*Chapter 39*
months later
"Zaron?" I turned around seeing a familiar old man. "Oh, it's really you. Long time no see!"
I widened my eyes as him. "No way, uncle Dan," I grinned, stopped in tracks to greet him. "How have you been doing?"
And that is how I met my uncle on a Saturday evening while I was grocery shopping after not seeing him for three years. We both ended up drinking a bit in his favorite bar, catching up what we both missed out on each other.
"So how is work going?" He curiously asked and took a sip of his beer. Anyway, I couldn't drink since I still had to drive and therefore just got a regular cocktail.
"Good as always." He was the one who promoted me in my current working place. So as a matter of fact I owed him a lot. Unfortunately, he ended up moving to France. "And your family?"
"Ah you know my son Josh is all good but Kelly," he shook his head with a slight chuckle. "Let's just say, she's in her rebellious phase."
"What are you even doing here so suddenly? Had to urge to come and visit us again?" I wondered.
"Well I just had to run a little errand and while I was at it I thought why not just bring my family with me and pay everyone a visit," he shrugged. "I was actually on my way to meet your parents."
"Then what were you doing at the grocery store?" I frowned.
"Getting some wine and chocolate as a gift what else?" He chuckled. "But I guess I can also meet them tomorrow. I also need to go visit your sister. After all, I want to meet my great nephew, right?"
"Oh yeah and even after complaining how much work it is to take care of children, she happen to get pregnant again," I chuckled.
"What?!" He gasped. "Again? Damn that woman," he shook his head. "What about you? You already twenty-six and you still didn't get yourself a girlfriend?"
"Actually," I smirked. "There is someone I plan to marry."
"Oho look at that. Was finally time, wasn't it?" He proudly patted my shoulder. "So tell me about it. What's her name, how's she like?"
"That she is a he," I corrected him.
"H-huh? What did you say?" He furrowed his brows as wrinkles formed on his forehead.
"It's a guy, I said. He's name's Quentin and we're also living together."
"Dang, guess I missed too much." He scratched his neck with a frown. "How did that happen?"
"Oh believe me, that's a long story," I chuckled.
"I think I'll have to stop by at your place, too. Definitely have to meet him," he decided.
"Don't be surprised. And be nice, he's quick to judge someone from the first impression."
"I won't forget," he chuckled.
"Anyway, I guess I'll have to take my leave. He's probably waiting already. But we'll see each other, right?" I stood up.
"Of course. Was nice to see you again," he winked, causing me to smirk.
"You haven't changed at all, uncle Dan."
*
Once I was back home I didn't hesitate to store the groceries in the right places before looking for Quentin. Normally, he would have immediately come to greet me which is why I got curious.
"Quentin?" The living room was empty, so he had to be in the bed room. I slowly opened the door, but he wasn't there, either. So I continued to look around, considering him being in the bathroom or basement. But at the end I found him in the guest room.

"There you are. Didn't you hear me calling you?" He was sitting at the desk scribbling some things down while working at the computer, therefore he didn't notice me coming in.
What was he so focused on that he still hadn't realized my presence right behind him. And to finally grab his attention, I put my arms around him, curious about how he was going to react. "Hey, baby."
He was still not looking at me which got me a bit annoyed, knowing that he was ignoring me on purpose. "Stop ignoring me," I nibbled on his earlobe which seemed to have caught his attention.
"Go away, you reek of alcohol," he waved me off with a slight annoyed look.
"I didn't even drink any!" I huffed after he didn't react. "Tse, fine," I gave up and left him alone to go get something to drink and take a shower.
But even after roughly an hour, I was still left alone. Thus, I decided to look after him again. He was still at the same point. Whatever he was doing, it apparently required his full attention.
"Still not done?" I asked.
"Go away, I have to finish this today!" He complained.
"You can as well finish it tomorrow," I poked his cheek.
"We're going to my home tomorrow, so that won't do," he shook his head.
"Tomorrow?! And when did you plan on telling me that?"
He stopped writing for once and looked at me like it was a dumb question. "Tomorrow, when else?" And then he continued writing. "I just know that since this morning, too. Just after you left, Raven texted me."
"And for how long have you been sitting here?" I frowned.
"Since after you left."
"What?! For almost twelve hours?!"
"Yes, and I'll finish in about twenty minutes but it's about to be even a bit longer if you don't let me concentrate." No wonder, he was so moody.
