Lixian pursed his lips when he slowly began waking up the next morning, feeling absolutely horrible. He groaned and grabbed a fistful of his hair when the pounding in head didn't stop after a few seconds.
"Yeah, that's going to stay for a while." A low voice mumbled from next him, making him slightly pry open his eyes. "But I can make you some eggs? If you'd like." Raya smiled, still half asleep. His brown hair messy and sticking up in every direction, showing the demon his childlike features.
The creature just groaned again and closed his eyes, not in the mood to eat something. Raya laughed at that and stood up from the animal rug, stretching his sore muscles a little before grabbing a pan to cook some eggs in.
"I feel terrible." Lixian mumbled as he turned over onto his back.
"That's alcohol for you." Raya snorted. "It's great until you wake up the next morning."
"Why did humans ever make that shit?" The demon murmured.
"I don't know." Raya laughed shrugging and sat down in front of the fireplace, trying to start the fire.
Lixian leaned over and made the flames dance over the wood with just a flick of his hand. Which, of course, Raya had never seen before. He turned around in shock after seeing it, eying the demon that was smirking up at him. "H-how did you...—"
"I'm a demon."
"Yes but... —Do you even get cold? Did I waste my firewood on you?" He mumbled, squinting his eyes. He definitely didn't know as much about demons as he thought he did.
"No, I do get cold." Lixian chuckled. "But not as fast as you humans."
"Right." Raya nodded and turned back around to put some butter into the heated pan.
Lixian put his cheek onto his palm and watched the human do his thing. His eyes slowly going down his body and what he was doing, wanting to see him in ink markings like his own. Would he do it? Lixian pursed his lips at that thought. No, he didn't think the human could endure that sort of pain.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" The said boy asked at that moment.
Lixian averted his eyes, cheeks warming up because he was caught. "I wasn't staring, just... looking."
"Sure you were." Raya smiled, looking over his shoulder to playfully wink at him.
It was funny how they went from being wary around each other to playful in such a short amount of time. But then again, last night had been... nice. Different. Lixian had never experienced such a peaceful night before, not even before his family was brutally murdered.

"Urgh— Lixian! Just let me see it!" The human hissed, trying to pull up the demon's shirt that stubbornly turned away.
"It's healing just fine! It's been a whole week." The said demon groaned, prying away those hands that were trying to capture his body and make him stop spinning away.
"But I want to make sure!" Raya whined, giving in his defeat of not getting what he wanted while sitting on the edge of the table.
"I'm a demon, I heal faster then you humans." Lixian argued, safely standing a few feet away.
"So what? Can't I look at them to make sure they heal correctly? I'm doing this for you, not for me." Raya huffed, his lips pouty and cute like a scolded child.
Lixian rolled his eyes, finding this boy's character kind of irresistible. "Fine, whatever." He complied eventually.
Raya smiled triumphantly while hopping off the table and quickly shuffling closer. He held the end of the shirt up so he could see the wounds and examined the healing skin carefully, slowly going over every cut and bruise he could find to make sure this demon was healing correctly. But of course he was, a demon's body was ten times stronger then a human's so how could it not be all good after a full week?

