《The Attachment - A Colby Brock Fan Fiction》~*~*~Chapter Eight~*~*~

It had been a couple of days and things had been quiet. I found a box to keep Jennifer's ring in. It was on my dresser with her photo beside it. I was wondering if she was finally calming down or if she was avoiding me out of anger. She hadn't disturbed my dreams or anything, but today was the test. We were in Canada, and we were doing an investigation. Katrina and Amanda were joining us today.
It would be nice seeing them both. I know Katrina and Jennifer were best friends, but I don't think Sam had told her of my Jen attachment. It would only upset her. She was completely heartbroken when Jen was killed. Her grief was equal to mine, we tried to avoid each other in fear of breaking down all over again.
But this was gonna be a great chance to try and mend our friendship as well. We'd been distant because of the pain and reminders we had around one another. When we met up at the location Amanda and Katrina had ridden together and as soon as they stepped out of the vehicle, Katrina rushed to Sam hugging him tightly. She turned to me and pulled me in for a hug.
"Hey Colby, how are you doing?" she asked softly. I smiled and hugged her back.
"One day at a time, but today's an okay day..." I answered honestly with a nod.
"That's good, always a good start. I'm sorry I've been avoiding the house," she said hugging Sam tightly.
"No worries, it's poor sam over here who's been pouty..." I laughed nodding to my best friend.
"he missed me apparently..." she giggled, kissing his cheek.
"He just saw you last week," I laughed, shaking my head.

"Yeah but he's used to seeing me every day...." she smirked, swatting his butt.
"So it's his hormones that missed you?" I teased sticking my tongue out at him.
"Hey! More than that.." Sam said in a fake hurt voice stomping his foot. We all laughed and got ourselves ready to do our intro.
"Hey, guys! Sam and Coldy here!! we're about to go into one of Canada's most haunted places, and we're so ready for this craziness!! Let's go get some background!!!" I said as we put our hands toward the camera for our transition.
We were able to go and talk to one of the hotel managers. We got seated in Jason's office and he began chatting with us about the rules etcetera for liability purposes, but then began with the story of the hotel and the haunting reports.
"A regular sighting from both guests and staff is a slender man sporting a mustache and holding a cane walking on the staircase to the lower lobby and down hallways. We believe he is the ghost of the architect, Francis Rattenbury, who helped build this hotel. Rattenbury's spirit is said to have returned to the Fairmont Empress after death, hoping to hear the people's praise once again for his architectural masterpiece.
Other reports include a maid continuing her daily duties on the sixth floor, still cleaning after her death. A vision of a young girl has also been seen, as well as the apparition of an employee who reportedly had taken his own life in the west tower of the building. Guests have reported an elderly woman in pajamas knocking on their door, and when they try to help her find her room, she leads them toward the elevator before vanishing. It is rumored that these elevators were added in place of previous rooms, likely where the old woman once slept before she passed. I have seen no proof of that in our records." Jason, the hotel manager, said.

"Wow, so lots of spottings! Are we talking full-on apparitions?" I asked. Jason nodded slowly.
"Full apparitions, I've never experienced the older woman, she seems more content with our guests," he said.
"So what part is the most haunted?" Sam asked curiously as Katrina was taking notes.
"The biggest hot spot is the sixth floor!" he said, pointing upwards.
"Really? and which one is there?" I asked curiously wondering who was gonna be around and active.
"Let's just say it's super clean," he chuckled.
"So the maid is active, any malicious activity or danger spots?" I asked, needing confirmation.
"Not really, a previous medium said the lobby sometimes has an angry vibration, but nothing too serious," he said, with a shrug.
"There's been a sighting by another medium?" Amanda asked, cautiously.
"Yes, said he seemed frustrated and a bit emotional," he stated, "She stated he was pacing back and forth."
"So maybe not angry but annoyed," she suggested, glancing around and trying to get in a good headspace.
"Possibly, but I will let you come to your own conclusions," he smiled, "But that is all I can tell you right now, the rest is up to you guys! Just try and avoid our basement ballrooms and the top floor, they're off-limits and under construction and some spots are unsafe. Now, my daughter watches you boys, and I know you won't listen, but I have to tell you for the hotel's protection." We kinda chuckled and I nodded at Sam's camera with my "He ain't wrong" face.
"Alright, thank you so much, we'll get started," Sam said shaking his hand before Jason smiled and gave us the key to our room. They had us in room 625. He specifically placed us on the sixth floor. We got our bags in hand and we all headed upstairs to go to our room. When we went inside it was very nice and we noticed there were two rooms in the suite. One room had a queen-sized bed and the other had two full-size beds. I rubbed the back of my neck and turned to look at every one.
"So what is gonna be the sleeping arrangements?" I asked glancing at the girls specifically.
"Katrina and Amanda can have the queen, we'll take the fulls," Sam said with a determined nod.
"Okay, works for us," the girls chorused before heading to their room. Sam and I headed to the room and got our hunting bag packed and ready to take with us to our suite living room. We would start here first to see if the 6th floor was indeed active. I was looking forward to the investigation tonight. I just hoped Jen was nearby but didn't interfere.
