"We have to take Milani to school in the morning." I remembered as she laid in my lap sleep

Messiah and I were just up watching all kinds of movies. Right now we were watching Of Mice and Men. Neither of us had watched it.

"She don't wanna go to school." he said shaking his head "Oh well." I shrugged and he smacked his lips and started tapping Milani to wake her up

"Stop." I smacked his hand and he hit me back and continued tapping her then he rubbed my arm "Sorry. Millani wake up."

I chuckled shaking my head. She got up and socked him making my eyes widen then she laid back down.

"Thats why you gotta go school tomorrow." he said and she popped back up "Mommy I don't wanna go to school." she says almost whining.

"Okay well be dumb for the rest of your life." I shrugged "I'm not dumb."

"You gone be dumb if you don't go to school. The only things you gone know for the rest of your life is your name. Birthday. ABC's. And you're age. Thats all. And you gone be broke as fuck." I said

"I'ma be broke?" she mumbled to herself "You still gone love me if I'm dumb?" she askes and I nodded

"Then I still don't wanna go to school." she said and laid back down. "Siah not gone love you though." I said and she came back up

"Milani you're going to school wether you like it or not." I said "Loser ass" she said making a L with her fingers then made her way off the bed.

"Good night nigga." Messiah said and she laughed "Good night y'all." she waved.

"Good night baby." I waved back "Good night baby" Messiah mocked "You wanna be the better parent so bad." he mumbled

"You wanna know something you said to me that actually scared me?" he asked me and I nodded

"Yea I was like you gone lick me like that wood and you was like nah I'll smoke you like it though. I believed you too." he said and I shook my head

As I opened the door to leave the room Milani was holding her hand up as if she were about to knock "Good morning mommy."

"Good morning baby." I smile "Good morning dada."

"Stadeal." Messiah greeted her making me shake my head. "Did you already brush your teeth and wash you face?"

"Yes" she smiled showing her teeth

"Lets go get you something to wear."

"I wanna wear this" she pointed at her pajamas. "Immediately no." I shook my head scooping her up

"You're judging?" she asked and I nodded. "Yes."

"But you only have 4 scoops of hair so you can't judge." she said and I laughed

We walked in her room and I sat her on the bed and started to look for her some clothes.

"Can I choose my outfit?" she asked "Tomorrow you can. You're supposed to wear pink today." I said "Everyone?"

"No it's wear your favorite color day." I lied "Yay. I like school." she said

She gone be even more happy when she see Dj and Serenity. Messiah told her she was gone be in a class by herself with no friends. Evil.

"You have on underwear?" I asked "Duh." she rolled her neck "Don't do too much." I mug throwing her clothes at her.

"Put that on then we go- I didn't lotion you." I realize cutting myself off "You did last night when I got out the shower." she said as I grabbed her shoe box

"Oh. Look at me mom of the year." I said making her chuckle "Okay put that on then come to my room." I said and she nodded taking off her shirt

I left out of her room cracking the door and walked to my room. "Hi babymama."

"Hi babydaddy." I said putting the shoe box on the bed

"She still gotta go to school?" he asks and I nod. "Yes."

"Kindergarten don't even matter for real." he mumbled and I chuckled. "It does. Not for her though cause she knows the basics already."

"Exactly." he mumbled

"If she likes it we'll keep her in if she doesn't like it we can take her out deal?" I said "No cause she gone like it."

"You gone come with me to drop her off?" I ignored him "Yea. I gotta give her a talk" he said and I sighed

"Moooom" I heard Milani yell. I just looked at the door until she came in "What happened?" I asked

"Can I go like this" she asked trying not to laugh. She had on the track suit with no shirt under "Absolutely not. Goofy self." I said

She started giggling and took off the jacket to put on her shirt that was in between her legs. "You want me to make you breakfast or go to Mcdonalds?" I asked her

"You don't have enough time to make her breakfast."