Raya leaned back into place and let the shirt fall back down, his brown orbs avoiding the dark ones staring at him expectedly. "So what did you find, doctor?" Lixian playfully asked.
"Nothing, it's all fine." Raya mumbled softly.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I don't think I heard you. What did y—"
"I said it's fine! Goddess, shut up." The older groaned, embarrassed.
Lixian noticed his flushed face and smiled warmly, softly grabbing the elbow of the boy so he would turn back around. Raya was a blushing mess as he locked eyes with the demon, frowning slightly. "I was just kidding, I know you mean the best... Thank you."
Raya huffed while averting his eyes, just nodding in return while grabbing his hunting gear. Not knowing how to response to that. The creature was getting too comfortable, making him all flustered and shy away in his own home! But he liked it nonetheless, the company. It was far too long since he had this much fun and comfort from somebody.
And he started to have a crush on the younger demon, even if he desperately tried to fight it.
"Can I come with? I know a few good tricks to help you capture bunnies." Lixian excitedly suggested, though quickly noticed the absent and cold shoulder he got in return. "Is that a no?"
Raya shook his head and forced a smile. "Only when you want to and feel comfortable to do so? Not many people come around here so I'm sure you're safe to go outside."
Lixian squinted his eyes and strode over, carefully forcing the human to turn around and look at him. Raya's lips parted in surprise and watched the demon's eyes flash over his face. "What's wrong?"
"What do you mean?" The older asked, startled.
"You... look distressed. I don't know, I feel like you want to say more." Lixian tried explaining.
"I just—" Raya cut himself off and sighed dramatically before slumping his head forward. "I'm just getting used to having you here and the thought of you... eventually leaving caused me to be a little upset, I guess." He softly confessed.
"Oh." The demon mumbled, not knowing what to say. He wanted him to stay?
"Sorry, I know, I'm being dramatic. Let's just go before it's dark." Raya quickly said, but was stopped again by a soft grab at his elbow.
"I... would like to stay, if you'll have me?" Lixian carefully suggested, a little unsure if he said the right thing by seeing the shocked expression on the boy's face. But that feeling was quickly shoved away when the human leaped forward and embraced the demon tightly, softly squeaking with his held in excitement.
Lixian stiffened with the sudden skin on skin contact, the feeling unknown, but slowly melted at how it made his insides tingle and carefully held the human's waist in return. Softly pulling the boy closer and resting his chin on his shoulder, closing his eyes in delight as he inhaled that gorgeous scent.
"That would make me really happy." Raya softly murmured into the younger's neck, his warm breath tickling his skin while it littered itself with goosebumps. "Alright, let's go before it gets dark." Raya giggled before letting go.
Lixian quickly nodded, trying to hide how flustered he truly felt.

8 1292Blood Quest - A LitRPG
Leon's family has been diagnosed with a new type of incurable blood disease. It's an absolute death sentence and when it turns aggressive, you only have a few more years of painful life left to live. His mother has just begun the last years of the disease when a person supposedly comes back from death with supernatural abilities. He talks about a choice you get after death--get an extra chance to come back to life, or die. Even with Leon's diminishing life span, he won't consider the option of going there, until he meets another survivor who had the same goal as him and succeeded. Leon has a choice to make—die now for a chance to save his mother, or die in a few years, where the disease rapidly melts his muscles from his own body. He enters a game-like world, a sort of limbo, where his ultimate goal is to climb the tower of Katastroph before his mother's time runs out. There are a few problems with this though. The tower is almost impossible to beat, if you die you won't revive, and only three people in over twenty years have actually made it back. Leon has two years to climb the tower, with the help of the few people willing to try, while Ai, the tutorial guide, makes things harder for them. ***** The story starts pretty dark but goes onto a lighter tone. Then (more) dark again. Disclaimer: This story is an experimental project and I hope to get any and all feedback you can give me. Warning: First draft. Chapters tend to be between 3400-4100 words long (about 8-11 A4-pages). Mentioning it since I've seen it in other fictions :P Sometimes they're shorter, sometimes they're longer. ******************************** CHAPTER RELEASES UPDATE: As the first "book" in the series is done, I'm going to release coming chapters somewhat sporadically, and when Writathon ends, I'll probably go back to publishing one chapter per weekend. We'll just have to wait and see! I hope you enjoy the story! I really appreciate all comments and feedback, so if you have anything to say, feel free to voice it :) ************ [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
8 187Not as it seems
Stranded inside the world he'd been writing about for years, Arwen is left at the mercy of the characters and setting he'd so lovingly created. Now trapped and powerless save for his knowledge of the secrets the world holds, he has to find his way back home. Hopefully to make it there in one piece. But things aren't going to be easy, as the further he plunges into his world, the more he will realize things aren't quite what he thought them to be. This story is a case study on a realistic approach to isekai as well as what it means to "know" someone / something, and to "KNOW" them. There will be hard themes and uncomfortable truths, and just like with real life, it will show things as they are unfiltered.