"Then call me when you're done," I said before leaving the room.
He was probably tired, so I decided to fill the bathtub with hot water and soap before waiting for it to be full enough to turn the water off. Quentin then happened to call me, just when I wanted to get something to eat.
"Finally finished your work?" I cocked an eyebrow as I was leaning against the door, looking at him with a smirk.
"Yup, it took a while," he yawned. "I should have started earlier."
I grinned and shook my head as I went to him and abruptly carried him bride style, causing him to shriek in surprise. "W-what are you doing?"
"Going to the bathroom," I replied just before we arrived and put him down.
"Oh, will you get in with me?" He smiled in hope.
"I already took a shower though," I shook my head.
He pulled his shirt off and sulked. "Doesn't matter," he waved away and forced me to pull my shirt off, too. "I want you to get in." I sighed and didn't object as he unzipped my pants which is why he grinned in success.
After we both undress, I got in first while Quentin took his time before he finally joined me.
"Hey be careful," I warned him when he sat down between my legs and rested against my chest.
"Yup, this is just what I needed." He sighed in comfort. "If you had also prepared some food, it would have been perfect."

"Shut up," I rolled my eyes. "Do I look your maid?"
"Maybe," he chuckled as he was playing with my hands. "Anyway, you came home late today. Where did you go to?"
"Oh I went to buy some groceries when I met my uncle. I haven't seen him for a while so we decided to go get a drink. By the way, he wants to meet you, so don't be surprise if he suddenly shows up."
"I'm getting popular by the number of people who want to meet me," he mumbled and stretched his arms and arched his back before leaning back against me. "I'm so tense from sitting on the damn chair so long," he complained.
"Should I help a bit?" I offered and started massaging his neck and upper back.
"Oh hell yes," he moaned. "Right there." The satisfied response of his made me laugh, seeing as it could've easily been misunderstood. However, I kept on going until he threw his head back with a long sigh. "Did I ever tell ya how amazing you are sometimes," he mentioned.
"Only sometimes?" I raised my eyebrows and stopped. He suddenly stood up to turn around and settled down facing me this time.
"Yeah only sometimes." He crossed his arms behind my neck the way he did it with his leg around my hips. "But there is no need to feel offended." His fingers traced my lips before he softly let his bottom lip brush against mine. "Because I know something else that is more than amazing."
"I knew you couldn't keep your hands to yourself," I smirked
"And still, you decided to join me." That cunning and knowing grin on his face, I just wanted to wipe it off with a kiss. But what I wanted was not significant, just one look straight into his eyes and I was aware that I had no say in this anymore.
He grinned even wider when he mischievously let a hand slip from my shoulder down to my hips where he stopped for a second and chuckled. "Are you trying to turn me on?" I cocked an eyebrow.
"And if?" He flicked his tongue and stroke his hair back, fully revealing his face.
"Then you gotta try harder." My voice came out arrogantly enough to purposefully tempt him in a challenge.
"Zaron," he whispered, his lips was brushing against mine. "I don't need to touch you at all to turn you on." And therefore he removed his hands from me. "In fact, I just have to touch myself," he grinned.
Thus, he started to stroke his cock whilst using his other hand to tease his nipples. And as if that wasn't enough, he also had to shamelessly stare at me, lasciviously bite his lip and let out cute moans, just to rub it in my face and prove to me how damn right he was.
I didn't even had to say anything. The answer was right there simply founded in my crotch region. My lips pressed in a thin line, I looked away, my cheeks probably a bit red when I kept hearing his voice. And he had to overdo it by moaning my name of course.
"Quentin, you suck, you know that?" I mumbled my eyes still fixed on the wall, so I wouldn't stare at him. Though, as soon as he forced me to look back at him, he revoked the distance between us by connecting our lips in a passionate kiss.
"I know," he answered when I didn't actually wanted him to. His hand went quickly around my limb until he didn't hesitate to partially get up and push it in almost in one go.
"Que-," I started and grabbed his hip in reflex when he stopped me. He really needs to stop doing that, for real.
"Wait, just a bit more." He sighed before he managed the rest of my length and rested his chin on my shoulder.
