"Mommy why are we in the woods by ourself?" I ask my mother as I follow her gray form in front of me.

"Because I need to show you how to do some things on your own young pup. Your father is currently aiding the pack a few towns over." She says and my small wolf form runs into her side giddily.

"But I don't want to grow up Mommy, I want to stay with your forever." I say and she stops making me sit in front of her. She licks my head before nuzzling it with her own.

"You have to grow up baby, your going to be the leader of this pack some day. And when you do grow big and strong your going to meet your mate and I know she will be beautiful. She will be everything that you need." She says and I lick her face lovingly.

"But what if I'm not a good Alpha and my mate rejects me." I say looking down and moving the dirt with my small black paw.

"My young child, you will be the greatest Alpha in all our time. And your mate with love you for you because the Moon Goddess destined you two to be together." My mother says giving me one last lick until she jerks her head up and her ears stand tall. She pushes my small body behind a bunch of rocks.

"Y/N, stay here. Don't make a sound and hide. I love you." She says before turning back around and a rogue wolf jumps out from the bushes.

"Well, well what do we have here? The great Y/FN Y/LN mate left unattended. This should be fun." He snarls licking his chops and showing his teeth in a wicked grin.

"I am Y/MN Y/LN, Alpha blood runs through my veins. I am my own person and I am Luna of the Silver Moon Pack. You will do nothing." My mother snarls back getting in her fighting stance. The two circle each other as I peak my head up to see what's happening. The wolf is to focused on my mother to notice me.

The two then collide with one another fighting. I watch my mother defend herself amazingly against this rogue male wolf. Until he manages to pin her to the ground and bite her hind leg. He then moves to her ribs and gashes her side open with his claws. Her now grey fur stained with blood as she looks over at me one last time knowing this was the end. The wolf wraps his jaws around her neck and it was all over.

"Fuck!" I yell sitting up in my bed with sweat rolling down my body. My hearts racing a mile a minute as I just relived the day my mother died. I sigh standing up from my bed and throw on a pair of shorts over my boxers. I grab a muscle shirt sliding it over my sports bra and I tie my hair up into a ponytail as I make my way downstairs. I pass many members of my pack as I take off running into the woods. I stop behind a tree and discard my clothes. I then shift into my black wolf and run as fast as I can through the woods. I don't know where my wolf is taking me, all I know is that I need some time for myself.

Today's the first day of training for the new season. My father is getting older and will be passing down the pack to me soon. He wants me to take it over once I turn eighteen which is in a few days.

"Alpha are you okay?" My beta Cameron mind links me.

"I need to go for a run. I'll be back before lunch." I say back and begin to run faster.

I don't know how long I've been running but it feels like it's been hours. I have finally come to a creek and I slow down to stop and take a drink of water. I stare at my reflection in the water and shake my fur. My blue eyes staring back at me and I then hear a twig snap. I lift my head sensing other wolves surrounding me. A large golden wolf emerges from the bushes along with a small brown wolf at its side. I can feel the alphas energy. They aren't as strong as me but I can feel the little power they do have.

I open up my mind link with them trying to let them know that I'm not a threat.

"My name is Y/N Y/LN from the Silver Moon Pack. I'm the next Alpha. I'm just passing through and mean no harm." I say locking eyes with the golden wolf.

"I'm Dinah Jane Hansen. Alpha of the Westwood Warriors Pack. This is my wife and mate Ally Hernandez. She's from the Mountain Creek Pack. You are welcome to come back to our house if you'd like." She says and her mate nuzzles against her neck with her snout.

I think about it for a minute and decide to follow them. My fathers made many enemies over the years since he refuses to help or be friendly to other packs. This could be a new start for my pack. I follow behind Dinah and Ally as the rest of their pack follow behind me. We come to a clearing before I see a beautiful house. Once we get to the edge line I see numerous piles of clothes. Dinah nods toward an extra pair that must be hers. We all shift behind different trees as I quickly pull on my clothes not wanting anyone to see me.

When I step out I see how tall Dinah actually is and how short her mate Ally is. I smile at them politely as. I approach them. The rest of their pack heads inside giving us a moment alone.

I reach my hand out for Dinah to shake and she smiles before taking it. "It's nice to meet you two." I say shaking then shaking Ally's hand. Dinah then wraps her arm around her mate and kisses her head causing Ally to blush.

"It's nice to put a face to the Alpha of all Alphas. I've always wondered what Y/FN daughter looked like. We all heard rumors about you and your power but it's nothing to what we thought." Dinah says as we stand in front of their home.

"I apologize if my father has brought trouble to your pack. I know he's not what most people consider friendly, but he has his reasons even though they aren't fair." I say following the two as we sit at a table outside.

"I mean, he really hasn't brought any trouble to us, but when my father was Alpha they had a small fight. Nothing I would consider to fawn over." Dinah says and I nod my head understanding.