"What time is it?" I picked up my phone seeing it was 7:48.

20 minutes...

By the time I'm done cooking and she done eatin' twenty minutes gone pass.

"Mcdonalds it is." I say throwing on one of Messiah's sweaters. "Get on the bed so dad can put on your shoes." I told her

I got her backpack from the hanging rack on my door and sat it on the dresser.

"Are you excited?" I asked Milani and Messiah whispered something to her "No I want to stay home."

"See she wanna stay." he said "I don't." she shook her head and he smacked his lips tying her shoe

Forgot she had a scarf on. I thought to myself unwrapping it. I just put it in a ponytail because school on a friday for introductions then I'll do it over the weekend so she's set for the next 2 weeks.

"You look so pretty let me take a picture" I said feeling for my phone and she gave it to me

"Say che-" "Cheeseeeeee." she smiled hard and I took a picture smiling. "Now-" "No. Come on before she don't have no breakfast." Messiah said and we smack our lips

"Eat more of your sandwich . You can take the hash brown." I said to Milani and she did.

She showed me a little less than half of the sandwich was eaten. "You're done with it?" I asked and she nodded.

I handed her the orange juice and reached back grabbing her sandwich.

"Okay I'm full now." she said sitting the drink down "You ready?" I asked and she shook her head.

"Am I coming back home?" she asks "Yea its like daycare. You'll have fun I promise. Okay?" I said

I got out of the car and so did Messiah opening the door for Milani. We started to walk toward the school and she held Messiah's hand

Then she started running to Serenity. "Hi Serenity!" she yelled while waving.

"Hi Milani! Look we're matching!" Serenity yells running as well then they finally hug like they didn't have a playdate a few days before

"Heyyy" Sierra, Serenity's mom, waved at me and I waved back "Hi"

"Is your favorite color pink too?" Milani asked Serenity "No its green."

"Why you wearing pink then? You're supposed to wear your favorite color." Milani said

"My mom said on fridays I'm supposed to wear pink."

We all started to walk over there.

"Serenity was stressed out when Jay gave her that talk in the car." Sierra chuckles

"She all happy and shit." I mumbled pointing at a teacher who was smiling hella hard. "Stupid." Lucky laughed

We put them in the same class because...we can. Why not? Plus the teacher was black.

As we walked up she waved at us. Nobody waved back though.

"Heyyy." Sierra greeted as she got closer. This teacher kinda fine I ain't gone hold you.

"Good morning."

"What are y'all names." she bends down talking to Jailynn and Serenity "I'm Jailynn, she's Serenity." Serenity was hiding behind him out of shyness

"Hi Serenity" she smiled "Hi." Serenity waved "I'm Ms. Riley and I'm going to be your teacher. Are you okay with that?"

"No. I don't want to be here." Serenity said and I snorted "You'll like it I promise your gonna want to come back." Ms. Riley says

"If you lyin' I'm not comin' back." Serenity said "Okay. That's fair. You wanna go inside?"

"I just said I don-" "We'll take them inside thank you." Sierra cut Serenity off and they made their way inside.

"Goodmoring. This is D'jaunn and you can keep him." Lucky said "For real mom? And you gone let her say that?" he shook his head at Bam.

"My name is D'jaunn but you can call me Dj."

"Nice to meet you Dj. I'm Ms. Riley."

"You want ice cream when you get out?" I heard Messiah ask. "Yes. With sprinkles too." I turned around watching them walk up

"For sure."

"You ready to go inside?" Ms. Riley asks Dj "No I'm waiting for Lani." he said "I'm right here." she said and he turned around.

"Hi. I'm Ms. Riley, what's your name?" she asked Milani

"Milani. You my teacher?" Milani asked

"Yes."

"How old are you?"

"Milani." I chuckled "I thought teachers were old." she said to me and I shook my head

"I'm sorry." I apologize "No you're fine. I like her she thinks I'm young." well shit how old is you for real.

