Jack
It's been a little over a month since the whole lying incident.
I shook my head as I continued to walk with River down the sidewalk.
"What are you thinking about?" River asked curiously as he kissed the back of my hand.
"Just on how we met." I lied with a laugh.
River chuckled. "I remember that perfectly. You spilled coffee all over my favorite shirt."
My mouth fell open as he winked at me and gave me his stupid, but yet very hot smirk.
"But but...y-you ran into me!" I whined as he laughed.
"It's okay. I forgive you. Because I got to talk to you." He said softly at the end.
I blushed as he kissed my temple.
"I guess it was good. Even if I didn't get to drink that coffee." I giggled as River beamed.
"Are you okay?" River asked as I shifted from foot to foot.
I nodded. "My heels are just making my feet sore."
"Here." River said suddenly as he took his shoes off and held them out to me. "Wear mine. They are probably comfier."
I stared at him in shock. "But what about you? Won't the rocks from the ground hurt your feet?"

River laughed and shook his head. "Nah. I'll be fine."
"Are you sure?" I asked as I slowly grabbed them.
"Yes. Now put them on." River laughed as he took my heels from me.
"Okay." I smiled as I slipped them on. "Thank you."
"Anything for my queen." River smiled as he grabbed my hand again.
"I can take my heels so you don't have to carry them." I said as I reached for them.
River shook his head and moved my heels out of my reach. "No. Let me carry them. It's okay."
I blushed yet again as he pecked my lips.
"You are so amazing." I smiled as I rested my head on his shoulder.
Damn. Who knew guy shoes were so comfy.
"I know." River teased.
River stopped walking and stood still.
I was about to ask him what was wrong, but he held up his finger and he listened.
Uhh? What are we suppose to be listening for?
I screamed as three wolves jumped out of the bushes and in front of us.
"Holy shit!" I yelled as River shoved me behind him.
One wolf lunged for us and River pushed me away.
"Sorry about your shoes Jack." River said quickly.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
River didn't answer and shoved my pair of heels into the rogue's mouth so he wouldn't bite River.
I groaned. Dammit! Those were my favorite pair.
Oh well. Better than River being bit I guess.
Oh shit River!
I jumped up and ran towards River as I saw him struggling under the other wolf.
"Hey fucker!" I yelled as I grabbed my Swiss army knife out of my purse.
I stabbed the wolf in the front of the neck and he hopped off of River.
I quickly looked away as the wolf whimpered and let out its last breath of air.
"Why do you have a knife in your purse?" River asked as he checked me over for any damage.

I shrugged. "Gotta have protection."
River chuckled slightly and rolled his eyes before he faced the wolves.
"Wait!" I called out as I grabbed my knife and pulled it out of the dead wolf's body. "I need this."
The other wolf growled at me and I jumped from the noise.
"Jack!" River yelled as he pushed me out of the way and took the hit from the wolf.
"No!" I screamed as River slammed his head against the concrete road.
I ran over to his body and he started to groan from the pain.
"Please no." I said as I grabbed his head with my hands.
I heard some pops and I turned around to see one of the rogues shifted.
The rogues shifted and I covered my eyes as his junk was out in the open.
I guess some things cannot be unseen.
"Tell us where he is!" The rogue growled.
"Who?" I cried as blood started to gush out of River's head.
"Alpha River knows who." The rogue sneered with an ugly smirk.
"I-I don't k-know." River coughed as he tried to sit up.
I cried harder as each cough made blood slip from his mouth.
"No." I said hoarsely.
I might not be a doctor, but blood coming from the mouth is never good.
I cradled his head in my lap and held on tightly.
My hands started to feel warm and fuzzy and I quickly looked down at them.
The bleeding coming from River's head and mouth stopped slowly and he opened his eyes.
"W-what?" River whispered hoarsely as he slowly sat up. "W-what just h-happened?"
I looked at him in shock and then looked down at my hands.
While do they feel warm and fuzzy?
Okay. This is officially creeping me the hell out.
"Y-you." The rogue stuttered as he pointed to me. "A-ancient h-healer."
"Ancient healer?" I asked confusion as River looked at me in shock.
"You're the ancient healer!" The rogue shouted as the other wolf stared at me. "We have to get back and let them know!"
I watched in confusion as the two rogues bolted out of the area and ran off.
"What just happened?" I asked as I stared at River. "Can you please just tell me?"
"J-Jack?" River asked. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Tell you what?" I asked. "I am so confused right now."
"But. It was you the whole time?" River said as he paced. "They were talking about you!"
"Me? Who was talking about me?" I asked as River continued to pace.
"Oh no. That means you're in trouble." River growled. "Shit."
"River!" I yelled as I grabbed his face so he would look at me. "Why am I in trouble? And that doesn't sound very good now that I think about it."
"Come on. We need to get you back to the pack house." River said.
"What is going on?" I asked as River ran with me to his truck.
Thank the Lord I'm not in my heels anymore.
But these shoes are still hard to run in since they are so big.
"We have to talk to the elders." River mumbled as he fumbled with his truck keys.
"Elders?" I asked as he opened my door. "Who are the Elders?"
"No time to explain." River told me as he started up his truck.
"Oh my gosh." I groaned as I sat back in my seat.
Mine as well enjoy the silence. River isn't going to be saying anything for a while.
But what the hell is an ancient healer? Should I know something about that? Is it important?
Looks like I'm going to be getting my answers tonight whether River likes it or not.
