《Alphas》Naomi

"Naomi?" Kai, Fiona and Connor all asked in surprise.

"What are you doing here?" Kai asked, frozen in his place.

Brook stared in betrayal at Naomi, knowing exactly why she was here.

"Take em to the lab," Naomi ordered. She turned her gaze to Brook, not hiding her disgust. "Tranquilize her."

Brook didn't have time to move when a tiny little needle entered her shoulder.

Fiona went to pull it out, but it was too late. The majority of the liquid had already entered her system.

In a matter of seconds, Brook went stumbling. She tried to hold her balance, with her friends, including Connor trying to support her.

But Brook was big, her wolf was much larger than the average, which meant she was a lot heavier.

Brook crashed to the ground, willing herself to stay awake. Voices that filled the air sounded distant and out of this world. It almost reminded Brook of being high, except this time it wasn't as fun.

She was only able to last a mere second longer before she passed out.

The others, stood there in panic.

Fiona wondered what was going to happen to everyone, and by everyone she meant Brook and Kai. Connor was excluded from that thought. To her, he was undeserving of Brook who deserved the best mate anyone could every ask for.

Kai wondered if he was ever going to see his family again, or if they would make it out alive. He blamed Connor for this, for being stupid. Brook wanted to save him, and now she couldn't.

Because he was an idiot.

And Connor on the other hand wondered what would happen to him, would he still be able to lead his pack and be with Brooklynn?

He might never know.

"Call some of the guards to help carry her, she might be a bit heavy," Naomi said. She turned her back and started walking down the hallway that they had just came from.

"Where are you taking us?" Kai called out, but he received no answer. Naomi just kept on going.

"Fine," Fiona shouted, "Be that way, bitch."

About a half an hour later, the group sat in a large room, locked from the outside.

Brook was starting to wake up, but she still was incoherent. And Kai and Fiona sat across from Connor, glaring a look that could kill towards him.

"This is your fault," Fiona hissed, "If you weren't a fucking idiot, we wouldn't be here."

Connor shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly, not caring to look up.

"Nobody told Brook she had to come after me."

This sent Fiona over the edge.

She lunged at him, attempting to grab at him. But before she could, arms wrapped around her stomach and pulled her back.

"What the hell, Kai?" Fiona grumbled, trying to free herself from Kai's grasp. Kai didn't budge though. "Let me go!"

"We need him living," Kai said. Both him and Fiona shot glares at Connor, who smiled smugly.

"Maybe not all of him," Fiona replied.

Connor sat there, crisscrossing his legs like a child. He looked completely unbothered by Fiona's advances, and looked almost as if he was teasing them.

"You'll never get out of here," Connor laughed, "You're all going to die a very slow death."

Fiona and Kai stared at Connor with confusion.

"Why do you say that?" Kai asked, finally releasing Fiona. Fiona had to restrain herself from attempting to murder him again.

"Because," Connor paused, "You'll be their lab rats. Especially Brook."

"And you're okay with them hurting Brook?" Fiona asked, "She's your mate. She loves you."

"That's really too bad," Connor said, "What a waste of a pretty face."

Neither Kai or Fiona could believe what they had just heard, and neither could Brook.

"Do you really mean that?" Brook asked, surprising all three of them. She had been so quiet that nobody knew she was awake.

"Why wouldn't I?" Connor glared at Brook, "I honestly couldn't care less about you?"

That hit Brook hard, and she desperately tried to convince herself that he was lying. Because with the secret that she had, she needed him with her.

"Don't listen to him," Kai said, "He's just moonwashed."

Connor laughed, a long and screeching laugh which would remind someone of a hyena.

"You fucking idiots," He spit, "I'm not moonwashed. I made you think that I was sick so I could lure you here. And you all were so gullible that you believed it."

Nobody spoke because nobody knew what to say. Each and every one of them felt betrayed by Connor in some way.

"What about your pack?" Fiona questioned, "How are you just going to explain that their Luna, her best friend, and Kai all just went missing?"

"Fuck that pack, and fuck you all. You'll die, and so will that pack. Each and everyone of them."

Brook stared at the man in front of her, not recognizing him. He had tricked her, and her friends, and he was willing to let the people that loved him die.