"Are you okay?" I wanted to make sure. But I didn't get an answer. "Quentin?" I frowned and gently tried to get some eye contact. But the sight of him with eyes shut and steadily breathing made my jar drop.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me," I widened my eyes. "Hey Quentin, wake up!" I shook him, not so gentle than I was before. "Don't leave me hangin', baby." But it was hopeless, he didn't budge an inch. He just lifelessly slumped back against me as soon as I let go.
"I fucking hate you!"
**
"Ugh Zaron, please!" Quentin desperately tried to get my attention as we were driving to his house. "I'm telling you it was not intentional."
It didn't matter what he said, I was still mad at him and therefore decided to ignore him. As I stopped the car, arriving in front of his place, I hurried up in getting out while Quentin quickly caught up and went ahead to ring the bell.
It was Ace, opening the door, allowing us to meet every one in the living room.
"Zawen, Queny!" Leroy ran across the room to engulf us in a tight hug.
"Hey cutie pie," Quentin greeted him with a smile like we weren't just quarreling before as I copied him. But as soon as Mira called him back to finish his food, we were back to our distance.
"You seriously took your time, didn't ya?" Jin glanced at the clock. We should have actually already been here two hours ago but yeah you know.
"Uhm, right we had our difficulties," Quentin mumbled. I could see from the corner of my eyes how they both glanced at me.
"Difficulties, huh? I see," Ramon wiggle with his eyebrows and I seriously didn't want to know what naughty stuff was going through his mind then.
"No, not that," he shook his head as he shot me an apologetic glance, but I just looked away, avoided him.
"Damn, what did you do?" Raven frowned.
And the moment his explanation in one sentence left his mouth the room was filled with endless laughter.
"You- you did what?!" Myles clutched his stomach, failing in suppressing his laugh.
"Haha no way, you never change, do you?" Ace had tears in his eyes so much that he was laughing. And even Mira had to pause the feeding while Leroy was confusingly wondering what all was about.
"Hey guys, stop! It's seriously not funny," Quentin complained.
"I agree," I muttered.
"Sorry, I just can't," Ramon laughed. "And you are still alive? Zaron, you gotta tell me where you fetch that self control of yours!"
"I want to know, too!" Jin raised his arm in amusement.
"Oh jeez. You are of no help," Quentin gave up.

Hello ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to my first attempt at writing a novel. I am preparing to participate in the 2017 NaNoWriMo event so enjoy the first chapter as that's here early only to ensure that I have a place to post once the event starts. This means the first novel/book will have a target of 50,000 words. I'm excited to attempt this challenge despite the hurdles I will have to overcome. I do have a demanding full time job so planning time to write and make weekly releases starting in November will be my biggest challenge. Also, please accept my apologies on my cover. I'm not an artist and the only digital tool available at my disposal is the stock microsoft paint. So I did my best to create a decent cover as I did not want to steal the work of another. If there are those interested by the end of November in donating a new fan made cover then I will look into replacing the old cover.

Cutting to Life: an NPC LitRPG (Battle Royale)
Nikola is an NPC in The World of Wills, a video game where players can feel sensations as if they were truly there. She leads a life of bloodshed and murder - that is, until one day she wakes up sapient. Just as she begins thinking real, non-scripted thoughts and making connections, she and the players in the game are told that if they die in the game, they die in real life - and it's time to get killing. But what of Nikola, the emerging AI consciousness? How does she win in a game that can only end in her being wiped from existence at the end of it all? - Updates Mondays and Fridays. Cutting to Life is a slow-burn LitRPG with a villainous (later anti-hero, or maybe still villainous, haha) female lead. It's told from the perspective of Nikola, an NPC within the World of Wills who's become sapient and is now mysteriously able to play the game as a PC. It's quite light for a LitRPG, but the system and stats become more of a focus later when Nikola herself can access them. The story gradually builds into a Battle Royale where the players' lives are on the line (if you die in the game, you die in real life), and only one party of savvy adventurers can win. They'll have to spend their time and stats wisely as dungeons promising rare gear float down from the sky - but is a legendary sword worth killing someone for, knowing they'll stay dead forever? - This story is told in third person, past tense.- This is a slow-burn LitRPG that spends a lot of time establishing its setting and characters, because I believe this will make for a better payoff in the end. As such, the Battle Royale doesn't start until chapter 30 or so.- Chapters are anywhere between 800 words and 3000 words long.- Book cover by Vixeona.Cutting to Life is also being posted on SPB and Scribble Hub.Thank you sincerely for reading.
