《How to write a book》Mapping your world
Advertisement
This chapter isn't just for those of you who have decided to create their own world, it's also for those of you who are using an existing world. It's important to know what the world that you're going to use looks like, feels like, smells like and sounds like to make sure that your story is correct and realistic. You don't want other people to find silly mistakes that could have been prevented by mapping your world.
First answer these questions:
> What language do the inhabitants speak?
> What are the habits of the inhabitants? (Write about eating, sleeping, living, position of men and women, holidays, workdays, raising children, education, politics, economics, technology, magic, religion etc.)
> What kind of social position do your characters have in this world?
These questions apply to self created worlds, and existing worlds.
Keep this in mind: your world should fit your plot.
Now that you know what your world is like you need a map so that you can actually see where things are and what the distances between them are.
WHEN CREATING YOUR OWN WORLD
Open paint on your computer, or grab a piece of paper, a pencil, and an eraser. The first thing you'll have to draw (you'll be able to do this no matter how bad you are at drawing) is the shape of the country or countries that are important in your story or book. Make it big, but leave a little space on the sides so you'll be able to add neighbouring countries.
Draw very simple mountains, lakes, rivers and seas, then add the capital (just a dot, either big or small) and other important cities. If you want your story to take place in a small village, you can add this as well. Don't forget to add forests, deserts, ice plains etc. Just be creative, and add whatever is useful to your plot.

If you're a bad drawer, just add an index of colours/patterns so you'll be able to understand what everything is. Now that you have the geography finished, you can (if you want to) write down where certain supernatural beings are concentrated if they exist.
Now grab some more pieces of paper and draw close-ups of places that are important for your plot. Draw important cities, villages, houses etc. each on a different piece of paper.
If you don't want to create a whole new world, but do want it to be a fictional world, you could use the earth as your example and just change little details, like the names of countries.
USING AN EXISTING WORLD
If you want to use parts of our world, you have to do almost the same as the people who create their own world. First you have to research the places where the story or book will take place and make maps of these places. You can find the maps of cities and villages on Google Maps, but houses you'll have to create yourself. Remember to create houses that fit with the person living in it.
If you've done all this you won't be having trouble placing your character into your world. It will make your story seem realistic, even if it's fiction.

Labyrinthia's Maze
I had always found the idea of “Other Worlds” stupid. Magic wasn’t real. Even if it was the chance of someone spiriting away someone form a world without magic to a world with seemed utterly stupid. After all, what good would a tech geek do in a world of Dungeons and Dragons. Well, jokes on me, I guess. As I was about to log out of the NVR game I have been obsessing over for over 8 years, I blacked out. Next thing I know I am now living as my in game avatar in another world. Only I am now back to scratch, no more giant 200 floor dungeon, no more army of minions and traps, just me and a small room in the ground. Luckily, I have all I need to slowly rebuild my dungeon, I only hope I live long enough to do so. Who sent me here, what do they want from me, and can I ever return home? There better be answers to these questions because, while being my avatar is awesome, I also want to go home… I think.

The Encroaching Rift [Dropped]
This is a story about a young teenager named Colm that had his whole life flipped upside down. On one random day, rifts began appearing across earth. Monsters that were once thought just to be myths began appearing, slaughtering anything in their sights. However all hope was not lost. With the opening of the rifts came a power that would enable humanity to survive. A power that was similar to a game.I took some elements from rpgs and incorporated them into the story.

Beta Zero
You have been selected and given THE choice... From the depths of your desire and desperation you have elected to accept OUR invitation... Your pain and suffering has brought you this chance and through pain and suffering you may yet become more... Arise ye tortured and damned. Your World has abandoned you but you are not yet forgotten. For the Operators it was a chance to learn. For those participating it was a chance to rise. For the Host it was a chance for survival. For Wren and Hiidan it was a chance to exploit... the SYSTEM. This story is sexually, religeously and all kinds of other types of irreverant. Consider yourself warned. Hey, new author here and a relatively new author otherwise. Feel free to take a crack at my writing at whim. Oh, and show the love! The cover is a shopped picture donated from a friend. In other words, I have permission to use but that permission doesn't extend beyond the use as my cover.

Decapod
Reagan was just the average marine biology intern, but he never expected to be drawn into a portal and wake up as one of the creatures who dwells in the ocean. Not only is this seemingly new world confusing and filled to the brim with predatory monsters, but it seems to have a system like an RPG! But Reagan's hopes of incredible powers are quickly destroyed when he makes the discovery that he is a custacean, and crustaceans are the only monsters who can't evolve or get abilities as they level up, the only thing they get is bigger. PS. this is my first story, i accept criticism.

Swan Lake - Larry Stylinson Ballet AU
Larry Ballet AU. *Louis is a boy covered head to toe in Mickey-Mouse band-aids, Harry is a professional Ballet dancer, and they are partners for the Swan Lake performance at the end of the year. But something waits behind Louis' bedroom door. It waits for a long time. It's quite sad that December comes.*3rd person narration.SPOILERS - Trigger Warnings: This story is horror and a tragedy. Sensitive themes including abuse, mental illness, and character death are strongly present. As the author, I do not advise this book for persons under the age of sixteen.
