Maddie opened her eyes, feeling something heavy draped over her stomach. Looking down, she saw a big, tattooed arm wrapped around her.

"You having Deja vu?" Jude asked, his voice husky, and tired sounding.

Maddie smiled, but hissed in pain, the cut on her lip protesting the movement. "A little." She said quietly.

Jude sat up, reached over to the night stand and handed her three little red, round pills, and a glass of water.

"Here, take these, they will help." He said. She took the water then the pills, inspecting them.

Jude rolled his eyes. "They're ibuprofen." He said, smirking as he got out of bed.

She laughed. "I knew that..." She said softly, taking the pills. She got out of bed and noticed she was in one of Jude's black T-shirts.

"I must have been really tired." She said as she walked over to her clothes. He nodded. "Yeah, you fell asleep halfway through 'The Vow'." He told her, brushing his teeth in the bathroom.

"Did I text Katie? She's going to be so worried!!!" She said looking around for her phone, in panic mode.

"Babe, calm down, I texted her and told her you fell asleep and that I didn't want to wake you up if you didn't have class in the morning, and she told me that you didn't have class, so I just let you sleep." He said. She smiled a little. He was so thoughtful, he even thought to text her friend for her.

"Thank you, Jude." She whispered.

He turned his head and smiled at her. "No problem, babe, you want to go get breakfast?" He asked her, putting his toothbrush away.

She nodded. "Can we stop at my apartment first so I can change? And cover up this bruise?" She asked, looking at her reflection in the mirror. She had a big, purple bruise on the corner of her mouth that could be covered up by some concealer and foundation but she couldn't do anything about the swollen, cut lip, and scratches on her right cheek.

"Yeah. We should probably clean your cuts again too." He told her, picking up the rubbing alcohol.

They got to the little diner around ten, after Maddie went home to change her clothes, and cover up the bruise, and talk to Katie.

Their waitress was a blonde around thirty, named Aria, she was sweet, but kept giving Maddie sympathetic smiles. At first, Maddie wasn't sure why, but after the third time, after she walked away, Jude leaned forward.

"She thinks I did that to your face." He said.

"What? No she doesn't." She said softly, looking at the waitress. "Why would she think that?" She asked quietly.

"Everyone around here knows my club, they know what my cut means, they don't know me they know the club, or what they think the club is, so I walk in with a pretty girl, with a swollen lip and scratched face, people are going to assume things, I'm not saying it bothers me. I don't care what they think, but I'm just saying, that's why she keeps looking at you like that." He said, shrugging.

"Should I tell her?" Maddie asked softly.

He shook his head. "No, it doesn't matter what she thinks." He told her.

Aria brought their food, and quickly walked away. Maddie ordered pancakes and eggs, and two strips of bacon, and toast with strawberry jelly, while Jude got waffles, sausage links, eggs, toast, and biscuits and gravy.

Maddie dug into her pancakes as soon as they were set down in front of her. And they were amazing, they tasted a little bit like vanilla and cinnamon, and had fresh strawberries and hot maple syrup on top.

She ran a hand through her hair as the smell of her eggs made their way to her nose.

The smell making her nauseous. She pushed her plate away and reached for her water.

"Hey, you okay?" Jude asked, setting down his fork. "Yeah." She whispered. "It's just the smell of the eggs." She said quietly.

He nodded, and motioned for the waitress to come over.

"Hi, what can I do for you?" Aria asked, with a small smile.

"Hey. Can you toss the eggs for us please?" Jude asked, scooping Maddie's eggs onto his plate, then handing it to Aria.

"Is something wrong with them? I can have the cook remake them for you." She offered, frowning. "No. thank you. She is pregnant and the smell is making her sick, thank you though." Jude said with a reassuring smile to the woman. She nodded. "Oh, of course." She said before quickly walking away. She brought Jude's plate back a minute later, with no eggs.

"I brought you guys some hash browns to replace the eggs." She said, setting down the plate. "Thanks." Maddie said with a smile.

After the waitress walked away, Maddie looked at Jude. "You could have eaten your eggs." She said softly. He smiled at her.