"You're heartless," Brook said, "I knew that the day I met you. You're not the guy that I loved and you don't deserve me. You don't deserve me, or the baby."

All eyes shot to Brook, who continued to stare Connor down.

"Brook..." Fiona whispered in shock and in pity.

But she didn't respond, she didn't even bat an eyelash in Fiona's direction.

Brook was hurt. More hurt than she had ever been that her mate had betrayed her, that the father of her baby didn't give a shit.

"Well luckily for me, I won't have to worry about that thing in a couple of weeks." Connor said, standing up to meet Brook's piercing glare. "Or maybe, we'll wait a couple of months. And then I'll cut it out of you."

Brook felt her blood boil, and her heart pound. Replacing her sadness was anger, so strong that she thought she could break through the concrete walls just by screaming.

"You will die, Connor Sebastian. No matter what, I will be there to see it." Brook spoke a few words, but it showed the hate that now filled her.

Before anyone else could say anything, the door opened.

"Nevaeh?" Everyone said at the same time, even Connor who was extremely confused as to why she was here.

"Theo said you called?" Nevaeh released her signature smirk, "Well you can thank him. The cavalry's arrived."

They all stood up, including Connor who began to run. Nevaeh on the other hand was already thinking ahead of Connor.

She delivered a powerful kick to his jaw, and then another one to finish him off.

"One thing your mate taught me, a girl must always be able to fight in heels. It looks badass."

Kai grabbed the knocked out Connor and lifted him onto his back like a sack of potatoes.

"We gotta go," He said. They all ran next to each other, following Nevaeh who seemed to know the way out.

The pack members were helping to fend off the guards, who were greatly outnumbered. It seemed everyone would make it out.

And then a gunshot rang through the air.

"Kai, no!" Brook screamed, watching as one of her most trusted companions slipped to the ground.

Kai released Connor, before he slumped against the wall.

He released a low moan, placing his hand over the wound which lay right in his ribs. The blood poured out of him, and Kai began to look like something out of a shark movie.

"Fuck." He cried, leaning his head back against the wall.

Fiona, Brook and Nevaeh all kneeled down next to Kai to assess his bullet wound. Their hearts dropped when they realized a wooden bullet was used.

Before anyone said anything, Naomi began to speak.

"Ahh, wooden bullets. I'd say even worse than wolfsbane or silver. After all, at least those don't pose the chance of spreading into the heart."

Brook glanced back at Kai, who had lost a significant amount of blood already. She couldn't hide her worry for her friend, knowing that he could die in a matter of minutes if they didn't get help.

"Kai, keep as much pressure on it as possible." Brook said, taking her jacket off and having Kai press it onto the wound.

She turned her wicked gaze back to Naomi, who smiled down at them.

"Why are you doing this?" Brook asked, knowing it was a cliche question. But she needed to know.

"Why? Because Brook, you've had everything you've ever wanted. Never had to work for anything in your life, you just step all over those of us who actually have to work."

Brook couldn't believe what she was hearing come from Naomi. It felt so random, and so stupid to be mad about.

"Brook he's losing too much blood," Fiona said. Brook glanced at Kai to see him dangerously pale.

Moon goddess please. Don't take him.

She wasn't expecting a response, and she didn't get one.

"So sad that he'll die, I actually kind of liked Kai." Naomi faked pity, raising her gun up again. "It would be cruel to let him suffer."

As Naomi pointed the gun straight at Kai's head, she paused.

"Sorry about the baby, Brook."

Bang.

A shot rang through the air, but it wasn't Kai that was shot.

It was Naomi. A bullet straight through her heart, causing her to fall to the ground.

"Too bad she'll never know the name," Brook said.

She held a gun in her hand, which sent everyone into surprise.

"Brook where'd you get that?" Fiona asked.

"The guards don't keep them in a safe enough place," was all Brook said. She looked at Connor, and then at Nevaeh. "Tell some of the pack to take him to the cells."

Not saying anything else, everyone slowly and carefully picked Kai up in effort to get him to a doctor.

But Kai wasn't holding on too well. As a matter of fact, he was barely holding on.

The voices around him were getting farther and farther away, and the light was getting closer and closer.

The last thing Kai remembered was a red headed girl, and his alpha screaming his name.

And then silence.
