《do you》iii

"hi i'm lisa and i'll be your roommate," i said as i flashed my smile. i lend my hand for a handshake but the brunette payed no attention to me.

"obviously," she scoffed and walked past me. i was taken aback, no one ever rejected my handshake.

"by the way, what's your name?" i asked, having a little hope that i can at least know her name.

she turned around and rolled her eyes, my cheeks starting to get tired from smiling. "if you're looking for your room, it's in front of the kitchen." she said coldly.

"wow. your name's a little long," i joked. but when i saw her expression, i became tensed and looked at the ground. i never felt nervous and embarrassed at the same time.

idiot, i told myself. she didn't want your attention in the first place. is that too hard to see that, lisa? not everyone in the world wants to be friends with you.

but my thoughts didn't waver. i thought of another excuse to at least have a longer conversation with her.

"can you show me my room?" i asked timidly. the brunette groaned. but took my luggage and lead the way.

"here is your room," she said as she opened the door. the room was plain, only containing the basic furnitures for a bedroom.

"thank you," i smiled but the girl's expression did not changed at all. the girl just nodded and left me with my train of thoughts.

after fixing my things, i flopped myself on the bed and closed my eyes. my body was exhausted from all the fixing of my room. sleep was embracing me but my stomach growled. i groaned.

"really, now?" i asked my stomach and stood up from the bed and went out of the room.

come to think of it, i didn't even have my own foods. i forgot to buy my own supply of foods. i just shrugged it off.

my stomach growled even more, the smell of gamjatang lingering in the kitchen. once i opened the door, my eyes immediately landed on my roommate who is busily cooking the said food.

"you're done packing?" she asked, her back still turned on me.

i was surprised. a while ago she was being cold to me but now? then i also realized how soothing her voice sounded like. her voice was the same as the girl's voice i met before. but wasn't she kind of nice to me but the girl right here's so cold and bitchy? she is very different and—

"are you mute?" the brunette finally finished her cooking and faced me, her expression cold. my train of thoughts vanished.

"w-what?" i asked. although i heard her correctly, i still kind of didn't hear it. the brunette just rolled her eyes.

i helped her prepare the food for dinner, trying to hide the excitement in my eyes. then we sat and started eating.

once the food touched my mouth, excitement ran all over my body. the food tastes delicious! it is better than the way i cook. and it very different too. like my roommate's style, whatever.

"this gamjatang is the best!" i remarkdd enthusiastically. she stopped chewing the food and looked down a little, a faint red color visible on her cheeks.

"you look cute," i blurted out absentmindedly. the brunette's eyes met mine and for a second, i was mesmerized by her brown chocolate orbs. her looks could kill, and i'd willingly die because of it. i can stare at her all day. but when i realized that the girl's stare turned to a glare, i looked away. i blushed hardly so i bent my head as i ate the food she cooked.

silence surrounded us. awkward silence.

once she finished, she immediately stood up and placed the plate inside the sink. i saw on my peripheral vision that she was staring at me, i bent down lower.

she clicked her tongue. my attention averted to the sound that she made.

"don't bend your head while eating. you might get a stiff neck." she said stoically. i immediately fixed my position. i looked at her for approval and she just nodded.

i followed her movements. she slowly walked and stopped when she was in front of the door. she turned around and faced me.

"i'm flattered that you liked my food. thank you." she said softly. a small smile then appeared on her lips.

"of course. your gamjatang's the best!" i exclaimed. she gestured the smile back with a thumbs up.

i think she almost giggled. "since i cooked for you, you should wash the dishes," she left immediately before i could even say yes.

i don't mind if i wash the dishes or not, at least i got to talk to my new roommate who doesn't seem so bad at all.

"she seems a bit nice," i muttered when her presence was gone. i stood up and cleaned the table. then proceeded in washing the dishes.

while washing, all she can think about is her roommate. she's so beautiful and cute at the same time. although she's cold, this must be her attitude if she meets a stranger that'll be her new roommate. as they say, 'first impression lasts'. she must really be a nice person.

then lisa frowned. there was still one thing she didn't know the brunette possessed that all roommate's should know right now.

her name.

she never knew the girl's name. when she asked, she would divert to another topic. she didn't even realize that it was nine pm. she dried her hands after she finished washing.

she took a quick shower, wore comfy pajamas and laid down on her bed and closed her eyes, drifting to sleep.

the brunette's smile flashed inside lisa's mind. lisa opened her eyes and faced the ceiling. she's now smiling like an idiot.

"i made her smile today." she mused and smiled even more, her face gonna tear soon.

"today was a great day."