"Anyways you're pretty."

"Thank you, so are you. Are you ready to go inside."

"No. I didn't really want to come but it's whatever." Milani shrugged "You'll love it. Pinky promise." she held her linky out

Milani wrapped her finger around it.

"You guys can go inside now." she gave a warm smile

"Thank you."

"Oh y'all comin' with us?" Milani asked and I nodded

We go inside and find Sierra and them.

"I don't wanna leave her here. All these dirty ass kids." Messiah said making me laugh a little "Messiah you can't say that."

"Yes I can." he mumbled

"Hi can I have everyone's attention?!" Ms. Riley spoke and the conversations started to die down

"As you all know. I am Ms. Riley, this is my 4th year working as a Kindergarten teacher. My goal is to help your children develop a self esteem, practice social, problem solving, and study skills. I am also here to show our students how to be more specific, measurable, agreed upon, reslistic and time-based. The Kindergartners get out at 1:15 but if you have another student attending this school we have a daycare that allows you to pick up your students at the same time or you can keep them there for work reasons or whatever the case may be. You can also drop off food to your students and electronics are allowed for free time. Are there any questions?" she asked

A few parents raised their hands.

"Yes"

"When does the daycare close?"

"6:30 p.m."

"Can we come to the class and bring the food or how does that work?" another asked

"If you want to physically give your child the food yourself you would have to bring it during lunchtime or my aid" she pointed "will go to the office and pick it up."

These are some dumb ass questions. I thought to myself raising my hand. "How should we contact you?" I asked "I'm sorry?" she cupped her ear

"Today I will be sending out emails to each of you guys with all of my contact information." she said and I nodded

"How do you discipline?" Lucky asked "I will take away free time, fun day friday or if we are supposed to be doing something fun that day then I'd take that away as well."

"Are there nap times?" a parent asks "So normally toward the end of the day I would read stories out loud while they're on their mats and normally students do tend to fall asleep and since it's the end of the day I won't wake them until their parent arrives. If they don't fall asleep then they have the rest of the day to themselves."

"Anymore questions?" she asked looking around. "No? Well I hope everyone has a great day I will see you all at 1:15" she smiles

"Get up Lani." I said so that I could get up. "Where y'all goin'? I though you said y'all was comin' with us." she frowned

"We did come with y'all now its time for us to go." I said "I don't want y'all to leave." she said "Baby we're coming back to get you okay? Were not going to leave you." I tell her

"You promise?" she asked "I pinky promise." I say wrapping my pinky around hers

"Yeah and remember when we come back we can get ice cream with sprinkles." Messiah said. "Y'all gone wait for me outside?" she asked and I nodded

"And you gone be here with Dj and Serenity they got you." I said and she nodded "Okay. Please don't forget me here." she mumbled "We're not."

She got up from my lap and hugged me before I stood up. I hugged her back and kissed her forehead then she went to hug Siah.

"I love you guys." her voice cracked while she was still hugging Messiah. Bye I'm finna cry, she so dramatic

"We love you too." we say in unison as she lets go of Siah. I turned to the side wiping under my eyes.

"Okay wee see you later."

"See y'all later." she mumbled. But I was glued to the floor. I didn't want her to feel like we we're leaving her for good.

I looked up at Messiah and he wiped under my eyes with his thumbs. "Who wants to color for our first fun activity? The winner gets candy." Ms. Riley bribed and kids ran over to her

"Go color me somethin' girl." Messiah said to Milani and a small smile formed on her face "I'm gone die if I eat candy." she said

I chuckled shaking my head. She waved us bye and we waved back finally leaving. "I mean it's just friday we can take her with us." I said

"I mean we can. You wanna go back and get her?" Messiah asked "Lowkey."

"Yea well we can't cause then we're gonna keep doing it over and over." Messiah said

"I'ma miss my lil bestie for these six hours of the day." I mumbled