"Your father denied my family aide when rogues attacked a few years ago. But that's when Dinah's pack came and that's how we met." Ally's says looking at Dinah with love shining in her eyes.

"So I can't hold any grudges either." Ally says snuggling into her mates side.

"Have you found your mate yet?" Dinah asks and I shake my head.

"No I turn eighteen in a two days." I say and they nod their heads in understanding.

"Do you have any idea who it could be, someone in your pack?" Ally asked playing with Dinah's fingers.

"No I don't sense anything from anyone in my pack. And I didn't sense it within yours either." I say looking down at the table.

"Don't worry, it will all happen when the time's right." Dinah says reaching across and patting my shoulder.

"The day I turn eighteen I would like to form allies with your pack." I say looking at the two and they turn to each other. I can tell they are talking in mind link to one another. Dinah turns to me and they both smile. She stands up and so do I. We are face to face and she extends her hand and I grab ahold of it. She pulls me into a hug with our arms still interlocked.

"Allies." She says and I smile wide as we both then wrap our arms around each other in a friendly hug. We pull away and I turn to Ally and hold my hand out for her. She shakes it and gives me a very warm smile.

"It's an honor to be on your side." Ally says and Dinah pulls her into her. I respect my friend and take a step back. It's common courtesy to not step on the forbidden territories of some wolves. And a wolf's mate is their most prized possession. I've always been very respectful to women. I've been with no one because I want to save myself for my mate. She should be the only one to have all of me.

"I would really appreciate it if your pack came to my birthday party. It's going to be a massive celebration because my father is handing down the pack to me that day." I say and the two nod their head understanding.

"We shall be there." Ally says smiling and Dinah kisses her temple.

"Well I should probably get back. I will see you both in two days when the sun begins to go down." I say walking away, the two wave goodbye and I get to the woods edge line as I strip the clothes off and shift into my black wolf.

I begin to take off full speed back toward my territory. When I arrive I see my father arguing with someone I've never seen before. I quickly shift back and grab my clothes pulling them on. I walk to my father to see what all the commotion is about.

"Dad, what's going on?" I ask and see the other man turn towards me. Something about him is familiar to me as I feel something stir in my chest.

"Alpha Alejandro from the Water Stone Pack needs our help in three days. They want us to help defend their land against the Blood Moon Pack." My father scoffs and I give him a look that he only knows.

"Excuse us for a moment Alpha Alejandro." I say taking my father aside.

"I will be Alpha when this war will take place. So I should be making the decision here, not you." I say using my Alpha tone with him and I see him get defensive because he is an Alpha too.

"But Y/N, it was them I was helping when your mother was taken away from you. If you help them.." he starts but I cut him off.

"That's in the past father. And you made the choice to leave mother behind with no one to protect her. It's on you not him." I yell getting angry and sick of my fathers behavior. I leave him by himself as I approach Alpha Alejandro.

I still don't understand why I find him familiar.

"Alpha Alejandro, I apologize for my father's behavior. When the day comes for war my pack will be there to aide you along with my ally, the Hansen pack." I say standing tall and proud. I see him take in the sight of me and get a feeling what type of Alpha I will be. My power radiates and I see him slightly cower but hold his ground. He gives me a genuine smile extending his hand and I take it.

"I'm still terribly sorry about what happened years ago. I can't imagine what you went through." He says and I give him a nod of gratitude.

"If only I was older and could have protected my mother. But that's the past and I hope to build a bright future for my pack and the allies that I come to." I say and he smiles, nodding his head respectfully.

"Once the war is over and we win I would like to call our packs allies." I say looking into the man's eyes.

He nods his head as I can tell he's thinking it all through.

"I wouldn't have it any other way." He says and I nod my head.

"My pack will see you in three days." I say and he leaves with his betas. I watch them disappear in the woods and I turn back to my house. I see my dad storm inside and I groan following right after him.

I have lunch with my pack and then we head back outside to finish training for the day. I look to my pack members and stand tall. My betas stand at my side. Cameron is my first beta. He had been my best friend since we were pups. My second beta is Harley and we meet when we were young too. She's a firecracker that's for sure.

Once we finish training the rest of the pack heads inside to get ready for dinner. I stand outside with my betas as we look up at the moon.

"I can't wait for your party and for you to finally meet your mate." Cameron says placing a comforting hand on my shoulder.

"I bet she's gonna be hot." Harley says and I growl at her causing her to laugh.

"I'm just fucking with you Y/N." She says and I push her away.

"You guys got lucky that your mates were in our pack." I say and they nod their heads in understanding. We all watch the sky for a bit longer before we head inside for bed. I mind link with my pack members that are patrolling the border to make sure everything's okay, which it is.

I now lay wide awake in my bed as I think for the days to come. My life's about to change forever, I just didn't realize how much.
