《His Red Eyes {SasuNaru}》Chapter 18

"We're here, time to get off everyone," I opened my eyes to the golden sunlight shining through the window blinding me. I rubbed my eyes gently, trying to wake up.
The chatter on the bus ceased and was instead, replaced with the rattling of bags and steps against the metal floor of the bus. I quickly glimpse over at Naruto, who was still resting his head on my firm shoulder.
I shook him gently to wake him up, "Wake up, Naru, we're here," I whisper to him softly. Naruto groaned, his eyes fluttering, and raised his head a bit to meet eyes with me.
"Already here?" he asked me in a weak voice, "Mhm," I reply, grabbing both our bags off the ground, mine being a dark gray and his being a dim red. Once he was entirely awake, I gave him his bag, and I stood up, Naruto following suit.
We were one of the last ones to get off the bus. Everyone had their bags on and were next to their partners, patiently waiting for Kakashi sensei's next directions.
Naruto got off the bus and leaned on me for support, to be honest, I wasn't any more balanced than he was, but I had to deal with it if we were going to stand.
"It is currently 4 PM. We will now be heading up the mountain. Today we will leave you and your partner in a designated marked area that you will not leave for the rest of your stay here," he explained to us in a bored tone.
"Teachers will have hourly trips to make sure you are okay. We will also be grading you on how you are doing surviving out here. That's really there is to it. Let's hurry up before Guy starts bragging about how quick they were." he told us, trying to hurry us all up.
He began walking up the dirt trail and motioned for the rest of us to follow close behind him with a swift hand motion.
Our class started trailing behind him through the vast amount of trees on the mountain, the birds were singing their sweet melodic tunes, and the wind rustled through the thick dark branches of the large pine trees.
The leaves that we stepped on left a crisp crunching noise as we lifted our feet off of the crumpled leaf. The rest of our class were already mesmerizing their new environment since they were to see this sort of thing for the next couple of hours.

As everyone finally soaked into their surroundings. A game of 'I spy' arose between the class, Naruto, myself, and 3 other people who were the only people that decided not to join in.
While the rest of our classmates played eye spy Naruto bombarded me with questions, "Correct me if I'm wrong, Ino and Sakura are soulmates," he guessed, his hopes high as he tried guessing who everyone soulmate was. It was a small game we made up a week or two ago.
I smiled and nodded at him. He beamed at me, "I'm so great at this game, aren't I?" he asked smugly. I ruffled his spiky blonde hair, "Keep dreaming, idiot,"
The people in front of us came to an abrupt stop making us almost bump into them. Naruto and I were confused, so I glanced near the front of the line, "We've reached the main campgrounds where the teachers are going to stay in," Kakashi said, pointing at a campsite with a tent already made, with Guy sensei cheering how he had finished making his tent first.
"The rest of you all will be spread out evenly throughout the mountain, but not too much to the point where you can't find us, unfortunately," I would like to say Kakashi was joking, but this was Kakashi, he didn't joke very often.
He whipped out a crinkled piece of paper from his pocket and unfolded it carefully, trying not to tear it. "Ino, Sakura," he called out to the two girls in the front of the line, he pointed to his right, "Your campsite is over there, go on and head over there,"
They nodded and walked towards their campsite with spirit. Kakashi continued to call names. We tuned out most of them until our name came along, "...and Shino to the southwest, Sasuke and Naruto," My ears perked up at that.
He pointed directly behind him, "Head over right behind me," he stated blandly. We looked at each other and gave the other a firm nod before making our way through the crowded group of kids.
After getting past all of them, we found the path to our campsite, "This way," I said, pointing out the sign that led to our campsite.
Naruto nodded with a huge grin on his face. We started walking to the campsite. "You know, I've always wanted to go camping," he tells me.

"Really?" I ask him curiously, he nods with a smile. "I wanted to, but my dad wasn't around all that much, so we never got any time to do it," he explained, looking back ahead of us.
"Well, now you can," I tell him. He nods in agreement, "And this time, it'll be even better now that you're here!" he cheered.
If it were possible, I'd be having a nosebleed from how cute he was being right now. I try holding back the crimson red that was rising to my cheeks.
"Yeah," I replied, agreeing with him. We continued walking until we saw a light brown, circular area where there were hardly any trees. It looked like we had found it.
We made our way to the center of the area, where we placed our bags on the ground. After placing his bag down, Naruto stretched his arms, "I'm surprised my back isn't broken," he said, bending over.
"Okay, what do we have to do first?" he asked looking up at me. I open the first zip on my bag and pull out a sheet of paper with instructions that the school gave us.
"It says we have to set up the tent," I read off the top of the list. He nods and gets the items we need for the tent.
Before we left, the teachers gave us the tools and materials needed to set up the tent. The point of this thing was teamwork, stupid if you ask me.
After Naruto and I finished setting the small dark green tent up, we had one thing done on our list, 17 bruises and 3 grazes on both knees. This is why I'm never going camping ever again.
"I'm never trusting you with a hammer again," I state out loud in annoyance. Naruto gave me a dirty look, "Like you were any better, Mr. Let's-give-Naruto-12-fucking-bruises," he complained.
"Oh shut the fuck up, let's just go onto the next task," I tell him, in irritation. He rolled his eyes and picked up the paper from the ground. After reading the next line, his eyes lit up immediately as if the previous argument never occurred.
He looked over at me quickly, "Fire! We have to make a fire!" he exclaimed, beaming at me until the sudden realization that he was supposed to be mad at him.
"I'll get the rocks," he grumbled, walking away to a nearby stream to get stones and rocks. I sighed. He really could hold a grudge.
I strolled deeper into the woods until I came across the small red flags placed alongside the border of our limited area that we were not to cross.
There were a couple of short sticks lying around on our side, so I began picking them up one by one. After getting enough to fill a whole barrel, I walked back to where Naruto was supposed to be starting the campfire.
As the tent came into view, I saw Naruto, eyes closed, lying down by some rocks, placed in a circle as the base of the campfire.
As I approached him, he opened his eyes and sat up on his left arm. "Oh, there you are, Sasuke," he greeted me while smiling. I was perplexed. He really did change moods often.
"Pass me the sticks," he ordered me, after getting up and outstretching his arms to take the sticks. I hovered my arms over his and gently placed them in his arms.
"Weren't you mad at me about 5 minutes ago?" I ask him. I almost instantly regretted saying that. He frowned at me and immediately turned around on the spot and started placing the sticks in their respective way.
Great job, Sasuke, you fucked up, now he's angry at you again. I sighed and turned around to take the materials out of the bag to make the water filter. Today is going to be one heck of a long day.
A/N Okay bad news, I decided I won't have the smut in this chapter or the next. I realized it wouldn't be as relevant so I'll have it in a later chapter. Sorry again.