"No way, not if the smell was making you sick." He told her, like it was no big deal, and started eating the rest of his food.

Maddie really enjoyed the pancakes, and the hash browns were delicious, but what she enjoyed most was hanging out with Jude, he was funny, and smart, he asked her around her classes and her family, and even her favorite song, and dream job. He was actually interested in what made her happy and what she liked to do. It made her feel special.

They got up to leave, and Jude paid the check, and surprisingly, left Aria a pretty big tip, and they left the diner.

Maddie's phone rang, she pulled it out of her purse to see it was Katie calling. "It's Katie, probably wondering when I'll be home." She said to Jude before answering the phone.

"Hey Katie, I'm on my way home." She said.

"Maddie, someone broke into the apartment, and trashed it, everything is everywhere, the bookshelf is knocked over, the table in the kitchen is in the living room, they took all of the dishes out of the kitchen and through them on the floor, and it's a huge mess." Katie said, sounding shocked and scared.

"Wait, what? Who did that? Why?" Maddie asked.

"Hey, what's going on?" Jude asked, looking over at her.

"Someone broke into our apartment and trashed it." She said, filling him in.

"Maddie, that's not all, your room had the worst of it, your dresser was broken into pieces, your desk was flipped over, your computer is shattered, and someone spray painted the walls." She said.

"Spray painted the walls?" Maddie asked, shocked.

"Yeah, Mads, it's a lot of mean stuff painted on your walls. Calling you a slut and... You'll see when you get here, its bad Maddie." Katie said.

"Okay, we're almost there, you're not alone are you?" She asked, concerned for her friend.

"Yeah, but no one is here, they were long gone by the time I got here after class, I'm just going to try to clean it up." She said.

"Tell her not to touch anything, I need to see it the way it is." Jude said. Maddie didn't even realize that he could hear what Katie was saying.

She relayed the message.

She looked over at Jude when he started talking.

"Hey, Mac, we got a problem, meet me over at Katie and Maddie's place, they had a break in." He said. Jude laughed.

"Yeah, Katie is fine, she wasn't home when it happened. Yeah, see you in ten." He said, hanging up as they pulled up in front of the apartment.

"Why would someone target you?" he asked, looking over at her. "I don't know.' She whispered, getting out of the car. She ran into the apartment to find Katie, and found her standing in the middle of the living room, her hands on her hips. "This is so annoying, who did this? I want to know, so I can go kick their ass!!!" Katie said, crossing her arms. Katie was scary when she was mad.

"Maddie, what happened to your face?" She asked, concerned. "Its fine, I'll explain it later." Maddie said with a smile.

"We'll figure it out and deal with it." Jude said, looking around the downstairs, then going up to Maddie's bedroom. Maddie followed.

Her bedroom as a mess, everything was in pieces and on the floor, there were holes kicked and punched into the walls and her door was kicked in, which was stupid, because it hadn't been locked. There were also a lot of things written in black spray paint on the walls, name calling mostly. She just didn't know who would do this, she didn't have any enemies, and she was very lovable!!!

"You and Katie can stay at the club house until we figure this out." He said.

Maddie shook her head. "No, we can stay here, I don't want to go to the club house with Kandy there." She said, then it dawned on her.

"She did this!!!" She squeaked. "We got into a fight last night, and she did this." She said, shocked. "She is the only person I know who doesn't like me enough to do something like this." She said.

Jude rolled his eyes. "No. Kandy wouldn't do this, besides, she was at the club house when we left..." He said.

Maddie didn't look convinced. "No, she did this, who else would do this Jude?" She asked angrily.

Jude took out his phone and made a call. "Andy, has Kandy left the club house today?" He asked. He waited for a few seconds while the person on the other side of the phone spoke.

"Great, thanks." He said, before hanging up.

"She hadn't left the club house today." He said, putting his phone in his pocket.

"Then she was involved!!!" She said, frustrated.

"Maddie, that's enough, she wasn't involved. Pack your stuff, I'm going to look around and we will go back to the club house." He said before walking out of the room.

Maddie glared at his back as he left.
