"Hey Miss Helen, how are you?" I asked as I answered my phone.

"I'm good baby. How have you and Kaiser been?" She asked.

"We've been good."

"That's good, I'm having a family gathering today. I was wondering if you could come by. I miss you and Kaiser" Helen said.

I thought about it for a moment before speaking up.

"Uh, yeah we'll come by. What time does it start?"

"Three o'clock, you can bring a friend if you'd like" Helen said.

"Okay Miss Helen. We'll see you later."

"Okay sweetie, see y'all then" Helen said before hanging up.

I placed my phone down on the bathroom counter then finished washing Kaiser's hair.

"Girl, Kareem just invited us to East's pool party tomorrow. It's going to be the hottest party in the city" Kelis said as she walked into the bathroom.

"I don't know sis. They seem cool and all, but I don't really know them like that."

"Oh come on! Even Sammy is going" Kelis said.

I smacked my lips, "stop lying."

Samantha hardly ever goes out. Parties aren't really her thing, so I was shocked to hear that she would be at East's party.

"On hood, Sammy is going to be there" Kelis said.

"I don't have a-" Kelis cut me off before I could even reply.

"I already asked Lani if she could babysit for you" Kelis said.

"She just babysat for me though. I don't want to keep bugging her."

"Gen, I know my sister. If she didn't want to watch Kaiser then she would've said that. You know how blunt she is" Kelis said.

I sighed, "let me think about it."

"Okay girl, you have until tomorrow morning to make up your mind" Kelis said.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, can you make Kaiser some lunch while I get him ready?"

Kelis nodded, "of course."

"Girl, the hood niggas are OUT around here" Kelis said as she looked around.

Miss Helen always brings the hood out when she hosts an event. She's like the God mother of the hood. She has that comforting, motherly vibe that people tend to be drawn to.

Kaiser let go of my hand then ran off to a group of guys.

"KAISER! GET YOUR LITTLE BUTT BACK HERE!" I shouted as I chased after him.

He ran right over to a guy then grabbed his leg as if he knew him or something. I was shocked when I seen that it was East.

"I'm so sorry" I said in an apologetic tone.

"He good" East said as he kept his eyes on Kaiser.

"Wassup lil man" East smiled then picked Kaiser up.

That was the first time I've ever seen him smile. I guess he has a soft spot for kids.

"You got him G-" Kelis stopped midsentence when she seen East holding Kaiser.

East finally looked at me then handed Kaiser to me. He smiled at Kaiser then rubbed his head before walking away.

"Girl I- I don't even know what to say" Kelis said.

"Shit, me either sis. Kaiser's bad ass just ran over to him then he picked him up."

"I guess ole boy has a soft spot for kids" Kelis said as she shrugged.

"Yeah, I guess so" I said as I started staring at East.

I never noticed how attractive this man was. I mean I did notice, but now I'm taking in EVERY feature. I'm five foot seven, yet he still towered over me. His hair was freshly cut, he was covered in tattoos, and his voice was deep and sexy. Let me not leave out those beautiful bedroom eyes of his. I see why every bitch in LA is chasing after him.

"Genesis! Hey baby" Helen said, breaking me out of my thoughts.

"Hey miss Helen! You look beautiful as always" I said as I hugged her.

"Thank you my love. You're looking beautiful yourself" she said.

I smiled, "thank you. This is my friend Kelis."

Kelis smiled then shook Helen's hand.

"Two beautiful young ladies" Helen said as we smiled.

"And look at this handsome little man" Helen said as she took Kaiser out of my arms.

"Handsome and bad" I said as I rolled my eyes playfully.

"He's not bad. He's just doing what boys do" Helen said as we all laughed.

"I want y'all to meet my son" Helen said as we nodded.

"ZANDER! COME MEET THESE BEAUTIFUL LADIES" Helen shouted.

"That name sounds familiar" Kelis said.

Moments later a tall, light skin man walked over to us. I realized that he was one of the guys from East's crew.

"Damn, it's a small world" Zander said as he smirked.

"You know these young ladies?" Helen asked.

Zander nodded, "I met them a few days ago."

"We really do live in a small world. Genesis is Kaiser's mother" Helen said.

"For real? How did I not meet you sooner?" Zander asked.

I shrugged, "I'm not really an outside person. I like being at home."

Zander nodded then took Kaiser from his mother.

"Do you mind if I take him over there to get some cotton candy?" Zander asked as he pointed to a food truck.

I was hesitant at first, but Helen convinced me to let him go.

"I am so damn tired. I know Kaiser is going to go straight to sleep when we get home."

"Girl, I'm going to sleep right along with him. I don't even feel like driving home" Kelis said as I laughed.

We walked over to Zander so that I could get Kaiser. Zander had him this whole time since Kaiser was acting like he didn't want to stay with me.

I approached the group of men and seen that East was the one who had Kaiser.

"Lil man don't even fuck with me anymore. He ran over to East as soon as he saw him" Zander said.

What has my baby so damn drawn to East?

"Thank you" I said as East handed Kaiser to me.

East ignored me then gave Kaiser a high five.

"Well fuck you too then nigga" I thought to myself.

Kelis and I said our goodbyes before heading to my car.

"East must wanna be Kaiser's step daddy or something" Kelis said as I laughed.

"I doubt it. I think he just likes kids."

"Maybe you can give him a kid" Kelis said as she winked.

"Girl stop, you do too much."

Kelis laughed, "I'm just saying sis."

I rolled my eyes playfully then headed home.
