《Life in a Spiral.》Epilogue

"Rohan will you please help me in arranging the room?", I pleaded my husband. Its difficult to keep rooms arranged when there are two toddlers fighting like cats and dogs in the house.

I didn't even complete sweeping half of the room when I heard a crashing sound in the next room..

These two will never let me sit in peace even for a second.

"What did you break Ayaan?", I asked my two year old son.

He looked at me with such guilt filled eyes that I couldn't help but stop myself from scolding him. Pointing his index finger towards the broken flower vase, he tried to show how sorry he was.

"This is not going to work Ayaan. Everytime you break something you cant say sorry and get away with it. This was a costly vase", I folded my arms across my chest.

"Sorry mommy", he apologised and I couldn't help but melt down at his sweet gestures.

"Its okay.. be a good child. I have many pending works to do.."

After about completing all the work I got some time to get ready.

"Anjali! Hurry up! The guests will be coming soon..", Rohan yelled from the next room.

"Just five more minutes..."

I placed the birthday cake of Ayaan on the table and fixed the candles surrounding it followed by the plastic knife beside it.

"All set?", Rohan asked.

"Mostly", I answered with a genuine smile.

He placed the big "happy birthday" banner and decorated the room with colourful baloons..

"Aisha and Ayaan, are you ready?"

"Yes mommy", they said in unison.

One by one all the invited guests arrived and I had a hard time managing them together as well keeping an eye on Aisha and Ayaan.

"Ayaan stand in front of the cake and hold the knife firmly in your hand", Rohan instructed.

"Blow the candles my child."

The room buzzed with the birthday song as everyone wished for Ayaan. With one stroke he cut out a piece of cake. He looked at me so adorably trying to seek permission for eating the cake.

"Give this piece to the person you love the most", my mother advised.

Ayaan became more confused and glanced from me to Rohan to Aisha. Everyone waited eagerly for Ayaan to choose the person he loves the most. Finally what seemed like an eternity he took slow steps towards Aisha but contrary to everyone's expectations smashed the cake on her face instead of feeding her.

Aisha looked at him with such an intense gaze that I feared these two will start fighting again.

"Why did you do that Ayaan?", Rohan enquired.

"She disturbs me all the time.."

"Its not right.. what did grandma ask you to do?", I said.

"I dont know whom I love the most. I love you all", he said so sweetly that everyone had an expression of "aww" on their face.

"Hii Anjali", Natasha pulled me into a strong hug.

"Hii Nats, its such a long time", I was on the verge of shedding happy tears.

"I miss you".

"I miss our good old days.."

Time changes a lot of things. Natasha and I have been distant over the years but never get separated. She has moved to Dubai and is in a live in with Pritam. Sounds too bad right? I am happy for them, they are not ready to marry as of now. As long as they are happily living in love I am happy for them..

"A small token of love to your lovely children". I pulled out of Natasha's hug and looked at the person. His features have remained same but he has changed a lot, he is the perfect example of how love can bring changes in life.

"Hii Anshul.."

"Hii.."

I smiled at him and the gorgeous lady beside him. He has been married for two years and has changed completely. Time erases many hard feelings. Anshul realised his mistake and has asked for forgiveness on every occassion. I have forgiven him long back.

"Hii Meera", I shook hands with Anshul's wife.

"Hello.. you have got beautiful kids..", she said with a smile.

Over these years I havent come across a more apt description of love other than "family". Love lies in family, in family lies love. As every guest departed Aisha and Rohan sat for opening every gift one by one.

"Mommy where is your gift?", Ayaan asked.

"Here it is", I handed Ayaan a kindle with player for telling stories whenever he wants.

"Daddy where is my gift?"

"Here it is..", Rohan stretched his hand towards Ayaan and Aisha.

I looked Rohan without understanding what gift did he bring for his son.

"Where is the gift?", the children asked in a confused tone.

With a smile Rohan lifted up his sleeves to reveal his wrists. I looked at him with an admiration as my eyes fell on the newly made tattoos of Aisha and Ayaan's names on both his hand.

Ayaan was too small to understand the importance of the gift but Aisha looked at her dad like he was her God.

"What is this?", Ayaan asked after a long time.

"A tattoo..", I said. "Ayaan this is your best birthday gift. Your daddy loves you so much that he got your name inked. This will always be permanent on his hand.."

"Thank you daddy", both of them hugged Rohan.

Shortly after dinner Aisha and Ayaan broke into one of their usual fights over a banana.

"Its banana", Aisha said with her arms crossed.

"Its bananana", Ayaan said with confidence.

"Its banana.."

"No its bananana"

"Ayaan, your sister is right, its banana..", I tried to correct him.

"Mommy I hate banana, so its bananana for me.."

I dont know should I laugh or cry at Ayaan's logic.

"Is my wife jealous?", Rohan whispered in a husky voice shortly after the children went off to sleep.

"Jealous and me?"

"Yes, jealous after all I never got your name inked on my skin...", he replied.

"You dont need to get my name inked on your skin. I can always do that.. wanna see?"

"I would love to see", his voice dripped with the kind of desire I have been familiar with.

"Are you sure about inking my name over you?", I asked again.

"Shh! Just do it...", Rohan closed his eyes and I grabbed the red lipstick from the table nearby and wrote my name just on his chest, near his heart.

"Open your eyes", I said.

"What have you done!", he exclaimed as he looked into the mirror and pulled me into one of our passionate kisses.

"I love you.."

"I love you too..", I said as the night ended passionately for us.

My life seems to move in the spiral of love. The more I try to reach towards the centre, the more I get trapped in the vastness of love and responsibilies. I closed my eyes admiring the person next to me for one last time.

A perfect love, a perfect family, a perfect job and two perfect kids, what more can I wish for?

The night ended a beautiful day. The next day may not bring happiness for me but with the support of Rohan I can conquer anything.

This is the perfect example of living in love...
