advertisement
Here is a list of little writing assignments you could give yourself to keep practicing:
1. Write a short story about a wooden bench standing in the park. A bird is sitting on top of it. Imagine that the bench has feelings, and write about how the bench feels about it's life. (It can't talk of course.)
2. Open your favourite book on the first page and read the first sentence. Write a short story that starts with the same sentence.
3. Write a short story about a rainbow that appears out of nowhere in front of you. You walk on it and find something (be creative) at the end of the rainbow.
4. Pick up a dictionary and open it on a random page. Pick a random word and then open two other pages to find two other random words. Write a short story with these three words.
5. Write a short story about a murder you witnessed while waiting for the bus to arrive. Write this story from three perspectives: yours, the killer's and someone's you have to come up with yourself.
6. Write a short story about someone who is extremely terrified by triangles. Write this story in three different genres. (For this assignment I would recommend: thriller, comedy and fantasy.)
7. Write a short conversation between a fictional character, and the scariest person you know. Make it as realistic as possible, like it could have really happened.
8. Search for a famous fairy tale on the internet (or in the book you have secretly hidden underneath your pillow to read when no one is watching) and rewrite it. The storyline has to stay the same, but you have to make it rhyme. (like this: aabb etc.)

Note: Slight edits to early chapters (and removal of one chapter - previously chapter 2) have been made 2/2/21 The city, my city, had once been alive in a way that was hard to describe. Thriving, active, hopeful. Vibrant. But life, as I had come to learn, sometimes possesses only the most tenuous of grasps. Finally, in the end, it became my city - mine alone. I was, after all, the only one left. Worse, it was entirely my fault. There was red in my ledger that could never be wiped clean. Not while I still lived, anyway. This story follows Eran, a man who became the opposite of everything he had ever wanted to be; in a world where superpowers began to appear in a rare few, his lack of control over his own power relegated him to the role of a terrible villain - the Reaper, named so for the countless lives that he absorbed and made his own, each only furthering his deadly lack of control. Gone mad with guilt and isolation, he strove for a single heroic act - his own demise. Death was less permanent than he hoped. Centuries later, he woke to a changed world and in a body not his own. Unfortunately, his power came with him. Yet this time, things would be different. This time, he had a chance to bring it under control. He could never truly make up for the things he had done; he could never achieve redemption. That wouldn't stop him from trying to be a hero. 8 141P.A.R.A.D.O.X. PROJECT: Aeon Genesis
The first project focusing on four protagonists within the same world set around fictional 14th-century Europe. This is the first P.A.R.A.D.O.X. PROJECT focusing on 3 (+1) protagonists within the same world set around fictional 14th-century-esque Europe. Each story has its own protagonists (Male or Female Lead), genres (mainly Western Fantasy), and can be read as a standalone. Status: OngoingUpdate(s) per week: 1Words per chapter: 3000 - 6000 *** ‘A human or not; a king or a servant; hope or despair; a hero or a villain.’ Depending on one's perspective and how each story portrays, one will view an individual or a group as evil or virtuous. Because of that, it depends on the reader and listener to believe which one is the truth. More people read and trust multiple (trusted?) sources that either complement or contradict one another. The contradiction becomes the source of debates between those who believe and those who don’t. From that difference in belief, two groups appear: The Majority and The Minority. The majority, having more people, suppress the minorities’ beliefs, claiming theirs, the majorities’, to be the truth. However, the majority are not only composed solely of those who share the same belief but also those who know the truth but afraid to admit it. They have to keep quiet and turn a blind eye for their safety. The majority had to submit to those with power and authority. With the majority under control, those with power and authority can create, manipulate, and/or fabricate truth and lies by force. The reason was for one’s or group’s personal benefits. In the end, there is no such thing as ‘absolute truth’; only sugar-coated lies created by the top. Don’t believe me? It is up to you to decide. Go and read it yourself.

3 years after the dramatic conclusion of the Stasi coup attempt, Theodor Eberbach, who had made a new life for himself in the United Kingdom, returns to mainland Europe following rumors of the survival of Katia Waldheim as humanity is pushed back to a few strongholds by the BETA. Originally written for Muv Luv threads on a certain imageboard, I'm posting it here so I don't lose it. Don't expect me to finish this as it has been around 2 years since I worked on it and I am working on an original writing project, but some feedback would be appreciated.
